Description

Ahoy me scallywags! This be one of ye entries in the GeGnome moveable cache contest, of 2010-2011! YARR!!

Your challenge is to locate this gnome, collect it, take it away, sign the log and re-hide it in a different location, taking note of the new co-ordinates. Then you log the details in 2 simple steps:

First Step: Log your find with a 'Found' log - this will give you your smiley!

Second Step: Log the move with a new 'Moved' log, adding the new co-ordinates as well as something useful in the hint box. This will update the main co-ordinates and the hint for the cache listing so that it will update in GSAK and the like.

One of the best parts about these moving gnomes/caches is that you don't have to worry about being spotted retrieving the cache. Enjoy being as obvious as you like in order to grab it. Then run away as fast as you can.

The rules are simple:
- You can "find" this gnome as many times as you like (the more the merrier!) as long as the last move was by someone else
- A move should be completed and logged with new coordinates and a hint within 2 days please

The main idea is to keep the cache moving along so please hide it in a terrain and difficulty level that will keep it easily found. Don't forget you can  find and move this cache as many times as you like!

When you hide it somewhere new, please add a good hint to help other seekers find it.

Please be gentle with me, as i'm a little tipsy, and i dont want to end up in davy jones locker! ARR!

Bonus virtual points, if you can log this, in pirate speak!

Photos of the gnome are strongly encouraged, i'd love to know what he's up to! :)

But now that the GeoGnome race is over (where i went quite well!), i would like to make my way home eventually..

Candy Cane 101 and I went for a walk this afternoon, placing gnomes in this area, according to some very specific instructions by Black Bunny. We haven't been told why, but we suspect a pattern is emerging. We also suspect that we were told to do it in a certain way, just to make us cross the creek the maximum number of times en route. We had fun anyway, and saw a lot of kangaroos and a few brown bunnies.

02-Jul-11
Went for a drive with black bunny and Just a cacher to a event., when the event was over, there were 50 gnomes and pathtag swapping
Thanks for the gnome Very Happy

02-Jul-11
Grabbed this fellow to bring back to Canberra after the GLF & GFF event at Mt Victoria. One of 50 gnomes at the GLF & GFF event.

A chance to catch up with some Sydney cachers that we have only parried with on the forums, enjoy some good company and swap some tags.

Thanks for the gnome

We found this gnome again while attending the Blue Mountains Gnome Event. TFTG

02-Jul-11
Found at the gnome event at Mount Victoria.
It was a great day! The gnomes enjoyed it, and so did the non-gnomes.
Good food, good company, good pathtags, and magnificent weather and views!

02-Jul-11
Went for a drive today to catch up with a few gnomes that I heard were gathering at an event in the Blue Mt's. Something about the GLF and GFF calling a truce.

Meet a few gnoming aficiandos and even eat my way through a couple of gnome cup cakes (Thanks to Just a Cacher for those) while signing (almost) all the logs.

A great way, and a great spot, to spend an hour or 2.

Thanks to all who attended, great to meet you, along with the gnomes.

'Geopirate' is ready to party with his mates, some new and some he has already met in his travels. With the GLF and the GFF comparing notes let's hope for a lasting peace.
Don't go looking for him before Saturday the 2nd of July, he won't come out and play until then!

01-Jul-11
'GeoPirate' was very bored, lonely and cold so he sent an SOG to the GFF in Clwydd. By the way this does not stand for "Son Of a Gnome" it stands for "Save Our Gnomes" the internationally recognized gnomish distress call. So the GFF obliged by sending their recovery officer.
'GeoPirate' is now recovering from his hard work with all his mates.

22-May-11

Dropped off today.

He can be found hiding under some bark behind the remnants of an old fireplace. This area was once home to depression era and then post WW2 soldier settlements. And this old fireplace is just about all that remains of one such settlement "house". I always pause to remember this was at one time someone's home.

Gnome is hidden no more than 3mtrs from a well used mtb trail that is not on any map. Accessing this area from either Old Kent Rd (better for MTB access) or from Coral Ave is your best bet. Several tracks will lead you to the right one, working out which is the right one is your challenge.

Terrain rating: 2.

MTB rating: Tops. Laughing

'GeoPirate' has had enough of the quiet life, after all he is not the shy retiring type, he is a pirate at heart and wants to carry on his profession to the best of his abilities.
He is waiting for a train to rob, hiding under the dried grass near the station. I did not want to upset him by telling him that trains don't stop here!

My little friend 'GeoPirate' has now been dropped at Wentworth Falls where I am sure a keen local Gnome gnapper will take charge of him without delay. These Gnomes have such a hard life, being stuck in shopping bag for long train trips and then passed on to someone else without a by your leave.

20-Feb-11
I have had my eye on this Gnome and another 2 for some time now, but "The best laid plans of Gnomes and Men...' It was not until today that I was able to make the long trip to Watson's Bay and retrieve the 3 Gnomes there that were enjoying life a bit too much, high time they started earning their keep and got on the move.
All 3 of them will be moved very, very soon.

After taking a well earned rest for a week post race it was time to get these guys back on the road again. A nice trip to Watsons Bay was in order where he and Mr Bump got out to go and hide under a fig tree. I couldn't get a good sat reading there so had to take it from the middle of the park and extrapolate using satellite maps.

05-Feb-11
Another great event today. On a stinking hot day in homebush oveer 40 gnomes showed up and looked to be having a great time especially this little guy. Oh yeah there where some fun people there aswell.

Looks like a couple of gnomes may have followed us home and there locations will be updated soon.

Thankyou to the organisers and who ever gave this little guy a lift. Looking forward to the next event.

05-Feb-11

I didn't think I'd see GeoPirate again so soon!

Today I encountered him at the The Gegnome Project-Post Gnome Get Together at Homebush Bay!

He was one of an amazing variety of 42 gnomes in attendance at Wentworth Commons in Sydney's Olympic Park -- and a few gnome-mad geocachers attended as well . . . The scorching 41 degree temperatures didn't dent our enthusiasm.

Congratulations to all those battle-hardened gnomes who survived the rigours of the recent competition and our condolences to the owners of those who suffered injuries and/damage or who were finally declared 'missing in action' . . .

GeoPirate can now take a very well-deserved break, doing whatever it is that gnomes do when they take well-deserved break . . . I only hope he doesn't turn his hand to any illegal activities!

05-Feb-11
Found among the 41 other Gnomes at 'The GeGnome Project - Post Gnome Get Together!' A great time was had by all, even the Gnomes and they spent their time having logs and other things pushed up their nether regions at least for most of them. A great way to see Gnomes that I would not have been able to get to otherwise.

05-Feb-11
Missed this one during the race, but managed to get him at the event today. He decided to come home and sit in the air conditioning until things cool down a bit.

05-Feb-11
Well what a party that was! There were way more gnomes (42!!!) than cachers (maybe 10 teams, about 20 people) and things almost got out of hand Surprised Luckily some of the gnomes who attended were able to keep a bit of control - Bruce the Gninja, GeoPirate, Gno-mad, Gnome-Mare and Geolady were big enough and tough enough to exert some authority.

We held a ballot to see who would go home in which car and GeoPirate agreed to take richary and Anna.

04-Feb-11
GeoPirate was part of the delegation waiting for me this afternoon and demanding transport to the party tomorrow. I lined him up with the others to wait for their taxi

I had the sad task today of waking up old 'GeoPirate' from his slumbers in a little Thornleigh park, and telling him that it was all over. The comp was finished and he hadn't won.

He seemed little disturbed and showed signs that he'd like to return to his former occupation, doing whatever it is that gnome pirates do -- probably something illegal, I'd guess.

Anyhow, I carefully brought him back to GeoBuru and promised him that he'd soon be 'released into the wild' to seek his fortune away from the competition.

Will have to think what I do next . . . but am not leaving GP unsupervised!

GeoPirate didn't last long with us - we made him walk the plank at our local park and gave him one more move for the Project. Maybe it's his last, maybe not. He might win the most moves award if there is one.

After my investigations into GeoPirate's dodgy background, I decided that he definitely needed experienced . . . 'supervision,' shall we say.

Knowing that just such an experienced geocacher was nearby, I arranged a drop-off at this familiar spot, in the shadow of the Bodington Trig.

GeoPirate will soon be on his way down to Hazelbrook and beyond. I really didn't think he'd be a good influence in the Leura area.

And maybe he won't be a good influence in any area! But he's got to keep moving until January 31st . . .

26-Jan-11
I instantly spotted rogerw3's local drop-off of 'GeoPirate' and was off in a flash in the faithful GeoBuru, accompanied by Mrs. pjmpjm for extra back-up.

It just doesn't do to allow strange gnomes to loiter in our neighbour, unsupervised and unrestrained. Essential checks, with the police, immigration authorities, senior religious leaders, local government officials, Eric Roozendahl, Fred Nile, etc., must be carried out as soon as possible.

It's true that most gnomes fail nearly of these tests, but procedures must be followed!

'GeoPirate' was quickly discovered at one of Leura's highest spots, just as I expected, and I had him in custody before he knew I was in the vicinity. These dead-of-night gnome pick-ups have become second nature to me now, and I have no fear of spider webs, prowling wallabies, drunken teenagers or any of the usual denizens of the night. My mind is solely focused on gnomes and their prompt retrieval.

Anyhow, GP is now waiting in the garage for the results of my investigations.

I don't know what I'm going to do with myself after January 31st . . .

After enjoying the coolness of the air conditioned train he wanted off at Leura to play hide and seek with pjmpjm. Always happy to oblige I took him to a favourite Gnome haunt and he settled down for a restful time before going to pjm casa to raise merry hell as a self respecting pirate would.

26-Jan-11
Since I was in the area melting in the heat I might as well go for broke and grab the Geopirate. Found him in a very quiet mood in his tree and very happy to move on, the neighbours were too quiet for his taste.

25-Jan-11
Moved 35.94km
GeoPirate was rather well behaved this time round, he didn't have his boozing mates with him. I hustled up the gnomes and now that Geopirate's dilemma has been solved and with permission from the games administrator I told him he had to leave. "What? we have to go out in that heat.... not likely!.....Excuse me..... who's house is this? You seem to forget I'm bigger than you. Now move with the others.
His constant complaints echoed throughout the car, so I turfed him out in Rookwood cemetery. He shook his fist and scrambled up a tree.

23-Jan-11
On a gnome gnapping mission to rescue the stranded gnomes in Camden. I found a lizard nearby masquerading as a gnome. Lizzie is now coming to the party and then it was off to find........ what not you again. I kicked you out cause you were causing such a ruckus.......... "oh but please help me I hate the bush and this grass is making me so itchy, I'm longing for the ocean!!!"
Get in the car and do not speak to me!!!!

I am at John Oxley Reserve not far from “Lizzy On The Run”. I am facing east towards the ocean under a large tree, wishing that I was closer to the sea. So come on you buccaneers take me onwards to plunder and pillage as I have finished off jkcourtz’s rum!

15-Jan-11
A wise old man from the sea, but will have to watch him and Bill the Booze Hound don’t get into the rum tonight! They did behave themselves at lunch today.

15-Jan-11
No luck for us early this afternoon despite a fairly good search. I suspect it's been gnabbed as the two nearby behind the letterbox weren't around either.

Geopirate has one mean attitude. After causing many disturbances last night and trying to get the other 6 drunk, with his hidden stash of rum, I confiscated the bottle and he was not happy. He drew his sword and tried to slash my ankles, so I punched him in the nose. That subdued him for a while, he even shed a tear and promised to behave.
Unfortunately, that was short lived as he jumped out of the car and clambered up a tree, thinking it was the ships mast. I decided to leave him there, maybe someone will hear his ruckus.

13-Jan-11
He he he he...... gnome gnapped...... get in the car!!! The pirate obliged especially when I told him there was a party going on in the boot with lots of rum and pretty gals!!!! When he saw I lied and that 4 of his mates were bound and gagged in the big red bag... he swore he'd get even.... ah yeah right Geopirate!!! You seem to forget I'm bigger than you!!!! Now shut up and get in the boot.
