Description

A virtual dinosaur was placed at this location for National Science Week 2011 - it will apparently be there at least until the end of August.  You will need a smartphone, the current version of the  Layar app and the Jurassic Science Week layer to see the virtual dinosaur.

This is an artisitic area, so to log this cache, post a photo of someone roleplaying fending off a dinosaur.  The dinosaur may or may not be visible in your photo.

You never know whom you may run into here.

Ones again Rex was picking plants.

I attempted to fend him off with my finger.

Then I ran off.

Mr T found this dino reading the nearby information boards. Hope he finds this area as interesting as I do. TFTC

What a DNF? Well someone's bound to do it eventually I guess. We arrived, we hunted. Fresh from three dinosaur finds we reckoned we had the strategy down pat. Curse you diatryma, where are you hiding? Of course we neglected to read the description carefully enough. Clearly this dino has been buried by developments but we forgot to photograph our virtual battle for the gallery. Rats!

This was a fun little virtual cache where I found these with mummmy, Jessica and caughtatwork. Thanks for this cache here today.

Out with the family on a week in Hobart and before lunch we decided to go and find some dinosaurs. I remember when these were first published and was very envious that they were so far away. Today we loaded up the app, grabbed the layer and we were off to see what we could find. We found a lot today and they were all very cool and fun to catch. Thanks for this series of virtual caches with a difference. This cache we found especially fun to do, pretending to fend off the virtual dinosaurs.

Surprised to find these virtual dinosaurs still roaming the streets of Hobart. Today we managed to capture their image and grab a smilie. Thanks DDTs for our dinosaur encounter we enjoyed the experience.

Have been wanting to do these virtuals for a long time and today was the day technology and the dinosaur gods aligned. Had lots of fun. TFTV

This dinosaur was camera shy and kept walking away. I chased him from Henry Jones as he headed for the bridge. Good fun! TFTC

Another Dinosaur find on my last day in Hobart ... and my last dino find. Great series this, and a fun way to see the town. TFTC

After a bit of a break, it was back onto the trail of the dinosaurs. This might not have been such a great idea because I was attacked by a bunch of three behind the Art School at 19:15 but despite the disparity in size (and weight Shocked ), I was soon able the fend them off and move on to safer climes.

Thanks DDTs.

This little dino even visited us in the car! Must have known I had no change for the meter and couldn't stick around long!

The coordinates had Dino and I here to take the photo...constructing these as caches was a brilliant idea DDT's, even though I don't have the correct gear to see the virtual dinosaurs in the flesh, so to speak. The photos that others have taken are amazing, and Dino and I had a nice walk around anyway.

This little cutie wasn't quite where expected. A previous log with reference to the start of a CP cache that caused me all sorts of grief had this fellow found in no time. Love these dinosaur virtuals. They are such a great idea. TFTC.

Once before, I had gone round and round the courtyards and buildings looking for this little guy - this time, I found hime quickly as he was pondering the start of a Cheesy Pigs cache!

Was with Swampy when we found this so check out his photo Smile

This bloke took a fair amount of time to find as we ended up doing a circuit through the the middle of the buildings. And Tim Tam had to dodge the traffic to get in the picture.

We brought our pet Diatryma for a visit

16-Oct-11
I don't have an appropriate device for running the required application, nor do I have a pet dinosaur to bring with me. I hope that a photo taken in the appropriate location showing lack of dinosaur activity is sufficient for logging a find on this cache.

I was there for ages the layer app didn't want to work properly. Finally found the dinosaur, however could only get him from the back due to muggles.

Hi DDTs
Boy did I have trouble with this character. It took me three days to get him to come up on the radar. I'm sure that they move around sometimes.
The first day I searched at the co-ords but couldn't get any white buttons. The next day, I even went behind and inside the Art Hotel, but still no luck. On they way out of daid establishment, Julia Gillard was walking in - so passed by within two feet of each other.
Today, I'd been and found "PaisleyBeard's Treasure" and thought I'd give it another go on the way back to the Peninsula. Hell, it scared the ... out of me when it popped up on the screen as nothing seemed to be showing.
Luckily, everything worked quickly and I got the shot I needed.
TFTC and cheers OldSaint.

Found this one on a second visit and he ran around away from the camera and trapping him in a photo shoot was very difficult. He disappeared, he ran 90 degrees away from his first location. It was really find and games finding a getting the photo.

Also the location closer to the school of art than the location given. We got our photo in the court yard in front of the school of art.

Thank you for the cache
