An important aspect of being the CO of an earthcache is the responsibility to monitor the logs, respond to finders and address any issues which arise.
As the CO has not responded to my request for an update and has not rectified the issues with this earthcache, we can only assume that the earthcache is not being monitored and has been abandoned.
Consequently, it will be archived in order to open the area for someone else.

This area remains fenced off. Work on re landscaping has not progressed, probably due to the lock down restrictions in place. Consequently this EC must remain disabled until further notice.
June 2020: The area is still fenced off and redevelopment work is unfinished, probably due to COVID-19 lock down rules.
We headed to Lakes Entrance today to see what was there. We had planned a walk but the smoke and haze meant the conditions were not great. After a day if exploring locally we headed past this cache on the way home. It was really interesting to read the information (learnt something new here) and I jotted down the answers before admiring the view that had somewhat appeared. I bet it is great when you can actually see it. Answers have been sent to the CO. TFTC
Part of a driving holiday, staying tonight at Lakes Entrance, so a couple of touristy cache stops. Including here. A very interesting sign/information.
Thanks GSA GeoEducation for bringing me to this location.

Well well well. Out of site out of mind. Hard to believe there are so many oil rigs out there. A beautiful view from the lookout. TFTC
We really need oil for caching but we really don’t want it taken and spilt here or anywhere! Such a beautiful spot.
Found on another epic caching loop with H423L which included the St Arnaud mega and many other magnificent Australian locations.
Thanks GSA GeoEducation and clear skies from TeamAstro. ️ Cache the planet!

Found with Let Them Eat Cache (which will now be our joint geocaching name once I retire this membership). I asked her what she wanted for her birthday, and she said "to be taken geocaching". This was the furthest place we had to get to for a Wherigo we are doing, so we stayed overnight in Sale & came to Lakes Entrance this morning. Found a few caches whilst in the area & loved the view from the lookout here. LetTEC sent answers to CO.
Having driven up this way from Melbourne for my birthday ("I don't want a present for my birthday, I just want to go geocaching"), we had ear-marked this EC as the views are spectacular. After stopping in Lakes Entrance, we visited the magnificent stretch of sand that is Ninety Mile Beach. It was blowing a gale, so we retreated to find some physical caches, then headed for home. Stopping for this EC, there was no-one in sight. I was slow to get out of the car, and in the meantime, a small coach of school kids arrived & made a beeline for the viewing platform & the info-plaque I needed to access (see photo 1)! Luckily they didn't stay long, so it was a quick gather of information whilst taking in the views. Thanks for the geo-lesson!

This was a surprise addition to our caching day, on the way west out of Lakes Entrance we saw a lookout but were too fast to stop, so stopped here instead. Very glad that we did, without this cache I would not have known the history of oil and gas exploration in the area.

We found the answers to the earthcache while visiting the GZ on a trip to Lakes Entrance from our home in WA. We really enjoyed the scenery from this lookout, water everywhere!
Thanks

**This was 1 of 16 caches that was found by me on the 10th of 16 caching days here in Australia. Which also was the 47th of 75 days that my travels thru southeast Asia and Oceania would last.**
Well, this was an un-clear day with some wind and drizzles. So we looked for the answers and then returned to the warmth inside the rental.

*Together with Ingabo, jsson and Sivun I would spend 16 days in Australia. Our journey started in Melbourne and ended in Sydney. After that I continued to New Zealand while the others headed back towards Melbourne.*
*All in all I did manage to find 263 caches, 9 types, 3 new months and many more statistical fillers.*

We were passing and called in to this Lookout just for the view. I was delighted to see this Earthcache was available and with questions I understand. The answers have been sent to the CO. It's a day of contrasts, with a visit into the mountains (literally, going down the cave at Buchan) and heading on to Raymond Island with the hope of seeing koalas.
Have sent the answers to this cache to the CO. We did this cache as we entered Lakes Entrance, a town Aussie Mary had been to many years ago, but had no memories of.

Fascinating EC here. Not only picturesque but now, having read the cache description I now have some knowledge of Victorian history vis-a-vis oil exploration. Thanks for the scenic stop off on what is turning out to be a very long drive.
A road trip east instead of west! nirgalagrin and I had been planning a trip out over to Mt. Gambier but given the forecast of rain, rain and more rain all through the weekend we scrambled to replan the trip aiming for the other side of the state. As it happened we went a little further than just the border and explored the NSW south-eastern coast. Thanks to all the cache owners for placing and maintaining the caches found along the way.

What was to have been a quick weekend trip to Melbourne to accompany leafotwind on his 3,000th cache find (since I had also recently completed the Victorian Premiers whereigo ) became an 8 day trip because there was a CITO [^] at Traralgon the next day which then led to Mallacoota and the Snowy Mountain Highway [^] since I couldn't legally use the Great Alpine Road as I didn't have snow chains because the boring freeway back to Melbourne and then back to Shepparton didn't sound like fun
The first day, I met my sister in Bendigo as she waited for her semi to be unloaded and reloaded, so we went op shopping in the meantime[:X] From there it was off to Melbourne and the group find of the Victorian Premiers whereigo which had taken me to many spots in Victoria [^] Then the group slogged our way up a slippery, muddy slope [|)][xx(] to get a couple of simple drive by 4 x 4 caches (when the tracks are open) before caching on into the night
I made a find on a previous DNF at Moe then it was off to Clean Up a Creek at Traralgon [^] followed by finding some bloody good caches (both containers and reasons for placement) around the area with leafotwind, NoWorries andAlphaDeltaIndigo [:X], chatting to Crisp image as the group found Wherever I Lay My Hat before Rex and I left the group, walking in the Crinigan Road Bushland Reserve at dusk[^], seeing a huge Dr21 dredger once used for coal mining and now placed at Morwell, finding a tiny grave in the middle of a shopping area , finding my 1st 3D printed cache container and then it was off to the Lakes Entrance area and wandering out on the peninsula[^]
Seeing old RAAF airfields and radio bunkers, seeing tiny country towns and meeting some great people (including an almost muggle woman and her children in Mallacoota where she had previously looked for 1 cache and who may now get into geocaching properly [^]), seeing the sun rise while surrounded by kangaroos and standing on the eastern coast of Vic and chatting with Rollmatrix throughout my time in Mallacoota and Genoa
Spending a few hours chatting with a lovely truckie, Michael [:X], who was on a wood chip run to Canberra as we traversed the countryside in the dark (after I had apologised for slowing down his fully laden rig as Harry crawled his way up a hill ) then I pulled into Cooma for a break and an EC and also found a cache, Southern Cloud, about the aircraft accident and then accidentally ended up at another memorial cache, Southern Comfort, Southern Cloud or Southern Storm, later on in the trip
Seeing brumbies amongst the snow along the edge of the road at night in the mountains in NSW [^], seeing a thermal pool early in the morning with steam rising from it in the cold air and water plants growing up from the sandy bottom [^], seeing the grave of the alleged Man from Snowy River while finding the multi The Man from Snowy River - HCPPP [^] and then chatting to SciFiRulz who I managed to sneak in a quick visit with before heading home and finding The Highest Railway Station on the way
Over the 8 days there was 9 DNFs (although I did manage to find a few on my 2nd attempts ), 1 CITO event attended and a total of 111 cache finds including 3 FTFs
As I am about 8 months behind in logging, I'm resorting to template logs to catch up.
My heartfelt thanks to the COs who have placed some tricky, funny, exercise required, scary, interesting and devious caches in some amazing spots! [^]
Rex and I have had some amazing adventures and enjoyed some incredible moments thanks to this fantastic hobby

Confession time: I made a complete rookie error and pulled into the wrong spot, trying to collect information from the completely wrong information boards. I should know better, 4 years into geocaching, but no. In the end, I made my way to the correct gz and found that someone had installed a box for children to stand on. I absolutely took advantage of this, being the size of a 10 year old. Well, a short 10 year old.
The information was gathered, the view admired and off I drove on my way home. Logging in anticipation of the go-ahead from the CO. TFTC GSA GeoEducation.

Found on day one of our week long trip up to Sydney. Lucky today with great weather and great views.
Wir schreiben Ende 2017 bzw. Anfang 2018.
Alles in allem waren es unfassbar schöne, lehrreiche wie entspannende Wochen Down Under!
In short in English:
I had the chance, to get to Australia with stops in Abu Dhabi at the beginning and Dubai to the end of my travel. So I started on 26th Dez. 2017 from Frankfurt to Abu Dhabi. It´s so hard to summarize all the impressions, cause there where so many of them. (Maybe that´s the reason, why I´m logging so late, but that is another long long story [xx(]).
After leaving Abu Dhabi I finished the long flight in Sydney where my muggle-friends already have waited. Together we traveled from Sydney via Melbourne, the 12-apostels and Canberra back again to Sydney. On the way we found some special geocaches. Without the boxes we wouldn´t found the scenic beaches and bays, Im really thankful for this boxes! Also I was able to find some special old boxes - that was amazing to find a box hidden at 05/2000. At the end I found 4 boxes hidden in year 2000 - wow!! [8)] It was impressive! It was amazing! It was such a perfect time! Dear GeoGeckoEd - thank you hiding this box!! It was a puzzle piece of my great time down under!
That made fun - favorite!
An dieser Stelle sei GeoGeckoEd fürs Auslegen, Warten und hoffentlich für etwas Verständnis/Nachsehen herzlich gedankt [^]

What a day! We visited this earthcache today in the rain and wind of the rain event.
It was easy enought to gather the required information, but harder to write it down while struggling with an umbrella and all the wind and rain. The view was not extensive today and it was good to get back to the geo vehicle and try to dry off a bit. The answers to the questions have been sent to the CO. Thanks go to GSA GeoEducation for creating this cache.

The tenth find of the day. This was the final day of our mega weekend adventure. We needed to get back from Labertouche to Canberra by the end of the day, which would entail an 8 hour plus drive. This didn't include all the caches we were planning on stopping by. Firstly, we had to back track a little to Nar Nar Goon though as I needed a photo with the sign for my mates back home. A letterbox here, a large there and we were on our way. Grabbed a few large caches and even reached a new milestone of 100 earthcaches! Thanks to all the COs who made today possible.
This was an absolutely beautiful view from here, spent some time enjoying it. Then I realised that I still needed to do this cache. It didn't take long to collect my answers which Loci612 sent off to the CO. TFTE GeoGeckoEd and GSA GeoEducation!

Today was the last day of our Alexandra Mega trip! Mostly driving between Drouin - Canberra as we had lots of distance and hours to cover but we still managed to squeeze 17 caches in which was more than planned! We left the accomodation at 8:30am and didn't get back until late at night. Lots of large caches, a few Earthcaches, county's along the way, easy but high DT combo's and a few multi's were the goal for this days trek Was a great weekend away with Cankid and at the mega event but was good to finally be back in Canberra by the end of it all! Was a great detour along the coastal route home, a highway we had both never travelled!

We were planning on stopping for some fish n' chips in Lakes Entrance and spotted this Earthcache on the way in. We thought we may as well do it as the views looked great and the questions straight forward!
An awesome location, I dreamed of caches out on those islands in the distance but a quick check of the map and I was disappointed to see none Theres some further up closer to Paynesville though so not all hope was lost!

Today was the last day of our Alexandra Mega trip! Mostly driving between Drouin - Canberra as we had lots of distance and hours to cover but we still managed to squeeze 17 caches in which was more than planned! We left the accomodation at 8:30am and didn't get back until late at night. I’m staying with family at their place on Lake Washington and decided to go to Lakes Entrance. We saw the viewpoint coming up (they’re not geocachers, but nice all the same) as I always check out where we stop it was a nice surprise to find an EC here.
It’s a beautiful place with interesting information.

After a family holiday in Merimbula we were on the long journey home. I managed to convince the family for one last stop off on our way out of Lakes Entrance to take in the views and of course to gather the information for this cache.
Amazing views from the platform and the figures were reasonably straight forward, thanks for the cache GSA GeoEducation and the excuse to stop and take in the scenery.

14734. Found during a long weekend caching run down through the Bombala / Genoa / Mallacoota / Cann River / Orbost / Lakes Entrance / Bairnsdale regions with specimenX.
A long weekend caching plan was hatched with specimenX to head down to Victoria for 4 days of caching and camping. Had a fantastic time driving around enjoying the scenery, camping at various locations, plus the huge number of caches to be found. Day Three was here, and we packed up again and hit the road. Next find of the day. I really enjoy Earthcaches. I always learn something and they are in great places. We gathered the required information which has been sent to the CO.
Thanks to GSA GeoEducation for the Earthcache !!

An afternoon exploring with the family and we were treated with some magical views. So amazing what lies just off the coast here. Hubby knew a fair bit about it already but I've learnt plenty. Answers have been emailed. Many thanks for the cache. Adding a selfie as proof of being there!
What a great view! It was worth it to put the money in as I couldn't see that far. Muggle Hubby was able to use the zoom function on his camera and we came up with the same answer.
Logging in anticipation of approval.
We have been here before on a bus trip, but that was in our pre-Geocaching days. So we came here again today and enjoyed the visit even more than our previous one.

After attending the 2 months to Alexandra Mega event Woz and I decided to drive to Lakes Entrance as neither of us have been here before - what a beautiful area!
Woo hoo, what a weekend.... Adelaide, Ballarat, Bairnsdale, Berwick, Geelong, St Arnaud ...3 events, loads of chats and catch ups with buddies, laughter, silly stories, hugs, kisses, promises and future plans for 1:1 hookups and groups adventures..... you really get to know who your true friends are.
PLUS a couple of big bags of rubbish collected.
I LOVE geocaching and all that it has value added to my day-to-day life!
Thanks so much for the earth cache!

This was a great spot for an earthcache thanks, easy and with a great view does it get any better.
It's another day in what will be an almost three month journey for me and micaparamedic with new things to see along the way. Today we started by finding an earthcache right outside our motel, after which we took time to go to the old train trestle and Point Dawson on the Silt Jetty. We saw lots of kangaroos, black swans, a few pelicans and a few strange caterpillar type creatures.
We started our travels when micaparamedic arrived at my place in late July, visiting the Yukon and Northwest Territories in Canada, attending the Mega APE event in Washington, and camping in Oregon to be in the direct path of a total solar eclipse. There were other shorter trips to find special caches and see geologically related spots of interest before we headed to Australia.
Now he is showing me his country, and it's incredible. My bucket list had included walking around Uluru, and now I can cross that off. I also wanted to see some Australian outback, and now that is also crossed off. There are a few more things planned on this journey that will be crossed off as well, one of them this evening. Dreams are coming true on what will be just under 3 months of traveling together.
Thanks for an easy earthcache right outside our motel.

I absolutely LOVE Lakes Entrance, so took the time for a few caches today while visiting. TFTC.
The four of us enjoyed the great view and cache. Clever questions. Thanks for bringing us here.
Found on a one month road trip around Australia. Dark now, but trusty geotorch to the rescue. Probably attracted attention from the hotel across the way. TFTC

A lovely Gippsland day for a bit of a wander along the coast
And from up here I could see oil rigs !! [:o]
I had forgotten about the oil and gas industry operations since me last visit to this spot
But here was a good reminder at a spot I have visited before [^]
The trees are starting to grow a bit and block the views !!
I could still spot a couple of oil rigs out there through the haze
Answers to the questions gathered,
information about the 'invisible rocks' digested,
I have sent me answers to the CO,
and await permission to claim the 'smilie'
TFTEC !!
Bugger waiting for permission,
no replies had !!

Two weeks in Australia for holidays with Kirdec.
Day 12. Time to come back to Melbourne. First day, we drived from Sydney to Narooma, last day from Narooma to Lakes Entrance, and this day from Lakes Entrance to Traralgon.
Of course, we do some caches on the way.
We spent the morning at Lakes Entrance, especially after solving some sudokus
On the program, a beautiful walk along the water, multis and tradis on one side, mysteries on the other, or the opposite;)
And it is even on the beach that we will finish decoding a certain sudoku samurai!
The afternoon will be reserved for caches rather in drive mode until our destination.
Mostly, the caches were found without difficulty, thanks to all the owners for their work.
Greetings from France.
----------
Two earthcaches at Lakes Entrances, we can't miss them.
The second one has a really beautfiful lookout

At last I was able to stop and do this cache whilst the boys were off trying to sink the boat out the entrance. Oh sorry, I meant to say, catching fish. So after dropping the boat trailer off, I headed out of town to pick up a couple of caches. This is number 1. I have stood at this lookout sooooo often and taken photos and I don't think that I have once realised that some of the destinations are oil/gas rigs. My cousin actually works on one of them. She is some specialised chemist and a friends husband has been involved in the design of a couple of them. I must thank the CO for actually making me stop and take in what I was reading/looking at. Thanks for bringing me here and thanks for the cache.
Australia Day, ‘Straya Day, a day off work before my normal 2 day weekend called for a 3 day road trip. End of day one and I’m logging my finds from my motel room with some cold beers, true Aussie style? Dunno, I’m a Kiwi.
First trip to NSW, 8.5 hour drive to reach my motel in Eden, but got a good number of caches on the way.
The 7th stop here, and wow, what a view!! I think I could make out a smudge of an oil rig. Answers have been sent to the CO.
Thanks for bringing me here GeoGeckoEd, stunning.

Since moving from New Zealand I have been enjoying the area, exploring and finding caches. I have got a nice streak going and hoping to let it run for as long as possible. This may or may not become easier now that I have found a job but I’m still currently staying with my brother (stinky tom) and his family which includes my nephew (stinky bob).
A big thanks goes out to all the cachers and cache owners without whom this lifestyle would not be possible.
The caches I’ve found in Australia so far have for the most part all been in great condition. Keep up the good work. Everyone likes finding a well maintained cache with a dry logbook.

After visiting Well Well Well One a couple of days ago we decided we should grab this one, too. What a great view! Thanks for the interesting lesson. Greetings from Washington DC, USA!
My last task in Lakes Entrance is to have a visit at the looking out and solve this EC.

Our current visit to Australia had been in the planning for over a year with the very significant help and advice from friends who live in Melbourne. The original plan was for a 2 month visit, but as things progressed we just couldn't help extending our trip to the full 90 days allowed on our visas - after all it's a big country and so much to see and do, especially with our favourite pastimes being birding, hiking and of course geocaching! Our journey started with our arrival at Perth airport followed by a day cycling around Rottnest Island before travelling on to Adelaide where we met up with our friends. We then continued on to spend some time on Kangaroo Island, before heading to Melbourne via Goolwa, Strathalbyn, Coorong, Mount Gambier, Cape Bridgewater, the Grampians National Park, Port Campbell, Cape Otway and Lorne, cramming in as much as possible on route. The second leg of our journey was a fabulous 9 days in Tasmania. Having then returned to Melbourne we set off on the third leg of our journey, which is to Sydney via Wilson’s Promontory, Lakes Entrance (where we are at present), Mallacoota, Pambula Beach, Thredbo, Canberra and Fitzroy Falls. After a visit to Sydney we will travel on to the Gold Coast, then after spending a few days in the nearby mountainous birding hotspots, followed by an overnight trip to Fraser Island, we will fly from Brisbane to Cairns, visiting yet more good birding sites. We will then drive up to Cape Tribulation before heading back south again to Port Douglas and a day out on the Great Barrier Reef. We then return to Cairns for the flight to Alice Springs, where we will hire a 4x4 camper and set off for a week on the circuit to and from Kings Canyon and Ayers Rock. We then fly to Darwin from where we will spend the last two weeks of our holiday making our way to Broome via Kakadu, Cooinda, Katherine Gorge, Kununarra, Lake Argyle, Emma Gorge, the Bungle Bungle’s and Fitzroy Crossing. Our last two nights in Australia will be spent in Broome before we fly back to Perth, from where we will connect with the flight all the way back home to Zimbabwe via South Africa. We already know we can't wait to return!
We visited this site first thing in the morning when nobody was around (we are a team of two). We enjoyed the view and then took note of all that was required in order to answer the questions. Answers now sent to the CO - thanks so much for the cache!
