I was headed up to Port Augusta for a kayak event but somehow afterwards I forgot to stop driving.
1,700kms later and after 83 smileys including 1 FTF were locus cache'd, 1 event attended and sadly 7 DNFs and a dead roo, I arrived back home with both the camera and the phone full of pictures of this amazing country in which we live .
There were many parts which fitted the hint but the two most obvious, and also the two which still did what the hint suggested that they should, produced only a dead huntsman spider (which mean geocacher killed the poor thing[?] ) and no cache.
I later checked with the last confirmed finder and I had been looking in the right place however they had found it in an elevation challenged position and replaced it at a slightly higher elevation within the hiding spot.
Have a hunch that it may have found its way into the tiny crevasse between the outer wall and inner lining and my fingers just could not get a grasp down there
Also I had hundreds of tiny ants crawling around to contend with (thankfully too small to bite with any power as they got into places no self respecting ant should ever be ) and lots of very smelly water laying around too, both compliments of the massive recent rainfalls, so I ended up accepting a DNF and moving on.
This also ended up being my last cache for the day as I had a fellow geocacher to meet in Jamestown and we talked so much that from here to Port Augusta became a straight through trip with no cache stops.

Life's too short apparently, so I embarked on a cache run from Crystal Brook to Spalding. 3 roos, 5 rabbits, 24 finds and quite a few DNF's (though that's expected on an unexpected warm night in the country in December). I'm pretty sure I found it, based on the clue and what other logs said, but there was a giant spider guarding. Shame, as I ended up having no success in Spalding proper tonight. Dang!
smallest cache ive found so far. reading logs helped a lot. rehidden as found. TFTC
Couldn't find it last time but today hidden amongst the rust I got it. Thanks
We came, we opened, we didn't find :/
Looked in the obvious spots, then all the less obvious ones we thought too.
Sadly, no luck.
With Littlevicky and Timotatus out for the weekend up the Heysen Trail.

Thought maybe it's not here but on a second look at the obvious spot the cache was in hand. Found with the st clair clan.
Photographed Mrs.k on the Fordson ... 2 old relics together. (it's ok, she rarely reads my logs).

Found this cache whilst stopping in this town for a cuppa, passed this way on several previous visits to the region never stopping to read about its history.
Noted that the log needs replacing , placed a small piece of paper this time.

I looked and looked and even tried to open unopenable things. Next time I will try again.
Only one I managed to find in Spalding... not my town for geocaching I'm afraid.
Our last find in town while going towards crystal brook. Geodad retrieved and found this cache, and also noted that the logbook is full. We didn't have a replacement log on board unfortunatly. TFTC
Checked out the tractor, no need for tyres, if you get the wrong clue, you will be greeted by a Red Back Spider, Nice cache placement, although the log needs replacing, because it's full, Also checked out the old Building. TFTHSL.
Glad there was a hint.
B said “This opens, but there’s nothing in here.”.
I decided to have another look (or feel, to be precise) and the little devil was in hand.
We used the last spot on the log scroll.
Interesting structure nearby.
Thanks matmob and pg.

MICRO MUCH? this took us forever we searched the compartment 10 times b4 findin it
Amazing what you find when you persevere.....looking at the ruin how interesting it would be to see it in it's heyday! TFTC
After spending some time finding 'Little Toot Toot,' we came over to give this one a go .
After we read this was a micro, were able to quickly make the find [8].
TNLNSL.
Thanks Matmob & PG.

I am a genius! Well, not really, but I found a magnetic micro on a metal structure, something I have ALWAYS struggled with. Hint was very useful, but I was focussing on the fuel cap on the tractor for a LONG time because of it. It DOESN'T open!
Thanks matmob!
Thanks matmob!
Found the sneaky well hidden cache, signed log and explored the nearby station TFTC
After a dnf at the nearby cache we headed off here not feeling very confident when we saw what it was on but today luck was on our side as we had the cache in hand in minutes of starting the search, very unusual for us and thanks for showing us this part of town
Knew it was there somewhere, Ms Crapper-Mrs Dolly never to be beaten by something so tiny.Excellent hide
This one had us scratching our heads and almost giving up but persistance paid off. Found with the Crapper crew
Found at 3.45.
Took us a little while but hubby finally located the sneaky hinding spot.

Nice and easy find by Ms Bushies2...went and had a look at the old building nearby...very interesting to see how small the house was in those days. Thanks matmob.
Found with a lucky swipe of the hand as I hadnt realised this was a %$%#@% nano!! Thanks matmob!!!
One of our first missions ..... Sadly not successful this time!! Will keep searching!!
In the district for a couple of days, Rocky Glen Grommets are ticking off some caches - the log sheet is all but full - will need replacing very soon.
Found on our way home from the Jolly Jamestown June Long weekend SA Annual Event.
Not an easy find, but we got there eventually.

It's pretty funny that while we were searching for the cache down the road Mr P. stopped a passing geocacher to ask for a hint on this one ~ bwhahahahaha ~ that was before I enlightened him to the fact that I help place and jointly own this cache with matmob [^] Talk about a red faces act ~ you can cache if you want to !
We looked for ages and ages with Silver Snitch. Eventually reread the cache notes, realised it was a nano and Whalla we had a find. We became very close and personal with the machinery! Thanks for this interesting hide! (The log paper is nearly full. Really needs renewing.)
Love an old tractor.
Postie took some pictures and gave us a history lesson.

As we had not read the clue, we were extremely lucky to have found this one very quickly. Mr TiedyeSmileys had touched it and thought it was a snail and moved on a bit before the penny dropped and he went back and got it.

On way home from JJJ.Even with the hint this was tricky...we looked and looked and ahhh it is a nano!
We seemed to be stalking a family around the town, and everywhere that we wanted to cache, they were. In the end we couldn't keep waiting so had to leave this one.
Stopped on way up to Jamestown, in the dark. Thought I couldnt see it for the darkness.
Neglected to ask for a tip.
Stopped again on way home, only to have the same result in the daylight!
Unfortunately I did not know I was looking for a nano as stated by a previous finder today.
So it will sit till next time we are up this way...
Thanks for the history nontheless.

On the way to the Jolly Jamestown June Weekend with Honeysucker grabbing caches as we went. Took us 3 times looking in the obvious place to grab this one. TFTC.
Persistance paid off, found the little bugger sharing space with a big spider, so retrieved container carefully, signed the log a replaced next to the nieghbour. Then went over the road to buy some ammo to control vermin back on the farm.tftc
Had a look over and the last log in my GPS was a DNF so gave up as it turns out might have been a bit premature. Will try it again next time I pass through.
I couldn't find anything else that could hide a cache so we called it quits... Will try again another day...
Thanks matmob and PG for the cache

Today's drive was from Mildura to Port Augusta enroute to Uluru. A quick little pitstop, I don't normally like these ones but the hint was helpful. Interesting town with the relics around the place, not counting me
Grrrr, No luck and No luck raising PG on the Bat phone either..
PS.... A Nano out here.....Do I even try to define the logic???????????????????????????

A quick drive by on the way home from a flyin visit to the riverland
Hmmm... A Nano...
Still a reasonably easy find...
Was lying in the “bottom†in the rust and dirt, don’t think it was supposed to be there!
You could hide a small lunchbox here

Finally found. Our first attempt, on 22nd February 2009, was lengthy yet not fruitful and we came to the conclusion that this one must have become MIA. After seeing that it had been found recently decided to look again on a "flying trip past". We put our hands on it straight away in exactly the same place we had looked earlier. Log had only been signed by a few. TFTC (or replacement one???)
A quick find on the way to Clare today. Had previously looked in June and couldn't find it, but found it easily this time. It was exactly where we thought it should have been the first time.
We found this one fairly easily with the help on the hint, but this is the first of this type for us. We loved it - thanks!
had a look on the way to Arkaroola no joy, so decided to have another look on the way home with a bit more info to hand, easy pick up with right info, Geo-grandkids couldn't believe the size.
Found on Day 4 of The Bucket Trip travelling from Renmark to Port Pirie. Lady Morris disturbed the little fella feeling around and then in the race back to the car realised we had left the GPSr sitting there. Growls all round. TFTC
Had a good search of the old girl but didn't have any joy. Will watch and learn. Thx matmob and PG
This cache was found while riding a mountian bike 900kms over two weeks from Adelaide to Blinman along the Mawson Trail. Showed my father the picture today - instant recognition of the tractor make!!
Found this cache on a trip to Adelaide from Wollongong via Broken Hill then back again through Griffith and Canberra. The date of our visit might be off. TFTC
A handsome old specimen, as was the handsome huntsman spider skin guarding the cache to scare the unwary. TFTC.
While visiting Spalding for the Rodeo thought we could get this cache. Tweety2 was sitting back laughing as she had found before. Me was not sticking my had in there as there was a 'BIG' Spider. Man to the rescue. TFTC
Found@15:45 after exploring the Bundaleer Reservoir area and placing our new cache "Aqueduct!", now on our way home again. No issues with spiders & didn't need a stick! TFTC & Cheers 'scargoes (P&Fs Escape!)
Sneaky, sneaky, sneaky - this one required a stick - not sticking our hands in there....ewww [xx(] TFTC
So terribly cold and windy here. It might take a bit of work to get the backpackers' sorted. SL TFTC
Found a big spider too. TNLN. What's with the Coles sign on the house nearby??? TFTC
Number 7 on my way to the Flinders. Not keen on the big spider needed assistance to retrieve it. TFTC but not the spider!!
