Had a good look at the obvious spots where the clue and name took us...but no joy...last few coming up short on this one...might need a follow up from owner! Great little history lesson though!
Looked for nearly half an hour.... no avail... found an obvious spot but nothing there
Good find, I found this a few years ago but was unaware of GEO so I was quick to go back when I started to find caches
Today I was caching with brisal5 on our way to an event at Skipton caves, as we walked to GZ I could not pass up the opportunity to 'stop and smell the roses', I am not at all sure what I enjoyed the most, the roses or the cache, both had their own charm. SL TFTC
We were heading to Skipton for the caves event. Had overnight accommodation for three booked at Ararat when suddenly number 3 had a better offer. So we called through Kaniva and kidnapped half of Muff1 who had the weekend free whilst the other half had to work. No point in wasting the booking.
We decided to take the scenic route through the Grampians and grab a few caches on the way. [^]
One last stop before getting to our overnight digs. A quick find in the only logical place it could be. Thanks wombat warriors 2.

What a fascinating read. Thanks for bringing us here. Tom Wills was certainly a huge character and pivotal in the creation of Australian rules football.
On the way home after a great week in The Grampians. Cheers!

Tftc. Container needs replacing. Log has been shoved in previously and broken top of container. Mended to the best of our ability. Quick stop on a family day trip.
We walked 4kms to find this, what a lovely spot! Cache is all dry and happy. Now for the 4kms back! TFTC!
Staying at Lake Fyans and with it being my birthday the wife gave me a leave pass to go caching with eighthknox for the morning. This was the first stop and was a quick find although we did stop to read the info boards TFTC
Having drove past this spot on the way, both nanton and I wanted To return to stop at the birth place of Aussie rules. So a cache run to start the morning and on our way back to what was an interesting town and a nice monument. Tftc
cache needs to be replaced as lid broken, and log falling out,
maybe use eclipse tin?

Great place to stop for a quick drive by pick up,
if it were not for this cache, we would missed this little bit of history of the area.

I was out for a big caching run today. Not many caches found during the long 18 hour day on the road, but the quality and location of many of them was fantastic. An early morning start and I was on the road just after 5:00 am, first heading north of the city before making my way west through Ballarat to Beaufort, Ararat and then on to some hiking in the Grampians before heading back to Ballarat for some tree climbing, subterranean exploration and night caching then shooting south to Geelong to finish off the run before heading for home on the opposite side of the bay. It was a long day, the weather was great and the caching and the places it took me was amazing.
Heading back from the Grampians towards Ballarat I stopped by here to find this cache. A nice quick park and grab. Thanks for the hide.

Roadtrip to Ararat for 2x Events on this freezing cold day. becca85, boo09 and I headed out with GemmaSistema. TFTC
Found with Gemmasiemensma, neisha07 & boo09 on a day trip to Ararat for Geo-events. A super quick find which is always good on a day they tell us is so cold it breaks records! Unfortunately with this one, super quick equated to the container being on the ground. We bagged the log for a bit of protection and replaced as well as we could. This one definitely needs a container replacement asap. Always good to learn new facts which we did indeed with the location of this cache. TFTC
A day of caching in Ararat with my two geokids (aged 4 & 6). This arvo we headed out with becca85, boo09 & neisha07 for some fun. Really interesting story here. Great place to highlight. Many thanks for the cache
Found while trekking around some small country towns. Moyston is a lovely place with. Friendly locals. We recommend to stop awhile.
BTW, the lid is broken and we attached it with insulation tape. With care it could be used a couple of times.

Off on a caching run from Warrnambool to Ararat with Happy Pants. We managed 40 finds for the day. We diverted a bit to get this cache. I liked the work thats gone into the information boards etc. The cache was located easily. But the container is broken and lid is difficult to keep on. We didn't have anything to fix or replace it, so the CO will need to take a look. TFTC wombat warriors2.
Found with Yoshi Warriors on our way to Ararat today on a caching run going through some new areas and towns that we don't come through that often (or ever). Thanks wombat warriors2 for the cache and for bringing us to this interesting little area. A great read particularly if football is your thing. The cache was quickly located and signed but will need a little tlc of even a rubber band as a make shift repair.
I found this awesome cache with Ostara74 while we were on holiday in the area. What a brilliant hide! We enjoyed the hunt for this cache a lot. The local area was very interesting and a great place to visit. Thank you to wombat warriors2 for their efforts of making and maintaining this cache. Thanks also for bringing us to this amazing spot. I love that caching brings me to new and usually relatively unknown places that I would never even know about, let alone find, if I wasn’t hunting for a cache. This very cool cache was my 1526th find.
Found together with Pathfinder24 on a sunny day.
After a third night of camping in the Grampians it was unfortunately already time to head home. On our way we stopped a few places to look for caches. After reading some of the interesting history we started the search and quickly located the cache. We got the log signed before we were on our way again. The cache container was a bit damaged and might need some maintenance.
Thanks for the cache wombat warriors2! Great place for a cache! Favourite point from me

Birthplace of Aussie Rules, love it! Great one to visit during opening round. TFTC.
Decided to do a day trip to Stawell to watch a friend's horse run in the trots up there. Of course, one can't simply do a day trip without a cache stop or few. We came home the long way via Moyston and stopped by to grab this cache. Great to see they have provided so much information here about the history of our Aussie Rules game, in such an attractive manner. TFTC and for bringing us here wombat warriors2
Nice find thank you on our way home from Halls Gap with Mi5sie nice hide lovely place tftc
Ryanofoz had said something about the cache name and football so it must be at a football oval. Driving into this town we spotted the sign 'Home of aussie rules football' and we both got excited. What a great bit of history and I am glad we stopped here! TFTC
Had never heard that Aussie Rules was created here! Thanks for bringing Fuzzej and I here.
Another nice quick and fun find while in the region [^]

Found this p&g with brand new log. Geodad spotted cache in seconds, geomum saw the munzee first. Tftc xo
Nice to see the town in good spirits after the fires. Guys out playing cricket, traffic moving around. Nice easy find, lovely little park. TFTC
An easy find for geokids Apple Pie and Toothless, good co-ords.
Needs a new log book.

Nice hide got scared of the cache because when I opened it I got suprised by a few earwigs so who evers there next be prepared because there might be a little suprise tftc
Stopped for a smoko at this very interesting park. The detail on the information board re the history of the cricket and football was brilliant. Thanks to all concerned and also the cache owner. A favourite is given.
Found it! After spending a wonderful couple of days walking with friends in the Grampians, it was time to go home. Found this one on a quick stop to use the nearby facilities. TFTC and local history lesson. SL
Nice to find put about Australian history especially as lm not sports minded Cauzsa can learn so much from Geo caching such as thrse
On a maintenance and caching road trip to Hall's Gap with Highrod and Misschief18, I managed to achieve the most finds for the day, as this was virgin territory for me, unlike my travelling companions. This was my 22nd find of the day on a successful day of 25/25. We had several DNA from our list due to time constraints, but all in all a very enjoyable day out. 22nd find of 25 for the day! Thank you for bringing us to this spot, broadening my knowledge about AFL history. With the deepest blue skies and the gorgeous daffodils, I couldn’t resist lying in the garden for the perfect photo! TFTC
Found with geniejoan. Very interesting reading here. Also enjoyed the flowers and the blue sky. It did rain later when we were heading home. TFTC
Nice drive by, geokid found this one while geomum read history. Log nearly full. Thanks
An amazing cache on the road home. This is what I love about Geocaching, a visit to a place I never knew existed, that revealed a most interesting local and national history. awesome! TFTC.
Our 3rd and last day at the Grampians.
Cold windy and wet day at Halls Gap, so we decided to go for a drive to Ararat.
Hoping to pick up a few caches on the way.

We recently arrived in Halls Gap from SA for a few weeks stay in the beautiful Grampians. We hope to find a few caches while we are here.
A very cold drizzly day so instead of hiking in the Grampians we decided that a visit to some local wineries was in order. We were heading to the Great Western region and visited this nice little hide in Moyston. We are not HUGE footy fans but many members of our extended family would be surprised and pleased to learn of the history here.
We however were simply delighted to find a cache at another fantastic little spot and learn some more local history. Great name for the cache too
Many thanks for bringing us here wombat warriors2 [^][^]
PS The cellar has now been replenished and we had a delicious light lunch to go with the sparkling wines we tasted

Found with knightarrant on 29/3/14. Great bit of local history. Thanks for bringing me here . Tftc
What a great hide. Would never have known this was here if it wasn't for geocaching. To be fair, neither of us is really a footy fan but it was still a cool location to find. TFTC!
Driving through and decided to smell the roses. TFTC! - Oh, missed opportunity to call the cache, Under The Rotunda
Passed this one on the way to halls gap and made a note to grab it on the return. I can see why wombat warriors 2 had to hide something here. Great spot begging for a cache. Cheers and TFTC
Have had some selfish time and logged GCBED3 plus some more. What magic weather over the last couple of days.
The roses are a complete disappointment at this time of year. However, the claret ashes more than made up for the roses.
Enjoyed the area and sporting history of a local.
SL
