Travelling with iluvtrekking on a SA caching foray. Staying a couple of days in Clare to grab some finds. Thanks for the hide.
I decided to take Friday off work to make it a four day weekend. The plan was to explore around Barossa and Clare valleys. Im not much of a wine drinker but there sure are lots of geocaches in these parts. I brought my bike along so I could tackle some of the many caches along bike tracks. A little cool through out the day but the sun was shining which always makes me happy. Yes I am a John Denver Fan. I had to stop here for this rather old cache. Quick find here. Thank you matmob, for placing Ettrick Wedge for the geocaching community.# # #14889 # #
As we wander through the land, grabbing caches and seeing the sights even occasionally catching up with friends A good day was had while grabbing these caches with lots of miles covered Thanks for placing them *Found with [Geooh GO](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobiltal.geoohGO)*
Found it! Spotted a likely hiding spot when I pulled over to park. Turned out to be correct! So many old cemeteries in this area. TFTC!
As we were driving past this small cemetery and geocache, I was able to stop and make a reasonably quick find. An interesting small cemetery. The small cache container was cracked, but it appears to be holding up ok, and the logbook was in good shape. Thanks matmob for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.----------A trip visiting Adelaide from Brisbane for the [The Great Leap Forward](http://coord.info/GCA1DNA) Mega event!I arrived Wednesday 28/02/2024 evening ready for Leap Day on Thursday, and stayed with family across the weekend, before returning on Monday 4/03/2024 morning. Previous Adelaide trips are spent with family and friends, but targeted geocaching was this trip's objective, and I attempted to target unique cache types (virtuals, EarthCaches, Wherigos and letterbox hybrids), attractive D-T combinations, high Favourite Point caches, and the occasional pre-2003 oldie, acknowledging that I had found many cherished oldies whilst residing in Adelaide. In addition to Mega central in Beverley/Hindmarsh, my trip included visits as north as Clare, to Aldinga and Sellicks Beach to the south, and the Adelaide Hills (Hahndorf, Uraidla) to the west. In true South Australian style, I ticked off the three closest wine areas to Adelaide (Barossa, Clare Valley, and McLaren Vale). Additional highlights included Barossa vineyard meanderings, boating to Adventure Island in Outer Harbor, drain exploration via [The Shadowlands](https://coord.info/GC18AZY), beach walks of Port Willunga and Sellicks Beach, enjoying a beer at Willunga, and experiencing the Fringe Festival in Adelaide's east end.Today on 29/02/2024 Leap Day, it was an extremely early start joining [gridge98](https://coord.info/PRGKDMY) to drive north to attend Clare's morning event. As the sun rose, we meandered back to Adelaide via Auburn, Saddleworth, Peters Hill, Tarlee, and Gawler, and I then proceeded solo visiting targeted geocaches in Adelaide's north around Mawson Lakes. A couple of targeted geocaches in North Adelaide's park lands with [gridge98](https://coord.info/PRGKDMY), and I then headed east to Stepney and Toorak Gardens, before visiting Mega HQ. The day's remainder was spent catching up with old geocaching friends, geocaching, gadget caching, and closing-out the day with [The Side Event](http://coord.info/GCAH07T) dinner.Adventure Labs visited included: [Adelaide Icon Tour with Neobatrachus Pictus](https://labs.geocaching.com/goto/e4e6daf2-4904-4f32-9a49-3308a1d7a075); [Hidden History of Charles Sturt Council](https://labs.geocaching.com/goto/f1f49ce0-0345-4bb0-9cf6-f1ff813d80d9); [Sporting Adelaide](https://labs.geocaching.com/goto/746734fb-eab7-4058-8072-922a43bdc332); [The Great Leap Forward Gadget Caches](https://labs.geocaching.com/goto/a2d616d0-5583-4663-a70c-605c6a88c956); and [Visiting South Australia's Special Places](https://labs.geocaching.com/goto/44b6d461-0b3b-43b5-adf1-1c29f61766b7).
A nice cool breeze and a bit of early morning caching around Rivertons back roads. Many thanks for the hide matmob
quick find
The JAMS team ( JJ52,Allister w, Mogni, and sir_spectre minus mitchell&hound ) but Tallbikestan was with us instead and we where out for there usually monthly caching adventure. This time it was over the october long weekend instead of the usual day trip. The taget this time was Drop into the Light a long ladder cache on the way to clare and then to clear the Rattler trail, Riesling Trail, Ne Trail saturday on the bikes and then sunday do the Mid North Channel Country bike trail. Monday on the return home was to get Peter's view a 2001 cache. Of course there was many, many other's found on route to the various target for the weekend, somewhere around 260 found by the team. It could have been more but we were not going at a flat out pace, just steady and getting a blow out on the bike 1.6 km's from the end of the Mid North Channel Country bike trail didn't help. I didn't see any snakes this trip but allister did, he saw 5. The caches this trip where written in as JAMS, i forgot the stamps. Also 1 cache was placed by the JAMS team this trip. Out of all the bike tracks i preferred the Rattler /Riesling trail. I like riding through the very rich ( after all the recent rains ) fields of yellow flowers.

The JAMS crew went on an October long weekend adventure back to Clare. We brought Tallbikestan along as we were targetting the bike tracks and he is the best rider amongst us. Allister W and sir_spectre we the other main riders, with JJ52 and I the support crew and walkers. A huge weekend of fun and adventure was had by all, until I made SS sick with my cold....oops.
Thanks to all those who have kept not just the bike tracks but all the other caches alive for us to find.
All caches signed as JAMS.
Thanks to matmob from mogni

Another cache found on our 2022 South Australian Adventure and we have a beautiful day in Clare today, albeit a bit blustery.
We are enjoying our time travelling SA, fantastic towns, ruins, beaches and cliffs. Our thanks to all the COs for taking us on this geo-guided tour.

Tftc!! A wonderful little piece of country sa history. Even spotted an owl who had made his home in the nearby tree.
Just happen to stumble across this lovely little cemetery on way to do hike up peters hill and then thought I would have a look on Geocacheing to find that there is a cache here. Looked it up, found it, didn’t take, but added a dice.

A fun day caching with JJ52 and Michells&hound finding caches in the area. A lot of churches and cemeteries were visited. I ended up with about 50 finds. TFTC matmob
Today was a big day out of caching with part of the JAMS crew today it was JJ52 Allister w and myself.
We met up at 7.15am and headed off on an adventure to the East of Clare. We targeted cemeteries and Used2B churches.
All up we found around 50 caches each as well as a bonus FTF on an amazing cache at Spring Gully.
It was a fabulous day and we all had a great time. It was interesting to visit some smaller off the beaten track historical towns.
Thanks to all the CO for putting out and maintaining hides for us to find.

A caching day had been organised with Michells&hound and allister w to head north and find caches that all three of us hadn't found. It was a great day for caching and we had a lovely day driving on some out of the way tracks and roads, through some of our quaint little towns visiting lots of Used 2B Churches and historical sites. We even made a smallish detour to grab a FTF in Spring Gully Conservation Park.
And another small cemetery that I would never have known about if not for caching.
Thanks for the cache matmob.

Full time nomads since 2014. Still tootling around the country trying to avoid Covid hotspots.
Back in SA for harvest work. Spending a few days in Kapunda before heading to Yorke Peninsula.
Headed out to explore some back roads today before the forecast rain of tomorrow. Boy the crops look good around here but still not ready for harvest.

TFTC this is our first cache for the day. What a lovely resting place for the dearly departed. So much can be learned about the families by visiting these graves.
Was in the area for work and saw there was a cache just up the road, mars well go and stretch my legs. Nice bit of history thanks for bringing me here.
Nice lil stop and explore on our way home from the Saddleworth markets today..TFTC
Nice little cemetery on the back roads, what a peaceful spot.
A nice day out caching around eudunda and the surrounding areas, despite the on and off rain all day majority of the caches were easy enough to get to. Total of 39 finds and 1 DNF.
Thanks for the cache

Having just found the nearby golden oldie cache we stopped off to search for this one, which we soon located once at Ground Zero. We signed the log book and then replaced as found. Thanks so much for the cache and greetings from Zimbabwe
Interesting little cemetery. A local stopped for a chat while we were here - we think to check up on us! He went on to tell us of the other cemeteries further to the east which is where we were going next anyway - 'Where's the China' followed by 'Peter's view'. Tftc.
The puzzled puzzlers set out on our first Wednesday escapade. Changing from Tuesday meant myself, Blackadders, Doctor Owl and SA Sewer rats were all available. As usual we set our mystery tour target as to make our way to Clare and cache around there. As usual we spent the whole day caching and never made it to Clare. [B)]
What an interesting place. The cache was found quickly and then we enjoyed a little walk around. It would seem a fair portion of the Kelly gang was buried here.

It was Wednesday and that meant the new day for the available members of the Puzzled Puzzler group to go find caches. The target today was Clare - a town that was actually not reached all day. Too many caches to distract them on the way! This was the twelfth of the day for Owl and she amassed a satisfying total of smilies, mostly found by other people. This one she found herself, but there was a lot of advice given. Bulbs in full flower and the Kelley Gang was spotted.
The usual troupe of animals from the puzzled puzzlers group, this time on a Wednesday ventured out on this marvelous day to seek yet more of our un-found hides. Today's mission was Clare however we just did not seem to make it with all these other caches that diverted us from our goal.
Another hidden little gem of history, more abandoned heritage . Cache found easily and then a read of the headstones, interesting history and little cemetery. Thanks for bringing us here.

Another day, another cache...
A nice peaceful spot to rest. Looks like some recent earthworks tidying up, but cache safely in hidey hole.
Thanks matmob for placing the cache and for bringing us here for another fun smiley

Out for the day with Mum and Dad. Took us a little while but found it. We loved this cache!!!!
Finally found it after a bit of searching in the wrong spots. Should have trusted my GPS to start with.
Nice quiet area today which was lucky as it is Halloween!!!

Clare007, muggle partner and I headed out for the weekend to try and get me to my 5,000th locus cache smiley
All up, at weekend's end, I had 67 smileys and only 2 DNFs and somewhere along the way, the magic 5,000th find happened
Drove some fun roads, found some great caches and just generally had a fantastic time geocaching, as usual!
We had to laugh when we found the cache! Cute cache container
Now what was that about 'lonely' graves[?]

Locus cache & I along with muggle partner slowly made our way towards Clare.
Made some slight detours along the way at Kapunda, Hamiton, Riverton, Belvedere, Saddleworth and Marabel.
We stopped at this neat little cemetery, but found the cache in the open on the ground.
Since the cache was near a tree hollow, we could only presume a local critter dislodged from its it's spot.
Locus cache replaced it in a likely spot.
Great spot, that's for the cache matmob.

Quick find at the back of this old forgotten cemetery. I'm sure it would look lovely in Spring. Cache still in great condition. Tftc. Tnln.
Finally found the cache lying on the ground, looks like it may have been blown from its hiding place. The lid is broken and the contents are getting wet. Put it back in what we thought was the obvious place, but it needs attention. Why do they build these schools and churches in the middle of nowhere? Would be a beautiful spot in the spring.
Quick find, nice smug fit although cache container is showing its age, and previous water damage is obvious. Love the gate entry TFTC
Found whilst out on a great day trip to Burra with CPWanderer.
Mr M jumped the fence (private land???) and collected some of the more prickly vegetation on his clothes as he made the find. TFTC.

A quick find on a bit of an adventure day for the Grumpy drag along (geohubby) to help Burton's reach 2000 by new years. Had a real found by farmers day as everywhere I went a farmer seemed to be pulling up beside me to ask what I was doing. A short explanation was all they required before going on their way!!
