Solved this one a while ago and have to admit to using the help button after failing to solve with mt own sheet.
I had set aside today to get to our 514 mysteries target (500 puzzles minus 14 challenges) before our 2 year anniversary that I have been working towards all year; this was the final of 10 that I needed. This was the wettest track that I faced today and when I arrived at GZ there has been some kind of experiment setup right next to the cache. Fortunately the cache has not been disturbed and is still in good condition. TFTC.

8.55am - Just a few caches on our way home today to finish our distance challenge. SLTFTC
With Gap (of Fap and Gap)... Another big weekend drive to clock up some distance mileage.
Distance from previous cache: 08.59 km
We liked the look of this puzzle as soon as we saw it. Oddly enough, we were following an International Man of Mystery (MoM) discussion (Face Book) about this cache. We sat down during the last school holidays and had it solved after a few days.
Gap finished his measuring job and we looked for a nearby cache to pick up. This one fitted the bill. We arrived to find a muddy, slushy ground zone. There were lots of protesting signs dotting the pathway, and a strange construction very near the hint object. We worried that the cache had been discovered, as it took a while to uncover the container. In the end, we found it tucked away, but easily accessible. TFTP and TFTC.

Up in Auckland for the weekend with Team bop (myself Philip.Perry and TNXPRO ) collecting a few of the puzzles we have solved. Philip did the solve on this one we made a quick find at GZ.

With a bag full of solved puzzles around Auckland, I teamed up once again with Davidson clan and Philip.Perry. Team BOP were reunited once again to gather as many solved puzzles as we had time to find in the two days we had allocated.
Its has taken me a couple of weeks to get my head into logging these and my memory is fading, so am relying on a combo of field-notes and the other logs from Team BOP...
I hadnt had a chance to solve all the puzzles on our list, including this one, but as I was along for the ride and found the log book, I can log the find. I will be trying to solve this in retrospect though.
Thanks for the challenging puzzle and TFTC.

Team BOP have descended upon Auckland with a pocket full of solved puzzles. But this was funny - I was freaking out with no idea how to solve this - I was reading the comments and feeling way out of my depth. I saw a couple of people mention a help spreadsheet that I finally found... then got the green tick on my second attempt - probably 5mins work. But at the end I feel like it was sheer luck - but I'm ok with that
A quick find at GZ and a nice little walk. Cheers tofska, TFTC.

#11712. Another short walk in this interesting part of Auckland city. The shade was appreciated. TFTC.
We are back in Auckland for a few days and a visit to Titirangi and Huia was on the to do list. We were a little slow getting started this morning, as I spent a while researching the caches we would be looking for. Of course, solved puzzles were high on the list!
Solved this puzzle over 4 years, and finally we are in the area to try and turn it into a smiley. Easily found the bigger part of the hint, but the smaller part was a little more elusive. Despite the double bagging, the log book was a bit wet, but still able to leave our marks on it.
Found the original Krazy Kjarposko cache over 6 years ago, so good to have the double. Thanks for the puzzle and the cache.

I solved this puzzle quite a while ago and had a lot of fun doing it. After running scripts to solve several other similar puzzles I made a few modifications and let the computer do the hard labor for me. Unfortunately a recent night visit to this cache was unsuccessful and I had to admit defeat after about 20 minutes of hunting. I thought a daylight search would yield better results so I stopped by today and was happily signing the log after just a couple minutes. I always enjoy it when I can write up a little bit of code to do my solving so this one earns a favorite point from me! TFTC!
Having solved the puzzle we were keen to get out to capture this one. Got on the trail and as we approached GZ there were 3 people milling around sifting through the leaf litter around the trees. Got talking to them and asked what they were doing. It is a Masters research paper on a particular type of weevil. So we decided to leave and come back later. 10 minutes later they were still there so we left. Later in the day as the result of solving a cache puzzle and wanting to capture it we were back in the area to lay our hands on this one. Took a bit of searching as the hint was suffering the effects of the dry summer and not so obvious to us.
Shoukd have bern able to solve a lot quicker after a nudge in the right direction, but kept making the same stupid mustake over and over again. Out in the area with geodog and merlot58 collecting some nearby solvec puzzles. Rekatively quick find. FP from me
I went out with ugnz today to pick up some puzzles that we had both solved. I had looked at this one off and on and as I'm no mathematician I decided to try the help button. Thank goodness I did as it was able to help me solve the puzzle. Geodog loved rolling in the bush while we searched for the cache which took a little longer than it should have! Thankfully ugnz had eagle eyes as I had totally bypassed it!
#285 Geodad, Geoboy and Geogirl (Geomum is in Wellington for the weekend) decided to spend this afternoon collecting some of the geocaches up near Titirangi. Solved this one some time ago, not sure when. I no it took some of my excel skills to brute force a solution. Great puzzle though. Find was spot on, found by Geoboy.

Have been wanting to solve this for awhile, and today was that day! Thanks for the puzzle and the adventure
GPS bounced a bit, lots of cobwebs felt as I approached GZ, after a short search the cache was found. The log is damp, but I had no problems signing. I have removed cache items as they are rusty/mouldy. The cache has been cleaned and dried. Love how vaseline has been used to seal edges of cache? The log is now double bagged.

WOW that was a mind **** trying to work that out came up with all sorts of answers none of which made to much sence however after receiving a nudge from a friend I relooked at the numbers I was coming up with and realised some of my sctratchings were heading in the right direction so tried the geo-checker whith a few numbers.. all wrong hmmm ok think I shall go look with my numbers any way, got to my GZ and started using clue and hey had the cache in hand after approx. 5 mins, took a reading on top of cache and put that into checker .. nope still wrong, ohh well must only be a digit off some were, cache all good a little damp inside, TFTC
Finally!!! This is soooo close to my house and I had spent about 10 hours working on it!!! I was unsuccessful and so enlisted the help of synchnz! He finally got around to solving it! An evening walk in the bush and we had it within a few minutes!! Tftc!
10centnz had been bugging me about this one for weeks. Being so close to his house, it kept him awake at night, haunted his dreams etc! Finally got round to solving it with the help of a friend pointed me to some formulas and the fact that I'd misread that the letters could be 0! We headed out at night after we solved it, and wasn't hard to find. Cache is very waterlogged though, logbook may need drying out or replacing. Can still write on it for those who want to find though. Glad to knock this one off, TFTC!
Nice one! I solved this puzzle quite some time ago but today was the first time that I was in this area to go and find the cache. Once I found my way to where I needed to be it still took me quite a while to find the cache. I concentrated too much on the 2nd part of the hint instead of fully investigating the first part of the hint. Got it in the end though. TFTC, Biggles.
I was up in Auckland for an evening and half a day to drop off my Mum on her trip back to the States so I took the opportunity to grab a few caches and challenges that helped me with D/T boxes and gettting my Puzzle numbers up. I wasn't able to grab everything for during MEGA so it's was nice to have a few solved puzzles and challenges up the sleeve for a quick visit like this.
I was heading to my Aunties to crash for the night and I made a detour to this and another nearby cache. I enjoyed the puzzle and it fell into place quickly. Thanks for the tools. I couldn't believe how muggy it was tonight and how dry it was. This is not the Auckland I remember. I was happy to make a quick find and headed out and sprayed my footware.
Thanks for the cache.

Solved the puzzle after a couple of evenings of algebra practice. Found the cache in good order although a bit damp. The epiphyte has died and mostly decomposed. TFTC.
Nice puzzle find with TuisReturn.

Having read previous notes just have to say ... about 60 minutes by hand - two episodes of Marcus Lush's North on DVD and a bit longer
Didn't really time it as usually end up having multiple attempts and going around in circles, but this one fell out quite nicely, just a head scratching moment of two before I remember the bit about ... (better not say).
So brain power and 4th Form simulataneous equations win the day. (how long does it take to write those programs anyway?)
One of many I hope to have solved by the time I get up there over Meg weekend (and days either side!)

Solved the puzzle a few months ago and took the opportunity to grab this one today whilst in the area. I only had the coords with no other information and so was not sure what to look for as I approached GZ.
However, as I approached the area, my eye was drawn to an "object" and although my GPSr was stating that GZ was still 7m away I started my search here and the cache was quickly located. The cache was wet but the LB was in good condition. I drained the container and dried the contents as best I could before re-packing it and returning it to its hide.
Thanks for the puzzle and TFTC

I have had this one solved for over a year now so determined to get out and make the find this morning. About time, really! No great difficulty with the solve--easy when you know how. GPSr was bang on and we quickly found the cache in the obvious spot. Cache is on the damp side. Still, log was perfectly singable. Cheers for the puzzle cache!
Solved this one ages ago and have been meaning for a long time to stop in here for the find. Out and about out west with 10cc so today was the day. The cache had a bit of water in it - don't know why as it was the right way up and can't see any damage to the container. Emptied the water out and wiped the seal as best we could before rehiding it. The logbook is wet, but it we could still write in the middle of it. TFTC!!!
Found it to prove that I can still remember my high school algebra! Nice puzzle but unfortunately GC rather wet. Emptied out the water and dried as best I could but darkness meant that I had to leave it. Will hopefully dry out as long as we don't have any more rain like last Friday!
Quickly solved by my good friend Excel - is there nothing you cannot do? Will find when I'm in the area next. TFTP
Was keen to do this one to pick up the trackable. Mr Eyretle worked out the puzzle but unfortunately he wasn't with us today for the retrieval, however I'm sure Mrs Eyretle will show him one day soon. TFTC
Loved the walk around the block and the track. The puzzle was solved using the easy and straightforward help .

Good puzzle; found the help really straightforward to use. Cache was a bit soggy. Tipped some water out of the container but as it was drizzling, and getting dark, couldn't do much more. TFTC

Found the help button to be much more interactive than I was expecting - definitely helped and it was fitting to find this on the same day I got to meet the man behind the numbers at the nearby(ish) GC event. Cool puzzle and a very nice little spot for the hide. Cheers M@ and TFTC.
puzzle was great, took awhile though.
Easy find even though we forgot to take the clue.Cache was very wet, tipped the water out but probably needs to be dried.TFTC

solved and found this one with Susiedog. Took a long time to solve the puzzle but fun all the same.
This was one for our Maths Whizzkid in the team. Although he wasn't with us when we made the find it was a great one to get signed off. Thanks for the puzzle and the cache
What more can I say, I am so pleased to finally write this cache into history. Nice area for the final. TFTC

Quite a tricky puzzle, which we solved while on a recent holiday - no internet but eventually managed to solve by hand. Very satisfying. Out today to collect the find. A nice bit of bush to walk through.

Solved this one a few months ago when I accidently found some help. Then this one helped to solve another of M@'s puzzle caches which I thought I would never solve.
Finally got in the area today, after a false start a couple of days ago when it rained in the morning forcing me to withdraw, to sign off the log.
Swapped TBs.
Cheers for the puzzle and cache, M@.

Have had this one on the go for a while. Nothing flash here - just a SpreadSheet and changing possibles while watching TV.
Needed to employ Mrs YuGeo4 - super effort. No technology - WoW !!!
M@ gave TT a big prod at a recent event - Thanks M@
All done and cleaned up.

Today, we went on a caving tour to Whatipu together with M@ and the 2 Hopefuls. We still had some time left before we met at M@'s place, so we decided to go for this cache that Rumo's all-purpose-riddle-cracker-Java-program had solved a week ago in 30seconds. After the GPS had decided to receive some satellites, it guided us close to the hiding place and we found the cache pretty quickly. Neat little walkway.

50 minutes, 9 hours?!! My compiled Basic program (updated, now gives only 1 answer) delivers in 3 seconds! Bit slower with the interpreter though, about 2 mins.
Decided to go the count to a billion way myself rather than get my brain all tied up in knots. Had a handy little Perl script I wrote to solve two other Auckland puzzles last week and a simple matter to plug the equations into it. Turned out to be a good way to "check" one of the servers at work and it spat out the answer in just under 50 mins.
Look forward to a visit to sign the log.

I figured I'd be all week trying to figure out that puzzle. Gave it a go substituting numbers, incrementing and decrementing various numbers to no avail. Decided to crack this one using vbscript. Worked but took over 9 hours to run crack. 10 Billion possibilities? Anyway... a gorgeous little spot, beautiful bush, Tui's & Rosellas heard in the trees. Easily accessible via a short muddy track.

A simple programme in ancient Quick Basic Pro spat out an answer, then another, and another, up to 6! Seems my logic is incomplete, so tested the solutions manually until 1 fitted. All good fun, and pleased to find another track to explore when it dries out some more. TNLN, cheers!
