No longer in the game, won’t be maintaining caches once they are reported missing

20-Mar-22
Amazing view

15-Oct-21
No matter which 'path' we took we hit a wall of scrub. That combined with the heat stalled our attempt. Hopefully we'll be back some day to retry.

14-Oct-21
Another sad face for us today. A little so far of the track and a lotto hot for us tonight spend to much time on this one.

30-Sep-21
Easy find but the last 150m was a wild scramble. Probably not safe for the younger geokids.
The cache, pen and logbook are all perfect thanks to the last finder.️
Thanks For The Cache.

Got part way off the track and saw some slithering and decided this one wasn’t for us. Great location, awesome view though

28-Mar-21
This one is a bit treacherous at the end, last bluff. My gps a far way out but found a tell tell sign on the bluff. Lost my geo trail on the way out. Have replaced the cache container whilst I was out there. Ripped my pants on all the lantana. Beautiful view though

15-Nov-20
Magical spot for a cache!

Bit of maintenance needed. The container has seen better days and the log book has been weathered to the point where you can’t open it. I signed the back Smile

30-Apr-19
This is at least 180m off the walking trail which means through bushes, rocks downhill. I did not try that. Rather I do 10 of the peak climbs

16-Jan-19
Awesome cache, took me a bit to find. Take a bit of care navigating to this one. TFTC

07-Nov-18
Unfortunately circumstances forced us into starting the walk right in the middle of the day. This meant the exposed walk up to Passage Peak was incredibly hot. The good news is that it was most definitely worth it!! The views were stunning.n to the cache.
After stopping at Passage Peak, we continued on to this one. It was a really peasant stroll and especially enjoyable walking through the Blackboy Plants forest.
We finally made it to the point and I scrambled out of my comfort zone once again. It wasn’t long before I saw the cache.it had been 7 months since the last find, though a muggle had found it 3 months ago. Unfortunately it was left exposed to the sun, and the container is very damaged, and will need replacing. I left it as covered as possible.
Thanks for the great cache and walk. Took trackable and left one.

A birthday cache for my birthday boy nenosinmud

20-Dec-17
A nice geocache location, the view is stunning and worth the walk. The last ~200m is challenging and requires you to take additional care.

11-Jul-17
My favourite geocache so far, most stunning view of the other islands and quite the scenic cliff face!!

19-Nov-16
Found it.
Managed to fight off the Green Ants just.
Awsome view.

19-Nov-16
Tftc. Found today with a mate. Great spot. Get all your info before you complete the last 200m or so cos the service drops out. Also those green ants love a feed.

It was a beautiful walk and we saw a wallaby, big butterflies and lizards on the way. Views were spectacular The last 150m was very challenging through rocky terrain and thick bush. Got bitten by some green ants. Got pretty close but GPS kept jumping and we did not have any service. We did not find the cache but well worth the hike anyway!

22-Mar-16
Really nice spot and a great hike. I don't know what Wayn0 was smoking that day because the walk is mostly under cover. Just the final approach opens out.

The weird cairns are still here, and yeah the last hundred metres is mild bush bash.

Cache was easy to find and in an excellent spot.

I hope these big green arsed ants don't bite. Place is full of them.

Thanks for cache, really isolated spot and great views Smile

25-Nov-15
Thanks for the cache. I found this one the most challenging cache on the Island. The South East Head Trail has little tree cover and it was very hot. Also, I couldn't find a track to GZ once I got close. I got there eventually and it was worth it. Luckily, for me, the coordinates were spot-on. If they weren't it would have taken me a LOT longer to find Smile I saw a brown coloured snake but it quickly took off so I don't know what type it was. The cache and log are dry and in good condition. I noticed some random cairns near GZ.. kind of weird Smile
Cheers

More incredible views! TFTC.

Went for a walk with the family to Escape beach. Two of us left the rest and made our way out to the headland. Having found Casper last time we were here did not think that this one would be that much more difficult. Found another slightly marked track and followed that for a short distsnce and after about 10 minutes finally found this one. Windy out here and managed to drop my pen point down onto a rock. Still able to make a entry in log. One of the guides on our ATV trek told us about other tracks on this end of the island that can be found and cut off some distance in walking. Not marked like the proper walking tracks and fire trails but they are there. TFTC Zodiakhorizon.

After spending an hour trying to navigate down through the trees and a few falls we decided to call defeat. I'd be interested to know how others got down there. While Amez is small, Woody is solid 6'3 and simply couldn't fit between the branches. Nice views though! The tail was easier than passage point but hotter without the benefits of shade. TFTC even if we didn't find it.

Exhilarating views, great walk, great day.

After the storm I Walked up to the southeastern end of Hamilton Island. It was a walk all alone for myself. At the end, there was a sort of real bushwalk and it took me around 5 minutes to find the box. Everything is dry in it, unbelievable!
However, it was a nice walk and the overlooks worth coming here. This cache gets a FP .

The last of the Hamilton caches with a smilie! The heat and pandanus were both conspiring against us today but the cache was eventually in hand. It's in surprisingly fantastic condition considering its environment! TNLNSL TFTC

Bit of a bush bash, but well worth it

06-May-13
A good walk followed by a little bush bash. Was quite startled by the goat we stumbled upon getting out on the point. Mr bloopy did the last bit of scrambling while mrs bloopy enjoyed the views and the sea eagles soaring on high. Cheers!

13-Apr-13
Either I took a wrong path or the fact no one has visited for some time has left the proper track overgrown left me tramping through thick bush. Frustrating as could easily see where I needed to go from afar and wasn't helped by the horizontal rain and 60km/h winds. Was determined to get this after a 60 min trek with little tinky winky on shoulders

First cache today: a little bushwalking, and we got a very lovely view in return. We did not leave a TB, too little visits here! Which is a pity by the way... TFTC

Went for a lovely walk this morning and saw the meters count down from 3000 to 30..... Then the batteries in the gps died. No problem, I had spares. Hmmm. Also dead. Finally, right down in the smelly recesses of my pack I found a lone duracell. Hurrah! Just enough juice to find the gz for an easy find. Well worth the visit. Tftc.

Found this one after a lovely walk out from Passage Peak and Casper's Paradise. Took a little time to find our way to GZ through the thick and scratchy scrub (but well worth the effort however), but once at GZ and after the GPS settled down a bit the cache was quickly and easily spotted.
In the end we found the cache just on sunset, which was absolutely beautiful. Our walk back to the resort via the scenic trail was almost as good as our walk out - obviously we didn't have the stunning views that we had on our trip out, but with a full moon in the sky highlighting the bech down below we were spellbound.
We started our walk at 3.00pm that afternoon, and came down after two finds and a lot of walking at approx 8.15pm - all-in-all not too bad for some out of practice geo-lovers.

What a fantastic cache!! Nice and isolated, somewhere most people wouldn't go, slight element of danger (as I edged across the final crumbly metres thinking that I perhaps should have told someone more specifically where I was going when I snuck out the door pre-dawn), this has got to be my favourite cache to date! It would have helped to read the prior logs better before I left though as it would have saved me all that time I spent looking for that final piece of track, which doesn't exist!, across the saddle to the bluff. Did this is part of an outward leg on an early morning run returning via Caspers Paradise. TFT(amazing)C! SLTNLN Big Grin.

What an awesome location! Well done Zodiakhorizon on providing us with this great challenge. Your description is spot on. No need to get too close to the cliff edge. A bit of bush to push through getting out to the point- we stuck to the left heading toward the cache and it was not too bad. This cache provides one of the best views Hamilton Island can provide.

29-Jul-11
Am I the fist one to not find it or the first one to log failure?
Let`s start with the positive; the cache is on an island...cool.
The cache offers the cacher fantastic views...true.
Now the segue to the negative: By my calculations involving georaphical and mathmatical
equations much to complicated to explain now I have identified 2,348 possible locations for a cache
on this island with fantastic views.
This cache location is not one of them....please don`t think I`m being judgemental ( he is being judgemental he`s just trying to be nice about it...and he talks in the third person-clear sign of insanity ) but I`ve run the equation twice and
checked the numbers thrice.
The negitive: This cache should be moved to the point where the trail ends. The view is no better
from GZ and only offers the cacher a second chance at dealth if they didn`t meet their maker of choice thanks to Casper`s Paradise on Passage Peak. The bush bashing is just annoying and the return trip through
the bush makes you wish that if you had found the cache that you had tossed it and your precious GPS into
the sea. I loved Hamilton Hide #2. Hamilton Hide #1 however is a good example of why one should never
cache hide drunk and/or under the influence of drugs. Good day to you Sir. I said....., good day!

Of Track And Did Not Find

16-Jul-11
Phew, what a hike and what a scramble! Some dense brush on the way to the spur of land, but great views! Bloody obvious once my GPS started working and I got to the right place. Not one for the GeoKids, but I'm very proud that I've found every cache on Hamilton. Moving the travel coin as these caches aren't often visited! TFTC. Cache in good nick!

Reperio at 0830. After a fanastic walk to Passage Peak, Barl and I continued our walk out to South Head. The track was in terrific condition given the recent rain, and after some slight off road walking ensued, we were soon at GZ. Plenty of places to look in, on and under, but after a couple of minutes, we soon had the cache in hand. Had a spare zip lockbag so we placed the log book in it. We've been truely spoilt this weeked by some wonderful locations, and loved exploring this side of Hamilton Island. The views from here are superb.

Geobaby woke up at a nice 5:30am this morning (he's 16months old), so I decided he and I should go do this cache this morning. A great walk out, but 150 from GZ i started to get worried that with geobaby on back i would struggle to get to GZ.... a bit of looking around, and pushing through bushes we got it..... I had planned to sit down with geobaby and have a nice breakfast out at GZ, unfortunantly he had fallen asleep in his carrier and so we didn't stop for breakfast out there...

Nice spot

Very long and very hot walk out to the GZ. No shade for about half of the hike. The trail does end and we had to bushwhack our way out to the final area. Nice area for a cache and a well-hidden cache.

Thanks for the cache!

Still out there, sadly I couldnt make the trip there this year but was advised it was still there....

Wow great cache a place where nobody gets this easy! My way trough and back from the hotel wer about 9,5kilometers a very far distance! But it was very nice! Tftc and greetings from Germany!

16-Jun-10
Well, it is quite an entertaining trek out to the cache region, but the actual finding was not much fun at all....scrambling about on slippery leaf-littered boulders, exposed to 30kt winds while only metres from rather long drops to the surf....not fun. Persevered anyway - when I got to the right boulder the cache was easily found. Thanks.

13-Aug-09
Made the long trek firstly out to Casper's Paradise to be met with some fantastic views from the main lookout there; then headed out to Hamilton Island Hide 2008 #1. Followed the track to within a couple of hundred metres from GZ and then there was no more easily defined track so continued on through the scrub as best as I could. Eventually came out the other side and was able to make it to GZ. It was a bit tricky making it to the final spot but it was worth it as the views were fantastic. The next challenge was to find the cache and it happened to be it the first place I looked. This was one of the most challenging caches I have done to date and definitely the longest I've walked with a return trek of almost 10 kilometres. TNLNSL. TFTC.

Cache empty however still a nice walk out there

Congrats Team Rubic FTF.

I did originally have a few photos linked to the Cache, it would seem since this cache has been unfound for so long that the photos have been archived or removed.

19-Mar-09
I was a little surprised to find a FTF waiting for me on Hamilton Island but I'll take them any day. After completing Casper's Paradise I continued my trek to the south of the island to attempt this cache. With 200m to go I lost the track and had to bush bash a little. The GPSr reset itself when I slipped on a wet rock and dropped the unit, but fortunately I didn't lose my waypoint.

On I went until I wasn't sure whether I should be going up or climbing down. I looked up the cache notes and was disappointed not to find any relevant information or a clue. In the end I took the safer option and looked for an obvious spot, lucky first go!

I snapped a couple of photos of the area and some spoiler pics if anyone needs help in the future.

A great location for a cache, I can't remember the last time I hiked this far for a find but I loved it.

Cheers,

R - B
