I spent the day caching around Highfields and Cooby Dam with Davinells. I found it in the first spot I checked just not the first time I checked. Thanks for the cache Timmos
Hi there Timmos, we found your cache Cooby's First Aid Quiz today.
Day seven touring out from Toowoomba. Today we’re touring in town. Previous days have seen some great geocaching, and today is looking to be the same if not better.
We solved the puzzle fairly easily. At GZ, we discovered that the cache needed some TLC, so we performed some maintenance and restored it to its former glory.
We’ve thoroughly enjoyed our tour around the countryside today, & ended up finding quite a variety of container types, sizes and ratings.
Coordinate Accuracy: We found this cache exactly where our GPS said we should be looking.
Cache Condition: Good Thanks for showing us this place, we would have missed it entirely if we were just muggle tourists. .
Regards
Ian & Penny

Solved the quiz and got the coordinates for GZ. Arrived on site and found the tree detailed in the hint….but could not locate the cache even with quite some digging. TFTC

***COs- Catching up on my now famous logging backlog. It started as a series of unfortunate events and went from there... Only seem to manage sporadic bursts so it's been a long haul project for me. This tardiness in no way reflects the quality of the hide or the enjoyment of the find. Apologies to COs for the late logs.*******************************************Up here for the weekend with hatzofff, RoddyC, patrol14 and SnickersAllan. We called in here so some of us could find it.TFTC??
Visiting Toowoomba and the outer districts with geo friends patrol14, hatzofff, echocage1, RoddyC & grannysmith1947. In order to not use up so much space in the log sheets we signed with a team name of PHERGS.
Nice quick find today in such a nice relaxing location, all good with the cache, well done CO.

Out caching today with hatzofff, echocage1, RoddyC, GrannySmith1947 and Snickersallan in the Toowoomba area picking up some different caches and just having a good time. Signing logs as PHERGS to save space.
All that First Aid training finally paid off and was able to get coords for the final. Took some digging but finally found the cache.
Interesting area.

Quick find while doing the earth cache. Did part 1 and 2 at LovedayCove prior to walking around.
Made a little mistake with the coordinates but the hint helped us sort it out. Sought clarification from a friend and we found out we were on the right track...

Left Brissie early to head up the range for the event at Highfields this arvo, stopping for a few target caches along the way.
Needed help with the puzzle, nothing I was doing seemed to produce results.
Today at GZ it took me a little scratching around before finding the container with a big huntsman guarding it.
Also spotted an echidna sleeping among the rocks nearby.

We had the place to ourselves this morning. Thanks to the good hint we soon saw where we needed to be and we found the cache. The logbook was quite damp so we took a seat at the nearby picnic table and gently peeled the pages apart. They quickly dried and we had no problem signing.
While waiting for the log to dry we picked up some rubbish in this otherwise well maintained area.
Thanks Timmos for the neat puzzle and cache.

Goombungee Day 2
Camp at the Goombungee showgrounds for a couple of days.
Todays trip was into Highfield out to Cooby Dam & return.
After 5 caches we realised we had a flat tyre so had to make a detour to have a puncture repaired.
We travelled to many new & interesting places, many dirt roads again today.
We stopped in town & collected something for lunch. We had a restfull break here at the dam.
FP given for the puzzle, we can learn something from it.
Thanks for placing this amazing series Timmos

Out for a quick pedal along the pond with Evie. A great spot to stop for my morning tea. A nice rest to have my coffee and bikkies. I had a typo in my co-ords for this one. Nothing at GZ matched the hint. Luckily There was only one thing in sight about 60m away that did match.
A quick relocation to the lower level and a nice quick find there.

Wasn't expecting to collect this puzzle on today's trip to Cooby. There were closer solved puzzles in Toowoomba but when the walking tracks were closed due to 'bush burns' supposedly in strong winds, our group decided to collect whatever was in the area that could be 'legally' collected. So dusted off the first aid knowledge from the noggin vault. Cache found well and in good condition with few muggles round the area. Thanks for the refresher course Timmos.
Had to abandon our original plans due to track closure but still managed a quick grab here. Tftc
The long awaited Toowoomba geocaching weekend is finally in progress - Gcoven, Team ARF, Ardom and myself have booked out a house, gone on a mad puzzle solving frenzy and made some crazy plans. Time to collect those smiles.

After an event at Highfields, our small team of RoddyC, hatzofff, and Grannysmith1947 set off to find a few caches.
A neat puzzle to work out the coordinates which put us in the general vicinity of the cache, but it was only the description which really led us to its actual position. All in good order.
Log signed and cache replaced as found at 11:59 am on 2 March 2019. TFTC, Timmos.

Have had a visitor up from the area for the last few days, while my amazing geowife is at work, i'm out recouping in the bush, I needed to be near some water and bushland, cooby was the perfect spot, Cass had solved this one, so I guess I better go claim it, she's a good vegan egg, I'll keep her I think..
Stopped by the water for a bit before heading down to this park to chill in the shade, had a Kookaburra stop and chill with me for a bit, share a selfie or 2 and then resumed catching cicadas for a snack on the run? fly?
favourite point for the location and relaxing spot

A fab Friday out west and pleasant weather to boot
This side of the dam was open so we swung down here for this puzzle and a multi WP. Got my first aid cert so no probs with the puzzle Almost scared the bejesus out of a wallaby reclining near GZ and spotted a koala in the wild which was a rare treat
TFTC Timmos Noticed the warnings but Sid was elsewhere today.

This was my favourite spot of the day I think, just because I saw some kookaburras, the little tunnel was so interesting, we saw a koala, Ms Maddy found a wallaby and the buildings nearby where very interesting so I’ve given it a fav and the puzzle was great too. Tftc
TFTC it was a nice way to end the series of caches we collected around the dam today. I saw the snake warning too
A bit of fun with this one, stopped by the side of the road to work out the coordinates. Luckily didn’t see any Joe Blakes.

We've decided to come along and replace it so everyone can continue caching! Just follow the description and you'll find it.
We believe this cache is definitely MIA (missing in action).
Some sort of confirmation would be great or else perhaps this should be archived to free up the spot for something fresh.

Solved the puzzle over two years ago but this was our first visit to the area.
Hmmm?
Searched high & low & excavated GZ (according to the 'hint') to below ground level.
We believe this cache is definitely NOT here but then perhaps that's just inexperience or a spot of cache blindness.
CO hasn't been active since 2012.
Last logged as found Dec 2016.
A great spot for another visit with a bite to eat & a few coldies.

Found with Mum as 'Jess & Caro' but now I have my own geocaching profile we are sorting my logs for caches we found together. TFTC!
That was tricky to solve, especially without any help from Google due to no phone reception! Had to use a bit of guesswork for one question, and the clue. What a gorgeous area, I hadn't explored properly before today and I really enjoyed it, especially being a Monday so very few muggles around. Signed log. TFTC Timmos!
Relogging this under individual account, previously a member of Gaz'n'Kab account.
The roadtrip to end all roadtrips has begun! Gaz'n'Kab and catscatscats22 have left all but their trusty steed behind, and have embarked on the most epicest adventures across Australia
After a great two days at the nearby event, we headed off back off with a plan to grab a couple of caches Some of the convoy had already completed the puzzle part of this cache so we thought we were going straight to GZ, however the GPS did not have the updated coords we realised We headed off further along the road and began completing the puzzle again when we soon had a likely set of numbers and made our way over to GZ Once there we ran into a familiar group and after the usual chit chat, we quickly had the cache in hand and added our names to the logbook [^]

I believe it was August 2012 when I first clocked this listing. Back then Fangsoki and I cut a big circuit of the general Toowoomba area picking up whatever icons we had on the map. Sadly, the Cooby Dam area was locked off, and even though some heroes had been hopping the gates to find this one, we felt we'd get it 'another day'. It seems though, I'm never just 'in the area'.
Though, noting it is still unfound and an older listing, I was keen for it this trip. After the [2016 Rural Challenge](http://coord.info/GC6FDQE) yesterday, Gaz'n'Kab, catscatscats22 and I are headed home. We're all a bit tired, but that won't stop us grabbing a few on the way.
Somehow, getting to the solved co-ordinates was a bit of a drama. The in-car GPSr was a bit of a liar, telling us roads existed that did not, in reality. A bit of common sense later had us on the right track. We hopped out and had a look where my years-old solution suggested. A quick look, however, at the geocache listing proved that it did not match the area we were in at all. Oops.. something's gone wrong.
Of course, we could always solve it again, in the field. Being windy out though, we retired back into the car and headed for where we felt might be closer to the geocache. There, however was no reception for online searches or phone calls. Fine then, we'll do it old school. Kab was reading questions, Gaz was picking the best answer and I had an A4 page of notes, arrows and odd diagraphs. Still no reasonable answer though. No matter, a bit of common sense and we'd butchered a somewhat broad, but likely location to search.
Four sets of eyes should make this easy. We chose to start from the top, but we were hardly out of the car when Kab spotted joojoo57 and RichmondLad looking near where we suspected the geocache might be. Even though they weren't sure, at least six sets of eyes would make it even easier.
Using some hints found on the geocache page, the search was narrowed and while I was checking elsewhere, Kab spotted the geocache from above. The group compiled at GZ and the first thing I did was record the correct co-ordinates. Then the logbook was signed and replaced out of sight. Oh my, what a trial getting this one. Not the first though that I've managed to completely brutalise. A lovely area and an informative puzzle. Thanks for the geocache, Timmos

After a fantastic day at [Rural Challenge 2016](http://coord.info/GC6FDQE) yesterday, Team Canyonero still had daylight to put to good use. With Fangsoki at the wheel and Crew153 in Command central the Powerful Purple Paj headed out to the Bunya's and back, and our last cache together was here. A quick puzzle to sort out, although finding the road in was less easy - but we prevailed and were soon in a deserted, and rather lovely, parkland area. A quick find as per the hint - despite me choosing the other option in the park to search first.
Thanks for placing this cache, Timmos. Found in good condition.

Up early after attending the 2016 Rural Challenge, decided to do a number of caches on the way back to Brisbane. What a great area for a cache. It would be very popular in the warmer months. Approached GZ and after short time searching, along came some other cachers. Cache was soon found TFTC.
After a great weekend away at the 2016 Rural Challenge I followed Pprime and Fangsoki from Crows Nest and stopped off to find this cache on the way home.
I had solved the puzzle 4 years ago and had it on the list of caches to find one day. Glad to finally get here to find it.

Oh cache - I have looked at you for soooo many years - and now I have finally got you!
I had solved this one quite a while ago - but due to the area being shut, I didn't grab the cache. Then - when the area was open - it felt like I was never nearby to grab it.
Today, I wanted to change that fact. Pprime, Crew 153, and I approached this one and parked up. I have to say I've never been here before - but it certainly is a picturesque little area.
We made our way to GZ. Pprime seemed to be interested in another area - but I soon came up with well-hidden prize. We signed the log and re-hid the cache as found.
A great little puzzle and a nice place to visit. Happy to have this one crossed off. TFTC Timmos

Returning home via Toowoomba area after attending the 2016 Rural Challenge in Crows Nest. After a bit of a search some other cachers arrived and we widened the search and it was soon located and all signed the log. Lovely quiet spot here this morning. Thanks Timmos.
WillPunkey the toddler and I took a drive out to Cooby to grab the caches. This one was it too difficult to solve and was found in good condition. thanks Timmos
Solved the puzzle and headed off to find the cache hoping that the dam wall was open! So happy to see be open sign! Easy find, with no snakes or spiders to be seen!! Heading off to grab the other few caches!! TFTC!
I'm in Toowoomba for a few days of camping and caching by myself
Day 3, and Nurseyjulie has arrived from Brisbane [^] This one has been solved for a long time, and I quite enjoyed working through it all. Today we took the time to visit the area and gather a few caches. It's quite a pretty spot, but only 2 other cars here at lunch time. Too hot perhaps? A short walk and a quick find. TFTC, Timmos.

Out doing a hike this morning with my geodaughter in preparation for her up-coming school camp. After completing the 8km walk we headed off for a few easier drive by caches including this one. Had never been out this way before so it was a surprise to find such a lovely picnic area next to the dam. Also a surprise to see some fishing going on despite the No Fishing signs in existence. Looked a litle bit before we eventually found the cache but all is in good order. TFTC

I had this puzzle solved ages ago and was waiting till I got in the area to find it.

Parked nearby and headed in.
Geopartner beckoned me to try there and I did and came up with a container.

Yay!!! Now the dam is open again we have finally been able to convert this to a smiley after solving it at least two years ago!! Incentive to come out increased by all the new Speedmistress caches in the area. A lovely morning out with the family. TFTC.
After finding two other nearby caches and the rain setting in we decided to brave the rain for this one as we had the puzzle solved just for this trip. We went up and up again only to realise we needed to be down and down again. Finally arriving at GZ the rain had decided to stop! Easily able to sign the log and return the cache. TFTC Timmos
What a fabulous day for a bit of caching. I have had the coordinates worked out for this one for quite some time.... and .... today was the day. The picnic grounds were pretty much deserted today and the find was well described and thought out. Thank you for a great cache Timmos. SL TNLN TFTC

What an enjoyable cache find today [^]
We sorted out some co-ords last night after plans were made to celebrate Australia Day long weekend with a big BBQ at Cooby Dam. After enjoying the BBQ with many friends and family from church we went for a walk up to the dam wall. Hoping to grab the cache on the way we were disappointed to see a table full of people happily settled in for afternoon nibbles sitting right near the gz.
So up to the dam wall we went, looked, enjoyed and headed back. Muggles still there....
aha... geokids ran ahead to play game of 'hide and seek' at the gz and the muggles at the table didn't even look twice at the kids emerging from their 'hiding spots' with cache in hand It's what you call 'creative caching'
We loved this picnic spot - really nice walks, fabulous play equipment, yummy bbq and a great day out [^] Thanks for placing a cache here to make it even better

This Cache has been on our to do list since we moved into the area, but the Dam wall picnic area has been closed off to visitors and we were not prepared to jump the fence and run the gauntlet with the authorities.
We can happily report that the picnic area is full repaired and open to the public once again. We took the drive out here today to find a well presented area that is just waiting for day visitors once again.
We were able to park the car quite close to GZ and then took the short walk to find this unvisited and unloved cache. It did contain a little water, which we drained, but we were still able to sign the log book before replacing it and add a smile to this part of our map.
Lets hope, now that it is open again that this place receives many visitors in the search of this GeoCache.
Cheers

Argh, that's disappointing. The only icon left in the area and the Dam is closed. Looks like it will be closed for a while too given the permanent sign that is placed at the intersection.
I solved this one a few weeks ago and was going to get it when I was out this way for a family get-to-gether.
The dam wall picnic area is still closed off and I did not have time to sneak back. So today I drove out there again and made my way to the cache.
It had a little water in it so I drained it out and cleaned up the inside a little bit. The log book was mostly dry (a little damp around the edges) but otherwise OK.
Thanks for cache.

Spent the weekend in Crows Nest and decided to grab some caches on the way up and back. Have tried to get this cache twice now but each time the dam is closed, will try again next time.
Wow, hard to believe it's 18 months since my unsuccessful visit here. Found myself in the area today, and with the dam wall area open we decided to head down for a look. I've never been down to this area before, it's a lovely place that is well worth the visit. Such a shame the council feels the need to close it off so frequently. Found cache easily enough after getting a face full of spider webs. TFTC Timmos.
Cooby Cooby Doo where are you ??!!!
I decided to find out this morning
A few minutes of reading the notes and a few more minutes of scribbling down some numbers had a set of coordinates I could work with
I like puzzle caches I can band-aid together in the field [^]
The only problem this morning was finding a way to GZ.
Turns out it wasn't hard.
There was a street sign pointing the way
Finally down by the completely deserted surrounds of GZ, I wandered around to find me the cache.
It is so neat and tidy !!
I enjoyed a long stroll across and down and along and back up again in the rain.

Turns out it wasn't hard.
There was a street sign pointing the way
Finally down by the completely deserted surrounds of GZ, I wandered around to find me the cache.
It is so neat and tidy !!
I enjoyed a long stroll across and down and along and back up again in the rain.

We have had this one on the to do list for a long time so took the chance today and headed out there. The cache is in good condition. SL TNLN TFTC

Just going to log this one as a note, to log a DNF I would have had to had a look. Foiled by a locked gate, however I am not completely convinced it was THE locked gate mentioned in other logs as it looked more like a farm gate than an over engineered Government issue item.
Righto, after an unsuccessful insertion this morning, we tried again this afternoon after some satellite surveillance intel was reviewed. Pretty amazing really when I think of Mum owning a "Box Brownie" camera and saving up to get a few photos developed and I can tap a couple a couple of buttons and have access to images taken from space that are so clear I can see fences and gates of the track I want to take.
I loaded a couple of 'way-points' to the car nav so we again didn't end up at the locked gate we found at the end of a long, rough gravel track this morning as the sat pics showed bitumen nearly all the way to GZ.
What a gem of a place, I have lived here for 30 years and didn't know this well equipped and pristine family playground ever existed.
A false start had us within 8metres of the GZ but no way to get to it. A quick back track and attack it from a different level soon had us at the GZ for relatively easy find.
Caught short with no swaps I had to resort to dollars Australian to cover my trading. Took the Water Pistol (That will be used to stop the cat whinging at the bedroom door) and left $1.50.
Cache and log are both in very good condition.

Headed off to find this one today but the access was closed due to bacteria levels. Hopefully I'll get a chance next time I'm in the area.
We were out for an afternoon drive and decided that the dam was a good place to go.
Unfortunately we trusted the GPSr to lead us via roads to the cache rather than the signposts. So we ended up a no through road - voip road. It looks as though the Garmin maps don't show the privatge road that goes to the picnic area. Another lesson learnt.
Bee2 didn't stop laughing as we past the sign that we had previously ignored. Anyway a bit of an off road adventure.
cache was an easy find. No-one else nearby although a few people were up on the dam wall watching the water level rise.

Saw in today's Toowoomba Chronicle that the Dam wall Picnic Area at Cooby Dam is once again open.
I wonder how long this time before some one finds blue green algae and it gets closed to the public once again.

Just noticed on the Toowoomba Regional Council website that Cooby Dam Wall Picnic area is closed again due to blue green algae - www.toowoombarc.qld.gov.au/index.php?...cooby-dam
After several attempts to get to this cache, today the picnic area was open. It was nice and quiet with no muggles (that I saw anyway)
The cache is in good condition.

My 2nd DNF for the day in the Meringandan district - a bit disappointing to come home without a cache.
Considering the nearest access road to this is closed, I decided to approach this one from the long way round, by parking at Loveday Cove and walking around on the walking tracks. A bit over 2km as the crow flies (probably closer to 4km by the track) from the cache. Got to the area near the dam wall, only 170m from the cache, when some council (presumably) workers spotted me, drove over, and told me how the area was closed, closed for a reason, and that I had to leave or I could be fined. So off I trudged all the way back to Loveday Cove without notching up a find.
It is quite a nice bushwalk for anyone so inclined, but I think for now it is better to leave this one alone until they officially re-open the area.

Sorry for inconvenience for this one. I have had to disable it for a short time. With Toowoomba Dams at an all time low, the access to the cache is not possible. As soon as the Dam wall access road reopens, this Cache will be Game on.
In the mean time I am developing the second in the First Aid series to accompany this one. Keep an eye out for new listings in the Highfields area in lateFeb. Timmo

Managed to get as far as the gate and saw the signs about the dam wall being closed. The gate was locked and there was a car on the other side so I decided to leave this one for another day.
Till next time.
Till next time.
Found this one at 0745. Whilst driving to the dam noticed a sign saying dam wall area closed and picnic area at base of dam wall closed.
Drove on and saw another sign with same message and a grid with a closed Gate ( not locked) and a big stop sign.
I parked the car here and walked the 500meters down to the area just past the picnic area and then walked back to GZ.
A car was driving towards me and it was as Council ranger driving it who was not too concerned or upset with me and he asked me what I was doing so I was honest and explained geocaching to him then I walked out again.
Good chance not every ranger/council employee will be so polite but this road does access a grazing property further down stream from the dam.
Quick to find. Should have checked council's web page before I left home at 0430 this morning for a day of caching including Table Top. Took TB left toy TFTCSL
