I'd stored this one offline, so I hadn't noticed this had just been disabled. Circled the visitor centre, read interesting stuff, but the needed info was conspicuously absent.
Nice place though - right nearby saw a couple of koalas, a brown snake, and an over-friendly emu.

I was on a road trip to Colac, and accidently went to Warrnambool on the way, and this was one of the Earth caches I managed to on my meandering through the countryside. Answer were collected and sent to CO . Thanks for taking us to another area we may have driven past. TFTEC
A wander around the hill today,
took me to the a couple of high points in the crater.
After conquering the heights,
I headed for the visitor info centre where I discovered this EC was located
A wander around and lots of reading the boards in the core of the structure didn't exactly reveal the answers I sought !!
The boards still mention how this geologic marvel was created,
but it seems that the exact numbers needed are not to be found anymore [:o]
Defeated ??

Well I already know some of the stuff about this place,
and the numbers I needed I gave me best educated guess.
Though I think I was a little over optimistic with the questing involving rock throwing
I threw meself on the mercy of the court ...
... and got the OK to claim this fabulous Earthcache

A tough climb, but well worth it for the views!

Thanks for the cache.! - Adam & Kahlia
We were going to "find" this cache, then I read the notes, and we had already climbed to the view. No photos though. Another day.
A quick stop off on the drive from Portland to Warrnambool this morning led us to the brilliant Tower Hill. Lots of wildlife spotting, hill climbing and exploring at a spot we could've easily driven on past. Thanks for a great Earthcache!
Had a short time to visit tower hill.

A trip east to Parkville 2018 had us stopping on the way to collect a few caches and again stopping on the way home. Well that’s what cachers do when they head to a mega don’t they.

A great drive. Everyone should do it and think about what happened here 32000 and 7000 years ago.
Found on the Parkville mega event round trip. This cache added to the experience.

Visited this cache as part of a month long holiday in Australia. We like volcanic landscapes and have visited many across the world. It was a nice surprise to find one in Australia as we had not realised that volcanos were still evident here. It was an even nicer surprise to find this reserve with so much wildlife- close up views of koalas, emu and a wallaby were a treat. Although it was only a flying visit en-route from Halls Gap to Port Fairy we enjoyed our visit and the steep walk up to the top of Tower Hill with great views across the crater and to the coast.

Without geocaching we'd have never found this lovely and interesting place, with the bonus of a hatful of caches. Having never seen a wild koala before today, we saw 2 here in the space of half an hour, plus loads of emus and kangaroos.
When we arrived we thought some cattle had been in because of all the cow pats; then we saw an emu in action and realsed our error.
The craters were amazing and well worth the walks.
Many thanks to bucketeer.
Found on another road trip with Dr Owl, this time focussing on multi's with other caches thrown in along the way.
Way back in my early and very inexperienced caching days I provided to some answers to the previous CO. At the tine there was the ALR of including a photo from your visit and I didn't have a photo. Find log deleted!!
This visit I was more knowledgeable and had a wise owl to help me.
Thanks for the cache bucketeer.

A location familiar from Owl's childhood, but she hadn't really examined its geology that closely - a situation which was certainly rectified today. A visit to the information centre (actually for an icecream , but that's beside the point!) gathered the required information, googling, memory and observation got the rest. Thanks!
Our first intentional earth cache. Enjoyed the walk up the hill and grabbed another cache while we were at it. Beautiful spot. We may have found a quicker way to get back down and do the loop around the lake . Great day out. Searching with the geokids. TFTC
Down this way for the day with the crew. We decided to cache Tower Hill. What an amazing place. Tftc
We arrived here rather late in the day and we regretful for that. However, we did have just enough time to visit the shop to learn more about the park and its formation.
Both me and my girlfriend (geologist) loved this place and wished we'd planned better!
Think it was a toss-up between the mini-summits within the park, the lakes & the layers of the crater wall near the entrance that we liked most - plus the emus & kangaroos (I'm English, sorry)
Email sent to CO, fingers crossed?

Logging after very quick response from CO - a nice brisk walk up the hill with bonus of a cache in place. Plenty of friendly wildlife and photo of some of the scores cone included (plus tuff ring in the background) - TFTC
Tag along and I have forwarded our answers for your perusal for this EC.
As he is recovering from a hip replacement we walked around only a few of the trails. It was pleasant to get out and about and enjoy this natural wonder. We will most definitely be back.
Thanks for highlighting the area bucketeer.

Due to very inclement weather I didn't stop for a photo opportunity. The day was very wet and the wind was howling around the kiosk as I sat supping my lovely hot coffee.

What a fantastic day we had here. We did a little bit of walking and found a few caches along the way. We had no idea when we arrived that the area was created by what we learnt doing the earthcache. We saw heaps of animals and saw some wonderful views from some of the higher places.
Thanks Bucketeer for setting up the cache.

Nice find on our way to Melbourne. Awesome place Thanks for bringing us here. Favorite point for sure. TFTC and greetings from Montréal Québec
Thanks for the effort you put into this one. We weren't going to climb to the top but your earthcache inspired us. And what a view.
My last full day of holidays in Warrnambool and with another mild day i thought i would tackle the Tower Hill caches today. The terrain is a bit much for the geofamily so they stayed at the caravan park so i can at least make good time doing these ones solo.
Absolutely loved hiking around the area today, taking in the views, meeting kangaroos and emus and learning about the geology and history of the area. And finding great caches! Thx Bucketeer for your great EC.

Came here today with my family and we loved the place. We started in the visitors center to collect answers, buy ice cream and souvenirs, then set off on two different walks to try to spot some wildlife. e looked hard but only saw a kangaroo. Then back at the picnic area after 1½h of walking we saw emu and koala there .
Thank you for the earth cache - great place for demonstrating this type of volcanoe.

What a climb that was. Logging the answers added to the knowledge learned of Tower Hill. Enjoyed the climb, the view the extra knowledge and emu's at the nature centre today.
What an amazing place! We loved the wildlife - plenty of emus & koalas but also surprised a kangaroo on the path - and the volcanic history, particularly around the crater rim and the scoria cones. View from the top towards the ocean is unbeatable.
We’re on a mission!! After our trip to Adelaide earlier this year we only had 8 LGA’s left for the LGA Polygon Challenge Cache. A couple of driving lessons for a friends daughter ticked off 2, a day trip to Wangaratta etc a couple of weeks ago ticked off another 2 and so we have 4 more left in the South West corner of Victoria. And so with our 25th (!!) wedding anniversary looming we decided to both take some Long Service Leave from work and spend a week down here in the area, staying at Port Fairy
Today was another LGA ticked off and a great few hours spent walking around Tower Hill - this was a fantastic walk up to the summit puff puff puff! Great views!
Took the required photo - to be attached and answers will be sent to you bucketeer

20/09/2017 21:56 The girls are on their sewing retreat so the men went touring. I found a few caches such as this with akpa5 and Ian, a muggle. I decided to get the Earthcache nearby and that required a photo . As I was in the Information kiosk I collected the required data then headed off on my ownas the others were not well/not keen. I walked back along the path to the track up the hill. Despite needing a break part way up (I was puffed), it wasn't too bad and descent was a breeze. I almost ran into one of the emus here too. At the top of the hill I took the picture and got back to the cafe to pickup the others.. TFTC bucketeer TNLN SL
This is a note to hold my space until I get the answers from my caching buddy who wrote them down.
It's my second day in Australia! Yesterday micaparamedic picked me up at the airport and the adventure began. We packed my things into his vehicle and began the journey to Uluru, as walking around that "rock" was on my bucket list.
Along the way we stopped for special earthcaches at locations that would teach me some geology of this huge country. Some things were concepts with which I was familiar; however, most were things I had never seen or even known about. I was constantly trying to wrap my head around new things - not just the geology, but other things like birds, animals and trees. (and getting in on the correct passenger side of the car)
The geology of this location was new for me - I did see similar sites later on our travels, but this one is the first. The view from the top is incredible!
Thanks for bringing me here.

It was a cold, wet windy day as I set out to find a few local caches. Tower Hill was my destination. I started the day with a walk to find a cache at the far end of the park, and ended up at the visitor centre. The information for the logging the cache was quickly found within the warmth of the building. As I had places to be I scuttled away. Thanks for placing and maintaining this Cache, Bucketeer!
Holidaying with the kids in Port Fairy and this morning we headed to Tower Hill. We huffed and puffed up the peak (see pics) and then visited the info centre to gather some more clues. Such an awesome geological site here. Answers emailed. Thanks for bringing us here again.
It's been a couple of years since I found all the required info and sent it off - back in the old hood for a visit and it's about time I finished this one off ..
Suscoe is logging this Earth Cache find with the permission of the Owner bucketeer!
Well the Port Fairy Folk Festival had just ended and we headed off to gather some caches that we had not found.
We headed to the listed co-ordinates and located the information required. An emu greeted us as we walked back to the vehicle.
Then for the second stage, up to Tower Hill and the peak viewing area. How good is this!!
There were a number of other folks enjoying the climb and the views.
We must thank bucketeer for creating this Earth Cache.
Tower Hill has been a part of our yearly trip to the "Folkie", as we pass it we know we are almost there and that means a Labor Day weekend full of splendid music. A favourite from us!!!

Having traveled to Portland for a countdown event for the 2017 Melbourne Mega we had another day to explore the nearby county and find some more caches. Today we joined with Mogni, Aussie M&M and Sir Spectre and headed towards Warrnambool and Tower Hill before returning to Portland for some night caching.
Found the answers required whilst enjoying several walks around the reserve today. Thanks bucketeer.

In the area with Aussie M & M, Sir Spectre and brisal5. The walk to the top was hard work and required some hard breathing on my part.... The wildlfe was plentiful and of course the views were beautiful.

We have spent the day here at Tower Hill Reserve, what a fantastic place, we saw a very large koala, an echidna, kangaroos, emu's and heard and saw many birds, we also evidence of rabbits. The kiosk was a wonderful place to spend some time, so many interesting items for sale and then there are the information boards. SL TFTC

TFTC. We have ridden push bikes passed this site as well as driven passed in the car and Motorhome with out stopping. We are in Warrnambool for a few days and made sure this site would be visited. Using geocaching as a guide we walked and visited . At the information centre a couple of koala and the odd emu. On the trails searching for caches plenty of evidence of wallabies and rabbits. Did spot a snake as we were driving out of the park. The views from the little ok ours are stunning and worth the effort.
We collected the information from the visitor centre for logging when we got back to camp. A thoroughly enjoyable morning.

I liked this cache as it was truly a great place to visit and the conditions of the cache ensure you actually pay attention to the information provided about the site. I walked the lava tongue boardwalk and the walk to the summit. I enjoyed all the information about how tower hill was formed and the geological details of how each feature serves as a clue to unraveling the full story of the crater. I also enjoyed seeing how each feature of the area creates different habitats and how the flora and fauna make use of each habitat. The walk to the summit was a good workout for someone of my meduim fitness level. We visited the site four years ago and there was no water in the surrounding lakes, therefore it was great to see the lakes as actual lakes rather than dry plains this time around. I have attached a panorama from the edge of the crater.
During our 1 month journey Primile and I visited this Earthcache on our day tour along the Great Ocean Road to Warrnambool. Thanks to bucketeer for placing such a beautiful Earthcache here!! On our way from the visitors center to the summit we saw some Emus and Kangaroos TFTC with 1 favorite point from us and many greetings from Austria.
The third cache in a morning of Tower Hill geocaching. It was great finding out more about the geology and history of Tower Hill. Heaps of wildlife about today. Cheers for the cache! Answers have been sent.
I went to this beautiful place now the third time and hiked the Peak Climb my second time. There is still so much to see and enjoy that I cannot get sick of this place. I spent a great day enjoying all hiking trails and walked half of the volcano rim to visit some lookouts. I wonder when I am going to be back?
What I am enjoying most is the peaceful nature and the look onto the lake(s) throughout my walks from different points of view. That is so unique! This time I found and logged my first caches in Australia which makes Tower Hill even more special for me. I will remember my day here as a very precious and enjoyable day and hope that I will be back soon. Thanks for the cach! It made me reading the information boards in the tourist center and finally I learned how this place emerged. TFTC and many greetings from Heidelberg/ Germany!

found on the return from the surf coast mega. I learnt about how the park was formed and hiked around most of it. Even saw a couple of emus near the visitors centre.
Day two of my travels, which will incorporate the Surf Coast Event in the middle. I travelled from Warrnambool to Mt Gambier, collecting a few caches along the way to break my journey, but with the main intent on collecting the confluence at S38° E 141°.
I have been to Tower Hill several times, but not for a while. Today I visited some new places (thanks to some traditional caches) and learnt a lot more about its formations (thanks to this earth cache). Logged with permission.

Two Norwegian travellers on vacation/geocaching in Australia. Travelling by car from Brisbane to Adelaide with stops in interesting and not so interesting places.
Until now: Coolum Beach - Kilcoy, Stanthorpe, Byron Bay, Port Macquire, Nelson Bay, Hunter Valley, Wagga Wagga, Beechworth and Melbourne.
After Melbourne we are moving slowly westward and will stop at the villages and small towns along the coast. Yesterday we left Apollo Bay and arrived Warrnambool in the afternoon. Rainy day today so not so much geocaching. But we went to Tower Hill and hoped the rain will stop. Not a good day for trekking. Collected all informations at the visitors center and headed back to town.

Day 2 of the girls' road trip to Warrnambool, which then extended out to Bendigo on day 3. On day 4 we picked up another passenger for Harry as the new passenger needed a lift to Adelaide.
Today we headed back out to Tower Hill, accompanied by micaparamedic, to find Alex' Towering Inferno [^] Then it was off to the 1 month to the Surf Coast Event - Warrnambool for lunch of some great sausages before we wandered the location with other friendly geocachers and finally GoodLook and I drove around Warrnambool and found some caches on our own
18 caches found , only 2 DNFs [^] and 1 event attended
I do like earthcaches and this one is in a most awesome place!
By night last night and in the morning today, I really enjoyed this area and the geological features [^]
Such a pretty place and despite not seeing an echidna I did see emus up close and personal and a koala in a tree
We entered the information area and gathered the necesary answers and naturally I had to play with the rocks on display.... from very light to very heavy
Now as for that hill climb
micaparamedic will send in the answers for our group [:X]

Oh I LOVE Tower Hill....we were here last night for an event and then back again first thing this morning to check out the Natural History Visitor's Centre and enjoy a walk in nature. What a gorgeous morning it was to be out in the fresh air with friends (with only a few light spots of rain).
Talk about déjà vu ..... this is the second weekend in a row that I have been on a girls caching road trip with Locus Cache to Victoria. This time however it was a fabulous 4 day jaunt AND we may have even brought back a lovely Victorian fella with us (micaparamedic).....ALWAYS an enjoyable time when we hang out!
Kaye and I travelled from Adelaide to the beautiful Warrnambool area to attend a Friday night picnic in the park event and then on Saturday we enjoyed a yummy BBQ lunch at the 1 month to the Surf Coast Mega Event. Bendigo was our next overnight stop and then we headed home....which only took us 15 HOURS!! haha It wasn't the Little Desert National Park we got lost in this weekend, it was Murray Sunset National Park...LOL - but we did get a joint first to find which made the detour all worth it....who needs to get 8hours sleep before needing to be at work the next day anyway??
We targeted a number of caches over the weekend, including some oldies of Alex...very cool finding original ammo cans in the bush and some to help out the D/T grid!
Once again the conversations were highly amusing and we enjoyed lots of belly laughter!! haha [:o)]
We saw kangaroos, emus, lots of birds and a whole heap of water due to recent heavy rains.
GEOCACHING ROCKS!!! [:X]

What an amazing area! From the curving drive through the crater marvelling at the basalt outcrops to the various hikes around the crater overlooking the lake , we spent the afternoon admiring the park and the habitat of many native wildlife. With a well earned rest at the visitors centre we found the answers we were looking for and then continued onto the picnic event close by.
Thanks bucketeer for bringing to our attention the fascinating geology of Tower Hill.

After driving down with Lukie1987 to attend a couple of events in Warrnambool and nearby environs I was keen to complete this cache prior to the event proper.
Unfortunately, not having read the description I hadn't realised that the information for satisfactorily answering the questions posed was contained on information boards in the visitor's centre, which of course was closed, it being 6.00pm on a Friday night.
Nonetheless, between Luke and I reading the boards from afar we managed to cobble together most of that which was requested.
After contacting the CO and explaining the gaps both in written and visual information the CO kindly agreed to allow us to log a find.
I thank the CO for the permission as well as drawing attention to this very picturesque national park. I would have liked to have seen it prior to the logging with the original flora intact.
Even after the damage done, the area is still beautiful. Although I took a picture from near GZ of another cache I think it appropriate to attach it to this log.
Lukie1987 and I had found a number of earthcaches during our trip down but I think this was my favourite. No far vistas but so very pretty.

We visited this afternoon with The Tritonz. It was a stunning day for a walk and this one certainly got the blood pumping. Amazing views from the top, thanks bucketeer for encouraging us to explore and think about the formation of this area. Answers e-mailed.
We entered this park with the intention to blitz all the caches, but with the wet and windy weather and the child not feeling too great we could only do a couple. We did manage to force the kids to walk up to the top of the hill and taken the wonderful scenery. Of course they were Pokémon hunting on the way up! The view from up here really is spectacular and it is hard to imagine that the water around the island can actually fully dry out. What a great spot and some good learning for me. Thanks for bringing us here. Looking forward to coming back one-day and finding the others in the area TFTC
Ventured to Tower Hill to walk some tracks, view some bird life and of course log some caches, on a perfect spring day. (Also taking a break in solving some of the Portland Puzzle in the Park mystery caches!) Thanks for bringing me to conquer the hill climb, great views.
Logged with permission. Thanks Bucketeer for making me walk this Peak Climb. It was worth it for the spectacular views.
Out today with AutumnCS and the geokids on this cold wet windy winter day. Perfect day to hike up some hills!! Great views are even better if you have to earn them. TFTC.
Our current visit to Australia had been in the planning for over a year with the very significant help and advice from friends who live in Melbourne. The original plan was for a 2 month visit, but as things progressed we just couldn't help extending our trip to the full 90 days allowed on our visas - after all it's a big country and so much to see and do, especially with our favourite pastimes being birding, hiking and of course geocaching! We are currently on the first section of our journey, which started with our arrival at Perth airport followed by a day cycling around Rottnest Island before travelling on to Adelaide where we met up with our friends. We then continued on to spend some time on Kangaroo Island. We are currently on route to Melbourne via Goolwa, Strathalbyn, Coorong, Mount Gambier, Cape Bridgewater, the Grampians National Park, Port Campbell (where we are heading to at present), Cape Otway and Lorne, cramming in as much as possible on route. From Melbourne we head to Tasmania for a few days, then back to Melbourne before setting off to Sydney via Wilson’s Promontory, Lakes Entrance, Mallacoota, Pambula Beach, Thredbo, Canberra and Fitzroy Falls. After a visit to Sydney we will travel on to the Gold Coast, then after spending a few days in the nearby mountainous birding hotspots, followed by an overnight trip to Fraser Island, we will fly from Brisbane to Cairns, visiting yet more good birding sites. We will then drive up to Cape Tribulation before heading back south again to Port Douglas and a day out on the Great Barrier Reef. We then return to Cairns for the flight to Alice Springs, where we will hire a 4x4 camper and set off for a week on the circuit to and from Kings Canyon and Ayers Rock. We then fly to Darwin from where we will spend the last two weeks of our holiday making our way to Broome via Kakadu, Cooinda, Katherine Gorge, Kununarra, Lake Argyle, Emma Gorge, the Bungle Bungle’s and Fitzroy Crossing. Our last two nights in Australia will be spent in Broome before we fly back to Perth, from where we will connect with the flight all the way back home to Zimbabwe via South Africa. We already know we can't wait to return!
Thanks so much for a very interesting Earthcache in an area we thoroughly enjoyed exploring. Answers sent to the CO and thanks so much for the cache!

We spent a few days in Warrnambool recently with a day exploring Tower Hill. Climbed, walked and wandered. Saw echidnas, emus and even some emu eggs left over from a hatching. Thanks for the cache, it made sure we sought out the info provided and learn along the way.
Find by pnutbeagle and The Marathon Man (Northern Ontario Canada) continuing our vacation in Australia after having spent 4 weeks in Australia. Also enjoying the great weather in Australia of 25+°C. We are also away from the -3° C and snow back home in NorthWestern Ontario, Canada.
Another great day of geocaching in Victoria, Australia. Today we did not get that far today - Warrnambool to Tower Hill National Park, back to Warrnambool and then on to the Great Ocean Road where we have stopped in Peterborough for the night. Who cares how far we get - we are on Holidays and away from Work.
Interesting information at the visitor;s centre regarding the earthcache - The Marathon Man will send in the answers as soon as he can before we log the find

We are keen geocachers on holiday from New Zealand. Just loved this interesting area and all the wildlife we have spotted, including koalas, snakes and friendly emus. We watched a person practising throwing a boomerang and catching it as well. They DO come back and your head better not be in the way as they are very fast and look lethal. Have sent the info - thanks bucketeer, great place for an earthcache. TFTC
Logging with permission. Had a great time playing boomerang football with Paul & learning about Tinika's artwork in the visitor info centre. Loved exploring all the trails geocaching has taken us this morning. Seen many emus, kangaroos & wallabies. Thanks for the very informative earthcache. We've had a brilliant morning. The aerial pic is amazing!
With Bucketeer's permission I'd like to log this cache. It was a bit of a nostalgia trip wandering around Tower Hill as, once upon a time, not long after it was created, I spent most of a year there undertaking a geophysical survey of the site for my University of Melbourne Honours thesis.
It is also probably appropriate that this is my first Earth Cache.
Thanks Bucketeer.

Visiting the area from Adelaide, and staying with muggle friends at nearby Port Fairy, we decided to take a look at Tower Hill, and pick up a cache or two in the process. What an amazing place. I especially loved the layered deposits visible as you drive down to the kiosk, and then the wildlife we found there. Even watched a koala walking, then running, across the lawn, looking for a gum tree to climb. Details have been posted to the CO. TFTC, and for the geography lesson.
We had an enjoyable visit here today and have fulfilled our obligations with the cache owner. An amazing place with great views from the summit. You really do have to appreciate the places that you find thanks to Geocaching! We have been asked to describe what we found most interesting about our visit - it was actually the huge argument between two of the staff outside the Visitors Centre with the third staff member trying to placate the others! Other than that we loved the emus and how close we could get to them. Thanks bucketeer for bringing us here. TFTC
Michael and I thoroughly enjoyed the geology lesson this earthcache gave us today
A steep climb for us oldies to the highest point but we did it

I've been passing by Tower Hill for well over 20 years, and each time I drive past I say/think, "Really should take a proper look at that next time..."
So having stayed in the area an extra day after the Port Fairy Folk Festival, finally that day had arrived! Spannaworks and the kids were all equally keen to check out a real volcano as well, hopefully see some wildlife, and of course there was the added incentive of possibly doing a few caches along the way.
What an absolutely fascinating location this turned out to be! Even the drive in kept the kids glued to the windows looking at the rock formations as we wound our way toward the car park, and they were stoked to see five or six emus and two koalas almost immediately after exiting the car.
I'm a big fan of reading interpretive information at significant sites, so this Earthcache was a pleasure to tackle and we quickly had all the info needed for the questions, so then it was off to do the Peak Climb, which everyone (including our five year old) managed just fine (thankfully!), picking up another (more traditional) cache along the way.
At the peak of the Tower Hill scoria cone we were rewarded with spectacular views of the surrounding landscape, all the way back to Port Fairy - magnificent stuff!
Logging this with permission from the CO - thanks again, bucketeer, for providing the incentive to better explore this amazing place. We'll definitely be back.

We visited the Tower hill area today. At first we took the breath-taking climb to the Tower hill top, then we examined the other info in the visitor centre. Our answers have been sent to CO.
As a bonus we saw koala, emus and black wallabi.
Thanks for the very informative earthcache, greetings from Finland!

The stars had aligned - days off for both of us and mild weather meant that we could take a short getaway, so we chose to come and explore Warrnambool for a couple of nights.
After spending yesterday and this morning exploring the town area, we decided to go west and visit Tower Hill. We had never been here before and were blown away by this area and all it had to offer. We climbed the peak (of course) and also visited the wetlands. During our visit we saw an emu, a koala, a blue tongue lizard and a snake. The visitor centre was fantastic and explained the geology of this area very well. We only found half the caches here, so we will make another trip back here one day to explore the rest.
Thank you Bucketeer for bringing us here. An awesome place!

Auf dem Weg zur Great Ocean Route haben wir hier einen längeren Stop eingelegt. Wir haben Emus und sogar zwei Koala's gesehen. Die Natur ist zudem ein Erlebnis. - I sent the answers yesterday. T4TC from Germany
Logged with Permission. We drove past this location for the first time on my first year anniversary (pre-kids) and at that time I regretted not stopping. On returning to Port Fairy two kids later I wanted to finally visit this site after my four year old asked if we could see animals and birds that morning. And it didn't disappoint with emus and a koala (and a number of unsighted reptiles). But what also drew me to this place (caches aside!) was its formation and this particular cache allowed me to better understand how this came about. The visitor centre right in the middle took me by surprise, as did the depth of the craters and the view from the top reaching both warnambool and port fairy. We had a great day - Tftc

While travelling with Mutex I’ve found a lot of caches all over Australia. You know, I like the discovering, especially in nature, but am not that much intopcs and internet ..and logging. So we spend a whole day together to indicate all the caches we found together out of his list. Hope you don't mind the standard text aslazy me has to log quitea few now. HopefullyI'm gonnawork on that
Thanks!

At the moment Pfote and me are on a work and travel backpacking trip through the world. After I've spent a full year in Australia Pfote joined me for my second year down here. We will definitely try to collect a lot of boxes and all the special things in every state all around and through the middle.
Our current part of the journey is a roadtrip form Melbourne via the great ocean road to Kangaroo Island and back to Melbourne. Of course, some catching stops are necessary!
This was one of the caches, we've found on the way.

It was our last day in Koroit, and this was our third visit to Tower Hill. My son had made a list of animals that he had to see, and we had seen emus, kangaroos, wallabies, koalas, skinks, bunnies and thankfully no snakes. We woke up at sparrow's and quietly packed up the tent to make a quick getaway. I couldn't leave without completing this EarthCache, as I'd gathered the answers on our first visit. Just a little walk, I told my son. I added that we might see an echidna, which was on his list (we didn't!). We had the place to ourselves as it was 6.30 a.m., and we pretty quickly made the climb to the peak. On the drive out, we had a lovely adventure with two emus, who were ambling down the road and didn't seem at all concerned with us behind them. Not only that, but we got to see a real life volcanic crater. An amazing trip, thanks so much, bucketeer.

Together with Spade52 I traveled for almost 6 weeks through Down Under Australia. We made our trip, using a Spaceship rental car, visiting the 5 most southern states of Australia, New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia and Australia Capital Territory. I was the driver and Spade52 the navigator. We mostly avoided the motorways and mainly used the coastal roads that led us through many small nice and rustic villages and sleeping towns. We stayed in motels, backpacker hostels and occasionally a campsite. Luckily the weather was very agreeable during our trip with nice temperatures and little rain. We especially enjoyed the nature, the (for us) extraordinary flora and Australia's wildlife. On our trip we visited many geocaches. All CO's thanks for showing us many interesting and special spots.
Today we continued our tour along the Great Ocean Road again. On the way we visited some interesting sites, great views and found some geocaches. The location of this earthcache was easy to find, but hard to reach. Very nice hide and awesome location.

It was a bonus to have another cache close to this one. We came here about 15 years ago and an emu snatched my chicken roll and that is our main memory of the place, so it was good to have another look about.
