WA Big Trip Winter 2024. Day 124 - Kununurra Day 1. I took a day trip to Wyndham. There were three stops not too far from Kununurra and one old DNF in Wyndham to be found. I then took a side trip along the King River to visit a dam and a big old Boab tree, where I also had lunch. On my return journey I stopped at the Grotto for a peaceful swim at the vacant water hole before finishing the drive back to Kununurra. After another swim in the pool I headed into town for dinner at the local hotel. This was another old DNF, but oday there was no problems locating it. It even seemed like an original cache, which means I was blind all those years ago. Oh well, there was a cache to be found today. Thanks for the cache Bushies248939.4 TNLNVisited: World Traveling Gold GC A#6 & 2013 Extincor Draconis A#251**Albida**

Quick park and grab after reading the hint.We loved the history and the smal boab trees!
A caching trip from Canberra, ACT to Cape York, Qld and then around the gulf to East Arnhem Land, NT the over the top of WA.Interesting detours to Thursday Island, Mabuiag Island, Mornington Island, Doomadgee, Hells Gate, Nhulunbuy, Wadeye, Litchfield Nat Park and Wyndham.TFTC.Nice quick find around interesting machinery.
So many places to search, thanks to the good hint, a quick find here today. Thanks for the cache.
A nice quick find thanks to the hint!Wyndham is an interesting town.SL TNLN TFTC
Having a look around Wyndham and what it once was in its heyday. It is now pretty quiet, but we can definitely recommend having a pie at the town bakery! TFTC.
Found on our day trip from Kununurra to Wyndham. Took a second look to spot this one as it blended in so well. TFTC
Grabbed this one after our flight to Kununurra. Walked back from the ship and were lucky enough to have a transfer bus come through the gate so we could get out. Found quickly but had to wait for 30 minutes for another vehicle to come through the gate so we could get back into the wharf precinct. Luckily we had a couple of hours up our sleeve before departure time! Good to see that another Gold Coast geocacher had found this yesterday. TFTC Bushies2
Expecting a challenge here we were surprised to locate cache in seconds. The hint is perfect. Tftc

Samuel found this one… 'Oh - *that* flywheel!'
We took the TB…

A clear clue and nice big box made for a simple visit here as the sun was setting. The light did great things amongst the rust. TNLN-TFTC! Great bit of history on show here.

Heading north with richlink on our way to Darwin and beyond enjoying the spectacular scenery and finding a cache or two along our route. Nice quick find here.
Found after a short. We wouldn’t fancy working on this piece of machinery with no air conditioning or padding to sit on.

Found on a warm Monday. The cache container is so old and rusty it blends in well with the surrounding machines. Unfortunate about the bombing by Japan in March 1942.
While the children explored this spot I looked and found after asking husband a question but located and returned before to many muggles arrived
Catching up on some late logs, now that I have time, while travelling.
We are on the road travelling up through central Australian and down the coast of WA. I was happy to grab a few caches along the way and this was one of them.
An easy enough find, once I worked out what the hint was referring to.
Thanks Bushies2 for placing this cache and doing the maintenance, so we can enjoy finding it.

Asked our tour guide to stop here for few minutes. The rest of the tour group enjoyed the display and we soon had the cache in hand. tftc
Find 7 of 15 on another full day of 4WDing, hiking and caching - on a day trip to Wyndham and back.
After 2 on a Sunday and this place was deserted. Took a drive out to the top cache and worked our way back. Quick find here.

Probably would have struggled without the hint. Read all the signs. Lots of history here.

After a good walk this morning through Mirima National Park we headed off to Wyndham to complete the caches there and have a look around town. Sadly the town seems to be dying a slow death with many things shut down and boarded up. We enjoyed seeing the Dreamtime statues at Warriu Park which were very lifelike, the history of the residency and probably the most spectacular the five rivers lookout. A beautiful arvo to be out and about albeit a bit hot.
Had three weeks holiday so decided on a massive road trip to the most northern part of the state - the Kimberley. An area we have never explored, but had always been on the to do list. We travelled through the towns of Mount Magnet, Newman, Port Hedland, Broome, Halls Creek, Kununurra, back to Broome, Karratha, Exmouth, Denham, Geraldton and back home to Perth. It certainly was a very quick trip for the distance covered, over 8,000 kilometres in total, we saw a lot in such a short space of time, but barely scratched the surface of what’s out in these parts.
We would like to thank the individual COs for hiding the caches throughout these parts, from the towns to the highways and byways. Thank you for choosing to share these locations with us and we appreciate the effort you have gone to. Thanks for the fun.

Found while visiting from Canberra. A quick photo stop turned into a quick cache hunt. Found quickly with the hint. TFTC
Traveling australia. Staying at Kununurra. Out exploring the area and thought we would do some caches. Thanks for the cache
Tftc, enjoying a day of caching around Wyndham and seeing the history of the town
On way back to the caravan park with Mrs one-eyed, we stopped here for some photos of the history.
After a good search up came the cache.
Looking forward to compiling a photo book on the outback town.

Made another quick find here while exploring the older parts of Wyndam. Thanks for the hide Bushies2.
After leaving my muggle friends at the Rock, it was time to head north and now west towards El Questro and get a bit of caching down on the way.
After leaving Gregory NP this morning I had a bit of time up my sleeve and so I called into Wyndham to have a look around.
Had a croc pie at the bakery and it was delicious.
The girl at the bakery gave me a map on what to see and do around here.
It would have been an interesting job driving this train around in a large circle in the heat as well.
Thanks Bushies2 TFTC.

We located the object referred to in the hint without any problems, or at least we thought we had . . . Unfortunately that’s where it all fell in heap, as we were unable to locate the cache. Given our track record for finding - or more precisely not finding - magnetic caches on large pieces of machinery, we wouldn’t assume that the cache is missing, just that this Tasmanian team was suffering from cache blindness!!
While on a little drive around tour of town we stopped in here to look at the trains and grab the cache.

The Big Western Australia trip in 2018. Day 14. A morning in and around Kununarra was followed by a Ord River crossing as the Ivanhoe crossing and a back roads trip to Wyndham for dusk.
It was getting late and I needed to find somewhere to stay for the night, but Managed to squeeze in three out of four o the Wyndham caches in the old town. Sad to see the pub has folded. The instructions were quite clear, but I was not able to locate anything, even with my torch.
Thanks.

We are camped at Parry's Lagoon as we continue our meandering across northern Australia from one side to the other after attending the Red Centre Experience over Easter. Today I drove into town for a day's caching by myself and this was stop #5 and DNF #2.
How I hate the ones hidden on machinery and this was no exception. I reckon I spent almost an hour on not finding this one. But thanks for the challenge Bushies2
