It was years ago on our first caching venture to Nundle that we made a start on this cache. Then it got archived and we forgot about it...... that is until a recent discussion with another cacher about how enjoyable it is to go caching in Nundle. And we remembered this was the only one we didn't get to find. So we looked it up.... and it seemed the cache was still there. It was just inaccessible.

Oh, I wish people wouldn't say that, it just makes you want to prove them wrong! Yes, we were off to Nundle. There were a couple of newly published caches to look for on the way to make us feel it wasn't all about this cache, but who were we kidding.Wink

We arrived at the co-ords and quickly found the cache..... inaccessible was a pretty accurate description. Talk about between a rock and a hard place! The ammo can was wedged under tonnes of solid rock and squashed flat in the middle (where later we could just make out the edge of the logbook). We couldn't have been presented with a more impossible scenario but we had to give it a go.

This would be the longest we've spent on a D1 1/2-T2 cache. With a discarded star picket, a rock, various car maintenance tools and a lot of brute force, 2 1/2 hours later we were signing the tightly compressed log with the original pen that somehow made it through unscathed and worked first time (unlike some of the swaps that didn't make it).

If, like us, this cache is gone but not forgotten for other cachers, it's still there - not in great shape, but now easily accessible...... unless that rock decides to move again. TFTC Team Casho, fav for a cache find we won't forget. [^]

As there's been either no response from the cache owner, no cache to find or log to sign, or it's been a number of months since the last owner note. I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace/make available the cache sometime in the near future (next 30 days), just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the current guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it. Should you replace the cache after 30 days has passed please create a new cache listing so it can be reviewed as a new cache.

Hi All
Just an update on how the cache is going.
We have just been in contact with the information centre at Nundle. The upgrade to their collection is still being carried out with a possible expected date of late September / October.
We hope this is still ok with reviewers for it to remain deactivated rather then archived. However should another cachet wish to place a cache in this area we will be only to happy to archive to make room please just send us a quick email or SMS and we will advise when archive is completed.
Thanks and sorry for delay in getting this one up and running again.

We knew this was off-line but still dropped in to the Tourist Info Centre to look at the rocks anyway. WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is amazing, brilliant and wonderful. I was told that the rocks are going to all be displayed in a new lot of cabinets but it might take a year to all be finished. In the meantime, anyone who goes to Nundle must make this stop to see all the rocks or miss a real treasure. Thanks Team Casho, hope we can find the cache in future when it's all redone.

Sorry we have to disable this one for now and it may be off line for a while.
Due to a number of people commenting on the displays being labeled incorrectly the information centre have removed labels and are currently getting collection assesed by geologists. Once we are able to get the correct information and check the listing and cache info re will re activate this one.
Apologies in advance for long period of disabled.
Please feel free to still call into the information centre and check out their collection as it is still on full display.

We didn't know that this one was a mystery cache again because we didn't check on the website and our GPSr just showed tradional icon. Went to Tourist Information and tried to find answers about the rocks, the staff had no idea at all so we gave up. Thanks.

Found but not logged. As part of an intelligence mission for Mr Casho himself, we were sent to confirm to state of this cache. As previously logged, it is impossible to extract the cache as the boulder has rolled ontop of the cache. Great cache all the same, the first waypoint is still very much worth the visit. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Will post pictures when we return home.

Found at 10.55am GAFF1. It is always nice to approach your calculated GZ and realise that you must have got it right! We had a great chat with the attendant at the centre and he was surprised that we had already explored so much of the town - thanks Geocaching (and Team Casho!)

Signed Log. This was our ( Geowife and GazMag) assault on some of the caches around Nundle.

This is a very well thought out cache by Team Casho.

The people at the Information Center in the town of Nundle could not be more helpful (Roger the doger)

We (Geowife and I) dutifully answered each question and low and behold the destination coordinates were in hand.

After getting our bearings we were off to find the cache and find it we did.

A large cache full of all sorts of goodies......

Tks ....... Team Casho ......... GazMag

Went to the very interesting Information Centre and had help from the very nice lady that works there. As we only had notes & no pictures we went to the Agate cabinet only to find the Zebra Agate was not from the countries listed on your options, so we were a bit confused but managed to get to GZ anyway, only to find two farmers mending the broken fence from the floods, so couldnt have as good a look as would have liked & di not find cache. So will put this one aside for another day. Now home & looking at photos, realise we werent looking at the same Zebra Agate as you. Never mind.

After setting up camp in the Caravan Park in Nungle I fired up the GPS and there is a cache very close by. Down to the Information Desk to check out all the displays of the best collection of rocks that I have ever seen.

I must say that the staff were very interested in what I was looking for and was only too happy to give me a hand in gathering the required info to enable me to find this very well thought out cache.

If you are in this area this is a must do cache and the final hide is in a most appropriate location. The cache is an ammo can crammed full of swaps plus the log book. Loved it. NI-NO and thanks for the effort in setting this one up as I know how much work is necessary to archive a cache as good as this one.

It would help a lot if you could take a color photograph of the cache notes and enter your final co-ords very carefully. I mucked up on the first try.

Well, what do you know - another *FTF* for the Smelly's.
This cache, actually ALL the caches in the area by Team Casho are a certain MUST to do. We ventured into this one after finishing up at the Trout Farm and we met some of the most amazing people. Everyone should take the time to do this cache, as you get to meet people like Cynthia - she is very well informed of the area and actually lives not far from the Trout Farm. She is more than willing to help out with this one and is very interested in the addiction of geocaching.
Thanks Team Casho.
