Today we decided to ride a bit of the Wilderness track and grab some survivor caches along the way and any other caches on the way. This was our turnaround spot. A nice easy find. TFTC
Time to break out the bikes and do some of the local trail. Some interesting spots, and enjoyed the new bridge. TFTC
I liked this diversion away from the new bike path. I hope it still gets lots of finds. TFTC.
Enjoying our ride along the trail. Its really nice to commemorate these exploits with geocaches. Cache is all good. TFTC
Detoured to grab this one. Not sure if this monument will get many visitors now with the new road alignment except for geocachers.
Doing part of the Greymouth cycle way with the aim of collecting the Survivor series. Visiting from Dunedin. Tftc

Thanks for bringing us here. I would not have left the wilderness trail without it. Nice quick find. TFTC
A quick find on our way back to Christchurch and I love caches near plaques
Starting the return journey to Christchurch; good to be able to find this cache - I had driven past, previously, missing the turn off.
Getting to the end of a caching expedition with lytteltonwitch; it's been fun.

BaldEd and I decided to walk to the remaining solved Survivor series caches in the drizzle. So it was on with the wet weather gear and off we did trot. There might have been the odd trad that got in the way as well.
Another one of those pesky trads.
Cheers for the cache.

Last time I was down here there were too many road works to stop for this one, the completed road looks good. Nice easy find. Thanks Annie & PB

* 20 years since New Zealand had the very first geocache hidden outside of USA.
* And it's 2020 - all the 20s!
Talk to your geo-friends and start planning to be part of [this event](http://nzmega.com) - you won't want to miss it!

Only local I encounteted was a slimy old slug. Can't stand those bugs. Good to read the plaque to Whitcombe. Tftc

Down to Christchurch for another weekend trip with boneybruce to pick up TMGT caches, and today's mission is to clear out the TMGT caches on the west coast, and pick up a few other interesting caches along the way. Nice quick find in this historical spot. TFTC!!!

(# 5306). Today is day 2 of my West Coast trip. Weather wise the day wasn't to bad apart from an absolute deluge around lunchtime. No caching at the time as it was far to wet. Today was a trip to Hokitika then the gorge. A quick find. Everything in order. TFTC
thankyou for your cache, we found with the help from 2+4 as they are teaching us how cache.
Hello from Perth WA
We found this while on our South Island adventure with Olive8.

I travelled aroud so many times and always forgot to pull over here. However I managed to have a lunch time over here today so the cache was finally found.. TFTC
Stopped off here after deciding the bridge area was much to busy to stop and search at. No problems here and cache soon located, signed, and returned as found.

The last part of the day involved mopping up a few solved puzzles and heading to Hokitika via Kumara (my least fave vegetable!)
Day 2 of the trip and with daylight saving starting/ending yesterday I found myself up nice and early and in McDs having breakfast at around 0615. The bike had been loaded into the car for the cycle along the beach to grab the Survivor series remainder (though one DNF would prevent a clean sweep!). It took around 1 hour 40 minutes from #3 (DNF last time) to the end of the line #33, and only 30 minutes cycling on the way back, quite a few caches found on this trip and nearly all were puzzles too. After that was done it was drop the bike in the apartment and head along from Cobden to Point Elizabeth all the way to Rapahoe beach end, then all the way back to the car and finally off to Hokitika, along the back roads, before the rain came down too heavily. As it was the rain got heavier and heavier and caching was stopped for the evening at around 1800, stuck on just over 90 finds. A great days caching and apologies in advance for the cut n paste logs, will comment specifically where I remember any variation.
Easter weekend 2018 is here and I have a cunning plan. Well, a caching plan, but what's the difference? With mrs and daughter working over the weekend and me with a few days off work there was a chance to convert some of my solved puzzles over on the West Coast into smiley faces. And add to my West Coast caching total. And do the Point Elizabeth walk, and several other appealing strolls. And some other stuff and all the way along gaining extra points for the planetary Challenge thingy to gain some electronic 2D Geo-souvenirs. And so, setting off around 0730 on Easter Sunday with the trusty mountain bike aboard (for the Greymouth beach-side track) I clocked up just under 1000 kms by road, a few extra on 2 wheels and several more on 2 feet, quite the trip. The threatened rain only arrived on the second afternoon in Hokitika (by which time I'd done my walks for the day) and the drive back from Greymouth via Westport was in blazing Autumn sunshine - Beautiful. Fantastic scenery all around and a large number of caches from b&w and gracie7&mum helped the total to just over 180 finds.
An awesome few days which my family wouldn't have enjoyed, but conversely actually would have, for the most part. An FTF in Reefton on the way through on Day 1 was another bonus, and monkey off the back for the monthly streak. A few DNFs which is to be expected with that many looked for, but a lot of good sights and experiences too. Thanks to all the COs for their placements.

After a day along the beach further north with long walks and a lot of inhaling the fresh salty air as well as visiting the pancake rocks, mmmmike and me started driving south to get to the glacier area. We stopped from time to time to stretch the legs or to have a look at interesting sites. Not too easy to figure out the nice and still existing boxes. Nearly turned out to be the perfect job for the co-driver, kept me busy. We ended with a nice collection of caches.
This one was good to find and everything is ok.
Thanks for caring for this cache!

On my way to Westport to meet up with daywalk family who are renting a holiday house. Quick find.
Today's mission was a drive from Christchurch to Greymouth on my way home to Nelson. Trying to find 'a few' caches along the way. It's been ages since I travelled this route so there were actually heaps of caches to find and at the end of the day my tally was 81. Biggest cache day for me for a while. Interesting and tragic history. Nearly missed this one because of the road works but managed to get across and pull over. Found cache safe and sound. TFTC, Biggles.
Final day of the West Coast Wilderness Trail, set off in the drizzle so only stopping for quick finds. TFTC
Day 3 Greymouth - Hokitiki
Day 3 Greymouth -Hokitika
After completing the card series, we made our way following a caching trail into town.
I wanted to do the Flintstones since I had done all the puzzles before leaving Australia.
We found Greymouth a great town to drivw around, a good selection of hides & containers found.
Thanks for placing this cache Annie & PB

Quick easy find and learnt a bit of local history. Helped out some tourists who didn't know where the wilderness trail went next. Tftc
Hm, are Kiwis talented in building monuments? Or is it a local thing? Greetings from Bavaria, Germany
Travelling around the South Island.
Looking at our wonderful home land.
Weather has been inclement but this has not dampened our enthusiasm.
1st to sign new log.

Checked Cache today, it appears that someone has replaced it. Thanks.
NOTE/WARNING: The top wire of the fence IS live, I know, I unwittingly tested it LOL.

We stopped to check on this one while on a maintenance run to Hokitika. We replaced the missing cache in the same place with a 50ml pill container. Happy Caching
Enjoyed the history but didn't find the cache. Had it stored for almost a year and couldn't get reception to refresh to see if has been found recently as working on bike route in the area.
Final one of 25 caches located today on trip from Christchurch to Greymouth via Arthurs Pass. Light/medium rain most of day but still enjoyed the scenery and a leisurely drive. Didn't see the sun all day until I hit the Coast about 7pm. #1242. TFTC.
Thanks for the interesting history lesson, this was a nice quick find but the cache is wet inside. No view today due to the cloud cover. TFTC
Found the cache in the nearby paddock so replaced where we think it should have been. Interesting history. TFTC
Cache was in the paddock. A little wet. Thanks for the break on the drive north
Found on Team Walkers whirlwind trip to the West Coast!
Heading South to Hoki to let the little ones have a nap. A quick find here but a fascinating bit of history. Thanks for stopping us here. TFTC.

Thanks for placing this cache and for recounting the tale regarding this memorial, it's a sad story of an early pioneer from New Zealands past and it's nice to know people care enough to remember the pioneers who added to the history of this beautiful country, this was a nice easy find and all is well with the cache, sl and raf, tftc. Greetings from Bury in Lancashire, England.

Its Easter & have teamed up with The Seagnoid & Zara, for a magical mystery tour. Bug out Thursday lunchtime picking up the Seagnoid on the way to exploring the amazing West Coast. Loved the history write up here. My find. Cheers
On a big Easter caching mission with ZaraBus and TaybeeDragon. Lots of crawling through mines, climbing hills, walking through bush. And yet we only covered a tiny bit of the West Coast, between Greymouth and Hokitika.
Rather a good write up on the cache description, well done. Contents wet but the log was okay.

We are driving from Greymouth to Arthurs pass today and have found a lot of caches so please excuse the cut and paste logs, I normally prefer not to use them. After more than a month of experiencing the laid back NZ lifestyle we are finding much of the traffic on this road today to be in a huge rush which has made some of our stops a bit difficult, but we survived!
Very interesting, thanks
