Logs
Didn't find this one today, could well be my fault. I had to walk quite a while to get to the site, as the road leading up to it had washed away and I wasn't sure that my car would make it! Also, there's no chance of mobile signal in the area, so make sure that you screenshot the location and details (unlike me!). Had a poke around some of the sites I thought would be good hiding places, but no luck. Thank you for introducing me to this wonderful area and the work of Australia's oldest inhabitants.
Doin the circuit today.
lotsa goats and sheep at the lil waterhole nearby.
scratched me name on the log and not on the rocks.
Thanks Matmob for bringing us here.

Some days we just get in the geobeast and see where we end up!
So here we were. At your cache! An impressively guarded set of writing on the wall.
A nice creek setting.
So much history here from a couple of cultures!
Well worth the drive.
Much gratitude to matmob for placing and maintaining this one
"A cache a day keeps the doctor away" - every find brings a big smile to our map
Found with Purrfect Di and Jack on a drive up thataway!!!
----------------------------------------------------
- - search at a good social distance whenever you can - -
Things are slowly getting back to whatever normal is - take it carefully!
Catching covid or gastro or anything really would mess up your streaks!
Keep away from all the nasty bugs ( except nice travel bugs of course )
[|)] - 2, 4, 6, 8,,, let's all go and vaccinate!
[|)] - keep away from crowds as much as you can, they spread those nasty bugs! [:o)]
[|)] - go out and find or place some new caches in our safe country areas away from bugs!!
Life's good. Enjoy ! ! !

8644 Located by baby&Mrs gopher at 1125. What an interesting drive from Terowie along the well formed dirt roadway. Lots of road works being performed on the track. The cache is in good condition and well protected. SL Tnx matmob
In the area for the Heartland Rally so grabbed some caches while going around TFTC
Found It!
An interesting drive out to this one. There was over 100 kangaroos sitting around GZ just watching me. I don't think I've ever seen so many kangaroos in one spot before! There was also a few goats looking a bit lost amongst the kangaroos...

What an amazing spot. We went past the fenced area and found the petroglyphs higher up the bank, along with all the grooves made from sharpening stone axes. Will have to do a bit more reading on this special place. TNSL TFTC.
Owl, Eagle and Raven set off on an adventure, driving around the Dare Hill scenic route (as recommended by the Burra Tourist Bureau). There was some great scenery and they were at times joined by the Toyota 4WD club. Owl managed to persuade her muggle family to stop for lots of caches, so she arrived back at their digs tired but happy. This stop wasn't listed in the tourist brochure, so it was another one of those places that would not have been found without caching. That's got to be worth a favourite point!
TFTC. Six years since last coming to this beautiful place. Delighted to have the chance to help new geocachers experience the wonderment and excitement of finding caches and exploring their wonderful country. Even my dear Mum and Dad joined us on this fantastic day out and enjoyed the Dare Circuit. A day to remember.
Grabbed this one during a wander around the area on a long weekend. I'd been past here a few times and wasn't aware the paintings were there! TFTC!
Couldn't find it, found the area and some disturbed rocks which looked likely but cache not located.
I am not sure what we were looking at. Seems more quarry marks and an indomitable weed that anything else behind the fence. Maybe I had expected more.
Found it before Orienteering the Middle Distance Championships
Great cache - would never have found the place without the GPS Co-ords!!

Hooray for the surprise cache of the day !! [^]
Why a surprise …. well, I was headed for one of my favourite little spots on the map at Pandappa and decided to take a shortcut
Rather than turning off the highway at Terowie, I turned of at Whyte-Yarcowie and ended up following the rather ambitiously named Tourist Drive 21
After a day of rain the tourista driva was not a 2WD event [^]
Somehow I think the Tourist Drive 21 was forgotten about 30 years ago, if the faded signs are anything to go by
I had hoped one of the 'other' roads on my GPS map connected through to Pandappa, but I ended up miles out of me way at the bustling metropolis of Ketchowla.
From there it was a nice easy bounce along the track to find this cache that had unexpectedly popped up
What a great little spot after all the rain yesterday.
The creek was flowing !! [:o]
And after a short stroll I found the artworks.
Fantastic place, but a pity they have to build steel cages around these places
(And the sign seems to have gone missing !!)
Yes !! Even out here
A short rock hop up the hill and I found the cache
And following the road, I finally made it to where I was originally headed

We were travelling on the Goyder Regional Northern Tourist driving trail and what a brilliant drive it turned out to be - following on from Dares Hill we ended up out here and passed through some great country and were amazed at the old ruins. What was more amazing was the floodway washouts not much before this site. huge massive pieces of concrete just tossed around like paper. It makes you realise how strong the floods can be. We drove this day from Caroona Conservation Park using the back roads until we reached the Barrier Highway at Terowie and did not see a single car until we were almost to the highway.
The cache is still in good condition and an easy find. TFTC.

after reading the logs i also went in the same way as nibs and got slightly confused, but figured id plead insanity, but no need for that. very interesting spot, the art has faded but i guess that's what happens when you sit in the elements for thousands of years. TNLNSL thanks
This was our adventure cache of the day .
We approached along the road from the south, but almost felt like we were trespassing as we looked at the signs, crossing the cattle grid into Collinsville [xx(].
However, traveling further, there are constant reminders that you are on 'Tourist Drive 21,' so kept on going [8)].
There have been some massive flood waters through here and we had 3 interesting creek crossings to navigate in the family sedan, 2 where we had to get out and do some roadworks , the other one was a diversion down a steep sandy descent which we would not have been able to return up . However, if you were in a 'soft roader AWD,' you would have no problem.
The settlement Nibs mentioned was interesting to view as we drove past, which would have been great to have some history on [?].
This is a very isolated place and we didn't pass another vehicle until we were nearly out at Pandappa .
Eventually made it to GZ, dodging the electric fence (not sure if active), the art being a little disappointing to look at through the heavy and intrusive barrier .
Found the cache after a short look around the rocks.
Took pathtag. Left hippo. SL. (I think we got Tin non-podium as well) !
Thanks for a very interesting drive Matmob.

So much to look at, so little time. GPS wasn't set up right, non-geo friends were on the move, so I will have to wait till next trip to the area. Just love the topography of the area. Hopefully will get the chance to look for other caches in the area.
This was a very scenic drive in to GZ and a nice quick find once there.
Cheers & thanks for the tour.
Cheers & thanks for the tour.
The drive in was a most interesting one. I obviously came in via the ‘forbidden’ route. On the way I passed a sign proclaiming the usual prohibitions: No camping, shooting, etc. But the last on the list was downright odd. It said: “No looking in buildings” WTF??? .
Anyway, arriving in the vicinity of the cache I came across a whole bunch of buildings; a veritable little community that had long since moved on (but they appear to still have electricity??). And whilst I didn’t look in , I did take a heap of photos [^].
The rock ‘carvings’ were a bit of an anti-climax and noted the 1923-grafitti on them. Went and found the cache soon after to claim another Silver, but made no swaps.
I still think the nearby settlement was far more interesting and would love to know the stories surrounding them. Thanks for showing me this whole area Matmob. Great stuff .

Mr O had to stop at the entry sign and wonder if it applied to people passing through. It certainly gives that vibe, but after driving for a little while it was apparent that this is indeed the tourist drive! Through a gate, then several grids (which he slowed down for - in-joke from last weekend) then yet more driving...before coming to what appears to be a ghost town. Very eerie close to sunset! Arrived at GZ and made the find quickly, and yet again felt the joy of being FTF It was dead still and you could hear a pin drop out here. Kinda spooky! TFTC.
