I really liked the location of this cache! The terrain was also quite a challenge but I liked it.Also liked the little man inside, snuck a cheeky few dollars in there because there was nothing inside.Cute photo of the view of the top of the hill. TFTC!
Looking at the map I recognised the trails having walked a friends dog there last year, so knew I was def in the wrong footwear but I was too close not to try and came down from the main cemetery. Track not too bad compared to other council maintained ones in the area at the mo but certainly a little slippery.

A solo excursion for Mr Coblet.
I had the day off work and headed out here early to do a bit of geocaching.
This was my last find of the morning and I almost decided against it after reading the description because the conditions today were not the best with muddy ground after a lot of recent rain. It was also beginning to rain again so what was already a slippery trail was likely to become worse.
After looking at the map and considering a few options I thought I would give it a go but decided against beginning at the posted parking coordinates and tried an alternative entry from above.
It was very soggy and I stepped carefully as I approached the "trail" but when I saw the state of it I realised that using it was probably not the best option and opted for a semi bush bash instead.
This worked very well and apart from a few slightly tricky bits I managed to get to GZ with reasonable ease.
The cache was quite exposed and not exactly where it should have been but was still safe and in good condition.
After signing the log I hid it where it seemed it should have been based on the hint and concealed it with a bit of natural camo.
The rain had thankfully still not started and after having a bit of a look around the area I headed back up the hill, this time on a different track that I noticed off to the side.
The return journey was completed without incident although I made sure I was very careful with each step.
Thanks sp8sm8 for this adventurous cache in a place where I hadn't expected terrain like this. I wonder if it will ever be developed into anything.
I really enjoyed looking for it today and seeing a part of the cemetery grounds that many people probably don't see.
A favourite point for the adventure.

Having looked at the Terrain rating prior to heading out, I was expecting the worst. I was pleasantly surprised that there wasn't too much slipping and sliding down the trail, but I'd imagine that would be vastly different in winter. Cache was easily found. Interesting little area, that looks like a mountainbike trail, but off the side of a cemetery? Nga mihi, TFTC
Visiting my Aunty who was buried nearby a few months ago. Muddy track down to GZ.

I’ve been wanting to check this cache out for awhile, today I wandered down to it from the cemetery, what a muddy trail!
Nice and peaceful area.
Cache all good, thanks for placing here!

A plan was hatched to try and find as many different combinations on the D/T grid that we could in one day. A route was planned and planned again a number of times. It has been months in the planning but today it was coming to fruition.
I left Hamilton at 4.45am and met up with ABCDF4 and eyespyben in Huntly before arriving at our first cache at 7am. It was a long and tiring day with the last cache found as darkness set in. And after a celebratory dinner at McDonalds I got home at 11.00pm.
My calculations is that we achieved 47 with only 2 DNFs. Thank you to all the cache owners.
Came from the top. Coords were spot on and cache quickly signed.

We had talked about this personal challenge, D/T Grid for sometime, so decided to attack on long weekend ( Waitangi),EyeSpy first up at 4.30am,so time to rise as KGD will be here soon and left Huntly for our first cache in Ak at 7am. Lota of laughs, plenty of U turns, tree climbing, muddy gumboots, very steep climbs and plenty of Kms travelled. Our total over the period was 47 different D/T ratings and only 2 dnfs. Thanks to all the Cos for a great day in the Supa City and KGD for his organisation skills.

Found it. Very slippery up various slopes - made the mistake of going after a rain and briefly got stuck! Like the post says, caution to wear very appropriate footwear - I thought I’d be a smart-ass and just tie my shoes tight. Almost didn’t work. Beautiful view from the top. Had mild panic thinking I’d have to go all the way back down to get out (hence my note!) but found the quick way to the cemetery and had a nice stroll.
Looking on Google maps there appears to be a bit of a track down from the top end from near where I was parked so headed down that way. Nice easy find once at GZ, TFTC
Dancing Queen 25252 and myself are on a 4-weeks-geocaching-tour in New Zealand with additional 4 stopovers as here. Many thanks for the cache and best regards from two German geocachers.
Me and my friends were exploring the tracks like we usually do and then my friend found something and he decided to look at it, at first we didn’t know what we found so we didn’t touch it then we opened it and I realised it was a notepad with writing and now I’m here. This is a awesome game and me and my friends are going to find more.
I decided to find two very old caches that are enar to each other: "Sunhill" and "In Range and View".
After finding "Sunhill" I drove into the cemetery and parked near the toilets. Decided against putting my gumboots on, and came to regret it. The grass and path are very boggy! I had my umbrella with me and was able to use that to balance myself as I carefully stepped along the muddy track.
The co-ordinates and hint were spot on. Great view from here! Cache was a little exposed but in great condition after all this time. Tucked it into its hidey hole a little more when I returned it. Returned back the way I came. TFTC

Out and about for a few hours of cache detection today. Certainly some good weather for it. I parked up at the suggested spot and had no issue finding the access point. Then it was simply a case of choosing between forks all the way to GZ. I was able to get the heart pumping scrambling up these steep slopes. Glad it was approaching something resembling dry today. No problem with the find as the coordinates were bang on and the cache partially exposed. Recovered a little better on return. Took in the view for a moment, before jogging (carefully) back out. Cheers for the mini adventure in an urban setting and for the cache placement!

I was eyeing this cache while living in Auckland all the time as it was one of the closest unfound caches to home coords. But never got around to go and get it as I thought it will be a jungle commando. I guess I was acting too **warily**. Nothing hard here at all, just a little unmarked track on a slope. Cycled down and then pushed my bike back up. Didn't even go to Range&View at all!
Thanks for the cache!

Finished work earlier than I expected, so wanted to grab a different cache. Decided to try this. It was really muddy and slippery, but managed to reach GZ without falling down. I took the route suggested by urbangypsynz and it was perfect till I reached a point where the tracks split into 3 or 4. Tried different ones, and second time lucky. Found the hint object quickly and soon the cache too. Cache is all good, neat dry here. tftc sp8sm8.
Definitely easier to access from the top. The clay was a little wet in places after the recent rain but thankfully didn't prove to be a problem, then it was a matter of negotiating the guardian gorse to get to the cache to sign the log book. Great views on the walk here too.
Have this one in range for a while, but always too hot or too wet, decided it can not be too bad today, there has not been too much rain, I would not have liked to do it any wetter. Initially went to the parking co ordinates and did an un-necessary walk up the private road, not being able to see any access I returned to the car and went to Sunhill Rd entrance, this was an easy access despite the wet clay. Gorse guarding the cache. Geodog enjoyed a good run in this undeveloped area.
I could not find access at the given parking co ordinates, so if you have the same problem, drive to the end of Sunhill Rd, walk down the roadway in the cemetery until you reach the toilets on your right, the track goes down behind them.
Up from Taranaki for the long weekend visiting KrystalKath's mother, which would mean no or little geocaching. We compromised by letting me spend yesterday on Rangitoto.
Today we spent the morning at Auckland Museum, then out to the adjacent cemetery to visit a family member. On the way out I saw this geocache was close, and took the opportunity to nab it.
I envisage the gorse may be a problem in the near future. TFTC

Wow! What a view! I didn't even know this place existed, but I am glad I came here. Nice find on a scorching Auckland summer's day. TFTC
Nice view, but very muddy! Luckily i had shoes whilst poor Momac slipped around in flipflops.
We found: a nice little travel bug too!

TFTC. Do not recomend wearing dlip flops haha or going after rain. Was a very besutiful veiw
Dropping by for a visit with Nebulenz. Conditions are much better now than in the winter, that's for sure!
Picked this one up pretty quickly. Hughie_ emphasised on the way down he'd give no hints or clues. I was on my own!
Dropped off a little buddy here

Nice views from these trails and of course I walked around a lot of them to get to this point. Got here tho and soon had the cache in hand. Was definitely a faster walk out. TFTC
After locating the rabbit trail that lead to the main trail system I was on my way until a fork in the road. Of course I wound up taking the long route from there. I did find a gorse free way into GZ as well. Great views from there. TFTC
Doing this at night isnt the best idea i have had, but still did it anyway
Came down from the top though the cemetery, got covered in mud from the rain, but made it to the clearing to see a nice view looking out over the houses.
After taking a few photos I wondered down the path to the GPS location of the cache, and jumped into the bushes to start hunting.
After realizing that A) there was alot of hiding places, B) My torch was dying (forgot to charge it up) and C) The rain was going to be getting worse,
I decided to call it a night and come back in the day, but as I was walking back onto the path I noticed something that matched the clue.
A quick hunt around and There it Was!!
Signed the log, and returned it where it was found
Loved the outing, must come back with a good camera on a good day to take some nice night photos.

It started drizzling when I was making my way to the waypoint, luckily I was prepared with a jacket, umbrella and sturdy boots. The tracks were very wet and muddy - gumboots definitely recommended.
Took some pictures after locating the cache. Some great views! TFTC

Been looking forward to this one I used to ride my bike down these tracks when I was growing up its was heaps of fun, still looks good. Tftc
This cache has been on my find list for awhile, I had planned a visit in the summer rather than the slippery paths of winter. Best laid plans, and thinking I had plenty of time to visit, I now find myself sliding my way down a clay path towards the GZ. I wish I could write about the amazing views, but all my efforts where to stay standing and stick to the firmer ground. Today I am with Little rebel who is loving this adventure!
Lots of changes I am sure since the cache was placed in 2009, they even have a flash loo near where we parked. A great caching adventure, thanks for the hide, luckily found very quickly

I had lost all sense of direction walking from 'sunhill' cache through a lovely bush walk thinking I was heading to a different cache. We soon realised we were quickly heading to this one instead. A very pleasant walk indeed with only a final few slippery meters. Geodogs loved it as much as we did. tftc
It was a bit of a mudslide here today, after all the recent rain, but we managed to make it down and back without losing our footing...or getting pricked by the gorse at GZ. Tftc:-)
In the area today doing abit of caching and this one popped up on the radar. Was very glad of some good shoes on as the tracks i followed to GZ were slippery as!! A nice quick find of the cache once at GZ. Signed log and carefully navigated my way back to the car avoiding slipping over and getting wet shoes. Really enjoyed this one, TFTC!
Apologies for the very late and cut and paste log - I have been AWOL for a long while.
Found as part of the crazy crew that were up from Hamilton for the day with the specific objective of finding as many D/T combinations as possible.
Had a huge amount of fun and appreciated the huge effort put in by the cache owners in placing and maintaining their caches.
Many thanks

Out on a caching raid north of the Bombay hills with Cats&Dragons, HKCB, iammrwalker, Kiwi69, Zorgon and 11hpg11 on a 40 D/T mission for the day.
C&D had done the legwork finding the correct entry point so it made it a quick find for the team on the day

I found this cache as a member of a group of the Hamilton Geocaching Overachievers Club. We signed the logs using an anachronism made up from our Geocaching handles MCHIKZ1 (McClutchan Clan, Cats&Dragons, HKCB, iammrwalker, Kiwi69, Zorgon and 11hpg11) to save on log space and time. We were on another mad mission devised by C&D to find 40 different DT ratings in one day. We left Hamilton at 5:30am and returned at 9:30pm tired, scared but most importantly successful.
We ignored the parking waypoint and found an easier access point closer to GZ. I was amazed by the effort people have made to celebrate their loved ones at the Cemetery on top of the hill. Cache was found without to many dramas. Thanks for bringing us to this interesting location I otherwise would not have visited.

Well another case of the Hamilton Cacher Crew mentioning a concept at a local event, others getting onboard, planning taking place and the mission being carried out.
The Mission this time was to collect as many different D/T combinations (including 5 different cache types) in a single day.
The schemers along for this mission were, Kiwis69, HKCB, 11HPG11, Zorgon, McCutchen Caching Clan, iammrwalker & Cats&Dragons. After a few weeks planning then replanning as likely caches were archived or disabled then redoing the plan finally we were at D-Day.
This was the 39th of 54 caches for the day (41 Different D/T Combinations). Had noted this puzzle being here numerous times but never had the time to stop. After having read the logs we determined that it was going to be easier to head in from the top rather than the parking coordinates from below. It was, adn a cache in great condition was located.
thanks for the placement

On yet another memorable and fun-filled day-long caching mission around Auckland with McCutchanClan, Cats&Dragons, HKCB, IamMrWalker, Zorgon and 11hpg11, aiming to find as many different D/T combinations as possible before caching exhaustion takes over. Great company, a whole heap of fun and, for once, the bonus of surprisingly little blood spilled along the way!
Loved this find ... after more than a few urban finds, it was great to get out & stretch the legs. Thankfully, our driver opted for a convenient access point and it was a pleasant walk to GZ, rather than the painful alternative. A super-quick grab in the expected place, it didn't take long to find the cache, sign & replace. Signed the log as MCHIKZ1 to save log-book space, thanks for a cool placement, TFTC

A small mission a long time in the making. Caching in Auckland to try and get as many different D/T combos as we could in a day. We signed the logs as MCHIKZ1 to save room, an acronym for our team consisting of: McCutchan Cache Clan, Cats&Dragons, HKCB, Iammrwalker, Kiwis69, Zorgon and myself. An early start, a lot of kms traveled and a whole lot of laughs in-between. I think we all had a great time seeing a variety of different cache types and styles
Thanks to the previous research done by Cats&dragons we parked at the best spot which meant not too much gorse for us thankfully! A great little hidden spot with some great views to boot. Thanks for showing us

Out in Auckland today with the main goal of finding as many different D/T combos as possible. This trip has been a few weeks in the making with a lot of planning, and puzzle solving going into it. Together with McCutchan Cache Clan, Cats&Dragons, myself (HKCB), Iammrwalker, Kiwis69, Zorgon and 11HPG11, we managed to get quite a few, 41 to be exact! An early start was needed and around 15 hours later we made it back home, mission accomplished. Although some of us did want to continue on, most of us needed to get back to the muggles in our lives before we got into serious trouble. We signed the logs as MC HIKZ1 to save room, an acronym for our team.
C&D had done some research on this find so he knew a easier access route so to avoid a lot of the gorse. Only a few spikes at GZ, a quick find.

This one was a funny one. It's funny because I was happy that this one needed more physical ability than the ones I've found before but the amount of time I was prickled by nearby bushes was countless. Tip: wear long clothing when searching. Shorts and T-shirt wasn't the greatest idea.
As per the last couple of logs, we entered from Sunhill Rd and also had an easy and almost gorse free walk to GZ. TFTC.
In light of the description and terrain rating, I parked just down from Sunhill at a back entrance. I had an easy walk down a nice path to GZ. I still found a couple of gorse (of course, of course), but then got to the cache safely. XNSL. TFTC.
The geo map on the iPhone showed the tracks so we walked from "Sunhill". No mud today but can tell it could be fierce. We were rewarded by both a cache and a nearby sun orchid in full bloom. NINO TFTC
We were staying down the road so walked up, and missed the parking spot. This meant we entered the scrub in the wrong place and there are NO tracks if you go in at the top of the road. After a bit of a bush bash we found the track and soon after the cache. Needless to say we did not retrace our steps but followed the track back out. Last cache for the day, back to Wellington tomorrow. TFTC.
We found this cache on a 2 week trip around Northland, visiting such locations as Opononi, Kaitaia, Cape Reinga, Russell, among many other places. We took the long route up, and the short route down. Very painful. TFTC
I approached this one from cemetery end. Wasn't very muddy but I can imagine this track can be muddy as in the middle of winter. TFTC
Parked at the end of the 'public' road and wandered off in search of the track or trail that might lead to the cache. Lucky for me I chose the right tracks and made it to the cache without mishap. Quite dry at the moment so not too slippery. Cache was quickly found at GZ. TFTC, Biggles.
This area brings back happy memories! My mate used to have a small 4WD Suzuki with a petrol engine, he ripped that out and swapped it with a 1.5 liter diesel engine which gave him heaps or torque and we used to use these tracks big time in his vehicle especially the one I walked down to get this cache! Thanks for bringing me here - same place, different purpose!
I wouldnt recommend to do this one in pouring rain. You might slide right past it at great speed on your backside. It was nice and dry for us so we could stand and admire the view of Glen Eden.
Are you sure terrain is a 3.5? It isn't that far from parking but crazy rough! I'm so glad it hadn't rained in a while! Tethered my phone and found fairly quickly. Good one!
Found this one while out walking. Revisted and dropped off TB. TFTC.

i walked in the cemetary with dad it was scary and lots of spikey trees and mud
Out with the kids during school holidays. Nice walk through the mud and gorse kids had a ball.
on the way home jobs in town(Mr)figured i'd let the caches do the talking and show me where my next morning walk was going to be. Passing saw this one sitting in an area i used to do plenty of walking so thought id give it a crack, hoping my trainers would be ok - knowing how ... interesting it can get there.. bit slippery but got to GZ in no time. Rather then doubling back headed on up the hill to hit another familiar spot before finding a way to loop back in the surrounding streets ..( always love finding the short cuts that often exist un mapped at the end of non script no exit streets...
Loved this one was alot of fun and the dog had ball. I got to this one from the top of the cemetary (rather than the suggested parking spot) as I collected another cache within the cemetary prior to this one. Bank was very steep but a good fun. Definately a cache for dry weather as the track will be very slippery after rain fall. One of my favourites so far!
Great walk, very tranquil but sturdy or waterproof footwear essential. A walking stick would be of benefit to.
So glad I was in gumboots for this one ! And what about the gorse ! I survived unscathed !
Found orginally as part of phasevisitor team, now created own account, re-logging as yorkshirekiwi83.
After an appointment in Henderson this afternoon we decided to grab a couple of caches in the area. Thought this might be an easy walk in the park but then noticed the terrain rating! The tracks weren't too bad - the clay is a bit sticky, but not too slippery yet, can see how slippery it would get after the rain though! Soon found our way to GZ, slightly nervously as we thought we could hear trail-bikes in the area, but none were seen. A quick find, thanks for the cache!

Nice find in the night with tempestjb and cathew nut. Probably could have appreciated the views better in the daylight though! TFTC
My first geocache. I was beginning to give up hope that I could find any. Nice dry trails.
