Arrived from Whyalla with iluvtrekking and after setting up in the caravan park we headed out to cache. Container has disintegrated. Left smaller container and new log sheet under the upturned bucket.
Found with ricklink as part of our 2022 South Australian Adventure.
Replaced the broken container, all good now, TFTC.

Thanks Bowz2
The kids and I had a great adventure finding this one. Probably shouldn't have walked with a pram!
This, geocache friends, is a genuine Regular-sized geocache. It's perfect for placing those larger items of swag, as I added to this cache, or if you want to drop an unorthodoxly shaped TB into a cache that will accommodate it, then look for REAL Regular caches like this one. TFTC. It's in good condition. Added some swag. SL.
Day 1 of our Eyre Peninsula caravan odyssey with the geo-pup.
In Stirling North for the night, some afternoon caching delight. Great drive to the cache, well done finding it, fave from us.

like the last finder said the container is stuffed. contents soaked and no lid. replaced the container with a yogurt conatiner and rehid at listed co ords. From Hawker to here on the back roads, my 4x4 and tralier are both covered in mud now.
Took Mogni for a trip to the Flinders Rangers for the long weekend with extra day either side. The target for the trip was to clear some of the " used to be a church " micro series on the way up and on the back as well, complete a couple of station tracks plus hike to Blinman Pools. We where not expecting a couple of 34 degree days then a 30 km wind dust storm followed by rain over night and then the wilpenda pound walls covered in fog for the next 1/2 a day. It did change our plans a little and the order we did things. All containers we found damaged, broken, cracked were replaced and were possible ( if not soaked ) original log books were kept. Any log books found full were replaced or if room had extra scrolls added in to the cache.

Beware of 8 legged friends! A tricky one and in disrepair. Definitely need its container replace as everything inside spider infested and disintegrating.
This weekend, I joined Laighside Legends on a trip up north, with the main plan to visit the Bendleby Ranges on Saturday, followed by a hike in the Southern Flinders Ranges at Rawnsley Bluff. We managed to escape the rain and poor weather in Adelaide, and we were only affected by minor drizzles and some cold winds on Sunday morning.
Today was a rather long day. We stayed in Hawker, and initially headed to Cradock to complete the series of *Used 2B a Church* micros located there, before backtracking, and driving to Rawnsley Park. We initially warmed up with a small 1.5 km return hike to Uloudra Range via Alison Saddle, and then made a drive and walk to Clems Corner. After that, it was the main hike of the day to Rawnsley Bluff and Wilpena Pound Lookout. With the additional detour to a geocache, that took us all up 5-1/4 hr to hike and around 14 km to hike! Everything was aching after that hike... knees, quads, and even the mental wall was reached. Finally, in the remaining 1.5 hr of daylight, we returned to Port Augusta via Neuroodla and Warrakimbo, before then driving back to Adelaide in the evening.
We were driving past this spot, and although Laighside Legends had previously found this cache, he enjoyed the location to revisit it with me. However, it sounds like this area has had a fair amount of change since he last visited, with the area being less train wreck, and more retired train! So that's a little annoying, but perhaps the wrecks have been cleaned up in preparation to fully retiring these trains and track. The cache container and logbook were in good shape, although the logbook was a little tattery in its hide location. Thanks Bowz2 for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

Meandered our way here from a fence post...
Pretty much a rubbish tip here, with no sign of a train wreck...
Really needs a new container as just a zip lock bag with logsheet in an old paint tin!

Gone caching at the end of the June Long Weekend with JEM, JacktheMonkey, and Sebastbat.
Only a tiny bit of the wreck remains.
Some signs suggested we might not go through here. We didn't see these 'til after

I’d looked at this one on the map before a couple of times, but had never made my way out here. Today I had some time, so I made the journey. A nice easy find at GZ of a cache in good condition.
Thanks for the cache Bowz2.

Found after negotiating the maze of dirt tracks to GZ. Spotted after a short search. It was a bit sad to see all the kangaroo skeletons under the trees. TFTC
Took me about 5 or so minutes to find this sneaky devil of a hide [:o] but find it I did... a nice hide indeed SL at 09:56 on Sat 10/3/18. Log within is dry [^] TFTC Bowz2
It was a very windy day, had a bit of trouble working out what side to be on. Once i got it right it was a easy find. Not what i expected.

#6459 - 09:35; Day 7 of the Alice Mega Road Trip with Sol de lune and albida33, so most logs were signed S.A.L. as a result. After a night in Port Augusta, today's plan was to cache in and around Port Augusta and Stirling North before heading south towards Whyalla for a couple of nights and produced 88 finds along with only 4 DNFs. Continued around the back track from our last find to this cache. Made the find okay and wondered about the fate of the huge amount of rolling stock sitting unused in the yard. TFTC Bowz2
Alice trip 2017. Day 5. With Sol de Lune and LuckL10n we started caching around Pt Augusta and Stirling before heading to Whyalla via a few of the short trails.

On the road to the Alice Springs Mega with LuckyL10n and Albida33. We headed through Burra and Port Pirie before arriving in Port Augusta for the trek up the highway. Collected a good number of caches and all were found with no issues and the logs were soon signed. (Some logs were signed as S.A.L. to save space.)
Thanks for the cache and fun in getting to it and finding it.

Hi there Bowz2.
We found your cache **"Train Wreck"** at 10:04:00 AM today. (This makes our find count 15918).
We cached between here and Mangrove Point today. On our trek we found a wide variety of container types. & ended up finding 7 caches with 0 DNF's.
Thanks for placing this cache here, without geocaching as our guide we would never have found so many interesting places on our travels.
**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found the cache around 2m from where the GPS said we should be looking.
**Cache Condition:** The container and log book are a micro, not a regular.
**Took:** Nothing.
**Left:** Nothing.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards
Ian & Penny.

Found some remains of the old Wreck as it has been recovered for scrap. Have put in a replacement log in the last piece of metal from the wreckage a one metre piece of iron with a hole in the end. Found on a day trip to Pt August. Thanks for the hide Bowz2.
We found it but the container needs replacing as it is disintegrated and now is home to a spider.
Loved the location

Train wreck appears to be gone, but found Geocache luckily. Disappointed to miss out on wreck.
Found during a visit to Port Augusta for the weekend. Interesting wrecks, never seen a concertina'd railcar before. Thanks for the cache Bowz!
Kids could not work out how t carriages got like this....telling them a giant did it was funny
Amazing scene. Had no idea this was so close to town. Interesting place to explore. Charli and Ev
A really interesting location with all the old carriages and the wreck. Some force on show for sure. Cache lid is damaged and really needs replacing as the log will not last. TFTC
After having to leave last night due to muggles, was good to get a find today. Amazing how much damage is done!
We did find this one after quite an adventure getting there but didn't have a pen so couldn't sign. Realised this when we were nearly there but hoped that seeing it was a regular sized container it would have one. What we did find on the way was a blue eclipse mint tin laying on the ground. As proof of our visit we put this in the cache container. If this is not acceptable please feel free to delete our log.
Now back to getting there. Our GPS took us round the back way through a fairly rugged track. Logic told us where we should be going but the halfway decent road has 'No Entry - Railway Personal only' signs at both ends. In the end we ignored them and parked as close as we could. Had to climb across some railway carriages to get to GZ. With the signs we didn't want to hang around any longer than necessary so we made the find and got out of there as quickly as possible.
Thanks, would have liked more time to look around here though.

After completing our 2nd trip around Australia, we are now heading towards Alice Springs.
Grabbed 3 close by caches, before leaving Port Augusta.
We don't often get a chance to get this close t this type of equipment, even though it is wrecked.
This cache was found quickly, and in good condition.
Many thanks for the hunt today, Bowz2.

Wow, you guys find some cool places for cache hides. Another graveyard but for old train bits and pieces this time. TFTC
Continuing with our train theme, we just had to stop here. What an amazing place
Thank you for bringing us here.

Day 2 of Flinder's Ranges visit with mogni and Aussie M&M.
Detoured into Port Augusta for a tripod for Mr. M and some more rechargeable batteries. Took the opportunity to grab a few caches.
What an amazing place. Found the cache whilst admiring the carnage. Thanks Bowz2.

Nice drive down track
Quite a few old wrecked coal wagons that have been in train derailments
Used to be a concrete sleeper factory in this area many years ago
Made sleepers for the railways when the changed from wood to concrete

I was headed up to Port Augusta for a kayak event but somehow afterwards I forgot to stop driving.
1,700kms later and after 83 smileys including 1 FTF were locus cache'd, 1 event attended and sadly 7 DNFs and a dead roo, I arrived back home with both the camera and the phone full of pictures of this amazing country in which we live .
What a mess! Concertina, any one[?] Considering how thick that metal is it had us querying just how safe cars are!
We were amazed at just what was laying aorund here and LL asked 'why are they all upside down[?]'
I am assuming it may be because the bogies have been removed but if any one knows, I'd love to know too!

It's places like this that remind me why I go geocaching! Certainly a bizarre and interesting little spot that I never knew about! I would give it a favourite point if I could...

Took a couple of tries to find our way in here (missed the turn-off first time [B)]) and were truely fascinated by the array of wreckage in this 'boneyard' [xx(].
Looks like they use some of the wreckage for repairs, so all is not lost, but it's amazing to see the damage done to such thick metal (particularly the truck the cache is placed on) .
TNLNSL.
Thanks for bringing us here Bowz2. Our last for the day as we headed home from our trek with the Goog's Group [^].

Ive never been out this way before and loved this area, what a wonderland for heavy metal lovers... What an awesome cache in an awesome area! There was evidence of people living out here and we worried a bit that the cache might be a very hard find but in the end it was in the very first fold I put my hand into...cachers luck!
such force to rip it like it has took awhile to find the cache that was the easy part.
dropped the lid and it just kept sliding now to retrieve it this needed more gear from the car and a lot of patience. Got it put it back together and put it back carefully

Spent the day touring the sights of Pt Augusta and found a cache or two on the way.
Being an ex railway employee this was a familiar sight, thankfully not all that often, but as they say in the classics. S*** does happen occasionally. TFTC.

Nice little drive along some back roads of Stirling North, easy find on this one today, amazing the damage that is done when things go wrong, there are a few along the nullabour track as well TFTC
This was our one big day of caching in the region.
We have visited many great spots, seaside locations, town high lights & back country roads.
This was one of the best caches we found. We loved the location & the information supplied.
Worth a favourite point
Thanks Bowz2

Fantastic location for a hide.On the track in we were abused by a local who had parked their vehicle in the middle of the track and did not appreciate my driving skills(I might have got a bit close to her vehicle). My travelling companions thought the train scene was amazing, tftc
Took a little while to find (mainly because we were distracted by the other carriages.) but in the end we found it. Great hide and great location! TFTC!
Great spot for a cache, the kids loved the train wreck and I found the cache. Thanks Bowz2.
On the first day of our Easter trip we did a train crash cache at Walloway. The last cache of the trip is another train smash. Impressed to see all the bent up wagons. I think it is brown caol (the extra dirty stuff) that is carried by the train.
Our 48th of 56 Caches found for our Pt Augusta and surrounding area cache run.
After finding the correct road in to this we got within 150 meters which was close enough so walked the rest of the way to the cache. Got to GZ and started looking in all the folds until finally spotting it.

The forces in any sort of collision are usually pretty formidable, but those released when a train is involved are something else again . Talk about a crumple zone.
Interesting graveyard. Thanks for showing me this Boyz2. Cheers .
