I am regretfully archiving this cache since there's been no response from nor action by the cache owner within the time frame requested in the last reviewer note.
Hi kanemegan
This geocache was brought to my attention as being in need of an owner maintenance visit and after my previous reviewer note, there has been no owner response. The cache owner needs to check on this cache ASAP and either replace it or archive it, after picking up any geo-litter. See the [maintenance section of the Geocache Listing Requirements/Guidelines](http://www.geocaching.com/about/guidelines.aspx#listingmaintenance).
I've added this cache to my watchlist, and I will check back in four weeks to be sure that the maintenance has been done. In the meantime, I have temporarily disabled this listing. When the maintenance is completed, the owner can enable the listing by clicking on the link below the cache name to return it to active status.
Whatever your intentions, please **post a note** here on the cache page (not email) to let us know that you are still active and maintaining the cache. If a month passes without seeing a response, then I'll assume that this listing should be archived.
Please note, that if a cache is archived due to lack of owner maintenance, the cache is unable to be unarchived.

Not seen for a while. I looked quite a few likely places, with no signs, but it looks as if some of logs near fence have been moved. And there are now equipment that are probably part of the reconstruction of the power station. Suggest archiving?
An evening return visit, found at cords suggested in previous logs. Totally overgrown by blackberry. Moved cache to an obvious place which is easier to get to, should be safe from the weed trimmer and much closer to the advertised GZ so even if the CO doesn't change the coords it should be findable.
Checked GZ then every other post in vicinity. Now see past logs indicate 314 / 278 near gate is more accurate - will have to check that later, but it's close to logged area.
Found using coords given in an earlier log. Well away from given coordinates! Was at 2nd post up from the gate. Very difficult to retrieve as area is now covered by brambles.
Have now moved cache to S42 07.305 E171 52.249. In a place where people will be able to find it again. Under log, beside prostrate post. Hope this is okay with CO.

Definitely not on the coordinates. No pencil so didn't sign the wet logbook. Interesting place. Thanks for the find.
Was sort of hard to find as it's my first geocache. Log book was wet also and no pencil thankyou
Really interesting eh, what people with ideas can do. It was all so revolutionary way back then. The provision of electricity throughout the country took much longer, it was another 60 years before electricity arrived in our neck of the woods.
Out and about caching in the town. This one took far longer than it should! Got there in the end and have the bramble scratches to prove it ‘
Thanks for placing and greetings from the

We are on a holiday to Karamea. We are heading there via Arthur's Pass.It should have been called bottled prickles. Coordinates 20 metres out.

Have done a cache here a long time ago, this place has changed a bit good to see all the signage very informative, cord a bit out..
Easy find after reading the description more carefully. Coordinates were about 20 m out, but I was using my phone.
Sadly visting beautiful Reefton for the funeral of a good mate of my husbands. Went for a walk along the river to try and ease the sadness. Found the cache after a bit of search. Co-ords seem to be a bit out Great historical spot. TFTC
Looked like there had been some clean up of the blackberries etc, as cache was sting out in the open, re hid back under rocks. TFTC
Finding ourselves in Reefton as a result of the travel disruptions, what else should you do but go for a walk and sneak a few caches. Had a thoroughly pleasant walk around exploring the place.
This one took a little looking to pin down the right hint object, as the coords are a bit wayward.
TFTC.

Exploring Reefton with MUEZ: On our trip along the West Coast we decided to stay a night in this nice little town with heaps of history. - Thanks to the hint and having read some previous log entries, I have already had a pretty good idea where to look for the container. Caught some scratches from the thornes protecting the container but otherwise it was not a problem to find it. / TFTC!
Sure the co ords are off a bit but with a bit of fossicking the find was made on a beautiful evening.
Thanks

The coordinates are not good but with the hint and some logic the cache was quickly found after some Muggles left the area.
4 kids and I, on a mini break from Nth Canty. Pretty stoked to have found this. Wasn't successful 6wks ago. Agree with others comments and clues, not quite where it's showing on the app. TFtc!
The Seagnoid, Zara & I are off on another magical mystery tour to outback NZ. Having survived walking around Lyell and soaking in lots of mining history, we are now heading for Reefton. Lots of interesting info boards to see. Some caches over the river, so after getting directions we head that way for a walk along the river and more historic sites. The Seagnoid got the drop on me while I was still reading info boards and searching places it was not. Still a great place to visit with lots of interesting info along the way. Cheers
Slightly surprised by the DNFs here on this cache, although I did find the cache about 15m from its published coordinates, but still a fairly obvious place. Found with TaybeeDragon on a Reefton weekend. Love the history here, lots of good information!
By the way, the cache is in good condition, so aside from needing to update the coordinates, the co can clear the needs maintenance flag.

Staying in Reefton for Easter weekend. We enjoyed doing the power house walk today but this cache remained elusive despite checking all hint objects near gz.
Not the most obvious post but we got there in the end. Photo not a spoiler but of the river.
An interesting place to hide a cache! 20m from my GZ but the hint was good to give a bit of help. Cheers.
Found on a Waitangi Weekend to, from and around Reefton
Thanks to all the CO's for their hides.

This one was around 20m off co-ordinates by my gps, which has been reading other caches direct to the spot. Used the clue to eventually find after checking almost all in the vicinity.
Found the fence post by the original coordinates and didn't find a cache or remnants of one but found a laminated piece of paper with "jaspah found this cache" written on it. So have upgraded the cache to a plastic sistema container with notebook, pencil and a whistle on a black ribbon inside. It's wrapped in a snap lock bag and is sited at the original coordinates. The clue is still relevant.
It has been a while since this cache was found.
So I was not overly surprised that I didn't find it this morning
I checked every fence post within range.
But the site of the power station is well worth a visit
I s'pose you could say illuminating
To think that such cutting edge technology was up and running in what was a remote corner of the world is quite a feat by the locals

Knowing it has been moved helped.. easy find tho needs maintenance and no supplies 2 repair sorry..
Finally got there after a bit of a grid search. Log book too wet to sign. TFTC
Found with OZWalker whilst we were staying in Reefton. This cache is in urgent need of attention, very very wet and the log book has turned into pulp. We found the co-ords to be a little bit out, maybe S42 07.309 E171 52.270 is closer but it depends on how long you wait for different satellite configurations to pass overhead. TFTC
Finally after a time out found it. ....needs a major overhaul.. very wet.. couldn't sign book...
Spent a while at GZ having a gander before starting the hunt. Spent a while more fruitlessly hunting before reading the logs. To bump it up, do try S42 07.315 E171 52.276 aka gate. Cheers
It was getting late in the day but it's never too late to hunt down a cache even if by torchlight. No luck at the purported GZ so we used the co-ords posted by a previous finder for quick success. The logbook is impossible to sign as per a previous 'needs maintenance' note. Thank you kanemegan.
No lightning in a bottle, just a small torch. The coords are well out but the alternative posted recently works fine. Logbook is mush so I couldn't sign. Thank you Kanemegan for placing this cache.
Found the cache, after reading earlier logs and widening my search area. My coords 314/278. Unfortunately the log book was too wet and manky to sign. The cache is in urgent need of maintenance.
Found on a nice evening walk while staying in Reefton. Coordinates were a bit off for this one, looked around lots of fence posts and eventually got the right one
Cache wet but log is mostly dry. As others have said coords way off. Shame that it looks like the restoration didn't make it's 2013 target!!! Hope it happens in the end. TNLN. TFTC.
This took a while to find. We read logs and widened our search and in the last place we looked there it was. Tftc
While decaying I was also checking out his old relic. It should at least have an info board here. Read the logs and found cache to be 14m out. Just think of gate.
Yeah Reefton.
Heading over to the Westcoast for a weekends family adventure. Stopped at a few caches along the way. After grabbing an icecream in Reefton we looped back to walk across the bridge and wander up to this cache. Cool spot & history. Thanks for bringing us here.

After a long fruitless search i resorted to downloading all previous records and found the alternative coordinates from edvern. They were spot on. Well protected by blackberries TFTC

If we hadn't seen the prior log giving perfect co ords we would never have found this cache. It was 16m from GZ. Safe and dry but not easy to get. Next post up from gate. Quite exciting to see such an historic site and to think it might be restored. Certainly needs TLC. Even the sign boards are missing. NINO TFTC
Please check that this is still here, it's definitely Not at the co-ords. May be at the co-ords mentioned below, we had a good look but the area is so overgrown and wet today we gave it a miss. Please revise and correct the co-ords so others don't waste their time.
I'm 100% sure they won't be having this restored and up and running by 2013 - a pity as its a great history. Thanks so much for pointing this out. TFTC #5112
Out for a cold walk & passing remembered there was a cache here, so a revisit & have left a TB. TFTC
Searched long and hard for this one, widening our search considerably. Was about to drive off empty-handed when one last place to look was noticed well away from the deer fence, and the cache was found at S 42 07.315 E 171 52.276. Hope the project to restore this powerhouse goes ahead - it deserves to be recognised.
Nice walk before lunch and after a short hunt came up with the goods, although the device said it was 24 meters away.
TFTC!

Been up here before not knowing that a cache was nearby. GPS is out but common sense prevails, it's there. Bit of a muggle area as locals run, walk etc this track EVEN early sunday mornings! tftc
Cache is there, approx 20 metres from GZ - just look for another fence and the Hiding place is quite obvious TFTC!
Had a good walk and watched the youngsters swimming under the swing bridge but couldnt find the cache.
Cache replaced as missing. Digger been through so probably got it. In a slightly smaller temporary container.
This looked familiar... ( http://coord.info/GCGNZG )
I suspect a major part of the cost will be widening the access road and providing parking (or closing it off entirely and forcing the use of the track from town, which might cut down on the popularity)
I hope it gets done, though, as this is quite an interesting claim to fame that deserves to be memorialised where it actually happened.

The logbook's quite damp, and it's listed as Regular when it's barely Small size.
Important piece of history here. great spot to have a cache. We did the lazy option. Thanks.
Now that brought back memories...we think. Logging while travelling, but we are sure we looked for a cache here in our early caching days that proved to be missing. That day we had to dodge muggles, but a clear run today. Thanks for the history and the cache.
