GC23BMR Aussie DayzMy run of Thursdays off are coming to an end so KerriMG and I grabbed the chance for some Thursday caching. After minimal planning we decided on this area for todays adventure as we both had lots of caches to be found. Nice walk into the cache. After a brief search our favourite type of cache container was found. TFTC ManicWombat
Out for the day with nikid1 and we headed to Springfield stopping for a few caches along the way. We found a great place to park & could follow the path pretty much straight to GZ where it was a quick find of a favourite container type. The walk in certainly got the heart pumping. Thanks for the cache ManicWombat
Found along with the Westside Cadet Club. After bashing through the bush we found it! The boys were excited to find an ammo box full of goodies. No pen inside and we forgot our own
Found some caches up the road in the Opossum Nature Reserve and as this cache was close to where I parked, decided to grab this one too. Followed the access track to the GZ and quickly spotted the cache. Cache and log in good condition.TFTC. TNLN. SL. TBs Eddie Mac to New Zealand and Back, Prado Owl , Rawhide and Kiwi Bird visited.Find # 1858.
We found the cache and a huge spider clinging onto it for dear life: Tftf!
After a lovely Father’s Day breakfast with family the wife suggested I head out and enjoy an afternoon of caching whilst she and the kids knock up a meal for dinner.
She didn’t have to suggest twice and I was soon in the car and off. After a big day of yakking yesterday I was keen for a more gentle day today so it was off to the Ipswich LGA to pick up a few more caches to complete a challenge I’m working on.
Found a safe place to park the geowagon, and slipped off to locate the prize.
I soon spied the prize and had it in hand, log signed and returned safely to its place of origin. Back in the car and off to the next adventure.
A big thanks to the cache owner for making this cache available for fellow cachers to find
Cheers

After visiting the nearby TB Hotel, I thought I would continue my walk past this geocache. A reasonably easy route through the bushland to arrive at GZ, and I followed it up with a quick find. The cache container and logbook were in good shape, and a nice ammo can container find too! Thanks ManicWombat for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

Today with an early morning start, I commenced with a hike in the southern area of Flinders-Goolman Conservation Park. Three targeted summits from Mt Elliott Road were ascended, and it was a mixture of steep terrain, lantana and other spiky vegetation, and a few rock scrambles; a tough walk, but also enjoyable under perfect hiking weather that wasn't too hot.
Following the walk, I started to make my way towards home, stopping in Redbank Plains, and a few areas in Springfield and Brookwater. In addition, I walked around the new Brisbane Lions' new training ground at Springfield Central Stadium / Brighton Homes Arena, and finally stopped and made a circuit of Spring Lake in Springfield Lakes.
I was able to participate in / complete three Adventure Labs during my outing today:

I was sitting at home when I get a call from Triple Turmoil, I’m free of kids for the afternoon, let’s go cache. WOW within half an hour she was on the doorstep, bikes loaded and we were on our way. There is a group of 5 or 6 caches that we were going to hit for the afternoon ride. This was her first time on her new bike.
We did manage to sneak in a few extra caches in our travels. Thanks to all CO’s for the afternoons adventures and hides.
All were fun little adventures and easy finds, we signed the logs and replaced all as found.

I had a spare few hours in the afternoon and the two turmoils were off on various adventures. I decided it was time to do some of the caches that the children would whinge about. I called Chamad and within half an hour we were on our way and off to this area to get some smilies.
A quick find, luckily, since it was beginning to get dark.

Headed out on the geo-bike for a few caches after parting way with my granddaughter.
Decided to hit a few around Brookwater. Easiest find if the day.

A nice little walk and then a bit of a search around the trees. I was looking on the wrong side of the track for a while. When I looked on the other side it was a quick find. TFTC!
Jed and Crucible Wesley were brothers, both blacksmiths, in the Effing Forest, until they got the idea they could build a locomotive. A few fundamental errors later, they were a waft of pink steam on the breeze.
We went up towards the water tower on the way in but followed the road out. The GPS bounced around a bit but we eventually found it. Thanks for the cache
After nearly 12 years out here the Systema container was past it's use by date. Replaced entire cache including log book as the old one was rather wet. Cache is now an ammo box which, if does not get muggled, should last for many years. Happy hunting, and as always please hide the cache well when done.
Having finished the circuit we had taken through the nearby bush land, we headed for a short walk further up hill to the Watertower and beyond.
We found this one no problems, and although the container looks to be in reasonable condition, the log book was soaking wet.
We have added a new log sheet and another clip lock bag.
Thanks ManicWombat,
Domsky

Final of 20 caches found in Springfield today. Easy find but unfortunately the container was full of water, probably after last week’s rain. I noticed there was a slight crack on the lid near the seal, so that’s probably why it leaked. I managed to sign the sodden logbook but it will need replacing. Tftc
Couldn't slide container out, but tried to put back so you could. Lovely spot, TFTC!
Nice quick find - even if I took the long way round to get to GZ. I also accidentally meet Mr Spider, who was about the size of a small dog (Ok, maybe a slight exaggeration...) and was guarding the approach to this cache.
I think he was amused by my funky dancing/rapid spider web removal techniques, before scurrying away.

A couple of bonus caches at the end of our walk.

Make sure to check for ticks after walking through the bush, I had one after doing this cache but still a great cache.
Before starting our tour of the bush, we had first called into Springfield Fair to use the facilities and possibly grab a coffee. I say possibly because even losing a round of cards to a lay down misere would not normally stop me. There was only one cafe in the place and the place was full and this was before cafes and restaurants were closed and I started feeling precious. It didn’t stop me going to the pub later in the day.
Mrs Woodyrothwell had that look in her eye like she wanted to go into Coles and panic buy or at least look for some toilet paper. No one wants to wipe their arse with sand paper but I have been panic buying wine so we could use the labels on the bottles as toilet paper if needed. I vetoed her decision to walk around Coles needlessly and it caused us to check out the butcher which was a gold mine in waiting.
The butcher had some sausages with some unknown flavours that all sounded awesome so we brought a bunch to put in the fridge in the car boot to take home. I saw Mrs Woodyrothwell hand over a $50 note and even that wasn’t enough and more money was needed. Apart from feeling broke at least I got to cross off eating sausages that cost more than a car off my bucket list. tftc

We are nomads. Having left Perth WA in February 2014 we now live in our caravan and go wherever the will or caches take us.
Recently completing a stretch of work for the GC2018 Games. Time to get back to normal.
Visiting the area while Mrs Felix was in the nearby Marta Hospital for knee surgery.
Welll... How many roundabouts does one have to negotiate between caches.
Seems the road developer's had these at the top of the list..
Quick find just off the track.

Vehicle track to follow? I would guess a Leopard tank would have trouble negotiating the "vehicle track" at the moment. But, enough complaining, found the cache OK. The log is now fairly dry rather than saturated as reported by the previous finder in 2017, but still left it out of the plastic bag. No swaps today, but I did covet the little 'spirit' level from Jaycar. TFTC, Manic Wombat.
Log is wet as well as the bag it was in signed the log best we could left the book out if the bag hope it helps to dry

Not many muggles around and almost a drive-by here.

Very easy grab. Nice view from up here. Last week I was geocaching in the bush in the distance. Today looking down on Springfield Lakes from rhe opposite direction. TFTC
#6 for the day
Hot on the heels of Doully who made the find.
Thought we had found another water reservoir. Full of water. Unable to log a wet find. Propped the container against it's supporting structure in upside down position. Hope it dries out... TFTC ManicWombat

I thought we would have the area to ourselves but no, there were 4 workmen at the water tank.
This cache was full of water. Looks like water has been in there a while. Everything very wet. Needs replacing

We visited this bushland today specifically to find another nearby TB Motel cache. Of course we couldn't resist the lure of this one - it's really is 'just over there'.
Thanks for this cache and adding to our fun today ManicWombat.

Out on this side of town with barbbowman, Raynersinoz and Just a Trifle targeting specific caches to complete a challenge.
The girls ran out of time last visit, so we made sure this was added to the list. Of course I decided to take the direct route which isn't always the best , but eventually made our way to GZ.
Nice quick find. Log signed and replaced.

Mrs Just a Trifle was out and about again for a day of caching with the lovely ladies raynersinoz and barbbowman plus the intrepid FastEd59. There were some specific caches to be found today to enable everyone to meet some challenge requirements so we did a bit of travelling today.
On arrival at this cache, we were fairly certain as to where it would be, the cache was quickly retrieved and our names added to the log. With the cache returned to its hiding spot, we continued on our way.
Thank you ManicWombat for having placed the cache and maintaining it for everyone to enjoy

Out with barbb, Mrs JAT and FastEd today, this one was close to where we'd parked, so we couldn't let it go by. Nice easy find. TFTC ManicWombat
Out again here for the first time since the CITO. I was testing out a new app and tablet, which resulted in us initially searching the wrong side of the tower. Once I sorted myself out, a quick jaunt downhill led us to a path tangent to the one we were looking for. A bit of a stuttering start to the day, though we found the cache eventually.

Mum found it first and remembers riding this track heading to the old oval as a child.
There seems to be a bit of pipe work going on down by the road and theres a nice big flat track leading up the hill. Seemed a waste not to use it so seeing as no one was around or awake I motored on up the hill and parked near the cell phone tower. A quick stroll through the bush, dodging a few fleeting roos and the hide soon came into view. I lifted the main rock and there was a dirty toad taking shelter under there, geez I hate toads. I kicked him out of his warm bed then signed in.
Thanx again MW, nice to see a big container.

It was one of those, I really should go home now, just one more cache kind of deals. What is a couple of metres between friends when you are so far from home. Just DO IT. I had a nice walk in. Admittedly I took the wrong route but it seems it didn't really matter. I found a nice large cache. Thanks for the journey.
Out for an afternoon of caching with Rhyssa6. The day was coming to a close and we werent sure how much light we would have. I managed to find a way to park quite close to GZ. As we made our way on foot, we saw yet another way that would have got us even closer! My phone put me here, whilst Ryhssa6s put her over there. Turned out that the cache was over there. We signed the log and returned the cache to its hiding spot. Hopefully, there is time for one more before we head home
Coming to the end of our afternoon hiking in this area and we weren't sure whether we'd have enough light left to do these last 2. Luckily we were able to drive quite close to this one and it wasn't too difficult to find.
A nice cloudy day, but not too cold, so we headed out for a day of caching.
This one was a quick find, cache in good condition.
Many thanks for placing this cache, ManicWombat, for us and others to find.

Wow. These tracks have sure taken a beating with all the recent rain. Even so, an enjoyable walk in the darkening bush with only light rain falling. Found at 5.40pm on 2nd April 2015. TFTC.
I had planned this caching day a fair while ago but due to weather and other priorities we had to put it off so I was VERY excited to finally be putting my plan into action!!!
My idea had been to grab as many caches that fitted into one or another challenge and add a few caches close to them to fill out the time.
The list included Placed Date, Qld's Oldest, Animal Alphabet Challenge & People Alphabet Challenge Caches in the Springfield & Ipswich areas.
This meant we had to drive past a lot of other caches but I wanted to grab the list so we just had too do it.
This one didn't fit into any of those catergories but it was close by so we grab it as well!!!!
We had already found MW's other cache along this track so we headed along to find this one.
The heat was starting to get to us but it was nice walking in the bush.
We soon got to GZ and soon after that uncovered the prize, Aussie, Aussie, Aussie, Oi, Oi Oi!!!!
The contents were very Aussie related and in keeping with that Geo Wife did a swap and we took the TB "Onya Mate" to move it along.
Thanks MW TFTC SL TSLS Thanks for the walk in the bush.

Took the mountain bikes out to Springfield and had a great afternoon negotiating some pretty rough tracks at times.
This was the last for the day after returning to the parking waypoint.
No trouble here - cache and log both in good condition.

No one around on a warm Boxing Day morning. Dropped daughter at the nearby gym for a work out and had my own exercise searching for a couple of caches. Found this one without too much trouble and left my own tacky Australia Day souvenir in the box. All good. Thank youfor the cache.
Out for an early morning walk with Pippa the Wonderdog looking for some higher terrain caches. I am not sure how this area has slipped my attention, but I finally had the chance to swing by and see what is there.
After visiting the TB hotel I wandered a little further down the path to find this one. Some nice views along the way. Cache was found without too much trouble, and in good condition.
After signing the log I returned to the Zoomin Shroom to try out a few more nearby on a different track.
Thanks Manic Wombat!

Became obvious when approached from the right side. Almost nackered by the time I route marched in from the TB Motel. Would have been better to have gone back to the track. Nice hide.
A very Aussie cache hidden in a lovely area. Great views! Thanks for the cache ManicWombat!
Continued up from the TB Hotel and got even more muddy. I would like to continue on as the rain has eased off but it is just way too muddy. Back to the car to try and clean my 'going out' shoes before dinner tonight. TFTC.
