Got this after navigating around the blackberries.Sat on the log to do the paperwork and Mrs Riddell got bitten twice by a huge bull ant with a nasty reaction. Up with the arm, on with the ice etc etc.TFTC
14:34Based in Wangaratta for a few days we took the opportunity to head toward Beechworth, we found a variety of caches, in a part of Victoria we love visiting. Probably approached this from the wrong direction (Rawes Road), but managed not to get attacked bythe blackberries. We did catch a glimpe of some campers as we passed later on, heading up Fletchers Dam Road. Thanks to haveanez for hiding caches in interesting locations. 36184
Good to get a previous DNF. Found with Harrowang about 10m from GPS coords. Did some maintenance on the cache at it was a mess. Now dry log book done. SL at 11:25am.
Out and about with Beavar and on our way to do the Nutty November series. We stopped in here at Hurdle Flat Reserve so beavar could find this one. Log book and zip lock bag a soggy mess, so replaced them and put back in place. One less maintenance job for haveanez!
Found it,
Was very WET INSIDE,
may need some attention.
Move to higher ground could be a solution.
Nice spot, LOTS OF MOZZIES.

Day off today and being such a beautiful day made the easy decision to go caching with the family. Decided to head to Stanley for the day as I have a few solved puzzles.
Quick find here. Little bit of water in cache drained out, log book still able to be signed. Tftc !

A georgous day spent with Math64 and Bucrog52 out Stanley way. Despite being a local I have never explored this area before. So lucky to live in the beautiful NE.

An area now rich with caches though back in 2010 this must have been the first in the area.

Found this one on our way out of the plantation .... was too close to not grab!
me and my mum and a small picnic and decided to grab this cache while we were there. tftc!
A decade plus old - nice incentive to visit. A fine range of puzzles to but over! I’m supposed to be heading home after 3 weeks in Tassie but looking at the next week and the perfect weather and a wee mission to be accomplished, decided a detour was in order. Reception and phone GPS was not so friendly so route taken to get this clutch of caches I was heading to tested my driving skills. I’ll know a better route when I return for more! TFTC and the FUN
Once we found our way around the blackberries, one of the party quickly came up with the goods. Thanks for the cache.
Day three of Beechworth camping road trip with Papi4506, Geoturtle37 & RoamingHowie.
After finding the best way in, GT37 quickly spotted the elusive cache.

After spending a week away camping from Melbourne I’ve now moved on to Beechworth for some caching with OzHockeyChick, GeoTurtle37 and Papi4506.
After deciding a trek through the blackberries was not a preferred option we took an alternative approach and found the cache soon after from a much more manageable location!
Thanks haveanez for the cache.

A solo drive around Beeech and Stanley today. 11 finds with 2 dnf's. Enjoyable day.. What is disgusting is the rubbish people leave behind. Grrrr Thanks for placement of Cache.
Headed for an afternoon trip to Stanley for some apple picking. Detoured on the way home to collect a couple of caches in the Stanley forest. This one took me a while to find as gps was jumping all over the place. Eventually found, signed log and replaced as found.
Loved the fungi that is growing in the area..

One last one before looking for butterflies - GPS lead me into the bush where the blackberries were rampant but backed up and quickly had cache - log damp but signable - TFTC
#2767 Following some recent rain it is a little sloshy around the unofficial picnic area. When we arrived we were greeted by the pleasant quiet and serenity of the bush. As we approached GZ, some knobheads in 4wd's had turned up to do some over revving and mud creation. Fortunately they didn't hang around and we were able to complete the find in peace again after checking about 20 odd hidey spots before finally spotting the bugger! TFTC haveanez.
Wow, look at all the pretty blossoms here! Jonquils, hyacinth and some others, so prett. Cache s good, thanks
Shelley0 and I decided to head somewhere where we could take the geodog Tessie for a few walks. Thru Beechie and towards Stanley was the go, before returning to Kerferd Lake for a campfire and a bbq.
This took ages to find, GPS's were wandering among the trees here.
Thanks again Jase and Lones

Wasn't where we expected it to be but managed to find it by accident, lovely spot within the pine forests.

A Southern Puzzle Plunder was hatched a few weeks ago for this weekend with ZQX, AngelG27 and Fox in Jox. Much puzzle solving homework ensured with a focus on the higher D/T combinations, and also finding specific caches to fulfill the requirements for some challenges. The specific plan/route was only finalised over the last few days; start with the Nutty November series, pick off challenges and puzzles from around Beechworth and back to Albury, find interesting traditionals on the way that would help us qualify for a challenge to find 25 D/T combinations in a day, finish the day over dinner with a another Canberra caching team also caching in the area, overnight in Albury, pick off challenges and puzzles from around Chiltern and back to Albury, and finally aim to be home before dark.
We left Canberra at 5am, and found the first cache in Yackandandah at 9am, finishing for the day just before midnight. On the Sunday we started around 7am and left Albury soon after 3pm, arriving home around 7pm.
The mission exceeded expectations, with several caching goals achieved amongst the team. Our individual statistics varied a little, due to previous finds and other personal goals. I passed the 7500 finds mark and ended up with 48 finds on the Saturday (with over 40 unique D/T combinations) and another 13 finds on the Sunday (involving lots more walking). Overall we found about half the pool of puzzles and challenges we had pre-prepared as possibilities, so we'll be back again sometime.
This was our 16th find for the day. Chosen as we were passing to fill a gap in our D/T combinations for the days finds. Cache soon found. While approaching the cache I walked straight into a branch. A bit of pressure for a few minutes was all that was required to stem the blood flow. TFTC.

The Great Southern Puzzle Plunder plan had been hatched. ZQX, TikvaNZ, AngelG27 and I would travel from Canberra to Albury and northern Vic regions for a great weekend of puzzle finds and other assorted caches that would achieve various goals for each of us. Prior to our departure, we worked our way through a list of puzzles over a few weeks to get Final coords. We then departed Canberra at 5am and returned at 7pm the following evening, fairly pooped. I managed to find 50 different D/T combinations over the 2 days, 42 on Saturday. A huge amount of fun...and some terrible jokes and puns throughout.
Having collected a puzzle series, we were now focused on filling the D/T grids. Near GZ, TikvaNZ shared a moment with a stick at forehead height. Has a nice scratch as a trophy. Quick find. TFTC haveanez

After some careful planning and lots of puzzle solving homework, TikvaNZ, ZXQ, Fox in Jox and I headed to the Albury Wodonga area on a geocaching mission over the weekend. We targeted high DT caches, but also found some lower DT caches in order to maximize our DT combinations on the Saturday. I got 36 different DT combinations, which I was more than happy with. On the Sunday, fewer caches, but ones we had specifically selected to help us with various personal challenges. A great weekend, good company and lots of fun on our Great Southern Puzzle Plunder!
15th of the day at 1240. By now we realized we had time to go for one of the goals of the trip which was 25 different DT combinations on one day. So we picked out a few likely caches in and around Beechworth to help us with this goal. This was a quick find, once we walked around the blackberry bushes and TikvaNZ staunched the blood from his altercation with a stick. TFTC

I remember this one because TikvaNZ ducked under a tree, but head first into a slim stump. His head wound bled like head wounds do, and the poor fella copped a heap of advice about how to treat it. We managed to get back to the car without any further mishap. From this cache we headed in the general direction of Beechworth. It was nice to get out of the thick of the forest, especially since the car had failed to start at one point!

I was on leave so plans were made to head to the Beechworth area with My good Mate the Roostaman, Today we were on a mission to bring up our Miles stones of 15000 and 13000 cache finds, We had a great day bike riding and Four Wheel Driving. Thanks haveanez for the cache.
We are hooked and keep going for one more. Found this one right on dark. Good camouflaged spot TFTC
After looking high and low we read the hint! Found it along with lots of critters.
Found the cache but not before finding a very deep muddy puddle. Took a little longer to find the cache as I kept finding the puddle.
The kids loved the mud everywhere then loved finding the cache.
The kids loved the mud everywhere then loved finding the cache.
Didn't sight another human during the whole time I was there! Would be good for some quiet camping. I didn't get anywhere till I used the hint!
Gps had us all over the place! But we soon found it after looking at the hint
I set out for two days with the intention of doing some high D/T caching, starting in the Cathedral Ranges and then working my way to Mt Buller where I would spend the second day. I was looking forward to the caches and hiking around Mt Buller but unfortunately mother nature had other ideas with my plan as on the Friday afternoon, as I arrived at Buller, severe storms hit the region and thats when the downpour started and continued for the next 48 hours. So the long hikes were out this time and some slip sliding muddy 4WD caching resulted instead up around Yackandandah and the Barandudah Ranges.
Up bright and early this morning, the weather was still atrocious, so I decided to head north and try my caching luck up there. Cruising about the tracks here I stopped to find this cache. My GPS took ages to settle on GZ and I thought it was by the track but I ended up having to go further into the bush and eventually found the cache.
Thanks for the hide.

[:(!] Took the geoGrand Vitara for a spin to see what she can actually do on a caching run for half a day and this was on of them, parked the geocar as close as possible to GZ and walked in from there, on arrival at GZ the cache was located and it was quickly in hand.

Nice little spot. Shame about the pigs who dump rubbish here. If we'd had the sides on the tray and some gloves we woulda tidied up here. Pinstriped Prado suggested how nice it would have been to start cleaning up sites like this, if only the council would start offering free tip runs to encourage this kind of community support.
Love a good day in the fourby with the odd cache too. TFTC
***After finding this cache on Feb 15, we had a think and Chooksta and the 'do decided to return to clean up today (2/3/14) for Clean Up Australia Day. We took away a full box trailer of rubbish and left the place much nicer for any future cachers. Planning to do another clean up next CUA day, if any local cachers are interested - get in touch.

Decided this would be the one for today to keep my consecutive days streak going. Ventured out during my lunch break and found GZ easily but the GPS had me looking around a 10m radius and the centre of it wasn't close to where I found the cache.
The clue helped as it turned out to look exactly as I thought, just took ages to find the right patch of land!
Glad I didn't have to return to work with a DNF today.

Went for a drive with the family on fathers day and found this one. Took some searching but we eventually got it. Swapped a couple of kids things. Thanks Haveanez for the Cache!!
Out with geograndkids Ted and Sam. Ted was the finder, with the cache being well concealed.

Heading out for a drive to see what caches are about and came across this on the radar. Stopped about twenty meters down the road from GZ and then stumbled through the undergrowth over fallen trees and across drains to get back, should have taken the easier path. Looked around for ages and the GPS wasn’t really playing the game at all. Sat down for a while in the hope it would settle and decided that checking for a hint might be a good idea Ahhhh !!!! that’s the ticket. With the GPS now being a lot more helpful the cache was quickly in hand. Speaking of hand, there certainly is a lot of blackberry’s around at the moment. Thanks for a very sneaky hide sl tnl: stingray t4tc
What a beautiful day in Stanley for caching, nice and quiet. We parked the car and were glad that there was no one around. After reading the last log we were not sure what we were in for. It sounded like a needle in the haystack hide. Not at all, with spot on co-ords we found the well hidden cache in no time. Loved the hiding spot very natural blended in well. We had been here before in the days before we had met the CO, exploring the area. A great spot to stop for a picnic, maybe another time. Thanks Haveanez, loved the hiding spot.
A flat hurdle by name, but a massive caching hurdle by nature !!
This superb area was totally deserted today so I could search for the cache in peace.
And search I did !!
For over an hour !! [:o]
After half an hour a fizzy cola was called for....
After an hour it was back to the geomobile to make lunch
I returned to GZ with a delicious sanger and sauce butty in one paw and a poking stick in the other
With lunch over I decided that this cache was going to be a no show... or in caching parlance... a DNF
It was just after making that decision that I kicked a tuft of grass out of frustration and found the cache [:o]
OMGoodness !! Holy Cow!! Sufferin' succotash !! I can't believe it isn't butter !!
That is one nasty cache hide !!
I loved it [^][^][^]
I made sure to put everything back exactly as I found it for the next victim... er, finder

Up in the sunny north-east on a caching run and managed to find this well hidden cache at 2:35pm. We were impressed to see the massisve peppermint trees, they grow so much bigger here than down around Ballarat. SL TFTC
School holiday outing with the kids up to Stanley today. Great weather to be out and some fun entertainment for the young ones.
First cab off the rank today, and for some reason the GPS wasn't playing the game. It was like it was 'frozen' and couldn't read my movement.
After a bit of time spent trying to get it to co-operate, and using the clue provided, I was able to make the well- hidden find, and SL at 2pm.
Very nice little hideaway for a cache placement, we enjoyed the spot very much. TFTC haveanez.

I'll apologise in advance for the copied and pasted logs, but I don't think after this long and (almost) successful day I can manage to differentiate each individual cache! Purpledreamer, Tattboy1 and I set of this morning in an effort to log my 1000th cache. We planned to head to Myrtleford, then Yackandandah then over the top of Stanley to Beechworth and eventually Woolshed. After fording streams (more like rivers after the recent rains!) driving though boggy tracks, boggy car parks, boggy picnic areas, climbing hills and rocks, seeing amazing sites and finding some awesome finds and clever containers, I ended up logging 20 caches for the day, logging my most cache types for a day and ending up just one short of my goal - finishing up at 999 finds.
A massive thanks to all of the CO's and to Purpledreamer and Tattboy1 for the company, the extra pairs of eyes and the laughs. Bloody muppets, both of you!
Oh, and before I forget...

This is a well known local spot but I hadn't been tramping off in the direction of the cache before. We arrived late in the afternoon and heard deer calling off in the pines. Had to dodge a few 'landmines' covered in toilet paper (keep an eye out for that!). Took a little bit of hunting to find the cache and had to use the hint. Took nothing and left a friend for the little dinosaur in there. TFTC.
Found just before lunch, but didn't have any picnic stuff with us.
Took a long while to locate as the GPS was wavering all over the place.
Eventually found and was very relieved, so now we can go back to camp for some lunch. TNLNSL TFTC haveanez,

Called in to retrieve my GC to move elsewhere and dropped in one of my Pathtags. Cache in good order.
Second go at this one too. Finally success! By the litter laying around I reckon this picnic area must be muggle party time on Saturday nights! Thanks for the cache.
#95. Woo hoo, first to find since 19/5/11. Cache in very good condition and dry. My GPS also fluctuated wildly here and when GZ finally found it was reading almost 10mts out. I was just about to give up when GZ discovered, eventually. Took: Nothing, Left: 2010 Geocoin to begin its journey through the caching world.
Got to the GZ and had a bit of search to find this on by tourch light. Finally found by GeoJen much to her delight, we signed the log and off for another torch light search
12 of 24 on a day out caching with three of my Geokids, James, Jemma and Jacqueline. Another one, a very good hide i might add, that had me scratching my head. Finally got it after some guideance from the owner. My GPSr had me 22m away. No fault of the cache owner, my GPS is Sh____house under pine trees, really really badly so. TFTC and a very quiet and beautiful location.

When you are sure what kind of hide you are looking for, it tends to make you blind to other types of hides. It took us a while to eventually get the hide type.
Nice spot. Fortunately, no muggles except for a couple of kids on a trial bike.
Thanks, Robmc.

Some people say an easy find. Not so for us, it took a while but eventually I found it. I have a photo of our youngest son all covered in soot from one of the fire places, taken here, when he was two. He's now twenty six so it's a while back. Consequently this is certainly a favourite spot.

Reperio at 1420. Had some time up my sleeve so I headed out to this one. Passed by some MTB's making there way slowly up the gradient, so once at GZ I got to searching for the cache in case they made this spot a rest stop. Checked out a couple of the obvious spot until the cache was soon found in a less conventional hide. On a warmish day this is certainly a nice little spot to be.
Gratias.

This little bugger took me ages to find, due in part to all the decoy spots hidden around! And I know who put them there! I made a mistake of parking at the closest point on the road and tried to traverse the blackberries to the cache. Bad idea. After walking around I soon had the general area but the cache was very well hidden and took me a while to locate.
The coords are pretty good and should be trusted, just don't assume to know where it should be like I did!
Thanks for showing me this picnic spot, it's like an oasis of bushland amidst the desert of pines.
Cheers,
