Visiting from Perth! Decided to climb the Pyramid today with my brother (a local), and this was our first stop of the day. Took a fair bit of searching! TFTC
A brief check revealed that everything is still alright and ready to be found[^].
After a week long family holiday in and around Cairns I managed to sneak away by myself to go for a walk up Walshs Pyramid The cache at the summit has a rather nice DT and I couldn't miss out on making it a smiley. Seeing as I would be passing this one it would be crazy not to stop and leave my scribble!
I waited for a few muggles to pass and then headed towards GZ. I was a little concerned at the time as it looks like the area has had a fire recently but thankfully the container was safe and sound.
Thanks for the smiley The Azzo's

After making the iconic trip up to the very tip of Cape York we were sure to make time to find some caches and do some exploring while we were in far north Queensland We have been having a terrific time and have now found ourselves in Gordonvale for a few nights,
Mr Just a Trifle decided to tackle Mt Walsh while we were here and set off early in the morning to see how he went We had managed to solve a few of the puzzles, but no doubt there are probably some unsolved puzzle caches that he walked past along the track It was quite a bit of a slog, but eventually most of the caches were found and Mr Just a Trifle was very relieved to return to our camp site for a rest
The container was easily found and with our name added to the log book, we continued on our way.
Thank you The Azzo's for having placed the cache and for maintaining it for everyone to enjoy

Found the cache. Many thanks Azzos. The lid however has a crack in it and the log is soaking wet. May need some maintenance
Solved all the puzzles in advance and set off to conquer the pyramid with Team BlackPearl 26 - Admiral Alex, First Mate Blackbeard (Danny) and the Samoan Picaroon (George).
We hiked Frederick's Peak (In Townsville) yesterday and have done some other long walks before but we (all except George) we were suffering for most of the difficult climb (and the downwards decent).
We left the car at 10:30am and made it back 5 hours later at 3:30pm after collecting all the prizes and pausing for photos and fatigue at regular intervals.
Quick find here.
Thanks for adding to Walter's challenge.

Now that I have solved all of the puzzles and it had stopped raining I made the decision to climb the pyramid. The climb was not too difficult, but challenging because it is such a long way to the top. It took me a little under 2 hours to reach the summit grabbing most of the caches along the way. The return trip was a punishment for the legs and knees but I managed to find all the remaining caches apart from the one right at the bottom.
I passes a couple about half the way to this one but I think they probably gave up well before the top because I did not see them again.

Another one done. Woo Hoo! I love the challenge of the geocache hunt - read the notes, decipher the cache requirements, and go searching for the hide. This is an amazing world-wide game of hide and seek. I love it! I also enjoy caching with my family, and meeting fellow cachers. It really is a small world when I read over cache logs. **Thanks go to The Azzo's** for placing this cache and maintaining it. It's a great contribution to the Geocaching community and much appreciated.
I did my trip planning the night before, got up at 5am and checked out of the hotel, went for a drive then went for a serious walk starting at 630am. I enjoyed finding this one at 7:08:29 AM. Nice and easy during a tough climb.
TFTC! Cheers. *Jump Pilot*

As I logged the find I was passed by a couple on their way up as well. Think they might have been a bit faster without caching duties to attend to.

On previous visits we have eyed off the walk and the caches up the pyramid. Knowing we would have this trip out of the wet we got busy solving the last of the puzzles. We has hoped for an early start but did get away as planed to find 6 other cars already in the car park. We generally tried to make the finds on the way up which helped with much needed breaks although we had to wait out some resting muggles near a couple. It was good having the photos from the cache page as it help narrow down the hides. Chicken Itzer was probably the hardest find. Just before half way we came across some muggles coming down who recommended going no further as they though the views from the nearby slabs were great and did not think the top would be any better. Little did they know we had several other motives to get to the top with still a number of good caches to find. We lost a pen some where near the top probably on one of the scrambles but picked up a spare once back at the car. Great views along the way and our later planed start saw us suffer in the heat more than we should have. About half way up we saw a large goanna scurry up a tree. TFTC.
The Pyramid is a must do. Always a challenge but with a rewarding view and lots of Geocaches. Will come back soon to find the rest. TFTC
Today I went up the Pyramide. Thanks to Walterhellmut to accompany me.

Several years ago ( make that many) I could see this little hill in the distance every morning when we sat on the front veranda of our house in Cairns. I no longer live in the area but was back for a visit as part of the CAFNEC Far North Wilderness Tour (bike ride).
Strangely in those days even though much younger (late 1980's) I never would have considered climbing this little hill or thought I had the capacity to do so. Wind forward 20 years and after almost 10 years of geocaching and presto- here I am.
I was lucky enough to have a friend from Innisfail volunteer to accompany me but the trade off when being with a non geocacher is (a) don't stretch the friendship where clearly they are impatient while we caches poke around under rocks (b) set a time limit for your journey with rewards at the end (read -pub meal)
Hence I did not get to complete all the caches on this little hill and had a few DNF's (limited time search).
The good news is now I still have to come back another time [^] A must do experience when in the north.

Found it. First cache for the hike up the pyramid for us. Got it at 6,50am, and taking it nice and easy up the first stretch as were not sure what we were in for. GPS working well, so did not need the picture. Thanks Azzo, fun find.
In Cairns with work and thought a quick walk up the pyramid was in order.
Quick, I think not!!!
4 hrs return but an enjoyable walk. Didn't have time to grab all the caches so the top 2 got my vote. on the way down I couldn't help myself and grabbed one more
Awesome views from the top and I will be back to get the rest.

Today was our last day in Cairns and we took to opportunity by leaving the kids in the resort to climb this very challenging pyramid. And a challenging pyramid it was certainly was!! It was hard yakka for both of us. But the beautiful scenery and nature around was a great treat for all the sweat that we lost.
Some of the caches we found easily and others we had to widen our search because of the GPS signal. In hindsight, I was glad to see that snake crossing my path on the way down the pyramid otherwise I would have left one or the other cache on its path.
Thanks for this adventure!

Since arriving in the area a few weeks ago we have been admiring this amazing pyramid as we drive past it regularly. We decided we would like to tackle it before we left even though every time we drove past it seemed to get higher and steeper
Finally we could find no more excuses to leave it for another day and arrived at the base at 6.30 am to try to stay as cool as possible on the hike.
Looking for caches gave us an excuse to have a few more rests on the way up and this was the first of our finds
Today as we log this we are delighted that we managed to complete the journey however our grey nomad knees are not quite so delighted
Many thanks for the hide The Azzo's[^]

In the area working for several months so weekends are an opportunity to do some local geocaches. I arrived too late to attempt the peak, so settled for this cache to get a taste for the climb. I note there is a race for the top on 8 August...not for me, I was puffing just to get to this one. TFTC The Azzo's.
In town for a few days to visit family. Have looked at this little bump in the landscape many times but never got around to actually visiting.
Not up to doing the whole climb yet but a short sharp little walk soon rewarded us with a good view out over the local area. A quick search and soon had the cache found and log signed. TFTC

Muff1 had given me a taste of the mountain a couple of days ago, and now it is crunch time.... Up, up, up we go cache by cache, find by find..... Muff1 had done this one on another trip, but it was my first for the day. Cache located. SL TNLN TFTC. I agree a good place for a breakfast stop, however no time for that today, with an early breakfast partaken before we left.
Together with Silli1310, we went on holiday for a year. Of course, if you have so much time, you also have to visit Australia. After spending just under a month in Tasmania, we went north along the east coast for another 2 months. Today we had a day trip from Cairns to climb the Walsh Pyramid. It was extremely hot and the sweat flowed accordingly. Besides the hike, there were of course a few geocaches with interesting D/T scores on the agenda. After reaching the summit, we went back down and on the way back to the car we found this cache without any problems. Many thanks for the cache.
On our [trip around the world](http://www.hoppundweg.piekar.de/) we came to Australia as well. We started in Tasmania, rented a campervan in Melbourne and went up the Eastcoast to Cairns. Then we drove all the way to the Red Centre. We finished in Darwin. We searched many caches and found almost every cache we searched for . Thanks to all the owners of these caches. Now, 2 years later, we recognized, we will never be able to log every cache seperately... So: Sorry for this standard logtext and thanks for one of the caches, which accompanied us on our journey.
Tiring walk up after swimming all day yesterday but worth the view! Easy find. TFTC
Found on our "Making Memories" tour of Mainland Australia.

On my way up the pyramid today I decided to join in on this geocaching thing and try and locate the ones dotting the slope.
On our way back from Innisfail to Cairns and as the weather looked OK decided to tackle the pyramid this afternoon. Quick find and getting hotter. Left stash of drink for the return pick up.

Nice story behind this cache. My first find of the day, and the easiest... I spent the rest of the climb longing for breakfast rock . Took nothing left dinosaur.
The cache was safe from the recent fire. Great view, not heading to the top on this visit.

9416 kms travelled in 21 days, one awesome eclipse observed near Mt Carbine in Northern Queensland and 712 cache finds, including a small handle of FTF's.
This was a trip I'd been planning for over 12 months with the main reason being to observe the solar eclipse on the morning of the 14th of November. I had decided to drive to Palm Cove and back, where my penthouse accommodation was located, while the rest of the family flew up and back. I love the drive and the unknown adventures that lay ahead; and I even think the last time I did one this big may have been for the previous eclipse in Australia which occurred over SA.
Apart from the great experiences, awesome scenery, and the characters met, the other reason to drive was to also do some serious caching, with the plan to stop at some power trails along the way including the Fruit Run and A.S. series near Stanthorpe on the way up and the Mid North Coast Wander series, just out of Port Macquarie, on the way back.
I had five days to travel each way with ten days in between spent in Palm Cove holidaying with my family. My route up took me from Melbourne to Tocumwal and up to Glenn Innes, through Toowoomba, Rockhampton and the coast road to Cairns while my route back was a bit more erratic. Heading from Cairns to Townsville then via Charters Towers to Rockhampton. From here it was through the amazing mining region to Roma then across to Dalby down through Stanthorpe (again) to Armidale, Port Macquarie, Wagga Wagga, Tocumwal and then home - phew.
After sleeping the night in the Prado in a great location just out of Innisfail near Japoon I did some of the Pyramid caches before heading to my accommodation in Palm Cove then picking up the family from the Cairns airport.
The Walsh's pyramid series was one I had always planned to do during the road trip. Having solved the puzzles before heading up I was looking forward to hiking up the mountain. With my back pack loaded with water and museli bars, I began the ascent and soon realised as I made my way up that this was going to take a bit more effort and time that I had anticipated. It was hot and rather humid and it wasn't long before beads of perspiration were dripping of the tip of my nose to the dry earth below. In two hours I did finally make it to Pharaoh's Drum, finding all the caches along the way. There were also some great vantage points where I would have a short rest and take in the great views of the surrounding landscape below.
This was one of the nice open spots with great views where I decided to have a five minute break. A short search about and I had the cache and log signed before having a bite to eat and some cool water to drink. Thanks The Azzo's.

I was planning to climb the pyramid and then decided to see if there were any caches there. To my suprise there are a lot but I neither had the tools or the internet connection to get all the information I needed. So I decided just to concentrate on the traditionals and even then I missed one of those on the way up to half way.
I was feeling crook after eating something yesterday that didn't agree with me. I knew within the first 50 metres I didn't hav ethe strength to make it up but I talked myself into coming here.
beautiful views today. Thanks for the cache.

Beautiful hide. The container is perfect and in great condition. I really like this cache, and it's a pretty easy trip up for those that don't want to put in the effort to go all the way. T:Pirate coin L:Dinosaur. Other people can learn from the quality of this cache. Thanks.
Our first attempt at Walsh's Pyramid. Breakfast Rock seemed an achievable first stop.
The fifteen minute walk up was almost spot on. The cache was easily located and after a few minutes to admire the view, we returned to our vehicle.
I would be keen to attempt one of the higher caches but I'll have to convince some other family members first.
The cache was in good condition dispite the recent heavy rainfall.

Probably would have made sense to get this one on the way up or down from the top last week as i actually stopped right at this spot to have a look out over cairns. Alas! Not having too much luck lately. We checked about 50% of the rocks and didn't see anything.
This was to have been our first cache for the day but rain as we approached the parking area rather stopped play and so it ended up becoming our second last. We have a cache back home in the Pilbara which we placed on a pyramid hill and so was keen to do this one - OK we know we really should have done the one at the top too but was stopped by the time we have available. We really enjoyed this starter walk though. Thanks
