Colonial issues aside, was a fascinating bit of history of a formidable woman. Thanks for sharing this history with us and the fascinating roadside memorial
Out in this part of the world on a Christmas break and was out exploring with juc_cacher and muggle fam. Another detour along a dirt road and some more local history from long time local juc_cacher. Easy find, nice location
A beautiful rose garden in the middle of nowhere...Smells much nicer here than the last location.TFTC

Stopped by to replace this one, as it seems like it’s gone. Recent upgrades the fencing have removed the original and subsequent hing spot. The new cache is no longer inside the compound.
Sadly the original laminated history of the Forlonges has gone with the cache, but the online cache notes are the same text.

No phone coverage so couldn't check previous logs. I wonder, did the last person who logged it as "found elsewhere" return it to its proper coords or simply left it where they found it. Pity. I doubt I'll be back this way ever again to try another search.
A nice memorial spot. The GPS was erratic, so just kept looking & then came up with the goods. Tftc
Such interesting history. I have never heard of this amazing woman and her family until today. Thank you so much for sending me into this area.
Stopped in here today on the way home from Christmas at the farm. The fence has been replaced and the original hide is no more. However, it seems the farmer was aware of the cache and had carefully hidden it nearby. You do not need to enter the private property to access the cache, but you do need to stretch. Access is now from within the memorial area.
Please do not climb on or damage fencing and do not enter the private property.
While I was there, I replaced the original container which was brittle and would soon be leaking and crumbling.
All good...play on !

After an impromptu trip up to Mt Wombat after lunch in Euroa, we decided to drop in here hoping we could give this some love after a few previous DNFs. Had a fairly thorough search of GZ but couldn’t locate any cache.
Sorry I didn’t have anything to leave to help you out as we’re in my wife’s car. Pretty sure this one is gone.
Loved the history lesson in the cache page. It’s remarkable what resilience and determination people had back then!
I hope this cache can be preserved for the info.

Searched through the area at night we turned over log found some wire looked in the memorial and outside of it and we didn’t find it
TFTC juc-cacher. A nice bit if history here...Took a little time to find, but find it we did. Jimmytherat with Noelle04.
Day trip to visit friends decided on a walk & noticed this one on the way home! As a former resident of the area it was nice to revisit some familiar ground. Thanks for the cache, great spot despite been spooked by a large hare who was hiding in the grass next to the cache.
Found this one today whilst out and about caching some very good history here and a reminder that Victoria was settled after Tasmania. So TFTC from the inspectorrexteam
Lovely quiet spot. History interesting. Have been here previously sightseeing. Today I found the cache
Fascinating historical story. Amazing what they went through & achieved.
This is why we love caching.

Every time I come across one of these memorials dedicated to the early pioneers and settlers of this country I'm often rendered speechless - no mean feat I can assure you! Talk about the hardships they endured, fortitude they showed and, in some cases like this one, unbelievable foresight! For certain there's no one around like that anymore - at least not coming into this country from what I've seen and read-about.

Tftc. Found also by Beejules. Out on one of our spontaneous adventures driving around the countryside.
Heading over to Shepparton - this was a big day for us ... we were finally being accredited to be Foster Parents ... we decided what better way to celebrate than to pick up a few caches .. TFTC we love caching over here.
Loved this spot today we were traveling from Shepparton to Alexandra after some appointments thanks for bringing us here some great Aussie bush land and views very very cool

What do you do after a hard day at work[?]
Get muggle partner to drive you and Brodie out to a newly published cache which is only about 60km from home [^]
Mind you I had asked him to bring me 2 Mango Beers from the fridge but he forgot so instead I had to purchase beer from a grog shop on the way out.
4 caches found , 3 beers drunk and some interesting sights seen
For the history lesson alone, this cache was awesome [^]
The monument is cool and so were the two tiny pink dog roses just blooming
Cache was a quick find and an interesting find too as while there had been no online logs since June 2016 there were 4 other names in the log book and someone had taken the PT left by BettyBoo3747
Still by not logging the cache, they have given me over a year of unloved time! [^]

# 10715. What a fabulous day. My friends Harrowang decided to introduce me to the beautiful Strathbogie area so we had a gourmet and scenery day. After a -5 degree start in Beechworth I met them in Wangaratta and we hit the highway. We had late breakfast at the Ruffy Produce Store and late lunch at the Strathbogie General Store. In between I admired the scenery and the greenery and happened to also find a few caches. A top day all round.
Firstly, thanks for re-inventing this cache paying homage to such an interesting lady and property. Harrowang had mentioned this one to me a long time ago so it was great to actually visit this place today. I dropped a pathtag in here but took nothing. Secondly, I think some muggle-type people may have been here and taken the TB that was put in here by the last people to log on-line. There seemed to be other names in the book between The Blind Side and me. That's a shame.
As we were driving away I noticed a gate with Forlong Farm (I think) so it certainly must have been a large property in its heyday. A favourite point from me.
Thanks juc_cacher

Thanks for bringing me back to this site. Haven't been for 30 years when I only live 15kms away! My daughters class has recently been discussing her. What a lady!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The place and the history this cache guided us to were another highlight of our trip. It is amazing to read what is hidden behind the epitaph "Mrs. John Forlonge"!
The memorial itself is lovingly maintained, and the cache is in good nick. Thank you for attracting our attention to this little gem - glad you took it on and are sharing the story.
Fave given for the history.

What a lovely drive to this nice memorial, I really enjoyed this cache, thanks for reissuing this cache!
#1434 The Eliza cottage cache in Euroa gave us so much grief but to our relief this one presented no issues and was found within minutes. A fascinating story and nice memorial, thanks for drawing this to our attention and for the cache juc_cacher.
Ever get that feeling you have been here before A very interesting memorial which is very deserving of a II cache. I was out with the boys for an afternoon caching while goddaughter and muggle mum were at the ballet. A very easy find a few photo's and then back on the road for home... via just a couple more caches...
The drive in to this cache was very scenic and when we arrived, the memorial site was beautifully maintained. It was well worth the trip. TFTC LNTN
Thanks to o.kay for bringing me in this direction to attend the event tomorrow, we were able to get this one en route.
What a magnificent view!
I left a bee trackable here because without bees where would farmers be?

Ms FV has a weekend workshop nearby and on her way today we grabbed a few caches together
before dropping the bike and I off. The thought is to grab the caches from Merton to
Mansfield along the Rail Trail or wait under a shady tree and get picked up much later.
Easy find. What a well kept memorial.

An interesting drive down to this quiet memorial. Located gz in an obvious spot. TFTC
Caching Euora Day - Had not planned on doing this cache today. So glad I did come here. The history is great, and I only found the place due to caching, and what a lovely out of the way location it is. A favourite from me.

Heading on a mission to NE Victoria to learn more about Ned Kelly by attending the "Heroes or Villains" Event and thought Euroa would be a nice base to get started by providing us with an afternoon's geocaching. It was interesting to visit this well maintained memorial as we had seen the Eliza Forlonge cottage earlier in the afternoon. Strange finding a juc_cacher cache so far from the coast.
TNLN . . SL . . Thanks for the hunt juc_cacher.

Enjoyed reading about the history of how this incredible woman and her family brought sheep Thanks to the CO for bringing us to this great spot TFTC
Done on our Mansfield holiday in the company of Ogrebeast. Another of Juc cacher great hides really enjoyed the history in the cache notes and this fascinating monument cache was found easily.
Many thanks to Juc cacher for the hunt!
Many thanks to Juc cacher for the hunt!
I studied woolclassing and worked in the industry but all the glory for Australias sheep industry neglects to mention this farsighted and plucky woman. Thanks for helping to right the record TFTC juc cacher
A great detour off the main roads to pay respect to a very interesting pioneer [^]
The setting of GZ is a beauty.
The cache was found in the logical place and I enjoyed the peace and quiet for a while imagining what it must have been like living here back in the early 1800's and how much effort and determination it took to get sheep shipped from Europe to Oz back then [:o]

Quick find, easily spotted when we pulled up at GZ. Interesting site, thanks for sharing this with us.
A wonderful monument to a cornerstone of Australian History (although she doesn't seem to get much credit - I haven't heard of her before)
Australia was built on the back of the Merino, and we have much to thank Eliza for.
Took TB, Left TB.
TFTC, and the history lesson. A favourite from me.

Found by edmil and maddie, just realised that this was one of 4 caches done on Anzac day that I hadn't logged. We were on our way to explore Strathbogie and the surrounding area when this popped up on our radar. The cache was a quick find. No swap was made, however log was signed and the information sheet was read. Thanks for that information it was something we were not aware off and it made the visit to the site that bit more interesting. Our compass rose geocoin also made a visit. We use this coin to mark caches that a interesting and memorable for us. While we were there we also came what can only describe as a dinky Di Aussie Christmas tree. A gum tree full of white squawking Major Mitchel cockatoos. It was a bit out in the paddock but with the zoom I manage to get a bit closer. Thanks for the cache.
Found cache at GZ near the lovely rose garden memorial. Amazing history of Eliza and very befitting to have this memorial to her. Muggles x 4 found this cache and left their names etc. in the log book but no damage to the cache and it was carefully rehidden by us. A very large fungi was found on the dead tree nearby[^] TFTC juc cacher
Found enroute to Mt. Wombat just on dusk.
And, wouldn't you know it, flat batteries in the GPSr.
Thankfully the cache was easily found just as the GPSr died.
