We ventured out into the rain, rather than lounge around in the caravan watching DVD's.
Our 2nd find, in this series of 3. A clever hide at GZ, worth a favourite point from us.
Many thanks for placing this cache, darth trader, for us and others to find.

Solved puzzle quickly which put us at ground zero. Very cleverly hidden cache, found it just before the rain hit.
Been waiting for this one to come back online. Worth the wait. Great camo. Look forward to doing the rest of this series when time and geokids permit. TNLN TFTC
TFTC!!! Glad to finally have a smiley on my map!! Great cache!! Loved it!! Camo was amazing!! Thanks so much Darth Trader =)
Finally replaced.
Sorry about the wait on this one.
I had some trouble with materials and measurements.
If it goes missing again, an eclipse mint tin would probably be sufficient. But who wants that?

Searched & searched everywhere. Even widened our search but could not come up with it. We touched absolutely everything. We might need to re-check our co-ords.
Messed up the sea level but applied some guessing and found it by accident not that long into searching. Very cute. Lots of ants though.
Really good cache. Loved how unique it was. Did have a few ants making it their home. Found it quicker then first thought. Our GPS had us in the wrong spot to start off with but we quickly corrected our location. Good find
Was expecting it to take a lot longer to find after reading some logs.
So much so I was early for work
I guess that makes me even for the 47 times I was late.
Very nice container!
The log is in perfect condition,
but there are little black ants making a home in it.
I cleared them out as best I could.
(now my hands smell like acetic acid) [:o)]
They are very persistant, so will probably come back.
The lid didn't seem to seal 100%, so try replacing that.
Thanks for the multi!
Looking forward to the final!

Found at 4:08 PM GAFF3. Lovely building and interesting that Les was associated with it. We would have loved to have given this restaurant a try. A restaurant in our town of Port Macquarie has just been given a Chefs Hat and they are over the moon!
We were really not very confident with our calc of the co-ords. To begin with there are a couple of possible dates for the inn and then the elevation question had us really worried as we gathered that we had to use our GPSr to work out the elevation and we know how approximate that can be. Then curiously the calculation for the Longitude uses different wording - "...you need ADD ONLY the digits...". So we pondered on the word "ONLY" for a while until we said - "oh bugger it, plug in the co-ords and see where it takes us" [:o)] So we did and it took us to an interesting location that looked promising, but you know how it is when you are not sure of your co-ords - you half heartedly search
However a half hearted search was all that we needed, as within a few moments the very well concealed cache was discovered [^]
Thanks darth trader.

After coming from Jail, I headed for this cache. I had some coordinates which turned out to be wrong. I CAME BACK and soon enough had the correct coordinates.
I searched up and down everywhere. I then got an unrelated text from another cacher, i asked them where it was and soon enough i had the awesomely disguised cache.

Took us weeks to find this bad boy, very very well camouflaged. Cannot believe it was right under our noses the whole time.
Look in every crannie, very strong "m's". So, so clever.

Lovely warm day today, great enjoyed around maitland, got clues answer , just few mins drive to GZ and clever hide well, thanks....
After some online investigation I went for it and found it straight up. TFTC.
We were on our way north for the weekend to attend the Mid North Coast Event, but were staying overnight at Toriaz's sister's house before heading off early on Friday morning. Toriaz wanted me to do this cache before we arrived at her sisters. I had already found the other cache in the series, previously, so the plan was to do Crypt-X on the way north. I must admit, I had an idea where to look, but the necessity of a torch in the dark, I found, actually made this one easier for me to spot, since I noticed something that was a little different, and therefore out of place. A very well constructed hide. Thanks for this series.
This was a nice little mystery we quickly got the correct coordinates and moved to GZ. After looking around and around something caught my eye and a gentle kick revealed the cache. Thank you darth trader
Very clever and had me stumped! But some superior powers of observation than mine spotted the odd one out ... And the log sheet was signed. Tftc
found while out and about with Team Senz. Another great cache darth. Needs a new log though.
Tftc after working out the coordinates weeks ago. We had to make this a second trip because for training nights. Cache was soon in hand after taking a step back and using symmetry between the 2. Was a bit disappointed to find no log inside to sign but got the required data and will be off to crypt x next time we get a chance. Thanks darth trader
Oops!!!! found this last year and tonight when Toriaz opened the container and withdrew the log I realised that I didn't even look for the log, I was so exited that I had managed to find it on my own and write down the information needed to complete cryptex I didn't give the log a thought.
The data was collected and estimated to some degree The calculations gave us a good deserted location, which was odd on such a beautiful Sunday afternoon. We were widening the search and then coming back to GZ when we had that "Ahah...very clever" moment. Thanks to darthtrader for a really good cache, we enjoyed the puzzle and chase and an excellent hide.

I looked for this one with my partner & sister last year, but we were unable to spot it. My sister came back later by herself & found it. Tonight we were in the region for another cache & she suggested that I should have another look.
And this time it was much easier to spot the thing that looked slightly different to the others. Incredibly well camoflaged, I'm not surprised we had trouble the first time we were here.
I signed the log for 5/5/12, but when I got back to the car I saw that it was past midnight & that I had put the wrong date on the log.
Thanks darth trader, I now have both parts of the clues for cryptex & will look for it on my next Hunter trip.

Out caching with Spikeymikey and amazing how quick these caches are to find second time round when you have the right co-ordinates.....lol.......clever hide I must say.

A day of caching with TheHeadChef.
After having a go at this one a few months back, we tried again with the correct co-ords.
Amazing how much easier that makes it to score a find!!
Although, with the typical DT guile, this is still a cunning hide.

Back the next morning when it was quiet and found it. Very clever hide was close with the location. Now I know where it is out stands out really well I had parked right beside it. The cache had a lot of water in it but log was dry in its container.

Think I have worked out the maths correct bit dodgy with the flood elevation but alas way too many muggles around.
Out on a day of caching with dalsmit and spikeymikey and we miscalculated this one and ended up at the rear of a business and the lady was non-to-happy with us searching. I tried to explain what three men and a teenager were doing and she had heard the story before but was still pissed off.
A day of caching with Dalsmit and TheHeadChef.
A few frayed tempers as we tried the maths for this one. It took us around the back, too close to a business, where we were challenged. TheHeadChef had to talk his way out of it. Obviously the wrong spot.
Regroup, recalculate, and try again another day.

like so many other before I answered the clues and set off for the find only to be thawarted... by a muggle who would just not go away, so I left lest he get suspicious
This one had me scraching my head the first time i looked for the flood level above sea level and I still can't find it but with the other clue and a guess I soon found gz but there were people working on the near by field so off to some other caches and then back for a easy pickup.

Cache check. All good. Everything has been painted here, the cache fits in so well, that the painters have even painted over it.
We made 2 trips here in search of this one. The first was on Saturday afternoon, when we found the answers to the first 2 questions and used a GPS to measure the 3rd. Made the calculations, but weren't too confident in the results. We went looking anyway, but got discouraged by the increasingly heavy rain and our lack of faith in the coordinates we'd worked out.
We returned on Monday, hoping for a better result. We'd checked our coordinates in the meantime & looked up the answer to Q3. But our search was no more successful than our first effort.
Maybe next time, because this one was my goal cache for the day and I'd really like to find it & ultimately cryptX.

Off to Maitland for the day with MV. As we headed to this one MV said the clue to me and we knew where to look.
Reperio at 1310. In Maitland today for some caching, and decided to tackle this series of caches. Stopped by at WP1 to collect the required info, checked out the plotted coords...looked good...so off we went. Once at GZ, we got to searching, and it was only a matter of seconds until we spotted the cache. Very nicely done.

A brilliant start to the series...

Dusted off the caching gear and had a 2nd find for the day.
The little Rats had fun solving the puzzles, then Mrs Rat actually spotted the cleverly concealed container.
A lot of thought, planning and effort has gone in to this one, and I guess the series as a whole.
Good fun, off to find the rest!

woohoo number two found this one by looking around because i think we stuffed up the maths(that blasted elevation) off to get the last one now but another day SL TFTC.
We planned to make this one the first for the day but it ended up being the last. We arrived at GZ in the morning to find the field in use for several continuous cricket games. We had a wander around scouting the location but not searching. We watched proceedings for a while before deciding to abort. On the way back to the car we spied what we thought was the hide. When we returned the area was deserted so the cache was a quick grab. We now have the information to go for cryptex. Well doen on the hide. TFTC Darth. The 1000 is now in our sights. [948]
Our 4798th overall find.
Found this one today on our tour around the area on our way to 4800. We got two our of the three questions and took the GPS on the third. This put us in the right area but after a but of a look around we located the cache. Nice hide!

Cache find 198 on today's run to 200. Some homework during the week proved fruitful and a short search by J, A already knew where it was, turned up the hide and the log was signed. TFTC. Well concealed.
Pretty sure I got the right answers as it put me in a spot that agrees with previous logs.

Team Stevens Finally Found it after days of looking and brains turning to goo. one of the hardest ones we have done, and a great achievement. Thank you Morky70 for your helpful advice. that was an amazing spot to put it and we would of never thought of doing that. good job darth trader.
Found this with TheWobblys and The-Don on a Daft Invader tour of Maitland.
I drive past The Old George and Dragon regularly so I knew the area well.
The first two details are easy as they are on the building.
While there is a sign of the flood peak from 1955 there is no way to obtain the height. Luckliy I grabbed it before I left home. I then used the GPS to give me the elevation at the sign but it wasn't even close.
To ground zero and some head scratching before King Wobbly made the find.
A typical darth trader cache. Well Done darth.

Another great hide Darth. We needed a bit of help from Morgans2320 with the flood elevation. We tried it nine times. Our math skills were not the trouble this time, surprisingly!!! Once at GZ were had to retreat due to too many white muggles. We came back later and Mr Burners made the find quickly. All were very impressed with the booty.
FINALLY!!!!!!!!Found it after about my 5th trip out looking but was working out the coordinates wrong which was leading me to the wrong side of the field, also the elevation had me beat until i found an elevation plotter on my navigator which obviously gave me the correct reading. After a brain snap and a new set of coordinates i ended up going straight to it. After finding a few Darth trader caches in the past, i new to look for the unusual which is what gave me the find. Another gr8 cache ,Your a smart man Darth Trader. SL TFTC and thanks for the challenge .
I have deliberatly created this puzzle with the use of the Longitude and Latitude terms.
Yes, I have trouble remebering which is which as well.
I highly reccomend my favourite book 'Longitude' by Dava Sobel here, as it deals with the historical conundrum of longitude.
You see we always knew Latitude, or parrallels, because they start at the Equator and reduce in a series of shrinking circles to the poles, running east - west.
Longitude loops from the north to the south pole and back again in great circles of the same size, converging at the ends of the earth, running north - south.
It took a carpenter called John Harrison, a self taught clock maker who lived in the 1700s to work out how to navigate ships with this Longitude.
I hope this simple puzzle helps geocachers (myself included) to remember which is which.

We are so close to having 1000 finds that we can almost smell it - so we decided to add a few more caches to our list today. This one took a fair bit of head scratching, confusion, spying and luck before we had it in our hot little hands. We got to the listed co-ordinates [thanks for the tip on this restaurant - we didn't know about it - we will be back to sample it one day soon] and had no trouble finding the first two pieces of information. The third one had us stumped - thinking the elevation would be written on the sign. We used the car navigator to work out the elevation [we don't trust the GPS] and then sat in the car to do our maths - but we weren't sure which was the latitude and which was the longitude. We took a stab at it and went for a walk to find the cache. We got to where the GPS was pointing but didn't think there was anything there - so we went and had lunch before deciding to try again but swapping the latitude and longitude. When we got close and parked the car we noticed two people with a GPS in hand - Kimsy and Dimand - so Marco went and had a chat with them. They weren't having much luck and had similar maths answers to us. Marco came back to the car and we had decided to head off to another cache - when we spotted that Kimsy and Dimand appeared to have found the cache [right where we had searched earlier!]. We waited till they had finished before heading over and conducting our own search and coming up trumps! We copied down the information needed for the final cache before replacing it in its clever hiding place. Thanks Darth Trader!! TNLNSL TFTC
was not sure if the elavation referd to height above sea level or ground level. regardless we found the cache after meeting jumpedin2it. first of three.
Dimand and I set off with a view to completing the whole series. We got to the nice old inn easily, since I knew exactly where you were talking about, and got the required information. The elevation stumped us a bit, but we went with our best guess and walked off to our new coordinates. We were searching around what we thought was GZ when a man approached us. I freaked out thinking we looked too suspicious and were going to have to explain what we were doing, but it turned out it was just Jumpedin2it! We compared our maths and found we had the same thing, and after searching a wider area we found the very clever hide! We snuck it out from under the nose of some cricketers and we had our first set of coords for Crypt-X! Thanks!
I was on my way home from the HAVOC camping weekend and called in to Maccas at Raymond Terrace to fire up the laptop and check for new caches before going home. I found that this and the final crytex cache hade been published and although Chippyroo had already found this cache I decided to grab it before heading home incase the other cache was released soon after.
When I arrived at WP1 there was a car parked out the front and the occupants looked like they were gathering the same infi I was after, I decided to wait for them to move on so I could get the info and catch them at GZ but after I had something to eat and they were still there I decided to go and say hello. The Morgans were struggling with the elevation number and we decide to measure it as it was not written anywhere and with three possible answers we set of the GZ together.
The cache was hiding very well for a while until I widened my search area slightly and spotted this very clever cache. We gathered the required information and chatted for a while before heading home.
Thanks Darth.

Without gd_'s help we would more than likely still be searching well into the night.

Without gd_'s help we would more than likely still be searching well into the night.

Our 8th FTF and our second for the night. We always admire this place but have never gone in. We checked out the menu whilst getting the required info for the GZ and will be back for tea one day! It was actually a quick find and very impressive container! The hardest part was waiting for a rather drunk large group of muggles to get into a car parked near GZ so we could return the cache to its hiding spot. Can't wait for the next cache in the series to be published so we can go for the final prize! We've been looking forward to the cryptex for months! Thank you Darth for another very memorable cache.
