While the terrain rating matches my bash to get in, I feel a little cheated compared to some others Ive done. Great sense of achievement when I found it though!
Stayed here last night absolute cracker of a view and a beautiful sunrise this morning. Time to hit the trails and thank you for bringing us here.️
All good here, what a great view and amazing piece of history. Now onto the next one for the day. TFTC
Out caching and 4wding around Mt Stanley with a mate new to geocaching. Awesome day out, got ourselves into a few sticky situations but managed to get out of them ok!
Finally got to the main event for the day, took in the views for a while before making our way down to the cache. A quick find once at GZ. On the way back up I tripped over a slippery rock few minor battle scars!
Now to head back down Jeep track..
TFTC! FP for this one.

A quick find while on a bush walk today.
This walk is currently one of several offered this weekend on the Annual Victorian Federation Bushwalks hosted by the Warby Walkers, Benalla Bushwalking Club and the Border Bushwalking Club, together with a few borrowed leaders from various other Victorian Clubs.
All the other Victorian Club members are invited to walk on both days in the surrounding iconic bushwalking areas totaling about 24 walks, along with 3 bike rides of 35-60 kms.
There are shared evening meals and events as well.
Todays walk encompassed circle creek and a there and back walk to the Mount Stanley summit. Lunch in the sun up there was an opportunistic time to hunt out the cache.
The views were stunning and the tall iconic peaks could all be recognized and there was plenty of snow too.

Family trip up to Beechworth - walk from Lake Kerferd to town, lunch at the Brewery and then some free time to chase butterflies and get a few caches.
First spot was Mt Stanley - have been up here once before so I knew I could ease the blue road grader up the road. A few butterflies about and great views. This was harder than expected - flushed a Boobook on the way down. Read the hint and scrambled even lower and looked a few times (though where I needed to be was going to end up a T 3.5) but eventually found the cache - all good here.

Out cherry picking at High Grove Farm with Wright_stuff. Whilst in the area thought we may grab a cache and enjoy the view from Mt Stanley.
A slow scramble to gz as I had on my caching Birks. Plenty of rocks to scramble over and lots of dry undergrowth. Cache found by Mrs Wright_stuff in the area Mr Wright_stuff had glanced over.
Back to the top to enjoy the view.
Thanks MV wouldn't of discovered this area if it wasnt for the cache

TFTC awesome views. After a morning of berry picking, this was a great stop to take it all in.
This was an interesting bit of a scramble but it didn't take too long to locate what we were looking for. Note to self; next time pick a day that isn't so hot. Thanks for the cache and bringing us here.
We had looked around quite a bit but no luck. One last look around and realised that we hadn't checked in one place. Guess what we found! Thanks for the cache and bringing us here.
Day two of our Beechworth camping road trip.
A clamber around to find this one, but a relatively quick one.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache, Marcus Vitruvius

Finally found after a lot of poking and prodding and digging through debris! Lucky to have a taller person with me to get into this particular spot. TFtC
We got to the top and took a little while to get to the GZ but a good look around and we found it. Thanks for having a pen in there as we forgot our and was not looking forward to walk back to the car to get one. Now time fir some fun and head down the jeep track.
Went to the top of Mt Stanley to enjoy the weather and a nice view and I saw that there was a cache nearby. Excellent, after a few minutes of figuring where to go and some Bush bashing I arrived at GZ and surveyed the area, trying to figure out whether I was in the right spot. I looked in a few places and came up empty handed. Eventually I decided to climb up into a crevice and spotted the cache, I quickly signed the log and made my way back to the top
Out with OZREG, making the most of a spring day, and trying to grab a few caches, to finish off a challenge I hope to sign off on, next weekend. Despite having a few DNF's, we still enjoyed our afternoon together with a few laughs and found some great hides.
Arrived up here on last light but it was good to be able to wander in and make a quick discovery at GZ. Probably took the long way in but interesting to see all the cleared trees since the fires went through.
I am currently writing detailed logs because of a challenge provided by Project-GC. "The Author" Badge challenges geocachers to average one hundred words or more in each log. As of the start of 2018 my average was only 47 words per log, which seems a long way from the 100 target. Given that I have found so many GC caches, I have to write many logs with well over 100 words for a long period of time to get my average to the target. Apologies to anyone who finds the logs tedious but it is the only way that I can strive to attain this challenge. After over 7000 plus caches (which includes all cache finds up and including yesterday), the average log length is just over 50 words. I am now entertaining the possibility that I might be able to achieve my task before the end of next year. It's surprising how much is has increase since doing this.
Thanks Marcus Vitruvius for placing the cache for us to find and doing the maintenance to keep it in play.

Heading to Morrisset for the Mega we picked up a few caches along the way and this was one of them.
While in the area doing other caches M "T" made the ascend down the hill to the area of GZ. Having read the description I made my way to the front of the tall rocks, and after a detailed search I made the find. Cache and contents are in good condition. Great views from the tower area, but a bit misty in the valley.

Found at 11.20am. We were staying in Stanley, have a look around and came up here for the views, Great views as we wandered around the summit, Now the cache, Carefully picking our way down to a likely looking spot. M decided to stay up top and K went down below. A short time later emerged with the cache.
I don't know what the fire spotter was thinking about our out of the way jaunt.
A quicker trip back to the summit for more views and photography.
Great location - Nice one. During our 2hrs on the summit we saw only 2 motor bikes,

We'll just grab this one too, he says. Won't take long, he says. Ha! Famous last words, I say This was one of those occasions where I wished I'd grabbed the GPSr rather than just relying on using my phone. That little compass needle really did not know where the cache was! Or did the phone not know where we were? In any case, that must be the longest 11m in history. You know when you see there isn't far to go (ooh only 11m, yay) and you keep walking, but 20m later it still says 11m? Then it has a re-think and, well no, the cache is actually 30m away. No, make that 50m. Sorry, my bad, it is 11m away. Oh dear. At least it knew the direction. That stayed constant at least So after putting my phone down for a little while (and making a mental note of its location so we don't have to find the cache AND my phone later) I picked it up again to discover it still indicated the cache was 11m away. In that direction. Well okay then. Clever Monkey suggested I head high and direct him from there and it worked a charm. We finally found it Thanks for the cache!
Out chasing unloved for a competition it was decided that we should grab this cache on the way past. LOL. hmm not exactly a drive by but oh so worth the effort of the walk/scramble. So with my phone almost flat i left it in the car on charge and charged off across the hill being guided by surfergirl as to the direction and distance i need to travel. Well this was great accept those older iphones are not really good at updating on the fly and what was 12 suddenly became 70 metres to go and then 35... Hmm how about you sit there and let it settle and ill go check out these really cool rock formations. Anyway after a while the phone played ball and with guidance from up the slope I narrowed in and found a neat little hide. All the time I remarked to surfergirl that I bet this one's all the way out here because the other STAN cache must be up there. Anyway it's hard enough to find the in rocks with cords so I wasn't going fishing today Thanks for the great entertainment.
Found on a visit to the North East for New Years.
Hot conditions meant it was hard work going around but the caching was great fun.
WOW what views from the top.
The fire tower spotter arrived as we did and we saw him go to his tower.
Cache took a bit to locate.
Thanks for the hide here.

I figured it was time I went and looked for this one. A nice sunny day and I was in the area, I cautiously drive up the bumpy road. Once at the top I discovered I would have to walk down some... alrighty then! At GZ it was a quick find and I added my name to the log book.
Top views up here, I wonder what it's like when there's snow in Stanley?

We drove up here last night in Octo Van Tentacles and spent the night near the summit. Spotted 3 wombats on the way up my first ever in the wild
When I got back to the van I noticed we had a flat tyre, then on the way back to Beechworth the alternator mounting bolt broke , so we spent half the day in Beechworth sorting out OVT.
Thanks for the hunt

Out to see the sights and have a caching day with our caching friends Biggles of OZ and Mrs Biggles. After stopping at Lake Buffalo for lunch we continued on to Beechworth and then to Mount Stanley. A great spot for a cache, and some awesome views. Even though Mr Pooky got a head start on Biggles of OZ who had to change his footwear, Biggles of Oz still made the discovery before the rest of us. Our fifteenth for the day. We then had a cuppa and a snack and just wished someone would answer that damn phone. TFTC and bringing us to this great area, and to quote "The - Castle" - the serenity. Then we headed for home down the jeep track not realising what was in store for us...... definitely need a 4WD, a good driver and it was a bit like a roller coaster.
Drove up here the civilized way (Mt Stanley Road) and then down again via the uncivilized way (Mt Stanley Jeep Track). After climbing though the fence to gain access to the cache area we soon located the cache. (Ignore the radiation warning signs unless you plan on climbing the tower to microwave your sausages or yourself directly in front of a dish which, by the way, I don't recommend). Had some fun going down the Jeep Track but I wouldn't like to try it when it's wet! I'm gonna give it a favourite, not for the cache so much as the Jeep Track escape route which produced some shrieks from the back seat. Always good entertainment value (for me!).

1st attempt we popped a tyre on the car and gave in! 2nd attempt, geodad slipped down a rock face and smashed geomums iPhone! Thank god this one is over!!! Great view TFTC
Great little find, hike down! hike up! Lovely location and in glad there is a cache here!
1773. Traveled across to this one from gc4a3a7, a quick cuppa then I thought a quick stroll to the cache, well Mr Garmin had me first walking in one direction then another ( Mystic powers of the large towers here ) finally I worked the direction right, a road, a forest, a rocky down hill slope- stumble,
6 months since the last Visit, I Finally Nabbed It !! hidden in a good spot the Cache all safe and secure - signed the log 4:15.pm
returned to the Geomobile - hoping to get another and camp the night...

Been waiting for a while to use these acronyms ever since a conversation with MV a little while ago! Love the cache and the serenity! We had a nice picnic at the tables and enjoyed the views. There was a LOT of smoke in the air from a fire a little ways off but still lovely!

Out for a Sunday drive with the the family including the 2 geo dogs that were beside themselves with excitment of the views and smells.
Mrs Yowie and geo son stayed at the top to enjoy the views, while SpyGirl and I took the geo dogs on leads down the rocky slope towards GZ.
Without a clear track to follow we ended up below GZ and had make our way back up the steep slope a short distance to GZ.
At GZ we found the remains of a long time dead rabbit as well the cache, I was able to toss the rabbit away before the dogs noticed.
We signed the log, replaced the cache and made our way backup to the car in a more direct path.

As usual I was rudely awoken by the rising of the sun [:o]
That can only mean one thing !!
A cuppa tea, a bowl of ceral and go find a cache
Mount Stanley was a scant few kilometres from camp, so was the first target of the day
It was an enjoyable drive !!
Last time I drove up here must have been back in '91 and it was snowing [:o]
Today it was all sunshine, lollypops and roses
Well at least it was until I zoomed in on the GPS display and saw that I was not as close to GZ as I had assumed
Time for some exercise !!
About 10 minutes later I had made it to GZ and found the cache in a logical place.
What a great spot to take a seat upon high and listen to the sounds of the birds and take in the view [^]

We saw smoke on the horizon from the Harrietville and MT Hotham bushfires. The only person around today was the person in the fire tower. Found the cache quickly and left TB.
Found on a cold wet day out with Mvyrmnd and Tattboy in and around the area so Mvyrmnd could try to grab his 1000 find which was to be The Letter. The climb up Mt Stanley had been very sloshy and once at the top it was very cold.At first we walked from the wrong side and came back around entering from the bushy other side. The cache was found no problem.A lovely area one I would certainly like to revisit in summer.

I'll apologise in advance for the copied and pasted logs, but I don't think after this long and (almost) successful day I can manage to differentiate each individual cache! Purpledreamer, Tattboy1 and I set of this morning in an effort to log my 1000th cache. We planned to head to Myrtleford, then Yackandandah then over the top of Stanley to Beechworth and eventually Woolshed. After fording streams (more like rivers after the recent rains!) driving though boggy tracks, boggy car parks, boggy picnic areas, climbing hills and rocks, seeing amazing sites and finding some awesome finds and clever containers, I ended up logging 20 caches for the day, logging my most cache types for a day and ending up just one short of my goal - finishing up at 999 finds.
A massive thanks to all of the CO's and to Purpledreamer and Tattboy1 for the company, the extra pairs of eyes and the laughs. Bloody muppets, both of you!
Oh, and before I forget...

No fablous views for us today, the clouds had closed in all around the hill. Nice drive up this side though. Chewin' was regaling us with horror stories of driving up the other way (from the back seat!)
A damp walk to GZ, but a quick find once there.
Thanks, Robmc.

A walk through dripping undergrowth, over wet slippery rocks, with rain and mist obscuring my glasses and we were there. Thank goodness health and safety hasn't yet taken over the caching game or we'd have been banned. Did get to spot the views a little through the mist. Last time I was here I came up the steep side 4wding with one of my sons. We did it a bit easier today despite the wet.
Thanks again Marcus

Well, I have never seen so many beetles on the wattles. The branches were drooping under the weight of them. Will try and ID them. Great the bush is flourishing after the fires and drought. TFTC I never would have met the beetles. Noted Pathtag and left a butterfly fridge magnet. Didn't have a beetle.
Last find for the day bush-bashed through the wattles to find the area where my gps just started jumping all over the place so after a good look around and no easy find i started really thinking where could it be, after some luck i found the container. Over the years ive spent hours rock climbing in this area and coming up here again to find this cache was great fun. Thanks Marcus great cache
# 117. What a lovely spot for views of the snow in all directions and also wonderful views of the valleys. Thankfully I was invited along by Harrowang in their geocaching 4x4 as my poor geoMazda would not have made it. A lovely place but did MV have to make the discovery so damn difficult. Took: Nothing, Left: Cambodian 1000 riel note, and BettyBoo3747 Pathtag.
Finally located this one at 1pm. We invited BettyBoo3747 to come along for the ride up to Mt Stanley with us. As BettyBoo said in her log the views were magnificent today - lots of snow covered peaks - some in shadow and some in sunlight. We almost gave up on looking for the cache as the views kept taking our attention! We have to thank Mr Harrowang for finding this one. He fought his way through all the wattles that have shot up since the drought broke in September last year and finally found a path to follow. He was then kind enough to come back and guide us girls to the hide. Photos were duly taken and a few swaps were added to the swag. TN Left: $100 note keyring. TFTC MV - it was sure worth the visit and a chance to put in some exercise clambering over rocks and through bushland.
This one has been on our to do list for way to long now.....so today was the day to grab this one.
What a neat spot for a cache, Many thanks for the hide and many thanks for showing us this top spot.

Yay, first log for the year - though I see rojentil was there 3 days ago, curses! All dry and safe in the cache - I had to walk a k up the road as a big tree had fallen over it. TFTC. left a few coins - Bolivian, Polish, NZ, US....
First find of the day and we were treated to great view across to the snow. We probally took the hard route and bushed the last 500mtrs down to the gz. A quick find and signed the log for the first time in 2011. More people should get up here as the views are great. TFTC
Found with Nearra and Rojentil. First find of the day over some intersting terrain. TFTC
Found with Guccigal and Rojentil. I am glad this was our first cache for the day. Bit of hiking, bit of moving over large rocks, some pushing through the scrub, nice little downhill slide, bit of a quip from Rojentil about my gait being golem-esque... Just wait until I get the hip replacement. Then we will see who moves the fastest!! TFTC
No joy on this one today.
I wasn't in appropriate footwear because my shoe still doesn't fit after busting my little toe the other week, and i wasnt liking the idea of walking down there in thongs [B)] ...
However, i now know where the other track goes, as i came up the easy way today.

Found in the company of Roostaman while attending the Yackandandah Camp and Cache. We were on our way to Beechworth so decided to detour to the top of the mountain for this one.
As expected it was definitely not a drive by. Just a short walk down hill to find it followed by a long, well it seemed long, walk back up the hill.
Thanks Marcus.

Found with Fred6603 before we head home after the Yackandandah Camp and Cache event weekend. Great drive up & excelelnt views over the treetops. We weren't really planning to head up here, but it was on the way & worth the trek. Thankfully the walking part was not too arduous & we located the cache after a lengthy search. Glad we did too, so now we can cross it off the list and won't have to return to look again. TNLNSL TFTC Marcus Vitruvious,

Found this one today at 1620h. Drove around Stanley scrub for a while.
Gave the new Triton a "Baptism of Fire". Tried to approach the summit of GZ from all the wrong angles. (took wrong road out of Stanley)
Avoid going up Wally's Track and Stanley Jeep Track unless you are confident in 4x4 ability.
Some roads up there have trees across so had to back up 4x4 for 100m till I could turn around.
I would now recommend approaching this cache from " Where's Stan Lee?" via WP. Keep heading up!!!
I would also recommend taking a 4x4 or AWD up there.
Anyway, excellent cache. Gave kids 5min head start but lost without Dad, and they would never have found it.
They were reluctant to see cache even when I had discovered it.
Again excellent cache. Left stickers Took car. SL TFTC

What a fantastic day for a nice drive. It was one these typical Marcus wrong way around caches where you go down to get to the cache site and up to get out, but not so bad guess well get fitter! Great views and nice spot. Does really highlight what damage the fires have done....then to follow up with plenty of rain and winds......trees down everywhere. TNLN SL T4TC
#556 @ 5.35pm. After spending quite a bit more time at the previous cache than anticipated (bumping into fellow cachers its always hard to stop yarning ) we wondered whether we should we continue onto this one at this time of night? The answer was a unanimous "Yep - what the heck!". So off we toddled enjoying the drive & once near GZ it was a little walk down the hill where Dad soon had the cache in hand. We were treated to some spectacular views & some nice sunset shots which we thought we'd share.
Took: GC & Bison Tube
Left: Car & Dice
TFTC MV love the views of this place - have to come back again one day. Cheers.

Was out doing a maintenance run in beechworth so made a detour to the top of the mountain. Of course no view today, much to foggy and misty. Ran around gz for a bit before I had to think like Marcus to find it. Found on a spot I glanced in earlier but looked harder and there it was.
Picked up coruze GC, left 5 bob GC.
SL @ 1320. Cheers

We thought this might be a good spot to leave the Coruze with Lackeys 2009 Geocoin.
Whoop Whoop!!! FTF #14!!!!!
Mrs H was up with sick children when the alert came through just before 2am, so if I'm awake, Big Ez can be too, so of he went in the very chilly & foggy night!!! Swung past & collected Rooster Ez before heading to Mt Stanley!
Got to the carpark and set off to GZ in the freezing cold!! Geez, it's alot harder in the dark!!! Approx. a 20 minute search and Roosta Ez came up trumps! A really great hide Marcus. Thanks for bringing us out here. SL @ 3.20am!!!!!!
We seen a heap of wildlife out tonight......morning, wombats, kangas & a heap of rabbits!! A great spot!!!
Many thanks from Team Haveanez!
