A busy week for our team as we come to the south of town to work on a theatre production with SA Light Opera (oops, a shameless plug, find us on fluffbook!) , but there's always a time for a cache in between things! And here we are at yours...
Have they cleared some? We met some friendly roos amongst the not olive trees. Did see some across the hill. Love the oil, but yes there have even been PhD's done in SA on the Olive as a weed in our locality
tftc Lava12
Team Mattycat with Jack and Sebastbat down south of the big smoke of Adelaide!
---
Caches everywhere up or down are located and logged using some or all of the resources of GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife), Garmin Montana 750i, Montana 680t, Etrex 35, Samsung S20+, Samsung S9, with Geocaching App, c:Geo, or Geooh Go, and Android Auto and other maps... or often with just plain old dumb luck and groping!
*Logs are composed and published using GSAK.*
---
Please do stay safe when caching.
Lookout for mud, snakes, surprise cliffs, wild goats, wombats, bulldust, and lightning,
slippery steps with broken grips, collapsible ladders...
try not to get tetanus from rusty mint tins and don't fall out of trees...
-- -- -- -- -- -- -- but especially lookout for bugs. [xx(]
Make sure Travel Bugs are the only bugs you share and pass on
We really appreciate all those placing quality caches out and about around the countryside,
it keeps our game safe, fun, and interesting

A special day for me today - this marks two years of geocaching! I’ve also just returned from an epic vehicle relocation from Perth to Adelaide - my first crossing of the Nullarbor, an awesome adventure and lots of great caches too.
I’ve just dropped the van off to an address here in Flagstaff Hill, and as luck would have it, there are three Lava12 caches nearby waiting to be found. All with the usual great coordinates, well maintained, quick finds and awesome views.
Thanks so much Lava12.

Thanks for another cache Lava. Looks like it had been recently muggles with the ziplock containing the log sitting outside the container nearby. Fortunately everything was watertight and in good condition. Signed and reassembled. TFTC
Adelaide Trip Day 5. After a family lunch at my parents, I headed further down south to my sisters place at Seaford. Along the way I tried out some of the new overpasses at Darlington Road, Sturt Road and Ayliffes Road. Another short detour up Flagstaff hill to this spot was first and a nice cache, but no olives today.
Thanks.

I had mountain biked with a few friends around O'Halloran Hill, and I really wanted to grab a cache find there. However, the targeted cache required a solid descent and ride uphill, so I left it for another day. After cleaning up my bike and dropping off a friend, I had a rest and then returned down south for a geocaching session. Driving around and geocaching solo is always an unmotivating prospect, and despite my best-laid plans at geocaching the area, my momentum soon ran out, and after finding a cluster of geocaches around Happy Valley, I called it a day.
This was my first geocache find for the day, and I had been along this road a few times in the past week. I decided to make the stop here now to clear it, and it turned out to be a quick find. The geocache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks Lava12 for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

Cache #2318. Fifth of six caches found today.
This morning, I went to Flagstaff Hill for business, and tried some caches over there. Lucky, I found all six caches I tried.
Parked on the road, and walked to the GZ. Easy find.
Took nothing, left nothing. Signed the log book. TBs visited.

Found while over the other side of town looking for my usual traditionals.
Must have ended up in Lava12 territory as well over half the caches were by her, sorry about the template logs.
Last for the day, happy with 28 smilies and only 1 DNF.
Thanks for the cache Lava12

A quick park and grab. Spotted very easily on the approach to gz.
On the way up to blackwood this afternoon to do some baby sitting for some family friends, since I had a few hours spare in the afternoon I decided I would go somewhere different and collect a few caches. Decided to go up around flagstaff hill and surrounds. All together 13 finds for the day with 2 DNFs along the way.
All the caches that we’re found were in good condition.
Thanks to the cache owners for their placements

Came to look for this a few weeks ago and 3 council workers with whipper snippers were trimming the grass so couldn't get close. Back tonight with squeak11 for a quick find and no long grass in sight. TFTC Lava12
I stopped to park and a neighbour glared at me as she backed out of the driveway. so I did a lap of the block, parked in the same spot, and found the cache in less time than it took to do the loop. Quick and fun find. I thought it was the tennis ball at first.
Oh what a surprise to get another Lava12 cache on the way back home, so this is officially the last one for today's geocaching.
easy one with a old tennis ball next to it, interesting. TFTC

Most olive trees in the north are considered a pest and there's been an eradication program in place for many years [xx(].
Obviously the thinking is different down here .

Thanks for one more Lava12. Our last for the day [)].

Today we head out with earhlight to do a days caching, something we haven't done for a while, going back many moons ago i was part of a group of unemployed people that wiped out the olive trees through the tea tree gully area under a government program, it was a way of getting the unemployed skills using chainsaws, mulchers etc at the same time ridding all the feral olive trees. Stopped past here to knock another lava cache off. Found in the darkness after being at FMC.

I had noticed last week that I was approaching another Milestone find number - what to get - I like to find something interesting or meaningful for my milestones. A look through GSAK and playing around with some macros I found I was on 99 Lava12 finds. Well, that makes it an easy choice. My milestone can be two milestones in one. After spending almost a week avoiding Lava12 caches while pumping my numbers slowly forward to the bug number, I was getting close. This morning, being set back by a bout of four in my knee, I thought I'd try for a few quick grabs after dropping the group-son to school. A bad decision that was as the agony started setting in part way through a couple of quick finds to make up the required last few numbers. But soldier on I did. OK - up to 799 - I know where to find an easy one (that I had visited before but not logged) and off I drove. The bit of rest in the car made the knee feel a bit better for the small still down the hill where I signed the log. Yay, my **100** Lava12 cache for my **800** milestone. Thanks for all the hides Lava12.

Veni. Vidi. Vici. Scripsi. Passing through and this one popped up on the radar. Stopped to find the cache. Quick find log signed and replaced. Gratias pro cache.
Went for a cheeky spot of night caching after work to get the caching day badge. Will come back and fill the log as blue pencil wasn't much chop. TFTC
It may be a cold and wet day, but it's always a good day when you get a smiley for another Lava12 cache
