Found the bucket, didn't find the cache, but I think it could still be there. It was hard to search what with it being so busy up here today. But the views were epic!
Day 14 on our holiday in New Zealand. Today we are in the area and surrounding area of Whitianga. We also visited this tradi, found it, and signed the logbook.

This was to be the last cache of the day. But the search turned out to be difficult. But *Filser1* and I didn't let up and were successful in the end.

Even though it's a showery day, there were lots of muggles appearing when I was about to pick up cache, finally the coast was clear and a quick cache pickup, log signing and placing cache back as found. I also had an encounter with a walking stick insect. It attached itself to my hair then fall off in the car, I placed it on a nearby tree. I haven't seen one of those insects for many years. Gave a favorite for cache placement and the walking insect. Cheers
Exactly 253 years since Cook viewed the transit. Left transistor and a sun candle to celebrate. TFTC
Very nice area here with super views over the bays. Thanks for bringing me to this nice place.
Not too difficult to spot the hint as not many options around. Our daughter was with us today, and was brushing up on her tree identifying skills. She gave us the correct name for this one but I can't remember it. I'm more in line with the hint
Stunning views from here today.

After taking the ferry from Whitianga across the harbour, we made our way towards Cooks beach on foot exploring along the way. It was a stunning warm and sunny Winters day and we were rewarded with stunning views from the lookout (which we had all to ourselves). Quick find of the cache here. TFTC
Nice quick find here as per the hint, log would have been signed as wex but as our pen had died, we have taken a photo as proof of our visit.
Found with xsaveya and emiliyah

Found - Mrs McMike2012 & I now live full-time in our caravan & travel the country visiting places we want to visit … we are now parked up in Whitianga for the next few days … we took the ferry across to the other side of the harbour & then went for a walk … thought it would be rude to not to check out a couple of caches while out & about … interesting reading up all about the background to this cache … gets a favourite point from us … this one was an easy find, completed the log & replaced it … pleased to add another 'smiley face' to the tally … TFTC ... TN:LN:SL ... #2,784 for us.
Loving the history here. Sitting in the sun, eating our lunch and enjoying the amazing views. Cache is all good. TFTC
High muggle point. Had to wait for a quiet spot to search and to replace. Found with Reny90
Seeing that I was staying at Cooks Beach for a few days I decided to go for a walk around Shakespeare Cliff.
A nice view from here along with some interesting reading.
Cheers for the cache.

Another quick find with the kids. Thanks for the info on the cache page. Amazing what the early scientists were able to work out using stars and planets and basic equipment! Thanks for the astronomical cache!
difficulty needs to be lower and t difficulty needs to be raised cuz of prickles and small hike tftc found during mop up geocaching adventure at cooks beach with vortexfinder
Found it! Further away than I originally thought. Luckily I could borrow a pen from a muggle!
Making an expedition to Lonely Bay, so stopped here first to check out the view. Great spot for a cache. Easily found. TFTC.
A viewpoint beckoned on the way past and a quick drive had us at the top car park. Up to enjoy the scenery then a trip into the bush, and around, chasing this cache. Found it a distance away from GZ, away from the hinted plant so put it back as per the hint and coordinates. Nice area this.
Day 3 of our Coromandel visit and our last full day prior to heading back towards home tomorrow. We headed out nice and early this morning with a long-winded route to the TMGTs at Whiti the city and some more great scenery. Intent was to return via 309 kauri, but that got shelved and just picked a few off at each end instead.
Our last visit to the Coromandel was over 12 years ago so it was good to be back in the area after all of that time. We had spent Christmas away in Northland, and a quiet New Year at home before a 4 day/3 night stay in Coromandel town. We explored up the West of the peninsula up to Fletchers Camp, through the middle and across to the East coast of Whitianga and Whangamata, before heading back home 'via' Waihi Beach, where sadly that lady was killed by a shark whilst swimming, RIP. We found all available TMGT options, a few Earthcaches and saw some great sites and sights. Thanks to all COs for their caches here. We didn't do nearly as many as the Seagnoid and TB dragon whose steps we followed in on some days.

Checked every 5 and 7 finger plant. No luck.
Taybeedragon and I went on a tour of the Coromandel - one of the few places of New Zealand, especially of Te ika a Maui, that I have yet to explore throughly, and from there along the coast to Opotiki to see one of my many, many sisters. From 18 December to 5 January we found over 400 caches, including 12 adventure labs (60 caches), 20 or so TMGTs and a host of virtuals and earthcaches. And I hosted an event to see the sun come up on New Year's day - surprisingly popular given that it was at 5am. We climbed a lot of hills, saw some amazing beaches that were quite popular despite (or because of) the insane access to them, walk a lot of bush, entered and explored 8 gold mines and generally had an awesome time. However I am glad to be back, but now is the hard part, and I fear it will take just as long - logging!

A lot happens in 10 years (That's when I signed it)......couldn't remember where this was, so it was a DNF for Godfreyh, first time up here, but alas, an extra pair of eyes and Kittycat432 had it in hand, so they both signed it. Show a muggler who is interested, but he hasn't signed log, but this will be his second cache.
Went back again with Kittycat 432, and she quickly found it.

Plenty of muggles, so did not stay too long looking.

Out with grandpa (Godfreyh) and a couple of muggles from the UK, along with dad who already had this under his belt........ and couldn't remember where it was as he logged 10 years ago. Followed hint and BINGO , after grandpa had failed with dad a couple of days earlier, I had it my hand in seconds. SL TNLN TFTC. Showed muggles what we were doing. Hope they might join this hobby.
Found about 6m from where the co ords took me. Same side. I did have to step in and around. Tftc
How appropriate for my 6000th cache to be at this magnificent place commemorating those two great navigators, firstly Kupe the original Polynesian discovery of Aotearoa, and secondly James Cook who named it New Zealand. A most amazing place, full of history, well worthy of a favourite point. I have to say finding it was tricky because of the volume of muggles and a slightly tricky hide, and it was even more difficult finding a window opportunity to replace it!
We left our bag and picnic a few hundred metres away so we could walk encumbered to this one. Very muggly indeed!! But at the risk of looking shifty, Antnich succeeded in replacing it quickly once signed. Have an FP for this tremendous location. TFTC
Had a swim at lonely Bay so came around past the Shakespeare cliffs on the way home. Found on approach. Obvious for geocachers but not so obvious for non geocachers.

This was a disappointing DNF. Whole family out looking but no luck. Going to return in the next couple of days for a smiley face.
After initially looking at the wrong five fingers we expanded our search and spotted it quickly.
Some muggles walked right past us while we were signing the log but fortunately didn't seem to notice our activities.
Fantastic view from up here. TFTC.

We came to Cooks Beach to check out the views are were not disappointed when we found this great spot. Cache took a couple of minutes of searching to find. When I have more time I'd like to explore more of this area looks like there are some great walks around here.
What a great lookout. We stayed nearby but drove up anyway, hiked enough today. Awesome history here.
Found it while in Coromandel with Aiden29 to complete There 'n Back trail between Tapu and Coroglen. We did 400km today.
Thanks for bringing us here!
What a spot!

Had plans with Tramyard to head back to the Coromandel, this time to complete the There 'n Back trail between Tapu and Coroglen. It was an early morning start, leaving home at just after 5am to get coffee on the way to meet tramyard. A very successful day, with 65 caches found before arriving home exhausted at 11pm.
We were intending to head to Cook's Beach but we had taken a wrong turn at Coroglen and didn't realise until we were about 5km from Whitianga. Decided to continue on anyway and find the 4 new Geotour caches in the area and grab some lunch. Finally made our way to our original destination. Headed to start at the Ferry landing and make our way back towards Cook's Beach.
Amazed at the history of this location - I had no idea. Spent some time taking pictures of the amazing view and bumped into a couple who had ridden their electric bikes up here. While they were distracted I quickly located the cache.

Easily seen from the sidewalk. Thank you very much for this cache.

Found on a beautiful sunny walk up to the top on the hill. Stunning views. Cache found after a quick search. TFTC
Today is our third day on our way to the south island and our first day at the Coromandel Peninsula. Having spent the night at Coromandel Town we are now heading towards Cathedral cove, stopping at few lookouts and beaches on the way. After arriving at the carpark at the start of the track to the cove we made our way along the well paved track up a hill down a hill and up another before decending to the cove via a lot of steps. Once on the beach we enjoyed a pleasant walk to the other end through the arche. After returning to the carpark and picking up another cache we drove to this reserve to watch the sunset. This was my last find for today and another quick one. Tftc
great views and good to actually get to this important place in nz history. tftc left new waterproof replacement log sheet as previous log full.
Out for another caching mission with Cats&Dragons today, with the goal to focus on caches along the Eastern side of the Coromandel Peninsula, starting in Whitianga and working our way down to Whangamata. A early start from Hamilton saw us pulling up to the first cache just after 5am, with the last cache for the day found a little before 3pm.
We got lucky with the weather with only a few showers throughout the day, and I successfully found 46 caches throughout the day, with only 3 DNF's. A very enjoyable day in a truly spectacular place. A big thanks to all the CO's who placed the caches we found.
Been here a few times, what a awesome spot!! We had the place to ourselves so made the find without issues.

Amazing view of the bay and the surrounds from here. Picked up trackable tftc
I lived in Cooks beach several months during my Working holidays. Shakespeare cliff is one of my favourite place in Coromandel. I always enjoyed the walk up there. The view is spectacular.
