2nd part of nearby cache with other part of this story. TFTC. Tricky hide but we DoD stick it out.
My grandad and I found this cache while spending a few days in Port Lincoln with some old friends - I was on my learners and drove all the way from Canberra to Port Lincoln! A great road trip to improve my driving skills and experience.
Walked up here from the previous cache and made a quick find. Unusual hide though, no container at all. Interesting history nonetheless. TFTC!

Off the good ship Sun Princess with m4yb and enjoying some nice time around the Yarra before meeting my boys for lunch.
No luck here but nice walk anyway. Pity there is not a bit mare "Geo Love" in this town, some lovely spots and great history sadly not looked after. Anyway we enjoyed our time here.

Hi there Muffy and Co.
We found your cache **"Hawson Square"** at 11:43:00 AM today. This cache makes our find count 13749.
We thoroughly enjoyed our trip around the area. We usually start the day off by nominating a cache some distance away from our camp site and then take a route mainly determined by the next closest cache according to our GPS. Today we started in Port Lincoln and ended up finding 10 & DNFing 3.
**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found the cache around 2m from where the GPS said we should be looking.
**Cache Condition:** There is no container, but the log sheet is in good shape.
**Took:** Nothing.
**Left:** Nothing.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards
Ian & Penny.

Staying in Tumby Bay for a few days we set off finding the caches around here cleaning up a lot of unfounds from previous trips, that is just pure evil, luckily we now have this one of our list. TFTC
Found at 11:21 AM GAFF5 in the company of maccamob.
A tricky hide and luckily we were able to glean some information from previous logs. Not the best way of hiding a cache of this type - you really need to protect the log sheet.
We were at the site if the actual spearing a few days ago when doing one of wheres wolly caches. Just 12 yo and out there looking after himself!
Thanks Muffy and Co.

Searched everywhere to no avail but we "decided to stick with it" and finally Cache in hand.
Great hide, log could do with replacement.

Quick but very sneaky hide log may need to be changed though, has been slightly damp in past by the looks of it
Thanks for bringing us to this spot. It gets a FAV from us for a VERY good sneaky hide. TRICKY TFTC
A fascinating little memorial
The inscription upon makes for interesting reading !!
But try, try, try as I might .... I couldn't find this cache
Thanks for the visit to this hidden historical gem [^]

Had read about the incident that led to this boy's death at another cache earlier today.
Can't say we've ever seen a hide like this before!!!!! The log was a bit sad but dry and signable.
Thanks.

An easy find but as others have done, we left the log as is as it would likely be destroyed by removing it. Thanks for bringing us to this location and highlighting the significance of the Hawson name. TFTC
Wouldn't have found this without a tip off from a local - hence the DNF two days ago. Cache has deteriorated badly; there is nothing to keep the log dry so it is a crumpling bit of redried notepad. Great idea for a cache though. Thanks for showcasing this little hideaway.
was away for the weekend, what else is there to do but shout out to the locals and go a caching
with so many eyes we couldnt find this one, but will come back soon to try again
apolagies for the late log, have been busy on the farm and with life

We were all tricked by this one. Five sets of eyes but we walked away with a DNF. Interesting little park and monument. A good example of the things you would never see but for geocaching.

This is the logical next step after Hawson's Grave. The lad must have been well loved. The geo-hubby dismissed the cache container while the geo-wife thought there was something odd here. Found it TFTC
so creative and a good challenge was had today with as many dnf's as found, especially a lot of time finding was so much fun tftcsl

Found with jiddybang. Tick this one off the list, returned many times looking for this one. The final time my gps was spot on to its location.
This was our second attempt at this cache
Just by chance spotted something a little bit unusual
Checked it out and tipped upside down -yes it was the cache
Could not retrieve log sheet even using tool and did not continue as may have broken the cache
Left a piece of paper with log on it and placed in cache then replaced protective cover
Muffy and Co may need to go check on this one
took our trackbles for a visit

An interesting grave inscription. "Hero?" what the?
Cache is very nearly gone. Needs maintenance.

desperately needs maintenance. Log unable to be unrolled and signed. Unsure where it was originally hidden, but found on ground.
After a lot of looking and some online help from 5grains youngest geocacher finally found it. TNLN, TFTC
Much consternation and a last try revealed the hide. The bag needs replacing as the first rain will ruin the log. TFTC
What an interesting story and memorial. Would never have known this was here if not for the cache. Tried this earlier today without any success, but came back this afternoon and after a very long time searching, found the cache. Have never seen a hide like this before. Read in a previous log that they had seen it from the car - I'm not sure how they could have done. Log was crusty from being previously wet but managed to unroll and sign. Rewrapped in leftover plastic as best as could. TFTC
In town for work with only time for a couple of quick cache finds
Interesting spot and well worth the visit
Thanks for bringing me here
Cache was "found" but note book/roll (??) was damp and crusty from recent rain and the plastic bag is worn out really Needs some owner attention as I didnt have any replacements with me
PS Bowz2 hates Nano's and Micro's!! They are the Spawn of satan and should be burned!
TFTC!

What an interesting monument. I doubt that the wording would be quite the same in this day and age I lived in Port Lincoln for a couple of years way back but never knew this was here. That's what we love about geocaching - finding those 'hidden treasures'. [^] A favourite point for this one. Thanks.
Found on our WA to South Australia camper trailer trip and cache hunt
Many thanks for the cache

We are staying in the Lincoln National Park for a week doing some 4WDing and caching today on the 'rest day'.
Quick grab on our afternoon run - it always amazes what is around the place. TFTC.

Found during a trip to Port Lincloln in the school holidays. Very tricky hide, but got there in the end. Thanks for the cache Muffy & Co!
Interesting about history - worth to visit. TRUST GPSr and found it and signed the log. Thanks Muffy and Co.
Too good for me! Swinging GPS had me searching all over but with no success. Boo hoo. I am unlikely to ever go back and would love to know its location.
Logged from my phone using the Geocache Navigator by Trimble. Going for a personal record today no 22.
TFTC. A clever little hide, but the log is quite damp. Very difficult to sign the wet log but we managed ok.
Geo hubby found this sneaky hide. Did not sign log as it was wet and to touch it would have fallen apart.
I love a cache with history.
Thank you for bringing me to this one.
Stand out for the night

Very clever cache, lots of bird life spotted, place a bit over grown but interesting TFTHSL>
Well while we were on a roll knocking off our Pt Lincoln DNF's we decided to have yet another go at this one. Geo Mum must have had her eye in today as she out did the kids. A very clever camo.

Wow this is a hard cache, we cheated and phoned a friend for this one.
Such a good camo, it really is hard to pick it out.
Nice work and without help way to hard for us today.
Still glad we found it either way.

A very interesting hide to match a very interesting cache. This young boy must have been someone very special to warrant having his body resumed and reburied some 71 years after his death. I noted they said "speared by blacks" - that wouldnt be socially acceptable today. LOL
thanks for showing us this site.
thanks for showing us this site.
Found on a mixed bag of a day caching in Port Lincoln. Thanks to Muffy and Co for the cache. A very good hide which was found after a couple of minutes.
Excellent hide Muffy and Co. Sad story. We adjourned to the grave site just up the road. Now that was an even sadder story. See that cache. Clear skies!
Brilliant hide. and a sad cache. also a nice setting. Well done. We enjoyed this cache a lot.
Found by Mary & David at 1330. So pleased that you finished the story for us. The monument says he was only 10 years old. Perhaps he was looking after sheep? Some lovely flowering shrubs here. The container had us fooled for a little while - quite unusual. Our thanks again to Muffy and Co.
Searched for ages with no luck. Not having much success with micros in Lincoln today. Kids are not happy about it either!!!!
TFTC HAVE BEEN TO THIS ONE SEVERAL TIMES. IN THE RIGHT SPOT BUT NEEDED HELP FROM PASTAMUNCHERS
