Some great history here, thanks for your hard work in providing this historic info. Such a shame about the disturbance and ignorant use of heritage significance.
Walked in, found what we were looking in good condition. Stamped log and replaced. Thanks to CO
TFTC,Our last chance to Cache before heading away. Thanks to all for the variety we have experienced during our stay. Visited trackables.
Nice find with woolwood9 today. Day 3 of our 9 days in and around Darwin. SL *tm/ww NZ* *Thanks for the reason to visit the area!* Good quick walk up for the cache!
Headed over to Darwin for a break with tmann421.Really enjoying the weather and the challenges of the hides.Logs signed tm/ww NZNice quick find here after a short walk through the bushThanks for the cache owners for their efforts
On Our travels we were staying at crab claw and went for a drive to Wagait Beach on our way out I remembered to do my off line list and grabbed this cache on the way out thankfully we drove up the service lane which made our walk much shorter, we found the cache in excellent condition, thanks for placing it
Travelling with richlink on a trip from Perth to Darwin and return down the centre. Today, we are riding Route34 looking for scenery, history, and geocaches. Thanks JWstorming.
In Darwin with iluvtrekking for a revisit after eleven years. Beautiful weather and a great day to be out caching. Headed to the Cox Peninsula to do the Route 34 series and others along the way. Thanks for the hide
Found at 11:08:00 AM(t) GAFF1.
A tricky spot to park with the van, but we managed to do it safely. A bit of a walk up the hill and all we could do was imagine - why here? Why set up a platoon harbour right here?
It was a 170 metre walk and then - don't head for any structure, because the cache is in no-man's land and thankfully the grass was not too high to obscure the little pile of rocks [:X]
Thanks JWstorming.

Spotted by accident as we had car trouble going somewhere else and had to pull over. And there was cache nearby, lol. A good bit of fun and connection to the past. TFTC

Went fro a last geocaching drive while still in Darwin, I found this one while on the way. TFTC.
Woohoo!! Better luck second time round. Was getting dark our first time here and the long grass wasn’t helping. Gave ourselves a bit more time and found it. Great cache, some super treasures and left one of our own. We did it Ladybugette!!!!!

We found this Cache in our first australian holliday. Thank you for the Cache and greatings from germany, YaTaDi.
Went for a drive out to Dundee Beach today for a look around. Saw this lovely big cache sitting way out here so thought we’d drop by for a visit. Left a pathtag here for someone to collect.
Amazing how many remnants of WW2 remain in the Northern Territory. On our way for a few days out at Dundee today, and drove straight past. Stopped and made a quick find of a nice big container. TFTC
The geohubby has gone south for the grandbaby's first birthday, leaving me to my own devices. The perfect opportunity to attack the cache's along the Cox Peninsula Rd. I made a meal of this cache - overshooting the perfect parking spot and had to go quite a long way before I could legally do a u-turn, then I wandered straight past the cache because I was thinking about siting defences and trying to work out what the most likely direction of enemy approach would have been. Great location - a recent fire meant the area was quite clear and so it was easy to see the layout on the ground. thanks for bringing me here.
Today we really excelled ourselves in distance travelled, lol! Moved from Batchelor to Tumbling Waters as we continue our meandering across northern Australia after attending the Red Centre Experience over Easter. After setting up camp, we headed out to grab caches both towards the east that we didn't do on the way in as we tow rather a large van, and to the west so that tomorrow is a feasible day for us as we don't get big numbers in a day.
This was find #8. Drove out here then cached our way back into Tumbling Waters after having found most of the caches to the east. I walked right past this one without seeing it, but as I turned back towards the car there it was! Stamped log and replaced it. Thanks for the history lesson.

After a few days at Dundee with a non caching friend having way too much fun we decided to take the long way back to Darwin thought Litchfield and see what we could find.
We have really enjoyed our visit this year catching up with a lot of the WW2 history that would otherwise go unnoticed. We were going to look for this one on the way out to Dundee, double lines spoiled our plans so we grabbed it on the way back and driving a lot closer to gz than we thought that we would be able to made it even better. We didn't see any remnants of a gun en placement but we did find a good sized military container and are happy to say that our name is now in the log.
Thanks JWstormoing for the cache and for bringing us here.

Today we had a big day of caching along the Cox Peninsula Road into Mandorah and beyond. This was our 28th and final cache of the day.
The cache was found after a quick walk through the bush in between showers of rain.
Thank you for bringing us to this historic location.

Found it!!! Out and about with my GF Kym's Adventure we planned to do A big cache run today and headed out to do the Cox Peninsula Road collection including the Mandorah region. We could have had them all done but car troubles made us come up short!
Number 24 for our cache run day finding a parking spot was the challenge here with no 4x4 TFTC

Today's mission is to cache the Cox Peninsular Road. BF DeFCoN_6 & I departed @ 6:20am to make a day of it, we are now at cache # 25. We started at Mandorah and are caching back towards Darwin. A bit tricky with parking. We drove past GZ and had to make a U turn, park 250mtrs from GZ & make it on foot. DeFCoN_6 was determined to find this one, and so he did - scores are even once again! Took nothing left grey & white bracelet
Today we explored Cox Peninsula and surrounds using geocaching as a guide. Nearly a drive by.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

Great little trek up the hill to find this one. Did this with a load of others a couple of days ago. Just logging them now. This one comes up to my 700th cache. Yay!!!
Another cache that represents what we love about caching. An interesting spot full of history that we would never have known about if not for the cache. Lucky for us a fire had been through and we could see the remains of the rocks clearly. TFTC.
Back on the road and heading to Mandorah for the day.
Due to recent bush fires, this was a nice easy find.
Thanks for the cache, JWstorming.

It is amazing how much military history I have encountered on this years geocaching trip around the Top End
I have certainly seen and learnt a lot !!
Even out here there was more to find
Shame that the power pole destroyed most of the evidence
But the depression and the shape of the Platoon Harbour is still evident after a fire has been through

This was our 14th cache find in the caching run & we found it at 13:39
So this now makes our total find count 6837.

We've been to Darwin before, but have never headed out this way. We spent a really enjoyable day on the Cox Peninsula today, and found a variety of caches.
Thanks for placing a large cache. After finding over 6837 caches it is really sad to note that the trend of placing small caches (without swaps) is increasing. While nanos and eclipse tins have their place in an urban environment these, along with 200ml Sistemas, seem to be the norm these days even out in bush areas. It made us feel really glad to find a large, kid friendly cache here.
[/blue]
Coordinate Accuracy: Excellent (Around 2 metres).
Cache Condition: Container and log book are in good shape.
Took: Nothing.
Left: Hair Ties.
Thanks JWstorming for the hunt today.

Last find for the day. No harbouring any doubts on where this cache would be after the recent fire cleared the earea.

Another Interesting piece of history ... Soon had cache in hand and got back to the car just before a wet season down pour! Thanks JWStorming 4TC
Found as a part of Team SaintsMadHouse and now that the kids have grown we each have our own accounts to finddd geocaches with separately wherever we go!Very interesting position. Knowing about Platoon harbours from friends it was interesting to walk through the variety of posts. Another on my WW2 geo weekend.

Nice easy find... but even with a recent fire, it was hard to see all the interesting stuff. Nice touch - an ammo box in a gun emplacement.
Note to self: when the area has recently been burned off, do NOT go caching in light coloured shorts!
Thanks JWStorming.

Last find of the day. Spot on, accurate location. Really enjoyed the history of the area, having lived up here for so long, and didn't know this area was used in WW2. Really appreciated the tribute cache to WW2 efforts. Took MikeR's Geolicious - Mountain Cache Geocoin Copy and will relocate it in the very near future. A great end to the geocaching day out - Thank you for the great experience.
WanderingAus wandered by on day 51 of our annual Climatic Refugee trip, after the WanderingMrs (aka SWMBO) suggested we take a drive out to Mandorah so I could find some of the caches along the Cox Peninsula Road.
We missed this one on the way out, so it became the last hunt for the day on the way back. The WanderingMrs drove past, then did a U-turn to park on the cache side of the road. After an easy walk following the arrow I spotted an obvious hide from about 20 metres away and made an extremely quick and easy GAFF 0 find.
As a former infantryman all I can say is "JWstorming you have failed Camouflage and Concealment". Having entered into many Platoon Harbours in my time in The Mighty Seventh of Foot (The Pig Battalion, AKA 7 RAR), we always aimed to be totally unobservable from all directions, including overhead. Oh and by the way, a Full Platoon under the Pentropic Establishment is 33, comprising Platoon Commander, Platoon Sergeant, Batman/Signaller, and 3 ten man sections.
My find No 3749, LCC, TNLNSL, grabbed Captain Harry J. Hardcore (ref = TB279QK), dropped my WanderingAus Happy New Year 2008 Gold GC and my WanderingAus GeoMobile TB in for a visit before grabbing them back again.
I didn't see MikeR's Geolicious - Mountain Cache Geocoin Copy (ref = TB1JRC5) in the cache and suspect it is now gone for good - time to mark it as missing.

After sending Mcrunbecks to find japanese soldiers that didn't know the war was over, and some lost tribes, have had the correct coords listed. Have a coldy waiting.
had to contact JWSTORMING to find out the correct GZ after driving around a very big paddock in the middle of nowhere.
had to drive the 3km back along the non existant track, thank god I have a 4WD.
got the correct co-ords and off I went, another 10km of driving, up the embankment and almost drove over the cache
picked up the first aid kit and the lures left the rest of the goodies for the next person to find (if ever)
left three travel bugs to make finding it more enticing
