Time to put this one to bed. Maybe someone else will decide to hide something in this historically significant location.
Many thanks to Hoojar for keeping this cache running for 4 years since I left.
Much appreciated!

After searching for about half an hour we had to leave this lovely place. Using the phone just wasn't good enough.
TFTC Thank you for going to the effort of hiding this cache. You have shown us a new place and have helped make geocaching an enjoyable activity. Log too wet.

Another great cache on Mandalf and my little raid of the South today. TFTC Hoojar! Everything in good order down at GZ aside from some rubbish - seriously, litterers are the worst!
This was fun. The paths to the cache are really overgrown and the picnic table near GZ is smashed to bits, but I think all this made the trek to the cache a lot more fun. TFTC
Nice spot - good to have an opportunity to explore the military history of the area. The container was in good order but the log is very wet and I couldn't sign it. See photo. Thanks for bringing me to this spot.
Find Number 719, found at 13:38
The main focus of today was the event to celebrate J&J's 10,000 cache finds. As a sideline, I decided to try and beat my previous personal best of 10 different D/T combinations in a day. So, armed with a list of caches with unique D/T combinations, I set off. At the event I was joined by GeoSon NationalSteel who had found almost all of my target caches. He was able to advise which ones to tackle and which to leave for another day.
My 9th find and 8th D/T combination. As I arrived at GZ I looked over the top of the wall and saw the bottom half of a sistema container open in the middle of the area. We found the zip-loc bag containing the logbook nearby and the lid of the container where NS had previously found the cache. The bag was open and the log book completely sodden. We didn't have any replacement log books with us, having left them in the car, so I scratched the date and my name into the log as best as I could, reassembled the cache and hid it where NS had found it. There was evidence that someone was using the area to partake of illicit substances.
The cache definitely needs some TLC, so I am writing a NM log.
Thanks Hoojar for putting the cache here. Some interesting history and spectacular views.

The heat was killing us, but we made our way down and around and along the track.
Cool little spot, nice attribute!
Thanks for bringing me here, it's nice to see fallen history untouched

Found it on a morning with jjjml he's down from the bush , nothing he loves more than a hoojar cache , thanks for bringing us here
TFTC, interesting part of Port history. Left Silver thong travel bug, pls take me to sandy places!
2nd attempt to find. Got it today quite easily great camouflage. dropped Tyler's trackable gold ball
What an adventure leading to a great find with a miraculous view. Wasn't the best idea coming after a massive storm, trees blocked the paths taken but we managed to get through, clear majority of the path for future travelers. Much fun had
Found it. Ryan and Jade!

bit of an overgrown hike to the GZ but after a search a tell-tale blue flash revealed the cache.
I came looking for this a few months back but the long grass on a hot day made me cautious, and the breaking storm convinced me to save this for another day. Having just found the nearby cache underground, tulkasthestrong and I decided to try again. Found the 'route' out in the dark surprisingly easily. The old ruins were great in the dark with a full moon reflecting off the water. Then decided to 'bush bash' in a direct line back to the car. An excellent adventure so close to town. TFTC
First I took the wrong way to the fortress and then it started getting dark and durching the search it was then really dark, but finally I yet found it. Found another logbook page outside the box, put it back. It would be interesting to hear some more about the history, when was it built, to defend against whom?
Nice place and good views over the coast and Port Kembla.

Quite a trek down here but well worth it!! I think I turned every rock before I found it :/ left lots of lil treasures. I'm 3 for 3 the othersa didn't make the hike so I did this one solo. Now back to the 1st table to join the stragglers!! Lol
Quick find on a fun caching day in the gong After a bit of adventure finding the place.
Long grass and hot spring day placed me well out of my comfort zone.
Not sure how many time I said " what am I doing here today"
But the urge to find the treasure was too great.
All was good and the location is definitely worth a fav point.
Left a star to shine

Bit of a walk but worth it. Vandals ripped book and pages everywhere , put it back but not sure suggest co have a look!!
Beautiful spot. It's a shame the area is not better maintained for day visitors! 2 youngest rug rats fearlessly bush bashed to this one following alternate routes
Had a bit of spare time so i went caching.
Its amazing the weird places someone put picnic tables
Left geo marble

A fairly easy find once at GZ. The geokids and I decided to do this after a spot of shopping, we took our umbrellas in case the rain came, but no need to use them. Such good views from here. Thanks Hoojar.
Spending some time in the area with muggle friends and this was our 5th and final find for the day. Took about 5 mins to find because I made it harder than I need to... Safe and well, fabulous view and loved the adventure

Really enjoyed the walk out to this cache site and a short search located the cache.

I spent a bit of time looking for this cache. Was wondering if I was looking in the right area. A quick check of the iPhone revealed 0m. I was standing over it, according to that. And I was, as it turned out.
Thanks for showing me this area. Great to see a little piece of history, not to mention the great views.

This is my 64th cache and my first favourite I'm giving away! I loved the walk over from Sunrise at Hill 60, took 3 yr old geokid with me but I struggled to find the cache so geohubster ended up coming down from the picnic table (how on earth did that get there?) with our 22 month old. Eventually had cache in hand. Lots of broken glass glass but also lots of fun - SL, TFTC
Another picturesque and interesting location. Tracks are getting a bit overgrown. Obviously a special place for indigenous with many middens visible. Entered via the waypoint but thought there must be a better track out. There's not. TFTC.
Top spot for a cache. Searched around for a bit and then re read the last few logs and made a quick find. TFTC
A little embarasswd that this cache took 3 visits. I echo national steels comment. Once again but, nice area, love the fortress! Tftc
Found on our Wollongong caching holiday. This was one of our favourites for the trip, had no idea where this would take us to and we were impressed. Started the walk from the Wollongong Suburbs cache and meandered through all the grass paths and past some other pieces of history. Couldn't believe how many unloved picnic tables there were. Once we were about 20m from GZ, we decided that only one of us should go down because of the clump of bitou bush (I think). Once one of us got down with a little bit of trouble, the other was informed of the really cool structure down below. We were both then amazed at what was here, just 20m from the main path and unseen from the naked eye. After a few minutes, the cache was in hand. Very nice hide in a very interesting location. TNLNSL. TFTC fluffyfish (and Hoojar)!

Have DNFd on this one in the past, but success today. To echo some other helpful logs, IT IS INSIDE THE STRUCTURE. Dunno if due to cache creep or what. Anyway, a quick find once I'd changed tactics. The path down to here from the picnic area has had a lot of water down it and it's interesting to see the exposed layers of dirt and shells. These old forts remind me of exploring similar structures as a kid. TFTC!
That was a walkand a half. Tried to go back the beach way but tide too high. Tftc what an adventure not sure we actually went on the track!
TFTC Great spot with great views. Took a while to find but it is there. Spoiler: it is IN the structure - don't waste time looking outside. There are no trackables - only log.

Have managed to find a cache either on the way to work or on the way home for the last 5 days to fill in more calendar days.
Walked down the track, along the beach, over the rocks & then up the hill to get to GZ, once there made a quick find & completed caching duties but spent a little while admiring the view & also trying to imagine what this structure would have been like "in its day". Enjoyed seeing a bit of history........and got my exercise for the day!

[Such a lovely view here! I love places like this. We found the cache after about 30 mins of looking but I think the description of where it is located is VERY misleading] (or it is no longer hidden in the spot it was originally when the description was written). After about 20 mins of not entering the structure and staying along the path and having no luck, we expanded our search despite what the description says and came up with the goods. Maybe it needs to be revised?[ Either way, it was nice here so thanks for leading us to it!]
Great views here. Also a few nasty jagged bits of steel right at GZ - be careful. TFTC
Bummer, the WEEO and I spent a good 20 minutes going over the place to no avail. We did find a very likely spot, but there was nothing there. A great spot to visit.
A great walk out to the most fabulous view. The wind nearly blew me off the cliff! Did this one with the Newberys and it was more like 30 mins than 20, hunted every corner used the clue over and over but it did not help us. We have confidence in Hoojar's locations so could only conclude it has "gone walkabout" What a shame!
Joined the hunt today with J+J.au. and Chalk! We ended up having a fun day even if it did get a bit hot. SL..TFTC
The view is fabulous, finally nabbed this one, we were all searching and came up with the goods. TNSL TFTC
5798 + 613 = 6411. Found during a run down to Shellharbour/Wollongong region.
An interesting area. Great walk in - really enjoyed wandering around here. To top it off we found the cache - first find for this cache in over 12 months ! Happy with that. While I put in the log that I left a TB I forgot to ! Sorry ! Thanks Hoojar - no problems with this one !!
TNLN - TFTC !!
Cheers....

I've double checked the co-ords, simply from Google Earth. I will take a reading when next I head out there. But the cache is still there!
We had a really good look for this one.. No container in site, looked for one the size of an ammo container, looked for one smaller too.. We followed the clue and nothing.. Great views but disappointed we didn't come up with the goods..
Spent a long time looking for this one and even rang not one, but TWO phone-a-friends, all with no luck.
After 45min of search we have to log a DNF. During our search we found a place that perfectly fits GZ coordinates as well as the description and difficulty rating, but did not find a container.
I was defeated by this one, although I only had a limited time (5 minutes) to spend looking as my priority was checking out the local Trig Stations.
In any case no find here for me!

Dingo and I came out here this morning and confirmed that the cache is exactly where we left it. We then we down for a walk and swim along the beach, lovely winter weather, even the water wasn't *too* cold!
After turning over every rock in the ruins over a 45min period I was unable to find the cache. I had 7 people looking for it at the same time, but came up empty handed. I am guessing that the cache isn't there, but would love to be proven wrong.
Enjoyed everything about this cache a nice view with a nice walk in. the only drawback was we didn't find the cache. Maybe next time.

Dingo and I took a walk out here with some friends this afternoon. We replaced a small container and then went for a walk and two swims on the beach below. Perfect autumn swimming weather today!
Sounds like this one may have gone walk-a-bout, I will get down there and check on it soon.
After a nice walk out to it on a windy afternoon - DNF
D'oh! Should have read the logs first!!

I went with sexygirlkel and she said it was not there maybe someone should check the cache
508. IT was a pity that the pleasant walk out here was ruined by the appearance of a DNF. Seriously, don't DNFs know that they're not wanted or appreciated?
Bugger............
Yep, you guessed it, we couldn't find it. McPhan, Zsa Zsa and I made the trek out to GZ, searched for about 20 minutes, but came up empty handed.
Just one of those things I guess, but alas no joy.
Thanks anyway Hoojar.

A pity most of these 'forts' are falling apart, it would have been good if just one had been preserved.
The hint took some time to work out, as just where was I supposed to stand? In the end it all made sense, and I found an ammo can to boot! Thanks fluffyfish, always great to see some history.
