Great cache, would have never walked down here and discovered this cool grassed area if it wasn't for this cache. Left some swag
A quick find after chatting with a whitebaiter who hadn’t any luck today so wasn’t any point in inviting myself for a meal
Definitely very easy this time and after 10 years we finally changed a blue face to a yellow smiley face. Lots more experience now. LOL
One of several caches I located today, mostly in the Kakanui/Oamaru area before continuing in the direction of Christchurch. Not sure that I’ve ever visited Kakanui before. Good to spend a little while here and pick up a few caches. This one was a quick find. #4973. TFTC.
There was some activity I could observe on the other side from the vantage point, aptly named! TFTC!!
Great views from here and very happy to find your 100th cache. Glad we didn't have to climb lol. Thanks for the cache drawp.
Thanks Drawp for the 100th placement. Great spot to stop and enjoy the view.
Quick find today our last day travelling after 4 weeks on the road.

It has been a long day, after a sleepless night stuck in Middlemarch. Will I get out...? Yes I did through Macraes, a great detour and a an eye opener really. Got to Palmerston, didn't want to head south, thought Kakanui would be a great spot for the night. Have never seen so much water in the river, stood and watched for a while. Tall one easily spotted.
A beautiful morning for a stroll around this beautiful area. One of my fave spots here. TFTC
I spotted the hint from a distance but when I got to GZ I was a bit worried as the base was quite bare looking. A half hearted poke into what was left revealed the well concealed cache. Nice view.
How do geocachers celebrate their 26th wedding anniversary? By geocaching, of course.
This is find number 2019!

#17671. A nice time of day to be out caching. Nice views across the river towards where we were staying. TFTC.
After a couple of days in Dunedin, StreetWalkerNZ and I are spending two nights in Kakanui. We set out in the early evening to have a look around, and a few caches, of course .
A good vantage point and cache was quickly found. TFTC.

A quick easy find while staying nearby. Enjoyed the view and some fish and chips. Thanks for the cache

I was really looking forward to turning a previous frown upside down. Unfortunately I couldn't spot the right place again today.
On a quest to complete the Hidden Creatures challenge so again off to Oamaru to find about 80 caches and this was one of them. I have driven past here a million times and today was the day to stop..TFTC
A quick and easy find, once I had found the correct way into GZ Thanks
A weekend away to Oamaru and environs. A beautiful day today, warm with blue skies.
Thanks to the CO's for placing and maintaining these caches. Cheers.

Wow awesome spot! Came here with my dog today and she loved it as well thank you!
The (major road trip was about to begin) that was for the Oamaru Geofest trip in the company of HKCB and iammrwalker for a bit of a road trip across to the west coast, through Haast and in a roundabout way to Oamaru.
My trip stats were as follows: 617 caches (214 Puzzles), 3300kms, 500 litres of Petrol, 21 hours sleep, 100+hours caching time. THe weather was wonderful and apart from about a 6hour period on the sunday we had fine weather all the way and feel that we made a bit of a hole in the region.
Firstly thanks to all the CO's that put in the effort to to set up these caches and to all the CO's whose caches we did not find this trip, well we are already planning our next trip.
We worked hard at getting specific caches (especially the Geo Art around christchurch and hence our concentration on this area for the preliminary 24 hours. So after a couple of running repairs to the rental vehicle (fuses not working) we were off knowing that all ports could be charged and that sleep was for the weak.
Sorry about the copy and paste logs but that is what tends to happen with a number run of this size. What a day this was going to be and a chance to have a good look around the area. It was amazing to wake up after having afull nights sleep and not have that sand in the eyes feeling and sore back from sleeping in the back of a car. Starting the day off working our way along the coast, followed by a spot of inland caching before making it back to Oamaru for a bite to eat followed by a bit more caching.

Came down this way from the North for the Oamaru Geofest, and decided to add a few more days to the weekend trip and turn it into a bit of a Mega mission, starting 5pm on Wednesday 18th and finishing 3pm Monday 23rd! Teaming up with Cats&Dragons for the first 24 hours then with Iammrwalker joining the team for the remainder.
Just a few of the stats for the trip were:
- 700 caches found, including 270+ puzzles (thanks to the Christchurch Geoart)
- 3300 km's driven, using over 500L of fuel $$$
- Just over 20 hours of sleep (about 4 per day on average), and about 100 hours of caching time.
Certainly a Mega Trip!
Day 5: With a good nights sleep for the first time this trip, we were up early and out the door for another full days caching. The goal for today was to cache our way down to the Moeraki Boulders and then see where the next cache lead us. One thing we were looking out for today was caches which hadn't been found in a long time.
Sorry about the cut and past logs, but that seems to happen with cache runs of this size!

I found this Geocache on a Geocaching mega mission along with Cats&Dragons and HKCB. With only just over three and half thousand Geocache finds I was very much the over achiever in training. We were in the South Island to support the Oamaru Geofest event, hunt down some Jasmar and D/T harder to find Geocaches, lonely caches (those not found in more than 6 months), virtuals and try and meet some milestone numbers. We signed the logs HIC, an abbreviation of our respective Geocaching names, (H)KCB, (I)ammrwalker and (C)ats&dragons. A huge thanks to all the CO’s who placed and maintain the Geocaches we found.
I arrived in Christchurch late Thursday evening having left straight from work and was picked up by my intrepid companions in our four wheel drive rental to find they had already grabbed about 270 finds in the previous twenty four hours. I wonder if the rental company would have still let us have it had they known we would travel 3300km in it before returning it four days later? Our trip took us to Greymouth via Arthurs pass, Ngahere, down the west coast to Haast across to Hawea, Cromwell, Twizel, Aoraki Mt Cook, Tekapo, onto the east coast up to Oamaru and back up to Christchurch via Akaroa and countless diversions and small towns along the way. We slept in the car for the first two nights, grabbing some shut eye between cache finds, taking turns to drive. We rented a small place in Oamaru for the other two nights and appreciated a bed to sleep in and a hot shower. It was an amazing trip, in which I discovered the South Island has some of the most incredible scenery in the world.
We were drawn to the interesting TD rating for this cache and were not disappointed. It was still nice and early a few people were starting to set out for a morning fish. the bank was slippery and it wasn't an easy find even once we got to GZ but it was fun and memorable.

Out and about in the area finding all we could, thanks for taking the time to place and maintain the cache
Jelly legs after that one I hate precarious heights so not my favourite so far hope the rest along the beach are easier at least I got a find tftc
Having a few days at the wonderful kakanui camp ground. Collecting a few caches around the area
easily found the old track from the description and searched every nook and cranny I could find back and forth, back and forth then went above. Obviously missed the important one. Congratulations on your milestone drawp.
Cache checked today and all good. Take extreme care as the "track" is not maintained and very narrow.
Had my brother with me & based on the description he knew exactly where to go. Don't think I would've gone for this cache if I was by myself. Enjoyed the views, the thorny plants not do much. TFTC
The directions were excellent, we found the path as directed, enjoyed the views and the cache. Getting into the limestone area now.
Well, this was quite an adventurous one. No chance of muggles surprising you here! Loved it, thanks!
I did wonder where the GPS was taking us but got there in the end Found with Aoraki Sheep.
Crikey, tie your shoelaces up before taking this one. Don't think the shipmate juggles spotted me.
Was on my way South to the first Mega in New Zealand which was being held in Dunedin. Managed to work it out so that I was able to team up with fozzmiester and agcnz and go on an 8 day caching trip around the South Island, this was day 1 of the road trip.
After finding GC3VQC6 - Mighty Oaks #20 (North Otago) we decided to head out to the Kakanui peninsula and go around and pick up the caches along here as there was a few out here as it seems to be a little power trail out this way.
This was the first cache that we decided that we would do as we decided to do this trail from North to South. The walk down to GZ was very enjoyable and it really didnt take as long as I thought that it was going to make our way down to GZ, as we arrived near GZ the GPS soon guided us to a spot that was a great vantage point and from here we soon spotted a likely spot for the cache.
The cache didnt take too long to find, signed and replaced as found, thanks for placing the cache here and for bringing us to this lovely spot, TFTC TNLNSL (4945), now to the next cache in the trail.
