Seeing that this cache hadn't been found in 2 years, I ventured out determined to claim it. I didn't not wear appropriate clothing but I didn't care. Following the track down, I passed a dead animal with flies swarming about. Realizing I had passed my destination, I turned around and noticed a decrepit, essentially path. I walked forward and backward trying to find another way in. Eventually, I just went straight for it and saw Hedwig. Upon arrival, I noticed a leech on my arm and proceeded to eliminate it before removing the unsignable, crusty log. I took a photo of said log for proof. I proceeded to run back to the road to dust myself of any remaining leeches, of which, there was only one still, in my sock. Thanks for the cache, I will never be going down there again.

04-Oct-23
I found a stump but no cache

08-Jan-23
Lived up here long ago but never crossed from Stephens Drive to Highlands parade. Was a rugged and scratchy walk and we did not find it. Next tine. Thanks

28-Sep-22
This geocache has been my nemesis for too long, and I once went flying down this track thanks to an overprotective doggo. As a true Capricorn, I definitely prefer my feet on ground, no matter how clumsy I am.

Trekked up here today with loaded gps and previous finder for a slew of reasons. To get this dang find and to test out the new hiking boots. Succeeded on both accounts and only had one hitchhiker back to the car.

Log is sogginess to the exact definition and unfortunately didn’t have a spare to leave. Photo taken as proof of find for CO if required. TFTC!

17-Aug-22
Looked for ages but it was getting dark so we decided to leave. Hope to come back and find it again

17-Jul-22
Found it, after 20mins of trampling through the bush. Little overgrown. Nearly turned back. Everything is absolutely soaked, including paper, container and pen. Good adventure

04-May-22
Overgrown after all this rain.

12-Mar-22
What a hoot! Really enjoyed the walk. OCW Brewmaker. TFTC

12-Mar-22
That was more like Indiana Jones than Harry Potter, but we used our magic to find Hedwig roosting in the bush. The log was soaked but we found a spot on it to dry out and added our initials, BM & EH. TFTC

05-Jan-22
Very nice bit of forest. Deffinately interesting in the wet, didn't want to take the log out to sign as it was raining heavily. Tftc!!!

26-Sep-21
Definitely not a Terrain 3, not the long way we went anyway, including g the Indiana Jones bridge cross!

26-Jul-21
Great hide, loved the bush walk to the cache. Cool stuff to look at when your in the bush. Good cache, thanks

Back for a second time, Hedgwig still here!
TFTC!

14-Jun-21
Definitely worth it for the walk, but we didn't find the cache. Sad

03-Oct-20
After going off track and rolling halfway down the hill we got there tftc

11-May-20
A nice, straightforward cache. Only about 100m down a track that was a little steep and slippery. We took our time. With about 20m to go we had to leave the track. The etrex played up, but after looking at the 3rd fallen tree, there was the likely GZ. After looking down into a hidey hole, Dan then looked up to see the cache looking at him. Good one. TFTC

Great cache to finish our day! Love it!

08-Jul-19
Woah! What a walk down and back! Got down the path where GZ was, a minor path deviation and was about to turn back when....oh thats weird here. Quickly signed and back on the path up.
Would not recommend doing it with wet ground, was an ice rink to climb!

Find # 4808
Found with sesblocker and Aries44duo.
Great coordinates made for an easy find. The walk down here is a very steep. There is no logbook, so we've added one.
We give this cache a favourite point for the container.

24-May-19
OCW The Neighbs and SESBlocker while staying in the Illawarra. I finally got to find this cache as its been sitting amonst a sea of smileys for some time.
It was a bit of a work out for the old knees going down the track. A little way off the track brought us eventually onto the hide. Enjoyed the cache and a F.P. No log book but I had a brand new spare with me. TFTC Ironbark.

02-May-19
Not an easy cache at all. We had to leave the bush track into some thick bush and accidentally damaged some of the bush around us. Definitely deserves a higher difficulty rating.

12-Mar-19
Parked the car nearby and began the steep slippery descent down to the cache, I got to within 10m of gz before the etrex started doing walkabouts, but I managed to spot something that matches the clue, nice hide, thanks for the walk!

26-Jun-18
No luck here today, but had a good bushbash around!

29-Apr-18
Definitely a bush bash. Not too easy to find with gps not working properly.

23-Jan-18
There was a lot of leaf litter on the track so it was a slippery slide at times. Then under the trees the GPS started playing up. But after much bush bashing I finally found it. An interesting location. I certainly worked up a sweat by the time I got back to the car. TFTC

20-Dec-17
I came up this way to get the two trigs, but decided to venture down for this one. It was a big of a slog in the heat of this day, although the southerly had come trough...but it took a bit of sweat out of me. Very satisfying. TFTC

14-Oct-17
Went for a quick walk in today.
Installed new log in waterproof container.
Old container still there but log not in it, only the writing implement. Probably how it got wet.
Container laying on its side.
Please leave standing upright as it will be even more waterproof in this position.
Go get it.

#4460 (6 of 13 today)

The Geowife is heading to Newcastle for lunch with friends. After dropping here off at the train station, I headed south - got to keep the landmass in balance...
Ended up around Corrimal, so went for a number of caches nearby. Even grabbed a multi and a simple puzzle. By the time I headed home (90 minute drive) I had 13 finds - and a few DNFs.

Better still, there are still plenty here to grab another day.
###END OF CUT AND PASTE SECTION###
OK. Go for high terrain.
If I'd read the logs before heading to GZ I'd have brought some paper for a new log. But that's so steep getting back out I'm not going back!

Came in from closer the creek. From down there it was easier to get a good reading, but it does mean a harder slog back up to GZ.
And I do hate those spiky plants - grabbed one reflexively as I slipped slightly. Owwwwwww!

Can I say that this is the most impressive of this type of GZ features I've seen.
Made the grab and... the contents fell out as there is no bottom on the container. So needed to stretch to retrieve them.
Yes, the log is a lump - but a dry one so I could actually sign it. It's still a lump, though.

Put the lump in the ziplock and replaced all. Then tried getting out the direct way... that was easy!
And then (pant) the walk (wheeze) back up (groan) the track (phew).

Great area, but no wildlife spotted. And that also means no leeches.

This cache was awesome. It was starting to get dark and me and my friend decide to try this cache. When we got there we thought we would be crazy to do this cache. it was really dark and We had no torch and to top it all off it was raining. Eventually the rain cleared and we slid down the bush track. When we got to the cache we knew what we where looking for so cache was very quickly in hand. Luckily no leeches. The log was just a wet mess so no one can log this cache until the log is fixed.

14-Oct-16
Not real Aussie bush unless your in the lantana bush! Another down in the thongs today my feet are hating me at the moment but my hands are happy to hold hedwig! Needs a little maintenance and defiantly worth fixing! TFTC

28-Sep-16
If anyone knows how to stop a compass on a samsung being so terrible I would have been able to save a bit of time. Great hiding spot but took forever due to a constantly jumping compass

28-Sep-16
Log extremely damp. Holes torn while writing name and couldnt put the paper all the way in the tube due to it being torn up

15-Aug-16
Decided to try this one with 5 year old Geoson. After a false start and a bit of bush bashing, we found Hedwig!!!

Thanks for the adventure Ironbark!

14-May-16
Ahhh. What a great cache.

Parked as per the instructions but was a bit spooked by the large private property sign. Turns out that was for straight ahead and we didn't need to trespass. We followed the clear path to about 10m to go and it was clear we would have to bush bash. Bush bash we did and we were rewarded with a great cache container. Geodad was most pleased and said I have to favourite this cache. We admired the swing and enjoyed the steep walk out which got my heart pumping. Thanks for the adventure!

11-Feb-16
Found with Gav-scr had a bit of a swing too

11-Feb-16
Found it, pretty deep, done in thongs, only one leech so far, swing was fun

01-Oct-15
Didn't find it but we didn't come prepared for the rough terrain. Got lots of leeches though!

31-Jul-15
New log in water tight capsule in place with new pen.
Happy Hunting.
Lots of ferns grown around the area but still clear around GZ.
Access from the top is easier at the moment as someone has brush cut the track.

Ironbark.

28-Jun-15
Ust to show we....more like I.....found it!

24-Jun-15
Eeeeeeewwwwwwww! Leeches! Stumble's Mate didn't fill me in on THIS little detail.
If this is a terrain 3.....I'd hate to see what a 4 or 5 is. Definately NOT for the unfit. Requires bush bashing to get to GZ. No log so photo taken - see Stumble's Mate log for photo.

23-Jun-15
OMG! What an epic down/up walk. Not suitable for the unfit. Cache photo taken as no log to write in

24-Feb-15
Day trip down to Wollongong - between 15 to 20 finds today.

This one was cool! As much as it was a bushbash, the cache location is amazing

The log is completely soaked, clumped and mouldy and unfortunately I didn't have my bag or spare paper with me!

NEXT FINDER OR CO SHOULD REPLACE CLIP LOCK BAG AND PAPER!

31-Jan-15
Wow that was fun!!!!

19-Jul-14
Needs a new log sheet.

19-Jul-14
After a long search with poor GPS signal we made the great find. The log was very soggy.

What i expected for this hide.
It needs better waterproofing as the log was soggy

29-Dec-13
Sad

29-Dec-13
Found with paulyman while out caching today. This one was quite difficult to get to. We made it down to the creek before realising we had gone too far. After backtracking to the power lines I spotted an old track and followed it down to GZ. Watch out for the cabbage tree palms on the way down! Great container, TFTC.

29-Dec-13
Found with snorris, eventually. The gizmo was telling us where to go, but with all the recent tree lopping we couldn't see a path through. At the creek? Nope. Over the huge piles of logs and branches? Well for paulyman yes, snorris managed to find an easier route in. We made the find and signed the log. Our lego man trackable posed for a photo with Hedwig, then we were off. Thanks for the cache and the challenge.

12-Dec-13
came back here to show prince harry 2516 this cache and the long was very wet. the cache inside was also very wet

06-Nov-13
What a bush bash to gz! Got there in the end!

02-Nov-13

02-Nov-13
Bit of a bush bash to get to.gz i fell once or 10 times but got there in the end tftc Smile

02-Nov-13
helping some mates find this cache add 2 travel bugs

16-Oct-13
Nipped in today as was working just down the road and found a lot of tree lopping had occured under the power lines.
This didn't affect the cache as it is sitting all snug where it belongs with no branches or any other debris over it.
There is some a few metres away and some trees were lopped quite close but all is good. Actually with all the overheads gone the gizmo coverage should be very good and only a couple of metres of scrub between cache and track, and best of all no leeches as it is so dry.

Ironbark.

06-Oct-13
when I got to GZ found 3ft of tree cuttings were piled on top of cache. might require maintenance check.

16-Aug-13
I had forgotten just how steep this place was, and today NO leeches, thanks Ironbark, a great spot.

19-May-13
Wow! Thats a cache commitment.. trekin with a 12kg tot in arms! Worth the find..cheers! No coin as indicated in inventory!

24-Apr-13
Tftc. A bit of a trek. Due to weather recently the terrain could've been higher! Glad I found this, I'll pm CO.
Got back to top to check for leeches. Only one and hadnt gotten through my sock yet! Yay!

27-Dec-12
This was a beauty. Found with 'Lee on line and our eighth for the day. TFTC

Coordinates changed from:
S 34° 19.984 E 150° 53.904

Coordinates changed to:
S 34° 19.992 E 150° 53.901

Distance from original: 50.8 feet or 15.5 meters.

Two DNFs so a quick check, looks like this one has gone MIA so a new one is back in place within a few metres of the old.
So new co-ords needed.

12-Dec-12
I looked all over, as the GPSr was going crazy, and there were more than one of the things that the hint hinted at...oh, and I ended up with two leeches, no make that three, as one fell off me later on, along the bottom of the cliff lines when searching for an Arkaroo cache.

24-Sep-12
Dnf! Gps going everywhere

05-Jun-12
Beautiful forest, even better not bein muched by leeches. Took path tags, no sizn of TB. Log book is totally soaked and will need replacing, sorry didn't have a spare log sheet with me. TFTC

27-Aug-11
It all makes sense now. Nice hide. Few leeches about. Found with BallBags and SimoneBone. SL, Simonebone took 2007 Australian Geocoin, I left BlackAndWhite PathTag coin and Lucy & Roo PathTag coin. TFTC!

20-Aug-11
saw this cache in the shop today nice spot for a cache

01-May-11
Found this after initially trying to go completely off road. Eventually found the path, and soon had the cache in hand. TFTC!

01-May-11
Great neighbours where you park, all yelled out to us and told us to be careful of leeches, when we got back they wanted to know how many we had had. Millions, from the size of a thread of cotton to huge ones, all very blood thirsty. Saying that we enjoyed the walk, great spot and plenty of exercise while we looked in wrong place till GPS settled down. Got to tell you I jumped 6" when we got to cache. The log is a little damp, dont know how it managed that as plastic bag has a good seal. Went to find a couple more after this one and they all had heaps of muggles, I do so like the ones where you don't have to worry as in the bush you can hear people coming from a mile off. Thanks for a great cache

29-Mar-11
wot and I attempted this cache in the morning after it had been raining.
We first arrived up top the hill... and upon seeing how far down we had to go, decided to drive around to the suggested parking spot.
Once there, a nice neighbour across the road offered us his parking spot where his boat was, and told us how to find the 'track' into the forest.
Well! The 'track' didn't end up being much of a track at all. A lot of areas were really over grown and very hard to get through. After what seemed like forever, we had actually only made it about 30m in, and still had about 80m to go! So we decided to retreat and head back to the car and accept this as a defeat Sad
Once back at the car, I looked down and saw my light blue jeans were covered in tiny leeches! Upon closer inspection, we were both covered in the little #&%@s, and they had made their way right up the inside of my jeans and left me bleeding all over the place. We both basically had to drop our dacks there to make sure we got them all.
Needless to say, we ended our Geocaching adventure for the day right here. Razz Such a horrible experience, and one I sure hope we never have to experience again!

14-Jan-11
Geo-son got a leach on him, I fell on my .... going down hill but a good fun cache none the less. Thanks

08-Jan-11
The sneaky hide's colour threw me off a little but Hoojar soon had the cache in hand while Ding had to wait behind Sad
Cheers.

08-Jan-11
Like others have said, parking is the easy part! We wandered around looking for the track head, and the followed the wrong path. Oops. We ended up above GZ, but a short bush bash had us in the correct location. We then found the clever hide. You'll need your car key to open it though!

We followed the path back to the car, but even this was overgrown in places. A most enjoyable walk on a great part of our escarpment.

Cheers

06-Jan-11
Nice walk, like the container. Lots of Leeches . TFTC Left GC

01-Jan-11
What an adventure….
Of course you always take the wrong way in, well we do anyway..
After finding the correct track and losing sat reception a few times we finally arrived at GZ to be totally surprised when we found the item of interest. Even Harry would have been impressed.
Very clever Ironbark. This is a good example of what the activity is all about… Having fun.

14-Dec-10
I parked at the wrong end of the track so went back to the correct location. Where's the path? Ah, there. Somewhat overgrown in places, the condition seemed to contradict the efforts locals have gone to in maintenance (stairs, little bridge, etc). A very pleasant adventure, and a novel cache!
TNLNSL, thanks for the cache Ironbark!
best wishes,
Wal

12-Dec-10
Completed this with all my fellow family cachers, toadmister7, Ace7, and JetKirk! After bashing through the bush and a lot of leeches we arrived at GZ! Loved the cache container. Had lots of fun TFTC!

12-Dec-10
This was a true family caching event with all the Geokids in tow - Ace7, Tadpole7 and JetKirk. We parked at the designated parking area and Ace7 was in charge of directions. Soon the track was found but we had also picked up a few hitchhikers (leaches). This soon became the topic of conversation (how many have you got?). Soon Ace had us within 10m but I got a phone call from work so had to have a 10minute conversation whilst the leaches reaquainted themselves with the Geokids. Finally finished the call and we made the push for the cache. WOW. what a surprise. The kids loved the container and we took some photos. (not published as it might give the game away). Thanks Ironbark, we truelly had fun with this one ( despite the leaches) . Did I mention the leaches?. TFTC

11-Dec-10
Took a while to find the right approach for this one but after that it wasn't to hard. First container of this kind I have seen!!
TFTC Wilbert67

20-Nov-10
Came past this one on the way home from a geokid drop-off. Was a bit concerned about the location at first but was greatly surprised upon reaching GZ. Nice container. Saw one like this in Newcastle recently. Good work.

11-Nov-10
This had sat on my nearest unfound for way too long so today I managed to drive as close as possible before taking a short trek down the track to GZ.
The funny looking cache was soon in hand and the name became apparent.
Thanks

02-Nov-10
After being foiled with the FTF yesterday, today after work I took the approach from Highlands Parade at the northern end of the track.

It wasn't too far in from where I parked to GZ. The GPSr died around GZ but I was close enough to look in a couple of spots.

That swing down the hill looks pretty good Surprised.

Once the very good cache container was located Cool (bet you've been saving this one) the log was signed and back up the hill.

Leech count: 1.

TFTC!

01-Nov-10
Thanks Ironbark for a walk in a pretty part of the Illawarra and for a FTF. The cache container is also one of the nicest that I have seen. By accident, I started on the track from the top end which I think might be the end closest to GZ. But then again I'm often lost so I could be wrong about that. TFTC. TNLN.
