Parked up and made the nice walk into this one in the heat, found the cache and returned With a few days off I headed over to the northern Eyre peninsula for a 2 night stay in Whyalla, my main aim for the few days was the FITG and the FTF trail plus finding a few caches here and there along the way. Just under 300 caches found for the trip. Thanks for the cache
TFTC Liz and Bruce your cache Sweet and Salty that we found today. Our second day on Whyalla, camped at the Football club. Went out for a couple of hours this morning on a caching run, before returning to gather supplies and prepare to move on tomorrow. An enjoyable morning. After speaking to the CO we replaced the container.Find Count: 17671
Hmm this had us thinking and prodding around for a bit but malegeo eyes spotted it , nice hide
After wandering around W.A. for the last 3 months, caravanning, caching and hunting wildflowers we are slowly making our way home to Adelaide. Stayed here in Whyalla for a few days as way too windy to travel. So while waiting for the wind to ease we cached.
Well what a day this turned out to be. As we approached this one we spotted a white car over yonder. They gave us a bit of a wave so we drove a bit further in their direction until we could go no further as it was very muddy and wet. Looking closer we could see that they we bogged so we went to help. By this stage the wind was blowing a raging gale and we could hardly keep our balance. We tried in vane and as we didn't have any rescue equipment with us decided to ring for help. By this time the young ladies were covered in sticky clay and so was the inside of their car. We were also slipping and sliding as it is difficult to walk in clay in thongs when a gale is blowing.. Many phone calls later help arrived. A nice young man new exactly what was needed and went up the hill and pulled the car out backwards from about 60 meters away. Just as well he had a long rope. Young lady said it was like a rollercoaster ride backwards. After the successful rescue we said goodbye and went and got the cache. Life is never boring when out caching. T.F.T.C.
Another cache found during our 2022 South Australia Adventure using Geocaching as our guide.
Thanks Liz and Bruce, it is quite surprising that such a small cache can stand the test of time in this hostile environment.

Continuing our celebrations of birthday week for the cats, Purrfect Di and Mattycat decided to go do some more birthday caching and see what we can unwrap in the way of iron triangle log books. Yours was one we found along the way, with the help of Jack. Quite a fun packed day finding all sorts.
Seeing an unfound L&B cache... salty.
Finding the way along the tracks to locate and log it... sweet !
A little smaller than many we've found, doing well to survive out here
Sincere thanks to Liz and Bruce for placing and maintaining this cache on our geo game map
[:o)]
I must note that we certainly do appreciate the way those mint tins age to blend in with the rusty outback earth!!! Ashes to ashes, dust to dust, plastic cracks and mint tins rust!
---
Searching around every day finding and signing using some or all of the resources of GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife), Whereyougo, Garmin Montana 750i, Montana 680t, Etrex 35, Samsung S20+, Samsung S9, with Geocaching App, c:Geo, or Geooh Go, and Android Auto and other maps... or often with just plain old dumb luck Quite a lot of that actually!!!
*Logs are composed and published using GSAK of course.*
---
Please do stay as safe as possible when caching.
Keep a lookout for bogs, snakes, surprise cliffs, boxing roos, wombats, bulldust, and floods,
try not to get tetanus from rusty mint tins and don't fall out of trees...
-- -- -- -- -- -- -- but especially lookout for bugs from alpha to omega !!! . [xx(]
Try to keep Travel Bugs as the only bugs you share and pass on
Now our borders are open - even more important to sanitise and safely distance!!!
Much appreciation of all those placing quality caches out and about around the countryside,
in sensible safe places especially! - it keeps our game safe, fun, and interesting

A great caching start to Twenty Twenty Too

Awesome afternoon for a scroll with the delinomads, after a 2km walk to locate another along this beautiful beach, thanks guys
Full time nomads since 2014. Still tootling around the country trying to avoid Covid hotspots.
Back in SA for harvest work. Heading to Port Pirie but 4 days ahead of schedule so a quick detour to Whyalla was in order. There sure is a lot of puzzles here! Glad we had done the solving before arriving in town. Rain overnight meant there was some slip sliding happening as we tackled numerous off road tracks and climbs today. Good Fun in the Geo Cruiser [:o)]

TFTC. With help from PAF (petals08) we were able to find this one … eventually!
Happy caching and safe travels!
Happy caching and safe travels!
This weekend, I headed to Whyalla to catch up with a few other Geocachers and attempt some of the trails there. On Saturday, we targeted the FTF power trail from Whyalla to Iron Knob, and then spent the evening and the subsequent morning driving some of Whyalla's back tracks. On Sunday, I visited Cowleds Landing and back north, only to get severely bogged in one of Whyalla's clay pans. I then returned home via the August series.
Today, we started the day at a meet/greet breakfast event, and then I headed out with hevwalker and scramping for a few more geocaches south-west of Whyalla along the back tracks and main road, followed by the December trail series. I then continued south visiting Cowleds Landing and the proclaimed nudist beach. I next found *Potty Time*, only to realise that I had driven on the nearby clay pans, and then sank into the soft clay below on my way out. Eventually I had help in getting out, and finished my remaining time in Whyalla completing the pipeline August series, and calling into Whyalla Conservation Park for a few high favourite caches. I then made the long journey back to Adelaide stopping at a few miscellaneous geocaches along the way.
This was kind of a cool place, and enjoyed the views of the gulf and coastal vegetation. I arrived and noted that this cache was likely missing, with the CO granting permission to replace it in order to allow this cache to still stay alive. I did have a quick search for the old container, but no such luck, so returned to my vehicle to prepare a new geocache. I was going to put down a small sistema container, but the size needed to be micro, so I went to placing a painted Eclipse mint container with the logbook in a protected plastic bag. There wasn't a lot of sights or rocks to create SPORs, but I did gather a few small rocks and cuttlefish parts (I know they won't survive, but you never know), and placed the cache under that. Refer to my photos. Thanks Liz and Bruce for the cache placement, and woodsy5 for its ongoing maintenance.
To emphasise my replacement container: It is an Eclipse mint container painted black, with logbook in a plastic bag. It is about 1 m from the edge of bushes, and covered by some cuttlefish rocks.

Could any one attending this cache please replace. It may be missing. With thanks Liz and Bruce
Found with weets06, container was out in the open relocated to a bush very close to original location, needs a pencil
Container has been replaced by friends travelling that way. All good with the cache.

Needs replacing. Took 4wd to this one. Found GZ and remnants of cache. Only part of it left, it is all broken. No log etc.
An interesting drive here. Been awhile since I found a Liz and Bruce cache!
Thanks for bringing me here today...
Spending a few days in Whyalla and found a few cache, or 300!
Had managed to solve all the puzzles before coming over too.
Of the nearly 300 found on the trip over and back from Adelaide, 95% were found within 50km of Whyalla Central, with approx a dozen dnfs also. Amongst all the finds was my 17000th find.
Also managed a lot of 'unloved' finds too.
What is it with Whyalla and mint tins? lol
TNLNSL
Thanks

Went out to 8 mile creek for a bit of family time. The kids sank in the mud (so did the dog), played in the water and we had a (pre-cooked) BBQ for tea. I came prepared to replace the cache - in the end I did open the bison tube with some pliers, and put it in the new container (300ml size). I put in a new logbook in there too and placed in the same location. Once we'd left I realised I did not sign the log!!!!!!!! - still claiming the find though.
It’s getting up to the 1 ¾ year mark & being this town geo cache central it’s amazing it hasn’t been found in that time. At GZ I was looking & looking & was about to give this 1 the flick when it jumped out at me. Tried to log but the bilson tube is welded or rusted together. Lid unable to open – thanks for the drive out here.
I was, very generously, offered a trip to Whyalla with Moneydork that was too good to refuse!
Today was a leisurely tour around the Whyalla area which resulted in my finding 48 smileys and with 3 DNFs
I wandered in for a cache before I had even realised that it was a Liz and Bruce cache
A fairly quick find here and I see that even this geocaching couple have succumbed to the need to hide micros in the bush.....obviously you have taken Whyalla caching to heart
Hope you are both well and having a great time

Found with Team Waldron and The White Dog Gang as part of a three day jaunt over to the west coast. This cache added to around 200 caches found in a range of bush and city settings in Whyalla, Port Augusta, Iron Baron and lots of other places. TFTC.
Doing a Whyalla & surrounding area run with Team Waldron & Trail 06.
This was one of the many we found.
Cool spot, thanks for bringing us here

G'day Liz and Bruce, from a freezing cold, wet and windy Whyalla
Today I was trying to leave towne and followed a trail of caches along the coast road leading south.
Turns out that road is a dead end at Cowleds Landing, so I was heading back to Whyalla and could not resist a detour out to this sweet and salty place
It sure feels remote out here !!
A beautiful landscape [^]
There are only a handful of places in mainland Australia that you can lookout across the sea and see more of mainland Australia on the distant horizon [:o]
Meanwhile, the cache was a nice easy find
I took in some of the sweet and saltiness, by having a nibble on some pigface leaves
An acquired taste, I'm sure [xx(]

The old GPS cover (I think) was on the ground so we tied it back up the best we could. The next visitor may want to bring a cable tie.
Thanks to Liz and Bruce and clear skies from TeamAstro.

Was in the area and having been here recently and knowing its needs I placed a new container and log type as requested by owner. Should keep it going for a bit longer now.
Found it while doing a few caches in the area with the geodaughter. As with askjgraz, the cache is in need of some tlc. TFTC.
If anyone is going along to do this cache and has a spare bison tube it would fix this one up and give it the tlc it needs. It would be much appreciated. With thanks and kind regards Liz and Bruce
Half the replacement cache container was on the ground and it's an item I would not have expected to see out there!! No log and no way to reconnect the two halves this one really needs a new container.

Well I made a makeshift container and hopefully it will hold until Woods can put in a more permanent one.
It should give the next cacher a laugh.

Only when we got to GZ and found a spring did we realize this cache needed maint. Nothing on us to help with replacement. Thanks for the walk.
Having arrived back in country we noticed this one needs some work. It was hanging so if someone could take along a bison tube or like that would be great. With thanks.
Search, search, so call helpline and so back and search - yep found only wire but no container. so woodsy5 will maintence. Thanks Liz and Bruce also woodsy5.
I love this area it is so nice. The Hunta was kind enough to drive us around this area caching in his 4WD. Luckily it was low tide or it may have been difficult to get to GZ. The boys were looking in a bush at GZ and I thought I would look at a nearby one and I came up trumps! Appropriate hide for the area! Cool container. No crabs today though... too much caching to be done.

Walked about 30m to GZ with our dog...a bit muddy to walk...took a while before found it. Our dog jumped onto a puddle and made himself a mess! But he had fun! Thanks Liz and Bruce for the cache.
Here at low tide so it was an easy stroll to GZ and thanks to spot-on coordinates a nice quick find.
Cheers & TFTC.

Slosh Slosh, mud mud.... slip over and fall

I was nearby doing the cache "Over The Hill", and after finding it I set off to do this cache only to find it wasn't in my GPSr - dunno why not. Oh well, the area is worth another visit.
Great to find another Liz & Bruce cache and to catch up with you both again.
Happy travels and may every cache be another smiley for you.

Took a while to get this one, GPS kept taking me out on the flood plain for some reason..
Nice pleasant drive out to grab another FTF. Neat container ... too much time on your hands Bruce? Thanks Liz and Bruce for putting the cache out here. Us locals don't get out here too much, but its such a great spot! Been great to get to know you over the past few days. We'll look after this one for ya! TFTC
