This was among one of the first caches I attempted since moving to Canberra and introduced me to a location that I've since returned to several times - I'm definitely a fan! There's some otherworldly quality about it that I'm very fond of and just relaxing against the slope of the wall is very peaceful indeed.Alas, our first scouring of gz in February failed to reveal anything outside of some thoroughly beaten reeds following whatever weather had swept through the area.Today, it was lovely to return once more (via the free bus!) and take a moment to stop by the Skyspace before wandering over to gz and finding that it's been done up very nicely with some mulch and TLC.The cache has also evidently received some TLC since then and was a much quicker find once I ignored the bugs that were keen to greet me at gz.Thanks to Tankengine for placing this multi here! Smile

Thanks for the cache!

I dont remember when I visited the sky space and did the calculations to derive GZ for this multi. Nonetheless, I did and had stored my results for another day. Today was that day, with the final location being along my route for this mornings jog. Once there, the hint made for a short search. A bit of a reach to retrieve the hide, then some effort for my slightly frozen fingers to open up the cache. Log signed and then the reverse process to tuck it back in place. A well concealed hide, in good order. Thanks Tankengine Smile--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------In the spirit of reconciliation we would like to acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of country on which we geocache throughout Australia and their long lasting, and ongoing connections to land, sea and community. Day 23 of my interstate trip. Today was my second day in Canberra and made my way around the Parliament House area on foot picking up what I could while doing a few tourist things as well.. I managed to find 20 caches today and only 1 DNF.This cache.... done the required counting made my way to the final location eventually spotted it then got it out but struggled to get it back in there. Before I managed to get it away I dropped it rolls down further under and me being a bigger person really struggled to get it out again but managed to eventually get it out again and finally screw it back in. I'm sure I walked around the rest of the day with a big dirt mark on my back but hay at least I got the find ands wont soon forget this one. It was a cool location worth a visit.TFTC Tankengine

We had no idea this place existed, yet it is quite entrancing and rather special. We sat and looked for some time before collecting the required information. Off to GZ and we were most grateful for the clue, but the retrieval was still difficult. There was a bit of a break in the cold spell today and the sun was out much earlier and things warmed up, even though the temperature only got to 13 degrees. We had been keen to ride our bikes round Lake Burley Griffin so today was the day. We only made it to the Farmer's Market on our first attempt then had to return to the van with our purchases! With that done it was back out to firstly catch the tram into town and then the ride round the lake. On our way round we picked up a variety of caches, trads, multis, puzzles and quite a number of Virtuals. Some were straightforward while others challenging.Lunch at the National Portrait Gallery was welcome. We made it home just as the sun was settingThank you for your efforts in creating and maintaining the cache Tankengine.**SKI Pair****

This one was solved a while ago, and thanks for bringing me to a place that I hadn't visited before. I liked this one. A quick find this morning on the way to work. TFTC

Not my favourite bit of art. Quick solve and find. Did the virtual while we were here. Today was all about Capital Hill and the area to the lake. About 10 km walked today ( at least ). Adventure labs, virtuals, earthcaches, multis, wherigo and trads plus the odd puzzle were targeted on the walk. some we just didn't have the time for. We walked for over 8 hours. Some interesting history was sighted along the way. quick find.Found with Mogni. Myself and mogni are headed off to canberra on the " I missed the Capital GeoBash Mega " holiday, since last minute family problems came in to play and we had to adjust our plans by a few weeks. On the way over we targeted multi's, wherigo's and puzzles to make sure we had 25 in each or at least close to that total ( or more ) as possible, getting as many new New South Wales LGA's as possible, the 17th most favourite point NSW cache and every cache size in New South Wales. In the ACT it was getting 2 of the 5 oldest letterboxes, oldest wherigo in Australia, 2nd oldest earthcache ( with a side trip to get the oldest earthcache of course ), and ACT oldest cache too. I also hosted a CITO and planned on getting every different cache type i could and eevry different cache size as well. I also needed 9 more virtuals this trip to get my virtual count over 100. Finally canberra was far enough away from from house to complete the well aged well travelled cacher 0 to 1000 kms with a cache every 10 km's ( i only need 7 more caches to complete )Leaving the ACT it was going via Victoria to get there last active web cam cache and slowly getting a total of 20 finds in each LGA i passed through if i had enough time plus also hosting a CITO in Victoria as well. A busy 11 days. Trust me by the end of the holiday you would have thought the 6 meter ladder weighed more than 13 kg's to amount of times it was used or carried up hills or over creeks. If your cache was found with a broken container/lid it was replaced or if the log was full it was replaced or a extra log if the container was big enough ( except for nano's, do your own maintenance on nano's.

Day #8 Geobashing It was our last day in Canberra, so OzHockeyChick and I made a must do list all over Canberra for our last day. We werent going to let the weather stop us.A very interesting place to visit and we sat and enjoyed the peace at this location before setting about our maths task. The coordinates fell into place and soon after we had a cache in hand. Well worth a favourite for bringing me to a space I had not visited before.A big thanks goes to Tankengine for taking the time to add Sky Space to the geocaching map for us all to find and enjoy.----------------------------------------------------------Looking for caches to find when visiting Victoria? Full time Nomads, travelling around Australia since 2014. Headed into the city again with the bikes on the back of the geocruiser as it's a publich holiday, making parking a bit easier.Bumped into Ian&Sue-Team Pathfinder, Lachlan1.77, weirdobiker, TeamAstro, Crystalfairy and barefootguru on the hunt today. Then off to the CITO to round out our busy day.Misunderstood 1 of the questions which had us in a flurry, but with the help of a friend we were pointed elsewhere and the crafty cache was soon in hand.TFTC Tankengine Cool

Such a tranquil place. We are in Canberra enjoying the GeoBash and making the most of exploring new areas. As we relaxed in the cool chamber, the numbers were calculated, then it was a short stroll to GZ.Thanks Tankengine for highlighting this amazing location for us.

Woo Hoo I found Sky Space today while in Canberra for the Capital GeoBash. Thanks Tankengine for setting up this great multi and bring me to the Sculpture Garden, I really enjoyed the art around this area and the hunt for GZ was fun.PS: The Troll Dolls [TN6TR0] were with me on my great caching adventures today.

That GZ was a bit cray cray lol. Glad I had my bike helmet ?? on. Thanks for a fun cache

We heard about a Mega in Canberra a year ago. Having never been to the big capital, we booked our accommodation and the planning began.Which caches shall we do? Wow they really love their mystery caches in ACT! Ok, we need to get our thinking caps on and solve some of these puzzles pronto. We have made the trek from Adelaide to be here and appreciate the efforts of all those involved to make the Capital Geobash happen. We have hired bikes to ride around the lake today.

31-Mar-24
Another fantastic day here in Canberra, the locals have certainly turned the wonderful weather for the event, maybe they had a chat with the Lord Above. We did not find many caches today but they certainly are quality caches. We signed a couple of challenge caches that we do not qualify for but found many others that we do qualify for and signed. So many caches and we will never get anywhere near solving or finding a small percentage of them. SL TFTC

Found 31 Mar 2024 at 2:27:53pmOut and about on a cycling tour of part of Lake Burley Griffin with Team_Crumble in a beautiful sunny day. We cycled about 20km today, picking up a few caches as we went.Tricky gathering numbers at the listed cords due to so many muggles, but we got there in the end and a nice quick find once at GZ.Many thanks to Tankengine for placing Sky Space for us all to find

During our weeks trip with Bare Foot Guru, Infoferret and Trinity to the Canberra Mega we logged as a combination of "BFG, CF, BIC, BITC" depending on who we were caching with at the time. The trip took us on a flight to Melbourne first, then a drive to Canberra, followed by a drive to Sydney before flying out again. Where possible I will add commentary to each find about the cache. Thanks for all the caches, hides and effort put into hiding and maintaining them.Great set of Ad Labs and we soon had some co-ords in hand.. Got to GZ and searched as per the hint but nothing to be found.A little deeper search and we found the cache. It was quite tricky to extract from it's location and as we were signing it a local security guard came to investigate. They had heard about caching but were more interested in telling us about the art. Had a good chat, replaced the cache and moved on. FP awarded for cache container.

As part of the tour group, we walked a ton of miles and signed all the caches as LT2. Wow! This multi ended in an incredible hide. I'm pretty sure that, had I been alone, I never would have found it. Buckle up for this final, folks. Thank you for the smiley and the fun!The day:Today was day 3 of my time in Canberra for the GeoBash Mega from the U.S. and getting to spend time with my friends. Hooray! It was another day that started with an awesome tour around Lake Burley Griffin. The weather was warm and the cachers were friendly. We were led by tankengine, one of the cachers who had a hand in the gadget caches at the mega, has awesome mysteries and other caches in the area. He kept us moving the entire time and we were able to get all the caches on our list. Then I attended the mega which was a lot of fun. There were so many people! The gadget caches were amazing, the adventure labs were fun, and the evening get together for trivia was a blast. Many thanks to all the geocachers who placed and continue to maintain their geocaches for folks like me to find. I know it's not always easy, but know that I appreciate you.

Exciting times over the next couple of weeks as we takeoff for the Capital GeoBash in Canberra! Its going to be a flood of Sandgropers over east, with a host of West Aussies making the trek east for the event. Im travelling with fellow Cockburn Crew members Leg5 and Barnzy12, starting in Sydney and hitting the road to Canberra, before returning back to Sydney. Honourary mention to our fellow member, Cravo10, who couldnt make it after recently introducing a new geocacher to the world the week prior. Once in Canberra, the agenda is set, well team up with a host of Western Australians to conquer caches. Collectively, were hoping to make it the biggest ever weekend for cache finding. Following the event, the journey continues back to Sydney, with a mission to clean up caches and new Local Government Areas (LGAs), ensuring no cache is left unturned in this epic geocaching adventure. Something tells me that well need a holiday after this, well, holiday. All logs have been signed as WAC to save space, abbreviation for Western Australia Crew. Cheers Tankengine! The Cockburn Crew are on tour at the Capital Geobash in Canberra - travelling from Perth to Sydney, Canberra, Sydney and finally back to Perth.Today was day 2 and we had an absolute blast. After being up late last night we backed it up again this morning with an early start to make the most of the cooler weather and lack of muggles in the morning cold. We completed a huge number of trails, challenges, whereigos, traditional, multis, earthcaches, labs, virtuals and puzzles. It really was a great day for variety. We enjoyed the large number of virtuals, and caching in territory we havent been before. Weve filled our boots with some of the oldest caches in Australia, some rare DTs and DTTs and generally had a great time. Thanks to the COs for a great day and event.

The Adelaide Leap Day Mega and Canberra Geobash gave us a great excuse for a road trip. This trip has shown us so many new and interesting places as weve chased LGAs, oldies, challenges, interesting D/T combinations, rarer cache types and favourites.Meeting up with friends old and new along the way, we sometimes cached together and sometimes alone but always had a great time.Today we drove all over Canberra, firstly filling a couple of D/T grid squares before focusing on finding favourites. Afterwards we took a tour around Lake Burley Griffin in this superb walking weather. Some wonderful places visited and caches found, it was a most enjoyable way to spend the day. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for us and adding to our enjoyment.

Well, for someone that has not bothered to do anything geocaching related for a while I seem to be going out of the way to do Mega events. This particular caching trip was the brainchild of the other participant in this little excursion, that being greencordial. I flew into Toowoomba this morning hoping that the car gremlins had departed (they hadnt, but were sorted with another quick mechanical visit) and we were on our ways to Canberra. Fingers crossed I did enjoy all of the elements to this. Thanks Tankengine for placing this Multi-Cache for me to convert into a smilie

Thank you to our fellow geocaching acquaintance who kindly helped us by walking around the circle and counting. I am so sorry that I forgot your name but you were so lovely ??Greencordial asked BenM70 to do up a caching found template while she is doing the driving and Im doing duck all. Im actually just pressing the screen randomly like Im actually enthused to be doing this. Anyways, we are visiting the national capital to attend Grrencordial2nd mega as I got scared by Covid for Dayboro and didnt take the punt that Townsvilles coolest cachers BenM70 and burgo78 did. Cache found and extracted. That is a neat hide. The trip bit.Easter geocaching festival of twenty twenty four. This time it is the turn of Oz Mega GeoBash MEGA event in the nation's capital. It is time for a road trip across country to Canberra in the Sporty Pajero Sports. Freddo and Gridge98 traveling from Adelaide via a strange inland route that takes in scenic rural locations, dusty roads, punctured tyres, overheating batteries, various tools of the trade, special campgrounds, and lots scope for many many geocaching finds. Along the way we saw running emus, jumping kangaroos, wandering deer, dead foxes, herds of wooly sheep and stray steers.Arriving in Canberra we met our colleagues e.gregory1, featherwaite, team walron, courtney rose, davidwazza, e_smilie, and georode, signing as ABP, plus a huge group of other like minded excited mega geocachers attending event after event, and more events.Day one. Find # 8,641 for me on 27 Mar 2024 at 3:09pm. This cache was found on our Canberra Mega adventure. After leaving Melbourne with PamJ in our little caravan, the plan is to stay a couple of nights at Bemm River, then a few more at Pambula before cruising into Canberra. This cache was found as part of this journey. Loved everything about this one. Fav point from me. Thanks Tankengine, for giving back to the game.*Found with [Geooh GO](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobiltal.geoohGO)*

Loved venturing into the Skyspace and looking up at the sky before looking down to do some counting.GZ looked likely, although it seems there's been a bit of rain here recently that may have caused some chaos in the area. Our corner rock checks revealed nothing, so we moved on for today (though I do hope to return!)

My todays plan was visiting National Gallery of Australia and parks around. Canberra is interesting city. There are only a few peoples now on Christmas time. The Gallery was good and than I walked through the park with many monuments and other important institutions like National Archives, Hight Court, Old Parliament etc. I found some caches there, mostly virtual. Late afternoon I go back to North Canberra for another challenge caches. Thanks for all caches and greetings from Czech republic. This is a very interesting sculpture. I like it.

Find #2500 in Australia!!!!! My first find in Australia was in Brisbane more than nine years ago, and since then, caching has taken me from the northeast corner at Cape York to the southeast corner at Augusta. I've been through the middle of the Outback, across Tasmania, and over to Lord Howe Island in search of a great many finds. Since then I've found caches in more than 300 local government areas (LGAs) in every state and territory in the country. I'm wholeheartedly ready for at least another 2,500 finds in Terra Australis!

A little too early in the day to be enjoying something spectacular in the sky from the starting point, but it's always pleasant to visit the dome. With the info I needed, I was off to GZ where the cache was located quickly. Big GrinI was sat minding my own business (well, signing the log) when a couple of muggles passed and likely wondered why on earth I had chosen to sit 'there' with my feet over the edge, but I heard no mutterings and I detected no sideways glances, so once the coast was clear I moved back in for replacement. WinkA nicely constructed multi and a great excuse to revisit a pleasant location. A favourite point for the experience.Cheers Tankengine.

Im not sure I why I didnt do anything about looking for this cache last time I was here. I really like this artwork too. Anyway, found the info today and then crossed paths with GZ somewhere along my path today. I was joined in the hunt by a currawong who sat patiently next to me hoping for some food which I didnt have. Sorry I cant post the photo or it will give the hide away. Thanks!

It was very peaceful sitting inside, counting tiles while also wondering what was keeping StreetWalkerNZ. He was near the outer entrance, wondering where I was, not realising that around the corner was a hidden entrance. He eventually found me!
I must have counted correctly because a short walk later, we were signing the log book. Really enjoyed this artwork. TFTC.

#22465. The last caching task to do while sitting at GZ was to work out where this final was. It was nearby (though a direct route was out of the question). Cache was soon spotted once we got to GZ. Another nicely done cache. TFTC.

Sims_family and Dromaniax are on day Eight of a our 10 day trip to Queensland and back again towing a 12x8x7 foot trailer that is loaded to the hilt and weighs quite a bit. Fuel efficiency has gone out the window with the Ginja Ninja (My Orange Mitsubishi Triton) going through fuel faster than I have ever seen before.
Day Eight sees us travel from Woolongong to Canberra. Making to Canberra early enough we made hast towards the Skyspace to make it inside while it was open. Last time we were here it was closed and we were keen to see inside. With the cloud cover we were amazed on how it looked like the moon today. The seat was nice surprise when we sat beautiful and warm on a cool day.
While visiting for the Virtual we couldn't resist the Multi while we were here so we did the numbers and headed to GZ straight after.
Thank you Tankengine for a nice Multi

Today is the eighth day of the Sims_family/Dromaniax big road trip to Queensland and back again.

We are towing a very big trailer, which is chockers, but when you have a mission, and someone else is paying for the fuel, and there is the opportunity for nine days of caching fresh fields, you jump at the chance.

We have a long list of target caches and hope to cross quite a few goals off the list on this trip.

We picked up this Multicache while we were completing the Virtual nearby.

Thank you Tankengine for this Multicache.

We are visiting Australia from Florida, USA for a multi-week vacation which will have us visiting two states in Australia (Tasmania and the ACT) we missed in 2014 followed by 28 days on the Ovation of the Seas including New Zealand and a Transpacific to Honolulu, Hawaii, USA.

Today was our tenth day of the trip, we would spend the day walking around Capital Hill and the Australian War Memorial area logging around 12 miles. Our main focus was 14 Virtual caches and 15+ Adventure Lab sets which took us between our Virtual caches,

Must had made a slight mistake in plugging in the coordinates, however it was close enough to see where we really needed to be, thanks for a fun multi. tftc!!

Chook has been in Canberra this week, up from western Vic. This afternoon she had the opportunity to wander around the south shore / parliamentary precinct area, doing lots of labs and virtuals and caches. Hardly anyone around, which was really surprising, given it was a beautiful Saturday in the Autumn sunshine. Made it easy for caching though.

This is one of the best public artworks in Canberra. I had been here earlier in the week with the group I had been hiking the CCT with, but it was a pleasure to revisit the day do this multi. Tiles counted, coords calculated, and the czche was found in good condition exactly where it was meant to be. Will definitely bring Chunk back here next year at Mega time.
