The time has come to say goodbye. Thank you for the fun and information for the past 15 years. GeopopsNZ signing out
Visiting MaalganaNZ and family who were staying in Mistletoe Bay. We were lucky enough to have a HUGE New Zealand falcon/krearea swoop down in front of us, just a few metres away, to grab a mouse it had obviously been keeping an eye on. Clearly, it was more focused on securing its dinner than concerning itself with humans walking nearby. It dived down, grabbed the unlucky mouse, gave us a quick steely look, then a clear view of it's furry, light grey undercarriage, and fly-sauntered leisurely off, dinner secured, in a few seconds. Very special to see (less fun for the mouse!). A nice easy cache to find. FP for the scenic location and the memorable wildlife interaction. TFTC geopopnz
Spending the night at the campground whilst helping out with an E3 adventure camp. Nice quick find after a swim off the jetty! TFTC
Really good find. It's a little fun thing to do while you camp at Mistletoe Bay.#SevenSons
We walked one day of the Queen Charlotte Track yesterday, and are staying here for a couple of nights. Bloody hot today - lazing around, as it's 31 degrees! Thanks!
Merry Xmas everyone. Found this cache while staying at family batch just round the bay for Christmas Day. TFTC!
Since I am tramping the Queen Charlotte track I decided to pop over to this one because we had lunch at Mistletoe Bay and pretty easy find-tftc
After I knocked off the north island and 1700 km down we crossed te straight and head for the start of the south island leg of the Te Araroa and it feels great to be walking on the south island again.

Staying at Mistletoe Bay for a wedding and nabbed the caches in the area while there, because why wouldn't you?
Hoped to grab this cache before the wedding on Saturday but it poured with torrential rain all day. The wedding was still magical though, with some of the photos being taken near GZ.
Sunday morning, we went out bright and early to the pontoon. Miss 14 (Gabzter13) frolicked on the pontoon while GeoHubby (GNARwhal) made the find at GZ. A wedding-muggle came along while we were signing the log. He knew a little bit about Geocaching but declined to sign up on the spot to join the ritual.
After this we were off for a walk down the peninsula.

In this particularly lovely wee spot for a family wedding.
It rained, it poured, but the newlyweds to be came up with a brilliant plan, and the day was saved!

Found with Tregearp on a couple of days paddling. Paddled out from Momarangi Bay this afternoon and staying in the local facilities. Wandered down after settling in for a quick find. All in good order, signed log and replaced as found. Thanks geopopnz for a cache in such a stunning GZ.
SJT_NZ are out for a weekend paddling in the Sounds, staying at Mistletoe Bay so grabbed this one after kayaking in and sorting out accommodation. A short walk to balance out the lower body exercise for the day. Thanks geopopnz, a suitable place for the hide and all in very good order.
For 3 days the 5 3Pearnuts searched high, low, under, over every man-made structure in the vicinity of GZ. No trace of a cache. Maybe its been muggled, maybe its been washed away, maybe we just didn't look in the right place. Beautiful spot though!
We have been driving for hours around Keneperu Sound including Ellie Bay and Waimaru. stopped in here on our way home to capture this elusive one. Last time I was here there were too many muggles and the time before lots of stuff in here. Today it was easy finding it on the ground so got it tagged quickly and reinstated back to hide site. Cheers. Time to get home, with a diversion to Moetapu Bay.
My weekend arrangements have been postponed. So what else can I do? Check out with The Seagnoid for a trip to Keneperu Sounds for the day. Yes! Leave in the dark just after 6am and home after a great day exploring and caching at 6pm.

Stopped by here to help the dragon find this cache, she had trouble with it recently. Wow. That was easy. It was sitting on the ground. Once it was signed I returned it back to where it should be.
Taybeedragon rings me up - her Saturday got cancelled so how about a trip. Okay, I am in. I was going to research and write up about 15 new caches this weekend, some of which take many hours to write, so a bit of mind-numbing tedium. Dropping that to one day and finding a bunch on the other day sounds like just the tonic.

Found this on our TA thru-hike. Staying here tonight; wading in the water at dusk we saw a Sting Ray passing back and forth across the cove. Really cool spot! Expensive camping for the Queen Charlotte Track, but I'm glad we came.
Skaffen and Diziet found this, after some scrambling in the wrong place, under purple dusk skies. TFTC.
Me and the kids were out in the Sounds for a couple of days so popped over the ridge for this one and the other. Took quite a bit of searching high and low but one of the previous logs gave an idea and there it was. This is a popular school camp location so a familiar place for us.
Found with geoharry8 and others after a looking for a while in the wrong place... biggest manmade object would be an accurate description! TFTC
Visiting while staying just down the road. Lovely spot, well worth a look around. TFTC.
Well I sat within 5 metres of this for half an hour before I thought, I wondering if there's a Geocache here. Of course there is! Found easily. A very hot day so decided to stay sitting in the hut in the shade while the kids continued swimming. We drove here and are camping the night. We hope to see some phosphorus in the water tonight here. TFTC.
This is the place to be in summer time. Wonderful bay and camping, good hiding place, tftc
Found while tramping the Queen Charlotte Track. Beautiful spot to stay the night. Tftc
We were on a tight timeframe but still no idea why we couldn't find it. We will be back as there are a couple of walks we want to do nearby.
Here for a school trip, much excitement in our group when we found it! May have recruited a few new cachers! TFTC
Now, one of the first things I did when I found out I'd been selected to help out with HorsegirlNZ's school class camp to Mistletoe Bay was to spin up a couple of pocket queries to see the level of geocaching 'sanity' I could expect to be able to have during our stay.
Well waddya know! A cache right there. I'll take that, and so I did.
A rainy afternoon meant that water-based activities were postponed but that gave me the opportunity to duck out for a few minutes for a look here.
I soon got my bearings and then quickly found the cache in one of only a couple of places it would really be.
A nice hide in a nice location. Thanks

Found this while on a sailing trip for a friend's birthday. We stopped at mistletoe bay for coffee and ice cream and enjoyed a swim as well. Tftc!

After having walked from Anakiwa to Mistletoe Bay, we had a swim and prolonged rest instead of the initial plan to walk the same way back. Our group's trailrunner ran back instead and came to pick us up with the Dirty Duncan (our trusty companion - Toyota Hiace Supercustom).
Meanwhile I went to find this cache barefoot. The way to it was much more rocky than I expected though.
Thanks for the cache and greetings from Latvia!

Had us guessing for a bit but found it! Thanks sea kayak adventures for loaning us the kayaks to get this one!!
A straightforward find while walking the Queen Charlotte Track.
Thank you geopopnz for this cache.

An unexpected cache find ... while being transferred back from Anakiwa to Picton after completing the Queen Charlotte Track. The taxi stopped here to pick up some people, who were not there. The skipper went on shore to look for them, which gave me the chance to quickly go for this cache. My friend found this cache. TFTC
NZDi and I booked a holiday home in Broughton Bay for six days for a family holiday to get over the madness that is Christmas. Our daughter and her partner and our son and his wife and our granddaughter were all present for some of the time and as such the focus was on family rather than caching.
However we still managed to find time to get 25 caches along with three DNFs (Grrr) in the time we were away without impacting too much on the family focus of the break.
Day four of our holiday and it was time to head over to Mistletoe Bay for this cache. We had made a previous attempt on it on Waitangi Day last year but there was a muggle right at GZ who spoiled our attempt. Today the weather was less conducive to watersports and there were no muggles around. The search took a little bit longer than anticipated due to previous finder/s not knowing their East from their West. When we replaced the cache we made sure the next searchers won't have the same problem.

[green] What a day! First I decide to go to the sounds, mainly to do two caches that I had missed earlier, and place one while I was out that way, Then I find I have a corrupted load in my GPS, I can navigate, but a description or hint causes it to lock up. Luckily I have my cellphone, so I load all the caches that I might do into that, then half the time leave it in the car (which is okay, usually I don't need a hint, but reading the description is often nice). I expected the trip to up to Titirangi to be mostly dirt road and long distances, but was rather surprised at how far the seal went, and how far Titirangi isn't, really. Not that I got there. I tossed up staying the night and continuing Sunday, but decided not. Saved for another day.
Stopped by here on the way back, not being sure how to get here. Turned out all it needed was a road to be added to the map, which I have now done. What a cool camp. What is this "Eco-friendly" bit? Nothing here seems particularly eco to me. The cache was an easy find, thanks.

Possibly my fastest find. Being tall helped. Picked up our bags after walking from Portage. What a lovely spot. TFTC
Excellent wee spot...coming back to camp out and fish when the "loopies" thin out...Tftc
A great spot. Mrs W was away at the 'fire bach' with the kids for the week - made an afternoon visit to Mistletoe Bay only to run into a group from Mr Ws school there on camp! A great hide here. Couldn't be a more beautiful spot. Picked up TB. TFTC.
When I was researching caches for our trip to the Sounds, I initially disregarded this one as it looked as though it was accessible only by boat, otherwise it was a bit of a walk, but noticed that the terrain rating was low, and one of the latest logs mentioned being able to drive to GZ.
We were very pleased to see the sign "To Mistletoe Bay" on Kenepuru Rd, which confirmed this was a near drive by. Not quite, as we had to park near the shop, and walk the last few hundred metres to the cache. No big hardship as we got to have a look around the eco-village, looks like a great place to stay. Didn't take long for StreetWalker to track down the cache and it was good to find one big enough to take the TB that I picked up over a week ago. Thanks for bringing me here, really enjoyed the area. TFTC.

#10250. We enjoyed exploring Mistletoe Bay. Muggle factor was low, which was just as well as it took a bit of time to track down the well hidden cache. TFTC.
Found this cache on a day out at some bays. The sun was shining and we were getting sunburnt... Nevertheless we had an awesome time caching & sightseeing. Found this cache with capperz, refer to his log for more detail etc. Thanks for placing this cache, T F T C
Yay, it's Earthcache day and souvenir as a reward. That is unless you're greedy capperz who's already done most of the Earth Caches around and would need an epic day out just to gain some electronic bling. Oh well, a trip to Kenepuru Sounds it is and try and push my total along to 4500 so only 4 caches to get there. Weather dawned bright, clear and hot and nightowl19 was along for the trip though Tally the geo dog was left at home as a few P n Gs were planned and a few diverse walkways with assorted dogs allowed rules.
Into the Sounds for the rest of the trip and plenty of wonderful scenery to behold and remind us of how great our backyard really is
After driving all the way to G Z I made a Q E F and replaced in the nice and dry hiding place

Just doing the maintenance round for my caches this year. Visited today and now all is good for the next little while. Good hunting, cachers .
Quick find in a lovely place. We have really enjoyed our week here at mistletoe. What a great place to camp with excellent facilities and many nice people to meet. TFTC
Good hide, fairly easy to find. Muggles everywhere on this one! Such a neat wee bay.
Found with quinella previously so not too tricky. Wonder if it's a bit lower than usual? Tftc beautiful day to find it on too
