Accio 09:16:20The long drive Canberra to Brisbane, and a few LGA-stops around Sydney. Thanks The Booos for entertaining me at this location. *{Overall find #12731}*
Last of a few nighttime cache logged geofinds. Heading home shortly. Hence simple finds here and there. TFTC The Booos
I loved Australias wonderland - literally grew up down the road from it. Had the wonder pass and my friends and family would come and hang out for the day. It was the best place ever!!! My fav was the snowy river rampage ride. Easy find. The log was dry so I could write on it but I dared not unravel it. The plastic protector is no longer a bag. Tftc
Found on a quiet morning after work.In the obvious spot.I think I only went to Wonderland once, on a school excursion in the mid-late 90's.SL TFTC
I remember going to wonderland a few times back then, good memories tftc
Day 9. A last minute plan had been hatched to make my way to QOGM. Very little planning had been done but a very rough outline was in place and it was going to be a day by day trip. With my caching buddy on a plane and back home in Melbourne, it was time to start making some progress north with a likely end destination of Newcastle today.Whilst I never visited this park I do remember it being advertised as a child, and hadnt realised it was gone until now. A quick find here. Thanks The Booos for adding this cache to the worldwide collection for us all to enjoy.----------------------------------------------------------The 12 Days of Cachemas series is now live. Nice quick find in the obvious spot after a day at BWU2. I have fond memories of Australia's Wonderland as a teenager, looking up at the wooden structure of The Bush Beast creaking and swaying as people screamed above us while we queued. TFTC!
Man that’s a strong magnet. Not nice to leave the m7 cycle way but ticked it off thankyou
Loved this one. My parents said they always used to go to Wonderland and it was the best place ever. Love the hiding spot! TFTC!
On my way from Canberra to North Queensland with a few detours for shires. TFTC.
So many truck trailers along this road.

TFTC. What memories were had here. Quick find at GZ. OCW MF428. Geodog Atlas was not with us today.
Roadtrip - home. Well "half" way. I decided to add a few counties to my count on the way home. I am not going to try and do them all - I would take days to get home. Just going to the ones that are close to my planned route.
This was probably the biggest detour I had to take thanks to the new roads around Sydney. I had decided not to make any stops, but the need for caffeine steered me off the freeway. This one was handy on the way back to the tunnel.

We stopped for this drive-by because we happened to be driving-by. A straightforward find, thank you, The Booos. However, we made the mistake of arriving here on a weekday. As we drove around to get back onto Wallgrove Road, we were surrounded by semi-trailers. Dan felt intimidated. He is not used to anything being taller than him! Anyway, we survived. TFTC
Tftc. Spent many happy days at wonderland as a kid. Remember in 1988 the annual pass wa s $19.88.
Found with Commando04 on our trip to Frying Pan. We are collecting counties on our way and this should be a new county for me. Easy find. TFTC
After lots of DNFs today, was happy to finish on a good note and find this one. TFTC
It was just starting to rain, but still only lightly, so we decided to stop on our way home to grab this one.
Good one, thanks The Booos.
Good one, thanks The Booos.
Mrs shoes jumped out for this one on our way to the nearby Asics factory outlet to get Mr shoes some new shoes. TFTC.
Mum quickly jumped out and grabbed this one before going to the Asics factory. TFTC
Heading home to Brisbane after the Clear Waters Mega, with a geocache laundry list carefully compiled for collection .

Well? Where to start... caching business first. A quick find although the ants didn’t like me. Signed and replaced with ease. And as for my memories... I used to work at Wonderland for a few years while I was in high school and then went onto my tertiary studies. It was a great job. I think if it was still open today I’d have worked my way up there and stayed there. We weren’t “staff members” but rather “cast members” because “everyday was a show”. Yes, the park was fun but the real fun occurred after the gates closed! Occasionally we’d stay behind and wait for security to do their park walk and then hit the beach. I have fond memories of a water fight in staff area where I dumped a bucket of water over my not so nice manager. I mainly worked on the games and in retail and did a small stint on the rides. I remember doing a stocktake after hours. It was late. Like midnight late and we were only halfway through counting magnets and key rings and those bean filled balloon heads. We were in the plaza, the main shop, with the doors locked to the park and suddenly there was a commotion in park and security and their dogs went racing in. We heard on the radios that they thought someone had broken in but we knew. We knew who it was. A ghost. Or several actually. The story goes that convicts were murdered in the area. They hung out in Goldrush. They’d ring the phones in the games and when you answered there was silence. They’d rattle the prizes hanging from the game ceilings. You’d feel them near you and turn around only to be alone. Some of the cast claimed to have seen them walking around. Anyway, they made their way out of Goldrush and distracted the guards long enough to taunt us in the shop. The heavy glass doors were shaking and someone was banging on them. Needless to say, we were freaked out and obviously security couldn’t find anyone there. And then it just stopped. Just like that. We laughed nervously and got back to work. We made security walk us to our cars too. I won’t forget that night ever. My last amazing memory occurred on the final day we closed. I was fortunate enough to be rostered on and after the park closed we headed for the Demon. We had the last and final ride and printed out the picture. It was a sad day. We all loved our jobs. I still have the picture and my badge and my hat and so many memories. Thanks for taking me back. TFTC!

With an initial plan to have another attempt at the Heart Series of caches, a few finds were made before the heat overcame the desire to continue back to some park 'n' grabs to keep the count ticking over.
------
After parking at GZ, it took me a few minutes to make the find because I didn't look properly. Once found, the log was signed and replaced as found.

In the area today and headed out to grab a few caches and this was one of them. Very quiet today do parked near GZ and a short search and the cache was in hand.
Once the log was signed all was returned as found.
I remember taking my kids there when it first opened and then it was a regular part of life for a bit of fun every year. When I took them to Disneyland in 1992 I was excited and when I asked the kids what they thought and I can still remember my daughter saying, "It's just like Wonderland Dad." [8)] It would have been cheaper to go to Wonderland too!
TFTC The Booos
I took along some trackables for a visit.

#2351 well over the years I have been caching I have looked a lot of times but never found it. Today was so much different, I parked up the road to get some steps and got swooped by a magpie, what was that for, then it swooped me again. What??? Then swoop click. Oh try that spot. Walked to the end of the road & I put my hand on it in the first place I checked

Tried not to look too suspicious in a location that I had no good reason to be. Fortunately the find was quick and I was off before any confrontation. TFTC

I've been here before and recall that I found the cache then ... but it appears not since there's no smiley on my map ... either that or I forgot to log the find then, which is quite possible. Anyway, it doesn't really matter now ... the new log has my moniker on it and this log gets the smiley on my map.
Thanks for the cache Booos ... it's interesting coming to Wonderland now, so different to what it was back in the day.

No good for me today,
Looks like it may have gone,

Too many folks sitting in cars to be comfortable continuing the search, will have to be another one for a weekend .
I spotted the likely place but Pizza_Steve dismissed it - after more searching and previous log reading it was confirmed that were l originally thought the cache could be is actually where it is! Retrieved cache container with the aid of a tool, signed the log and replaced as found. TFTC The Booos!
I can't even remember where anything was when it comes to wonderland. It's a shame that there are no remains of what once was.
