Cleverly hidden and in a great condition! Many thanks for adding to todays adventure. Sure is breezy up here today! Ive been up this track a couple of times pre being introduced to this mad sport. Once from the Catchpool carpark, and once (like today) from the cemetery/garden of Remembrance in Wainuiomata. Never as much wind as today though! Appreciate your mahi in maintaining these hides. Many thanks again

Yup, walked right by it. Keep a good eye up for view point in the trees!!!

This was the third stop on a maintenance run to refresh all my caches along this ridge. As with most of these, the container had water in it and the logbook was sodden and disintegrating despite having been inside a plastic bag. The old contents have been removed except for a few plastic items which have been dried and replaced. The old 1 litre snaplock container has been replaced with a new 2 litre Sistema one with a smaller snaplock container inside that. The new waterproof logbook is in the inner container in a plastic bag. Hopefully any future water ingress will be only to the outer container and the contents of the inner one will be protected. All good to go, happy caching!

Searched very briefly during a trip from Catchpool through to Wainui but no joy There was no South Coast View available at the location we searched so maybe we had the wrong spot Thanks anyway

Up we go! We were ready for a snack stop here so had a quick bite after finding the box. Poured some water out of the container and too wet to sign unfortunately. But enjoying the views and the new track for us. Thanks for the placement Smile

Log too wet to sign. Photo instead. Forgot our east and west. TFTC!

I recently started volunteering for the Remutaka Conservation Trust, helping to look after a line of Doc200 traps along these ways. This is my third visit up this track to my assigned trapline, and I thought I'd stop to grab a geocache along the way. I actually tried to find this one last time, but somehow my GPS started playing up so I kept walking hoping it would settle later and I could find another cache (which I did). Today, strangely enough, the GPs did the same thing! As I came back up the side spur after finishing the trap line check, the GPS said I was 150m down the hill towards Wainui instead of on the track. I could see the cache was not far from one of my marked tracks on the GPS, so I used that knowledge and the hint to locate the cache. Unable to sign the logbook as everything is sodden in there.

Well found by Ross I was on it but on the wrong side. Our last found cache of the day. Too tired to search for more. Catchpool to Sunny Grove 14 k 6 hours all up. TFTC

An excellent day up on the ridge with near perfect weather and a great trail. The cache was in the second place I looked so it was nice to find one quite quickly for a change. TFTC.

Nice view today but the wind was quite cold despite being a Northerly. GSEL's covering was great and not too obvious so replaced it the same way afterwards.

FP for the great view and for providing an excuse to come out this way.

#5468. Saturday dawned fine and clear with light winds. Time to head out into the bush and do another Welly Climbs cache and get some exercise climbing the hills around Wellington. I have never climbed Mt McKerrow before so that was a target cache of the day. All up 34,000 steps achieved so the legs have been pumping. Great views in places and some lovely tall forest of rimu, rata and kamahi plus some open groves of hard, silver and black beech. Nice variety. A good long steady climb up to this cache with the track gradient easing off after the Way to McKerrow cache. The easiest find of the day as the cache was sitting out in the open. Seems muggles pausing to look at the view have encountered it. Had some extra non-geocaching names added to the log. Signed the logbook and then looked for a suitable place to hide the container. There wasn't anywhere other than the original spot that really matched the hint so just made sure it was well covered under some wood and sticks. Thanks for hiding it here agcnz. By the way, thanks for the exceptionally well written cache descriptions for the ones placed along this trail.

This was a nice quick find although I don't think I have seen a cache positioned quite like this before. I now wonder why not as it seems very effective. No sign of any geocoin, unfortunately.

On the return journey, I noticed that a small portion of the container could be seen from the track. I looked into the viability of moving it slightly but decided it was best to leave it as it was. In any case, I think any passing muggles will be needing to carefully watch where they are placing their feet at the point where the cache becomes visible.

Found on a club trip from the Harry Tod Recreational Reserve up to Mt McKerrow and back down onto the Coast Road south of the Camp. A nice walk. TFTC

Came up from Willis Grove, with the aim of doing a circuit up Mt Crowther and across to the McKerrow Track. Was hoping to do all four caches on this part of the ridge before returning to Sunny Grove, but the track was a lot slower going than I expected (lots of mud!), and I only had a couple of hours (running time), so I turned around after this one, and headed back north through the mud and bogs.

Another straight forward find, nicely hidden. I didn't notice the geocoin - I didn't look for it though. TFTC.

Made good progress from the last one and this one proved to be the easiest one to find. Another lovely location, and really enjoyed the walk along the top here again. TFTC agcnz, #7537, gets a fav from us. Placed geocoin.

#5993. We had a good day tramp from Sunny Grove to Clay Ridge Track and return. Great views at GZ. It was not far to go to get to the top now. Quick find. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log. Thanks for the cache.

Next one for the day - another quick find exactly at the mark. Fantastic views from up here. TFTC !

I’m not sure where the nasty weather forecast for today got too! At 12 O’clock we had blue skies with white puffy cumulus clouds floating merrily by. So I decided to take a walk. I left “Sunny” Grove at about 1:30 and as I like to do walked to this the furthest one first and then made my way back stopping off to find the others as I went. The cache was quickly found, and after devouring my sammies, I headed back enjoying the views, the bush and the mud. Although I’d been up here before I thoroughly enjoyed my return visit this afternoon. Cheers and TFTC

Last one for the day before the long walk... downhill!! TFTC

Cache #934 - and last for the day. Both Downunder Wanderer and I realised we didn't have time to continue on and grab the last two, so will have to do them another day, probably from the other side. This was a quick find, swapped out a magnet and in a recorder (the instrument type). Thanks for planting these caches and giving us a fantastic workout!

Another quick find on my way up Mt McKerrow. Wow, what a lovely track and fantastic views! Saw and heard very few birds today, the most noise coming from the flies! Thanks for bringing my attention to this walk. TFTC!

No 4 for the day on a mass geo cache grab of the RFP whilst back in the valley on holiday.

Quick jaunt out from the summit to bag this one, the last in the McKerrow series for me!

The GPS initially had us slightly further up the track, quick trip back and the cache was in hand.

Another great spot to stop to enjoy the views.

GPS was all over the place for this one but located OK with the help of the hint. Quite a bit of mud through here today even though it was a lovely fine winter's day. TFTC

Lunch stop and some views to go with it. Enjoying this track. TFTC

Fairly quick find, great introducing some new people to caching too. TFTC

One of 5 during a caching romp along the McKerrow ridge. Track much boggier in places than we had expected, so lots of mud running to be had. Fantastically still and fine day meant that the views were spectacular. We did the climb up from Sunny Grove, and trekked as far along as the Clay Ridge Views cache, then did a U turn and retraced our steps. In all, with photo stops, lunch and rest stops (not too many of these), we took around 5 and half hours for the return trip.

Cache find was pretty straightforward, all in order, signed the log and rebidden safely, as found.

FTF 1610 Big Grin. The gps sent me a wee way past the cache before changing its mind. However once it did, the cache was a quick find. This was the turn around point for my days ramble as while the next caches were not to much further up, I was traveling light and didn't fancy walking back in the dark. I left Sunny Grove at 14:35hrs and after a quickish (50min) return journey I was back at the car at 17:10hrs. A very enjoyable walk in a great location to which I had not previously been to. Quite a fitting first outing to contribute to the requirements for GC2XBA7 - Rambler's Reward Challenge Cache (Dunedin, Otago).
Thanks to agcnz for releasing this series of caches and bringing me here to enjoy the area - I look foward to the return visit to get the other caches along the track. TFTC

Please dont take out the TB in the cache, it was sended to me. Will pick it up soon.

Was out and about helping agcnz place a few caches along this track and after taking a pew at the last placement I had a bit more energy to make my way to this cache site, decided that this was another great spot for a cache as it had great views of the south coast. Have being meaning to do the McKerrow track for such a long time that when I got the offer from agcnz saying that he was going to up to McKerrow to check on the cache GC1BDM2 - OO's Mt McKerrow Cache (Wellington) which he had just adopted not long ago and was wondering if I was interested in coming along for the walk, now how could I refuse such a nice offer and also a chance to get some exercise in as well. Arriving at GZ and we found this lovely spot that really required a cache so decided to help agcnz in grabbing some co-ordinates and giving me a chance to get my breath back before moving on up the track. What a great little spot for a cache, thanks for placing it here and making me do some more aerobic exercise and giving both Hurricane Luke and you the opportunity to have a good walk. Thanks for placing the cache here and for bringing me to this lovely spot, TFTC TNLNSL (4313)

Find #1193. The final cache before Mt McKerrow itself - in another spot with great views - this time looking predominantly west across to Wellington & possibly the South Island if you had good enough eyesight! I was surprised to see I had reception here, despite remarks from both agcnz and Yeetrees that it was to be expected. My usual rule of thumb up until now has been EXPECT NOTHING from Vodafone! Big Grin.

I think I much prefer the flora that exists at higher altitudes rather than lower around here - the moss stained trees tend to look rather unnatural and make for great photos if you have a nice enough camera. Thanks agcnz for another great cache! SL TFTC.
