GT37 and I ventured out hoping that the rain would hold off for long enough for us to grab some caches. It did but not for long so only a few caches were found today. Glad that we managed to find this pre it being archived. Thank you for placing this cache for us to find.

I genuinely don't think I have ever driven this far before without passing a SINGLE cache. But if you leave Griffith NSW, and follow the direct route to this cache, you will not pass a single other cache until you reach this one after 1 hour and 15 minutes! Of course this is common in other parts of rural Australia, just never anywhere I have been!

So, there was no way I could miss this cache! I was driving between Griffith - Shepparton and this was the first cache on the route.

A quick find upon arrival, I then checked out the creek nearby which was nice!

Thanks

Now, this was a challenge!
I dropped in here on my way to Melbourne to log this cache, however, a couple of caravanners made things difficult.
On the way back, I didn't have the cache loaded in my phone and there was no reception.
So, on went the sneaky hat and I thought: where would I hide a cache?
On the second look, there it was!
Thank you so much for a fantastic little challenge!

This a great spot to stop with the van on.. If it was later in the day ,we would stop here to the night. Tftc

#949 On my way home from Griffith, found the container exposed and looking like rubbish. I was surprised to find this particular container was the cache when I was lead to a likely GZ by my GPS phone app. Anyway another smiley and thanks to malleechick (or is it aggiesaunt?) for making me stop here after many crossings of Yanco Creek over the years. Container is now placed in a nearby hidey hole with appropriate camouflage.

Cache was just sitting on the ground so easy find! Put it a bit harder and less obvious so it does not end up in the bin. TFTC

Why don't we go up the Kidman Way? we said 10kms past the turnoff on the Newell Highway. So we turned around. We'd been driving all day and we arrived here - an empty rest area by the creek. We didn't leave till 7.30 next morning. TFTC malleechick

61 left to find.

Day 2 of KmanNZ NSW/VIC Summer Roadtrip 2018. Tocumwal to Wagga Wagga via Griffith. Hot as hell, glad to have air con. Goal is to reach 1000 finds for this calendar year.

***NO CLUES OR HINTS IN THE FOLLOWING TEXT***

Since moving from New Zealand in 2016 I have been enjoying the area, exploring and finding caches.
So far I’ve knocked off 4 of the states. VIC, SA, NSW and A.C.T all multiple times.
No two areas are the same here and almost every place I go to is stunning. The beauty of caching is that it takes you to so many places you would never usually find.
Thank you to all the cachers out there for hiding and maintaining their caches. Especially to those who put so much effort into creating unique and fun hides.
I enjoy finding well maintained caches in fun and unique cache containers. No one likes finding a mint tin – but a find is a find after all.
I’m currently working on a Project-GC challenge to get the average word count on my logs over 200 words.
So please ignore the rest of this log as it is just nonsense and song lyrics.
Well she was an American girl
Raised on promises
She couldn't help thinkin' that there
Was a little more to life
Somewhere else
After all it was a great big world
With lots of places to run to
Yeah, and if she had to die
Tryin' she, had one little promise
She was gonna keep
Oh yeah, all right
Take it easy baby
Make it last all night
She was an American girl
Well, It was kind of cold that night
She stood alone on her balcony
She could hear the cars roll by
Out on 441
Like waves crashin' on the beach
And for one desperate moment there
He crept back in her memory
God it's so painful, when
Something that's so close
And still so far out of reach
Oh yeah, all right
Take it easy baby
Make it last all night
She was an American girl
Well I'm a-runnin' down the road try'n to loosen my load
I've got seven women on my mind
Four that want to own me, two that want to stone me
One says she's a friend of mine
Take it easy, take it easy
Don't let the sound of your own wheels drive you crazy
Lighten up while you still can
Don't even try to understand
Just find a place to make your stand, and take it easy
Well, I'm a standin' on a corner in Winslow, Arizona
Such a fine sight to see
It's a girl, my Lord, in a flat-bed Ford
Slowin' down to take a look at me
Come on, baby, don't say maybe
I gotta know if your sweet love is gonna save me
We may lose and we may win, though we will never be here again
So open up I'm climbin' in, so take it easy
Well, I'm a runnin' down the road tryin' to loosen my load
Got a world of trouble on my mind
Lookin' for a lover who won't blow my cover, she's so hard to find
Take it easy, take it easy
Don't let the sound of your own wheels make you crazy
Come on baby, don't say maybe
I gotta know if your sweet love is gonna save me
Oh, we got it easy
We oughta take it easy

I took the back roads from Hay to head down this way rather then the traditional highways.
Interesting country side around here, very flat but scenic as well.
Pulled into the rest stop to stretch the legs and soon found the cache.
A lot of bird life hanging around the water at the moment.
Thanks aggysaunt TFTC.

Great spot to rest.

Half the team was heading up to Barcaldine for the Queensland Outback Geocaching Muster and of course picking up some caches along the way. We are now catching up on our late logs.
it was nice to stop for a stretch here and have a look at how flat the land is. The cocky's were not happy at my arrival and kicked up a storm while I was searching. I was surprised at how much traffic was passing by today. I located the cache and added our name to the log and returned it as a caravan pulled in for a break.
Many thanks aggysaunt for showing me this area.

22-Sep-18
Across the creek of grey sludgy water, we saw this cache from the roadside, but Muggle Hubby gave it a little more concealment before we left.
Thanks for breaking our journey north to Barcaldine and adding another smiley face to our map.

Found by Mary & David at 1110. Glad that this one was replaced and we could find it today. Plenty of water in the creek too. Cockatoos screeching above us. A great Aussie bush scene. Our thanks to malleechick.

Last found in 2014 with 4 DNFs since makes it a worthy candidate for a check by the CO.

22-Sep-15
Looked at this one in full view of truck driver. Lots of dead wood to look under but no luck. Although did not attempt the big one.

22-Jul-15
No luck for us here. Didn't spend a lot of time with the recent DNF's. Pity as there are not many caches to stop at between towns here. Thanks.

Up for a detour off the Newell? You bet. This one is well worth the relatively little time it will take to explore a short segment of the Kidman Way. The cache was found well concealed and in good condition. The creek is quite pleasant too, being full at the moment. Thanks malleechick.

Found quickly on a trip from Bendigo to Griffith and Leeton. Thanks

28-Dec-13
2906. I arrived at GZ to find a squillion cows and some drovers that had taken up residence only metres from GZ. So with a bit of acting, stretching and yawning, I made my way to GZ and then used the cover of a tree for the log signing duties. A quick wave to the residents and I was on my way.
TFTC. Really didn't expect muggle company out here.

WanderingAus wandered by with the WanderingMrs (aka SWMBO) on day 117 of our annual Climatic Refugee trip, after 11 weeks in Darwin and a couple of weeks meandering across and down through Queensland then slowly down the Kidman Way to Griffith. The WanderingMrs had determined through the wonders of the Information Superhighway that there was line dancing a couple of nights in Griffith, so we checked in to the caravan park for six nights.

After that we continued on down the Kidman Way, until this cache loomed on the horizon (well, actually on the TomTom). I wasn't going to stop for it, but the WanderingMrs suggested I might as well get one to start the day, but by then I'd over-shot the rest area. I continued on for a kilometre or so until I could turn around in a driveway without losing the caravan, headed back and pulled the rig into the rest area. As I walked towards GZ I spotted a pretty obvious hiding spot and made a very quick and easy GAFF 0 find. I was surprised to find the cache container had the name "Crossing The Creek", but I'm sure I found the right one.

My find No 4231, LCC, TNLNSL, dropped my WanderingAus Happy New Year 2008 Gold GC, my WanderingAus GeoMobile TB and a couple of other travellers in for a visit before grabbing them back again. There was a pencil but no sharpener in the cache, so I left a pencil sharpener as well as a ziplock bag for the logbook.

Second to Find... Again for me. Saw this one go up several days ago, when i was in Melbourne, and thought the locals would be right onto it, so when i got back Thursday night, didn't bother going for a mad dash. Was going to go Friday, on my birthday, but the wife talked me out of it, i shouldn't have let her now.... Had the Blacklegend Bush Birthday Bash event on Saturday, and today was the first chance to get out to it.

So, my 16 year old daughter has just got her L plates, so i said, why not go for an evening/night drive for some experience, so i grabbed her an 4 of the little kids, Jasmine (7yo) James and Jemma (5yo) and Marindh (3yo) and headed off. Noisy trip but fun. They all love finding "treasures".

Got to GZ, and a few campers nearby were no trouble. Found and opened the log.. Doh, beaten by 2 hours after all that time... Good work Murf on the FTF. I will keep a watch out for the others you mentioned which will be going in on the Kidman Way. Give me a email, i may be able to help out placing a few between Jerilderie and this one.

Cheers and TFTC.

After finishing some pesky weekend work, I decided a drive was in order to unwind. There were some local FTF's to be had, so I headed for Griffith only to be frustrated. Given I still had some time left, South it was, and down the Kidman I went.

The same campers Blacklegend mentioned were there, but they were happily oblivious to someone stopping to stretch their legs. I dodged the spiderwebs and managed to come up with another aggysaunt *FTF* Smile Sounds like I managed to get there just in time too!

Thanks again for another local cache,
Cheers,
Murf.
