As this cache has been out of action for too long, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements.
As the MEGA is this weekend I am archiving these now. Please remember:
If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Trust your GPS. Stay on the lower track. Look for the tree title has been cut down. Clever but simple hide, we'll done

30-Jul-17
Tough one, no luck tonight.

21-Jul-17
Probably the toughest one I've found in Welly so far, so tough I had to take a celebratory selfie! It's definitely there, but like others are saying it's at the base of a now cut down tree and the GPS location is slightly off. Make sure you're actually on Tokyo Lane, I spent far too long on the path above it! Wink

18-Jul-17
No luck

05-Jul-17
Finally got this with the help of a previous finder! Cache is no longer behind a tree... tree has gone, and cache outer casing is disintegrating.

No luck for me. Second time looking for this, will add to watchlist to see if others have the same problems or if it's just me!!

Nice greets from Dresden in Germany Smile. TFTC

28-Feb-17
Found it. I admit on my second visit, having deployed some old fashioned VFR tricks, narrowed the search aera and finally located the cache at gz. Very nice natural hide. Weather isn't being too kind, may need replacing before it collapses. TFTC

13-Feb-17
Found but alas went out without my writing stick so a photo log instead TFTC 237

19-Jan-17
GPS was pretty useless in here. Followed the hints of others but just as I was about to give up, "You have got to be kidding me!" Was not expecting that hide. Very clever. Tftc.

19-Jan-17
When the weather bomb went through this morning it didn't look like I would be going out for a run at lunchtime. However, it has turned into a lovely afternoon and the run went ahead as planned.

To a short detour to this location on the way out for a spot of geocaching.

Cache is in fairly good condition.

Thank you

28-Dec-16
Found, was a bit wet

28-Dec-16
After 20 minutes going around in circles, finally found it - well camouflaged

23-Dec-16
Nicely done! You'd have to get up pretty early in the morning to catch me out though… you'd have to stay up all night

18-Dec-16
As mentioned the GPS was quite a bit off on this one; but weather didn't help either. After a few minutes searching around, managed to grab the cleverly hidden cache. Log was wet but still could be signed. TFTC.

04-Nov-16
A decently quick find despite having the gps bouncing all around.
Thanks very much for a nicely hidden cache.

03-Nov-16
My very first geocache attempt and I failed

02-Nov-16
Took StormIsMe and I a while to find, but in the end I reached up and found it, love the camo and TFTC

02-Nov-16
Took myself and AEC99 a while but found it eventually! That was an awesome camo! Was well worth the hunt! Tftc

02-Nov-16
Checked all the little bases of all the little trees by the path side, but to no avail.

The travelling fox is sad =µ,µ=

02-Oct-16
Hi, easy find and I really like the effort gone to in the camo! Thanks. Today was a working Sunday morning for me on the Terrace so definitely made my day better getting to pop out for a cache and some fresh air!

27-Aug-16
At last I have found this -after 2 previous visits. Read previous logs to help me and then I just so happened to place my stretched out hand on the hide. Have added a piece of waterproof paper for the next set of logs. TFTC

31-Jul-16
We made this much harder than it needed to be! Got there in the end! TFTC Smile

13-Jul-16
We were stumped but eventually we found the right track after spending far too long on the wrong track. Logging the cache with emzyme, bpresland and the doctor.. Log needs replacing.

10-Jul-16
Finally, 3rd times the charm! Terrific container and hide! No more space on paper! GPS coordinates were all over the place but after wandering up and down they were bang on this time. Worth looking for!

04-Jul-16
Great cache! Bit of a mission for the find but worth it Tftc!

26-Jun-16
Last time we were in New Zealand and spend our holiday on the Northern Island – that was fantastic!
We landed in Wellington and from this great town we went through the island – we were near Mt. Taranaki, in the Tongariro Nationalpark, on Lake Taupo, in two Thermal Areas, in Rotorua, on Coromandel Peninsula, on the Bay of Islands, on the Ninety Mile Beach, in the Sand Dunes, on Cape Reinga and in Auckland.
All the time we visited there the main attractions – but we wanted to do our hobby (geocaching), too.
So we looked for the boxes next to the highways and on all the wonderful places of this very nice Island.
Here we could found the box very well, we say thanks to the owner and thanks for the cache.

14-Jun-16
Took a second visit - nice hide!

17-May-16
Tftc. Great hiding spot. Did need to read other people's log comments to find it. My pen didn't work on the waterproof paper so I've taken a photo. Smile

14-May-16
We had to consult past logs for this one and, after widening the search area, it was quickly found. TFTC!

30-Apr-16
Found today water tight good condition tftc

06-Apr-16
TFTH! The multi level nature of this cache had me going for a while but the hint helped tremendously.

06-Apr-16
The coordinates for this cache are quite a long way off and it's much closer to the top of the stairway up from the Clifton Terrace car park than shown on the map. GPS was no help at all anyway, as it kept telling me I was standing in the middle of the motorway. Only found it by checking out likely spots along the path on my way back to work, having all but given up. Nice camo once I found it. TFTC.

05-Apr-16
Initially I took the High Road, but after 15 minutes realised that the Low Road was what I needed. Then things got easier and a cunning hide was quickly located. TFTC

29-Mar-16
enjoyed the walk to this cache.
we searched around wasn't long before we found the cache (Noticed some bedding up the hill)
great hide
thank you for the cache

27-Mar-16
On an Easter egg hunt. I certainly could not rely on my gps for this one! Required a degree of fossicking and a bit of parallel thinking. Too easy to be led up the garden path. Cheers.

24-Mar-16
Gps was 14m out, she's a toughy

24-Mar-16
True that the GPS aint great. deffs find-able though, keep hunting and youll find in a genious lil spot

21-Mar-16
Found it with Sharynr, well a friend found it, I can't take credit. Very cleverly hidden and it was accessible without any climbing.

20-Mar-16
Success on my 3rd visit although my first one was without a GPSr. Nice hide. Took a while for my reading to settle down. Nice hide. Some people have obviously logged it without signing the log.

I have been looking at this one for while. Having moved buildings this was just a short walk away. I took the opportunity today to grab Pundle66 after a meeting to grab it. GPS had us off to start with but we walked back down to a likely location and we soon had it in our hands. TFTC.

16-Feb-16
Found this a week or two ago but forgot to log it!

04-Feb-16
Nice camo

31-Jan-16
Nice spot. Easy find. TFTC.

28-Jan-16
Second time trying to find this one, we searched for awhile the first time but turns out we never even got to the right spot. Read lots of times that the coordinates aren't very helpful so we extended the search area and then I came up with an idea! In the end, the coordinates were only saying 6meters out Smile TFTC

28-Jan-16

Gps not much use here. Perseverance paid off in the end!

18-Jan-16

TFTC Found it after studying the picture and going back over the hints.

09-Jan-16
Took awhile as we were on the wrong level to start with. Clever container, got the smiley. TFTC

07-Jan-16
Nice hide with so many tuis keeping watch!
***SPOILERS***
For those having trouble, the tree is now a stump. The camo is natural for the area, but once prodded will likely reveal the cache. It was a little stretch, but with my feet not leaving the path. Good luck! Smile

01-Jan-16
No luck for me this morning. Might try again another day.

20-Dec-15
There has been some tree felling on the path in the last little while. The cache may have been disturbed?

14-Nov-15
Was down here recently on my own and couldn't find the access to the lane ! Was pouring with rain then which didn't help ! Lovely fine weather this trip, plus ric had researched it, so easier for me this time thanks ...

13-Nov-15
Very nearly missed the little access track but once on it I managed a quick find at GZ. Tftc

01-Nov-15
At a meeting on Terrace this morning (post rugby) so parked nearby and walked down Tokyo lane. Cache quickly in hand. No problems with find. First of the new month. Thanks for the cache.

31-Oct-15
Tftc. Tricky find due to gps and map being off

31-Oct-15
We both looked 10 mrs either side of GZ but could not find any cache at the base of a small tree. (May could do with a check.) Mrs abxt350 was annoyed as she was dragged up there

29-Oct-15
After a lovely visit to the Botanical gardens I evaluated my route back to the city and found a good options that just deviated a little and would result in 3 cache visits. This was the first of the three, and it took me a minute to figure out the best spot, with out try any sort of fancy acrobatic tricks. It did not take to long and I was able to put my hand on the cache. I got my name in the log and then made sure to replace it appropriately.

Having read the previous logs I really wasn't sure whether to tackle this one on the way back to work from an appointment. My anxiety related to me wearing office clothes and whether I might have to climb off the track.

In the gentle rain I decided to give it a go. I remembered a series of stairways leading off the top of Woodward Street and thought they'd put me in vicinity of GZ if I was lucky. As it turns out, I was lucky - as well as the dry route up there was an asphalt path heading along toward where my GPS was directing my attention.

As I was nearing GZ I again wondered whether a climb would be necessary today. I decided that if it was then I'd save this cache for another day and find a different one today.

I saw two trees that might be the right ones - coords led me bang in between them. One would require a short climb which would have risked getting my work trousers filthy. If it wasn't the other one which only required a reach around then I'd have gone with plan B.

As it turned out, the reach around resulted in an odd object coming loose in my hands at first touch. I was able to take this along the path for a better look and it was immediately clear I had hit gold!

Paperwork completed, cache returned and no muggles throughout my escapade.

Cache in great condition. Thanks for another Wellington smilie to add to my growing collection.

#1249. I went out last night to find this one. Its not a very pleasant place to be at night wondering if muggles will turn into muggers! Anyway I saw no-one but I stuffed up big time as didn't notice in the dark how many tracks were present in this strip of land between the motorway and the suburban street. So headed elsewhere to find a cache. Came back today at lunchtime and saw immediately in the daytime where it went wrong last night. Well reached the GZ and checked some objects but not well enough unfortunately. So wandered back and forth, and up and down, to see what other possibilities there were that matched hint and description. Found nothing so went back to the start again and as often happens a more determined look found an object and a small cache well hidden. Signed the log which was damp but still writeable. Left as found and hurried back to work. TFTC

11-Aug-15
This one could almost be classified as a puzzle as it was quite a challenge to find a way to access this on foot from The Terrace - it felt like solving a maze. Eventually a successful approach was found to this peaceful walkway that I did not know about beforehand. Should have read the description more carefully as I increased the terrain rating much more than necessary and got quite grubby. Once I stopped to read the information provided it was a smile and a grab. Nice one fozzmeister, thanks!

19-Jul-15
Probably the best hidden cache I have found so far. TFTC

19-Jul-15
Fantastic camouflage!

18-Jul-15
Ahhhh, one of those difficult-to- get-to caches (due to proximity to motorway), but finally made the time today. Have to admit that the GPS and hint initially had me on the 'upper' path, and I persevered waaaaay to long as I hadn't seen the hint object I had expected to lower down. Eventually got there, and found the nicely camouflaged cache.

TFTC!

06-Jul-15
Replaced log with a waterproof version

25-Jun-15
Visiting Wellington for a couple of days and needed a 10+ favourite cache. This fitted the bill nicely and enjoyed firstly finding my way to GZ and secondly the cool camo. Signed the supplementary log that that last few people have used.
Many thanks

Close enough to work to arrange around a smoko break with DjaliDjinn.. Our combined navigational and cache-finding skills worked a treat with DD making the find... Thanks

07-Jun-15
Second time lucky! Yosser and I had looked for this one without success a few months back but since then we no longer work the same shift, so coordinating our caching has been a lot harder. Tonight, however, the stars aligned. While I ran to my car to fetch my torch, Yosser plotted our approach. I was quite fascinated by the subterranean labyrinth we encountered en route to GZ and wasn't convinced we'd ever exit, but obviously we did, and quite close to where we needed to be, actually. The GPS took a while to settle, but I trusted my instincts and made a relatively straightforward find. Great camo - but the log is pulp and needs replacing. Yosser had anticipated this and brought a piece of paper for us to write on, but I'm not sure it'll last long in such damp conditions. Tftc!

Okay, it turns out this isn't a good cache to do at night. Also, the map shows a path in a different location to my GPSr. I think I'll leave this cache for a future visit.

13-May-15
This one proved very difficult to me. 20 min was used in the wrong pathway and additionally 20 min was used around the coordinates. I was just about to give up, when I decided to go a bit further away from the coordinates. I would be suggest top update the hint a bit. Log is still full, but I found a spot on the last page.

17-Apr-15
Found on a geocaching weekend in Wellington, tftc

13-Apr-15
Fairly easy find, but there's absolutely no space left in the logbook and it's also soaked through.

12-Apr-15
Fairly easy find, mainly because I saw something rather out of the ordinary. Covered slightly more when I put it back.
