Logs
We continued today our tour of Queensland and thereby searched, found and logged this interesting Traditional-Cache.The weather was - said in one word simply best. The good hidden caches and the being on holidays kept us the whole day in a good mood. The cache had good coordinates, and thus was easy to find. The logbook was okay, and allowed easy logging. Thanks to Bundyrumandcoke for the generation of this nice cache At the Coalface. (with the proper agenda), for leading us here and for showing us this funny location as well as the ongoing maintenance of this cache.PS: Please forgive us the uniform log which is needed due to timing problems - if necessary special actions and happenings are there described where they happened.Greetings from Germany together with the hope to meet somewhere like event or wood. Nearly gave up looking for a magnetic cache, then read the logs and tried again once I knew it wasn't magnetic. Found it! TFTC.
Found and replaced the non magnetic container in the same place. Thanks for the cache.
Thanks for the cache. I worked at Curragh from 2009 through 2016 and didn't know this was a memorial. I was onsite when Jimmy Brunswick's accident happened and it was a shock to the site. My friend's uncle also died at Blackwater mine in 2015 but isn't on the memorial. Fav point for the memories.

Wazza and the Wench are touring QLD for a couple of weeks. Driving from the coast out to Longreach then, without a definite plan, driving back to the coast. We're on a tight timetable as we head west so very little caching is planned.Thank you, Bundyrumandcoke, for this cache.#4307. Log signed at 1328Hrs.(I often sign the log book as "W+W" to save paper/time/ink)
On the way to Blackdown Tablelands Nationalpark I stopped here for having breakfast. Thanks for the easy cache
Found a non magnetic red container exactly where the hint points. No sign of Spikeys magnetic nano so have signed the more recent replacement. Great memorial. Tftc
Together with Travelser I'm going Down Under. We are driving around with a motorhome. Started on the 17th September in Cairns. Our plan is driving.along the eastcoast down. Then in the south on to Adelaide and from there ending the 31th October in Alice Springs.During our trip we of course search for several caches. Most of them brought us to very nice spots, like this one.All the CO's, and in this case Bundyrumandcoke, thanks for bringing us here and give our trip a special accent.
On my roundtrip along Australia with Oopie we are douing always some caches. All COs thanks for bringing us on this nice places and making this caches.
A great sculpture and memorial, and a great location for a geocache to bring people to! At the coalface indeed! I found the cache as per its replacement notes and hint, and the cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks Bundyrumandcoke for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.----------This 1.5 week trip, the purpose was the Queensland Outback Geocaching Muster (QOGM) in Longreach, with its aim to encourage tourism and support in rural towns. Departing from Brisbane on Friday 15/09/2023, I travelled solo taking the northern route through Gayndah, Emerald and Jericho on my way to the event, and then returned through Blackall, Morven, St George, Goondiwindi, and Toowoomba arriving back on Monday 25/09/2023.My Longreach highlights included the two QOGM muster/rally days visiting Muttaburra and Isisford; the Qantas Founders Museum; Stockmans Hall of Fame; Silver Tails Rail Sunset Tour; and the general historical town vibe. Other highlights to/from Longreach included climbing Mt Scoria; Barcaldine's Tree of Knowledge and kayaking in the water park; Blackall woolshed scour; and the smaller intriguing and historical towns that I passed through.During my travel days when I was time-poor, I targeted geocaches that were older in age, high D-T, puzzles/challenges, and rare cache types. In addition, I added 7-8 visited LGAs to my statistics. The scenery was memorable with picturesque sunsets, and a diversity of flora and fauna. There were plenty of kangaroos and wallabies, emus, goannas/lizards, brolgas, hawks, and alas wild hogs, and goats.Today, a full travel day was pencilled, driving from Gayndah to Emerald via Biloela.I started the day visiting the towns lookout before attending the local parkrun. Well and truly warmed up, I closed out my Gayndah visit with a drive up to the lookout and then visited the [Upside Down Bridge](https://coord.info/GC8ZMQ3) in the town across the river - an engineering masterpiece!I tend to be far too slow in my travel days morning, perhaps stopping at geocaches more than I should, although I enjoyed my visits to various towns. Perhaps at the hottest time of the day, I hurriedly hiked up Mt Scoria, and the basalt columns were impressive.I had lunch in Biloela and completed the [Biloela My Home Town](https://labs.geocaching.com/goto/af82ce36-2dcf-4ff3-ab59-75a503cad4f2) Adventure Lab, and then I decided to take fewer stops to then arrive in Emerald just as the light was fading. Post dinner, I tried to find a few more town geocaches, visiting the botanic gardens to the south, and more of the Emerald cotton geoart.
A quick stop to stretch our legs while traveling through at midnight. Thanks for the cache.
On a slow, meandering trip out to Longreach for the QOGM 2023 event.
The cache had been reported as missing. I had a very good search, look, and feel, and nothing was found. Knowing the previous container was a nano magnetic is bloody small!!!, I reckon it could well have been dropped, or fallen off, and then lost amongst all the rocks.
I contacted the CO, who kindly gave me permission to replace the cache.
So, there is a new magnetic nano in the previous spot, ie front and centre, under the lip.
This is a memorial..........be respectful.

The larger are of where we're from was coal mining country as well. It still looks a bit like a moon landscape in parts, even decades after the open cut mines were recultivated.

Great Northern escape 2022 Day 128. Dingo to Emerald via Blackwater and Comet. Today was a much more civilsed day with a breakfast stop in Blackwater and an exploration of comet before pulling into the stop for the night in Emerald by lunch. I then headed to Fairburn dam for a few caches before a lazy afternoon.
The next town on today's itinerary, and this was my first stop. Ambulance and memorial all in one go. A bit sobering about this industry. I hope practices are becoming safer over time.
Thanks for the cache Bundyrumandcoke

We had planned a road trip to Queensland to visit family in 2021, but our travel plans were stalled due to border closures during the COVID-19 pandemic. Now that the world was trying to get back to a semi normal state, we decided to have another go at getting away from the cold and head up north for some sunshine and warmth.
Day 10 was a drive from Emerald to Biloela collecting caches along our journey to break up the drive. All caches were found in good condition unless otherwise mentioned. Lots of interesting things seen along the way and some wildlife thrown in for good measure.
Thanks to all the CO’s for the placements and keeping this hobby alive.

Today we are making our way towards Rocky as Diane as some work to do there on Monday and of course we aren't in a screaming hurry so we will be stopping and picking up as many caches on the way across as we can.
This was indeed a fantastic memorial, unfortunately here for all the wrong reasons. No one expects to go to work one day and never return home to your family as has happened to so many here. We were quite surprised that there was a couple of fatalities in 2020 with all the OH&S procedures that are in place in this era. At least now they will always be remembered.
We followed the cache page instructions and decoded the hint and sure enough the cache was found in the first place we looked and we have added our name to the log and returned everything as it was.
Many thanks for bringing us here, a favourite point from us.

Beautiful memorial. Was an easy find for our first one once we got the hang of things. Loaction was relocated from the clue so took a bit to find. Bonus points for the creativity of the container K&K
Thank you! This was our first ever find!
The paper was wet and smelt rather funky.

We arrived at GZ and looked at the rocks. Oh no! But then Mrs SKI had it before I had even arrived after getting out of the car.
We are from the Latrobe Valley in Victoria, a coal mining area, but open cut rather than underground, and brown coal.
We left Emerald this morning to continue our journey north chasing the warm weather and the elusive yellow smilie. Glad to report that today we found both!
Thanks to all the CO’s for providing so many caches along the way for us to find. We appreciate your efforts in showing us this great country. Taking us to places and showing us sights we would have otherwise missed.

Looking for something to fill in time whilst not studying, it was suggested that I finally get around to logging THOSE caches long found but never logged. Some even have funny stories of being visited not only once or twice, but a few even have had a third or fourth visit before realising I've been there done that. The date is as near to the correct day the cache was found. So sorry for the generic and late log.JABs.
Travelling from Bluff to Emerald we decided to look around Blackwater. This was a quick find at this wonderful memorial to the coal miners here.
We detoured to GZ on our way through town and with the hint the cache was quickly in hand. Log signed and replaced as found after reading the plaques. Thanks for the cache Bundyrumandcoke.
Logging old caches originally found with alphag_25. Now have my own account and logging them separately so that i can claim the finds or not as the case may be. TFTC.
01/01/21 Happy New Year Caching!!! Roadtrip Mackay to Emerald to Barcaldine to Aramac to Blackall to Jericho over the next 3 weeks. Lots of puzzle solving before and during trip. TFTC SL Paid respect

Christmas Trip 2020 was a blast! 2 adults, 4 kids and 2 dogs towing a camper trailer visiting lots of places in the Queensland Outback. Started Cooroy, staying in Dalby, Nindigully Pub, Charlotte Plains Station, Charleville, Roma, Emerald, Rockhampton and then Yandaran for Christmas before heading home. 4600 kilometers in two and a half weeks with lots of caches in between (well as many as I was allowed to).
All caches were found with ease and in good condition unless stated otherwise, thank you to all the cache owners for placing these caches, especially the ones in remote areas that were great to stop, stretch the legs, and get another smiley.
Awesome memorial!
Thanks for the cache **Bundyrumandcoke**
