Camping on some nearby property, took the MTB for a spin up along this trail to grab a couple caches. This one was one that was found today.
Find #4549 on 2 Oct 2022.

Travelling through some dirt back roads to pick up a few caches. A little chilly but the sun is shining so perfect geocaching weather.
I parked on Tower road and then headed off on foot.
This one was probably the easiest find in this trail. All good here.
Thanks for the cache Team707 and Omocyunn.

After riding up and down the hill we arrived at this one, we searched for quite some time but no luck a read of previous logs and some other co ords were had, still nothing, we went back to the original location and sure enough Davidwazza came away with the find after a long search
Today I met up with Davidwazza at Mt Crawford to complete some caches that required a bike, we particularly focused on the area around the Big fat series. After having lunch I was spent and decided to head home and find a few caches along my way. All up 30 finds for the day.
Thanks for the cache

Today, gridge98 and I headed east to Mount Crawford with our bikes. I had a few targets that I had wanted to get to today, but as always, I had more targets and less time to do all of them. Our first cluster of caches was aimed at *SFE Challenge - Milestone 10,000 finds* with the *Big Fat* geocaches nearby as a loop. That was some solid riding up/down the hills, and a few geocaches were time consuming due to their hide types. After a quick Williamstown bakery lunch, we returned to another section in Mount Crawford, and concentrated on the Rocky Paddock campground area with a number of *Animal Facts* geocaches found. Gridge98 departed home, but I had another couple of rides up Tower Hill Track, and also around Rocky Paddock along Gordon Road. I completed the day with a short walk up Mount Crawford boardwalk, and a few miscellaneous finds on my return home. It was a brisk day with cold winds and a few intermittent drizzles, but otherwise not a bad day to be on the bike.
This cache took ages to find! Finding a small cache in pine tree forests... on a ground / on a stump is challenging at the best of times, but not one that hadn't been found for 1.7 years. There was a fair amount of ground cover around the place, and then to make the search even more harder, gridge98 had found another set of coordinates by the CO when they replaced the cache. And then the cache was found exposed, and returned to a nearby stump. Talk about looking for a preform in a pine forest (get it... needle in a haystack?!).
I must have dug around and search about 8-10 stumps and logs around the place, and I only found the cache during a return visit to a stump with my digging down deep. A very hard and challenging cache, and would much prefer a larger sized cache here. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. We placed the cache back with only some light natural camouflage, so hoping it isn't too challenging for the next visitor(s). Thanks Team707 and Omocyunn for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance. It was also nice to have found this cache with 628 days [20.6 months / 1.72 years] of unfound love since its last find on 7/01/2019.

Figured I need some more practice at this caching game,
so went for a walk in a big fat forest !
Interesting bunch of caches down here.
You can get a cream for this one [8)]
Ended up walking out in the dark, the wildlife is pretty active then too!

Found It!
Not sure I took the best route to this one but I got there. And it was an interesting walk anyway!

We could only convince the geo -kids to do this arduous walk because the medium would yield swaps. Sadly this medium was quite small and there were no swaps. Beautiful location though. Tftc.
Took awhile to find this sucker! All the trees are covering the potential GZs.
Eventually found it right where the GPSr said to look! Trust your GPSr here...

Thanks

A well thought out search had this in hand relatively quickly. Long gras had us singing to scare the Joe Blakes. TFTC
Decided on an arvo trekkin some of the the Big fat series today.
Found in the open down the hill a ways, returned a little higher up to a stump and covered with a piece of wood..TFTc

Looked and looked but to no success. Knee-high dead weeds and prickles made the cache hard to find. Might be best to find in the cooler months. Might return to have another look sometime in the near future.
Since placing this cache in 2011 much has changed here. Gone are the "piles" of animal poo, but also gone is the pine forest. There are very few hiding places now, so the coordinates are slightly different. The cache is in a pile of sticks next to a stump.
Right where Freddo said it was. Not in good condition at all. Left my last bit of paper in the bag for the next visitor.
Freddo found the remains of the cache. At 0m. Assembled the pieces and rehid with a note.

Seems all the piles have gone and the forest has been replanted.
Think this cache needs some checking on. photo attached.

Geohubby and I had spotted this nice looking series in the Warren Conservation Park and felt that attempting the series would be a great way to get some much needed exercise
Geohubby and I were getting a bit smug at finding the caches in this series with such spot on co-ords but this one pulled us back into line
We spent about twenty minutes searching for this one. Lots of thistles have grown around GZ but we poked and prodded with a couple of long sticks to no avail. The area has been scoured with deep furrows by some sort of large machinery....maybe since the last find, but hard to tell exactly when.
We will watch this one with interest (and then no doubt kick ourselves when the next seeker finds it)
Many thanks anyway Team707[^]

Yep, the cache is definitely here despite the aliens having come along in the middle of a night and stealing all the trees from the surrounding area, lol. TFTC
Finished my Heysen Trail walk back at Tower Road but could not resist one more cache, the walk back up hill really finished my day.
Lots of logging activity but cache was right on the spot. TFTC.

Wasn't sure this one would still be around as there is no forrest just felled trees, but there it was waiting for me to sign the log.
How do you get away with calling a cache Big Fat Piles??!! Butt, I see what you mean! Not the nicest part of the walk to-day, but an easy find in amongst the big fat pile!! Thanks Team707
The last find for the day getting a few big fat caches. Probably could have found more if we had opted to travel closer in the Big Fat Blue Box, but we were out for a nice walk hoping not to bump into any Darlek. Found with help of my current Jr companion (going under a previous pseudonym). Yes there were plenty of big fat piles around today probably due to a big fat hole in the fence.

Took the time today to do the other half of the "Big Fats". Visited with geoschnauzer in tow. TFTC
This was a good one for us. Walking along the track bumping our gums while going up this steep rise SA4agers asks me if I'm looking, I say no, we checked and we had gone about 80 meters past, so it's back down the hill to find and log the cache, then back up the same hill to the next cache, reaching for my water by this time.

Lost in conversation we went straight past this one and up the hill. Thinking we should check the GPS we found had gone 80 odd meters too far. Back down the hill and I made a bee line to GZ while Rustic Relics took a bit more of a round-about route. Not counting our inatentiveness to the GPS this cache was one of the easiest to find today. TFTC Team707!
Did not think I was going to find this one (as I approached GZ) due to recent logging activity; however, it was right where it was ment to be and an easy find. TFTC (Jonno could't come today). Thanks Mr C.
Found at 12:10 with Olga after searching amongst the recently cut foliage. Left it at the stump at my gz
Found while out walking on a mighty fine winters day, and the sheep were out in force. My GPS had got me a little confused as it left the last number of each cache number off so lucky we looked at the name in the log book to see where we were up to. Due to the weather setting in this was the last one we could do today, but we will be back for another walk. TNLN TFTC
Sixth find of the BF series...
Really easy find, after I expected a bit of a struggle. Yet there it was just purched up in a bold location. Can't see it until you're right at GZ.
Thanks for the cache, Team707

I have been through this area once before and enjoyed traveling here again.
Just as I got to GZ I received a Geocall on the phone and while I was chatting I spied the cache.
Talk about a happy coincidence because it sure looked like you could spend a bit of time searching there.

Started on Tower RD to get the rest of the series. Once we were on the correct side of the fence, it was a quick find. Lots of sheep around, and sheep 'piles'... Cheers & TFTC!
Out doing a few caches by bike this morning....weather was nice, but should have brought a bike with gears! Single speeding on some of these hills was tough!
Nice part of the forrest that we havent explored yet.

Thought I might be looking around the pile for a while, but spotted it quite quickly. TFTC Team707
DISK’s co-ords led me straight to the cache and I had it signed and replaced in seconds. Off to the next.
Coordinates changed from:
S 34° 40.047 E 138° 57.035
Coordinates changed to:
S 34° 40.049 E 138° 57.035
Distance from original: 12 feet or 3.7 meters.
According to DISK we were 7 metres out- our GPS is often a bit touchy around trees. Happy to include new coordinates until we get back to check them out. Sorry for any inconvenience caused. [I:]

Too many logs, not a good sign when the given coords are off. Thanks for providing an accurate GZ DISK.
Was hoping this might have still been unfound but the TieDyedSmileys had claimed the gold and DISK the silver. A fortunately quick find considering the number of hidey holes at the GZ. Thanks 707 for the hide!!
This one caused us problems and wasn't helped by the ice-cold wind trying to blow straight through us [xx(].
Looked around for a long time before spotting it - 7m out for us on an overcast morning. I've included some corrected co-ords which may, or may not, help.
Took GC. Left dinosaur. SL. Silver podium on this one!
Thanks again Team707 & Omocyunn.

Whoo Hoo!!!! FTF
We were surprised to see that this cache was still unfound a week later on. Sat lock was a bit iffy around GZ and after reading the DNF and seeing all the potential hiding places we were a little daunted.
After looking around a bit we finally found the unclaimed prize of an FTF.
A hint for others then in the forest there, the cache is near a tree .

I saw piles and piles of pine, I spent piles and piles of time, I came out with piles and piles of scratches (but I left no piles of my own!!).No piles cache for me even though I search a wide area, perhaps a hint could be added???
