Find #835
I was a little surprised to see this one disabled recently as I had been here less than a month ago and found it but didn't have my pen as I was on the way back from a meeting on my bike. I stopped today to sign it. It's definitely there and I'm sure in the original hiding spot. Really clever cache actually and a great camo job. I can see why it fooled a few and I'm glad to spot it. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log (this time) and visited a TB. Thanks for the cache Combust4. It certainly earns a favourite point from me. I'll drop the reviewer a note too to indicate this one shouldn't be archived.

Found what looks like the cache, or the "cap" mentioned in the description. Noting the satellite location and the logs, sounds like we found it, but the cache itself was not to be found. Bit worrying. I'll send the CO the photos and see whether we had actually found the right spot. Looks like it was a good hide.
What a winner! Definitely a favourite. We were just about to depart and give up looking until geomum spotted the hidden cache. Very well constructed - good work Combust4! Like it - a lot

Looked for a while with gashe1 to no avail. Will try again with day light and fresh eyes. Tftc.
Had us fooled for a bit, almost gave up, but after reading some logs we looked a little deeper. Thanks for this well hidden cache on our kayaking adventure along the yarra.

4/04/2014 13:22 The coordinates had me wondering if I was in the right spot so I widened the search area and came back then widened again. It was then that I started thinking "where would I put it" and luckily that put me onto the right track. It was hard to spot and I really only saw it as I was looking straight at it. This one is so well camouflaged I couldn't see it being spotted by a muggle ever!

This was a pretty quick find as the co-ords were dead-on and I was fortunate to spot something that looked ever-so-slightly out of place in the second place I checked.
With that hunch being correct I quickly had the container in hand. Very nice camo job! The drizzle that started coming down just before I found it also made for a good excuse to shelter under the overpass and sign the log without looking suspicious to the few cyclists that passed by while I was there.
Thanks for the cache, Combust4. (Only my second find of your "Rail ride" series to date - #13 was my seventh ever cache find, back in May last year. Will have to try and collect the set this year.)

This is a great cache container in a great hiding location; and after two DNFs I was very happy to finally find one. TNLN. SL. TFTC.
We had a great day exploring and paddling along the Yarra. Thanks for the adventure. Found with Stooy.
Found at 2300 on a night caching stroll with SirJ-Oz. SirJ & I used to come down here back when the underside of the bridge was kitted out for bouldering, so I had a pretty good idea what to expect at GZ. My GPSr had me around 7m off coord, but with +-9m accuracy I guess that was to be expected. I gave the cache area a cursory glance but was fooled by shadow & circumstance, then once SirJ confirmed that it was still in place I honed in and made the find. Quite a devious little hide - thanks Combust4
i had planned that today would be my caching day of the weekend. Not the smartest idea as it was 30 degrees when i woke up and kept on rising. Lucky enough by the time i had gotten on my bike to ride in the cool change had come about.
This cache was a good find once i took off my sunglasses. Tucked away nicely and in great condition. Cheers for the hide.

Replaced with new log, but I think there was another 3 months life in the old one!
Good to go.
Good to go.
Found this one today. I was concentrating on finding this cache so much that I missed the muggle fisherman almost opposite the cache location until he cast his line out and almost caught me in the process. I don't think he saw me. This one was an easy find for me today in contrast to some of the others in the series. I actually walked up to it and there it was in the first place I looked/touched. Signed log and returned it all to its hide.
Thanks for the cache Combust4.

The 9:10 11/12/13 event in the CBD was a great incentive to ride the bike into the city; once there, I socialized for a bit too long, and had to chase sog12 and clickcraftsman out to this, the last of this wonderful series that had eluded us all. I arrived just as they had returned the cache, so found it myself with a bit of prompting from the others.
No wonder I couldn't find this the last attempt... what a superb piece of camouflage!
One final struggle to retrieve the log, and my name joined the others for a well-earned smiley, and I tagged along along the trail with the others for our next adventure.
Thanks for this and the rest of an excellent series, which has stood the test of time, and is still quite a challenge for the next generation of cachers. May it continue to confound people for years to come.

On a ride with clickcraftsman after the event in the city, we stopped by this one which has given me grief on several visits. I looked again where I had looked before and clickcraftsman moved away a little and very quickly said 'I've got it!' Now how did he do that so quickly?
We made oiur marks and returned the cache just as nirgal arrived, so he added his name too.
Another clever hide and well constructed cache in this brilliant series. Thanks Combust4.
I remember seeing the man who slept in here on many occasions and always wondered why the council just locked him out as he was doing no harm to anyone.

After the 9-10-11-12-13 event in the city, stopped in on our bikes at this one with sog12 when we admitted that it was on both of our unfound lists. Happily, my geosenses were well engaged and found it quickly. Nirgal rolled up and we made him find it too (after I'd spent too long replacing the log in the container), which didn't take long either. We happy three headed off together to gather more elusive smilies. T4TC Combust4!
My geosenses were working today, found it
right away. Clever and well done hide.
Good reminder that many sleep rough, and some may wish to have some help.

Yes took a while but eventually found lots of bike muggles but left cache where we found log book is getting hard to write on
I must be getting better at spotting sneaky hides as I found it this time without too much trouble... it completely defeated me several weeks ago. Very, very clever cache! TFTC
Took me a few minutes and a walk away for the GPS to settle and then found yet another sneaky hide. I think I've only got 2 to go now for the series. TFTC.
Good hide, well done. TFTC. Blends in well and no trouble spotting with the enquiring eyes of a geocacher.
In the area this afternoon orienteering and time now for a cache or two.
Looked for some time in the wrong spot (why do I always do that) and then expanded my search to the right spot. Nice hide.

Finished a job around the corner so, I thought I would do these 3 caches along the Yarra. Its a nice walk along here but you do need to watch the lycra wearing mugglers as they come along very offen. Sl Thanks Combust4 for the cache.
Find 590 at 23:56. It was time for another evening caching run with Burge. We had a number of caches on our list tonight and overall it was a successful evening with 15 finds for the night. This was find number 9.
We had just collected a couple of other caches along the Yarra Trail and decided that since we had already walked most of the way, that we should continue along the path to grab this one. I've lost count as to the exact number of caches I've now logged in this series, but I can't help but think that I'm close to completing it. Thanks again for the series, Combust4!

Since we were in the area we decided to walk the extra few hundred metres to find this cache. Easy grab. Tftc tnln sl
Oh boy, was I lucky that most cyclists were at work still, because this one had me wandering around scratching my head muttering to myself. I just stuck to the shady side, waterbottle in hand whenever a muglist rode past. I can play the part of an unfit cyclist without even trying.
I had spotted, and stupidly not thought more about what turned out to be the cache. It was a full 5 minutes till realisation struck. A true facepalm moment.
Great job on this hide, I am a perfect example of how well it blends into its surroundings. Very inventive and well camoflaged.
Thanks
A quick edit to say that I have awarded a favourite point to this cache.

While out on a bike ride with Two Drews this one was brought to my attention as he had found it before. After a bit of searching it was found. What a great spot, and that makes the find so much better. Thanks Combust4.
Found on my weekly caching expedition thru the 'burbs. This week I decided to pick up a few unfound caches in the Richmond/Burnley area. After getting a train into the city I jumped on a #70 tram.
After walking along the bike path from C@W's nearby cache I spent about 15 mins here looking around. I was about to leave when I took a previous logger's advice and looked for something out of place and then found it.
I was blown away by the inventiveness of the hide, well done Combust4, it deserves a favorite and gets my cache-of-the-day award.

A morning cycle to Mordialloc lead to an impromptu decision to cycle the Kew Boulevard after, and so an approach along this path which I haven't been on for ages! A matter of timing between cyclists and joggers and I had this very finely made cache in my hands. Great work on the camouflage!
A pleasure to ride this path again. Thanks and cheers!

Had a couple of hours to fill between geoluce heading off to a dance concert and dinner on Lygon St so given it's a beautiful day, time to grab a few caches and getting the last of this series was a good place to start. Found a parking area nearby which was mostly empty, then walked to GZ. Hmmmmm, let's look at an object that looked genuine but I have seen before, nope. Wait for some muggles on bikes and on foot. Look at something else, nope. More waiting, look at something else, one cache in hand. This is a clever hide that took a bit of looking, thanks to combust4 for this and the whole series.
An interesting half a k walk from another cache to here took me past the climbing walls (hadn't seen them before), and of course the fenced off once sleeping rough quarters.
I have to admit I might not have found this one without a touch of help.
Great hide in tune with others in this series.
Thanks Combust4

We managed to find another in this inventive series. Another great container, which thankfully was found by one of the family spotting something out of place. Thanks for the cache.
Wandering home from the city, thought I would check if there were any caches on the way as we didn't want to break a good run. Without sisso2's her better eyes, I was hoping for something straightforward. Originally the co-ords took me to a very greasy corner which didn't feel right, especially with logs not grumbling about dirty hands and so on. Stepped away and came to the an area more likely. looked from a distance and sure enough, bingo on the first spot. Although the paperclip attachment helps, you definitely need something to pull out the log. Superb camo Combust4.
Surprisingly, I found it almost immediately. The log can be.difficult to remove, though -- pointy things are useful here.
A nice walk on my lunch break, good his I had one of my daughters bobby pins in my pocket to pull out the log, nice camo. Tftc
On my lunch break. I am going to look but feel uncomfortable as too many muffles ride the bikes and walk so I give up and will come back when the time right
Because of some GPS trouble we were looking in the wrong place for a while but after some patience and satellite searching we soon had the cache in hand.
Love the container and environment and place around it.

This was the first one while on our bike ride today with ssmc4. It was proving just a tad elusive but s spotted the very cleverly hidden stash at 13:45 after a shortish search. Very nicely done and certainly deserving of a fave point .

Number 1 of 4 found on a joint ssmc4 & EuDes dads & daughters bike ride in to the city and back. It took us a little while but we got there in the end - a very discreet little hide. Thanks Combust4.
Found @ 1:42 pm, find # 1353
On a bike ride to the city and back.
I did stop here on the way in and had half a look as there were so many muggle passing that I decided that i would leave it for the way back.
On my return there were a lot less muggles about so I could have a better search and after a few minutes I had found another Combust4 tricky little hide.
Thanks to Combust4 for this cache.

Haha, this one was pretty tough for me, I'd grabbed every wrong thing in the area 5 times, I'd already looked at the cache as I walked up at first, but didn't think to check there. Anyways it's well hidden, good job, my first of the series. I'll slowly grab bits and pieces of the series as time goes on.
The hard thing for me wasn't finding the cache since I had done a few of this series before. It was rather to remove the logbook from this one. Anyway, nice work, much appreciated.
Out this evening for my daily cache - which is getting further from home every day... Having found a number of this series already I knew the hides can be sneaky - this one was no exception! It didn't prove to be terribly hard to find though as there were very few possibilities at GZ - best approached from the open direction to get decent satellite reception. Busy place for muggles on foot, wheels and water but I was able grab it in a gap in the traffic and sat nearby to extract the log scroll and mark my find. Replaced in a second and walked all the way back to the car (as it happened I could have parked a lot closer but it was nice evening so I didn't mind)
Spent some time looking, very well hidden indeed. Did not find it this time. Will have to be back to continue the puzzling search.
Almost ready to give up here before Robmc found it. In the last place he looked obviously.
Thanks again Combust4
Thanks again Combust4
I think this hide gave us the most problems this morning. Lots of bike starting to hit the trails, and it is a difficult spot to look a little less conspicious!
We had widened out search, but the cache was finally found where the GPSrs were saying all along.
Thanks, Robmc.

Quick find between cyclists, although I needed a stick to get it out!
TFTC, been past here heaps of times but never really thought of it much. Makes you wonder what good would come out of fencing the space off?

Found by Mary & David at 1655. Enjoyed a 400-odd metre walk to GZ, with a steady stream of bikers passing on the trail. A warm sunny afternoon with a clear blue sky and lovely views of the river. We searched around between bikes for quite a while but weren't getting anywhere, so 'phoned a friend' for a hint. Finally spotted an inconsistency and retrieved the cunning cache. Our thanks to Combust4.
Found together with nadya. Actually this cache was found some time ago but we had no pencil to sign a log then.
After meeting up with my best mate Marshy (AKA Blacklegend) we hit the road heading through the city first, then down bayside then on across to Lilydale. Ended up with 24 finds for the night.
Back on to the rail ride series and after a nice walk along the river we arrived at GZ to find road workers directly above. Luckily they moved on almost straight away and after a bit of a search, Marshy found the well concealed cache.
Thanks for the hide.

Found on another legendary night caching run with my best mate Marty (Quasar3671). On a bit of a tour tonight from the CBD , bayside then onto the Lilydale area.
Found after a bit of a walk, only to find road crews right above us on the bridge. No trouble though, they couldn't see us and the well hidden cache located pretty quickly. Nice hide. TFTC.

Found @ 22:25. I parked at the crackerjack cache and walked up (even though I knew a better parking area). I used to boulder in the area here before transurban trashed the holds (some say illegally). As an attempt to regain some good will, they had the new bouldering area built further along the path. I too remember people sleeping rough in the area. Another fantastic camouflage job on this one. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log and continued my walk along the track. Thanks for the cache Combust4.

A nice short walk dodging cyclists, some were however nice enough to 'ding' that they were coming and others just woosh-ed by!
Cache was in the last place we looked!
Clever hide!
Thanks Combust4 for this cache.
A nice walk in and had to keep a good watch out for the many muggle cyclists about, and the cache was found after a short search. TFTH...SL....TNLN

Second find after attending the event with my good mate ahomburg. Another very clever hide which took some time to locate, not help by the surrounding terrian hard for the GPSr to given a good location. Had to watch for muggles as the weather seems to have brought them all out from their caves today. TFTC Combust4, now to find the others in this epic series.

Today was the day to pick up the last two of this fantastic series.
Unlike lemmy and his driver, I was able to park 142 metres from GZ and therefore made a leisurely short stroll to the cache site. As it was just before lunchtime there were quite a few joggers and bicyclists (who don't use warning bells) as I made my unhurried search. After checking one or two possibilities I grabbed the cache container. Another beauty.
This log was almost impossible to retrieve until a quick snap of my wrists and it was flying from its hide.
I am delighted that I have now completed this outstanding series. I am also disappointed that I have no more of this high quality hides to seek out. i congratulate you combust4 and I eagerly look forward to your future caches

Today we planned to ride again after our failed attempt last week. I knew I was in for a real treat as I had heard that most of the caches from here on in were fantastic. My sources were absolutely correct! I planned to ride this morning, however when we woke up we found that the weather was way too wet to ride So we decided to drive instead. We managed to complete the series So I was very happy
We were running a bit short on time at this point, so I was a little bit annoyed at how it took so long to get to GZ [B)] It was a nice walk, but a bit too long for today unfortunately. Oh well, we found the cache and it was brilliant (again) I thought that it blended in very very well with the landscape. It didn't take too long to locate, however when I did pull it out of it's hide I was beginning to think that it was wrong. Luckily I pulled the cap off to discover the log sheet Thanks for yet another fantastic cache Combust4

When I saw the name I had an idea of where this one would be and I was very close. This one took me several minutes as I wandered along, sussing out things. One thing I like about this series as that none of them are haystacked - there is actually a reasonable limit to the potential hiding spots. The quality of the hide becomes the thing.
Soon enough I had an idea and it was a good one! I thought that the log wasn't going to come out but with the right method there was no problem. Yet another good Combust 4 cache!

Looked for about 20 minutes and was quietly swearing away about who would put a cache in such a location and found it and loved it, what a great idea and well constructed cache. Gets a favourite for the effort and the idea, even if not a fan of the location. TFTC

Find #225
After finally finding the Wetlands by the monash cache nearby, the geoniors and I decided a nice riverside walk was in order the few hundred meters down the track to here.
On my way I had my usual cachers eyes open, and of course everywhere I look I see potential hides.
Upon getting to GZ I find in one of the previously detected hides a nicely camouflaged hide, and despite telling the geoniors where it was exactly they still couldn't see it, so I grabbed it and signed the log.
Thanks again combust4 for a nice cache

12.45 This was my 4th visit on this one. It was a good walk from walk so I visited it during my lunch time break. Thanks to some encouagement from Combust4 I was willing to give it another go. One vist I even walked up the side of the wall and ended up on the side of the freeway. (don't recommend that) This location can be busy at times and I got some very curious looks by the passerby. Today it finally came to me and after a 10 minute look today I finally found it. Excellent hide, its got my vote.
Thanks for the cache and hint

Cache # 870
Another beauty.
Looked for about 20 mins without luck, then had to resort to a PAF.
I had difficulty translating the PAF clue from engineering terms into something I could understand. Then I widened my search a little and eventually found the crafty and well constructed hide. Man this guy`s good!
It was with some trepidation that I set out for the last one, number 12, having already found numbers 13 and 14..
Thanks for the cache.

In the area for work this afternoon, saw this one on the GPS and thought I know a good spot to park to grab that one. Parked roughly 200 metres from the GZ and then braved the cycle muggle traffic and walked to the GZ up the bike track. After a bit of looking around in the wrong spot, I checked the GPS and altered the search area and found it straight away. I then had to wait for a muggle gap to do the quick retrieve. Wondered away from the GZ to sign the log and then replaced in another muggle gap. Great to find a cache that are well thought, well built and cleverly hidden. The cache is in good condition. Thanks for the very clever and well placed cache Combust.
No luck with this one so far and I have been here a couple of times now. Must be a good hide. I a not giving up yet. It is a good destination for a lunch time walk.
thanks
thanks
After a relatively short hiatus from my usual Monday night caching run, I was able to start them back up again with my good friend jsmyong55 tonight. I picked him up from Melbourne University just after 5 pm and we headed out to the northwest of town to pick a few up there. There was a fair bit of walking tonight, so we didn't bag the numbers we thought we might but we certaininly had fun grabbing the ones we did.
This was my first cache for the night, on my way to pick up jsmyong55. I parked in the wrong spot and had to run in the 500 metres to the GZ location. I wasn't worried about the run but knew I had a fair bit of walking later in the night. At GZ I started my search and after waiting for the endless muggles to pass, I soon had the cache in hand. thanks Combust4 for another great cache.

Found 10:30, the first find for a lazy Sunday's caching, nice hide.

My unplanned caching day has been pretty fruitful. Literally ran 1.2k's between 2 caches to get 2 FTF's from Combust4's Rail Ride series and 2 more on the way back all done on foot. Proud of myself for walking 7.2km back home from the city. I had just come back from a meeting over at Melbourne Uni when I received the email. I also saw that there was a cache that was published just 400m from my house, but I would have preferred to kill 2 birds with 1 stone anytime than to have had that one. Since this cache was another 1.9km from where I was at my previous FTF, I knew it would be out of reach when I got there. Still, half ran and walked to this one hoping for a chance. Once I reached, it did not take me long to find the cache and once I took the log out to sign, there had been 4 signatures on it already. I was beaten to it by 25 minutes. Kind of expected that when I had to travel by foot, but anyway, congratulations to drjim7, josiey and family for their FTF. Too bad we couldn't meet each other. Had already picked up one FTF with the kids this afternoon and knew this one wasn't far away so thought we'd go for it too. Probably didn't park in the optimal spot and so had about a 430m walk in the sunshine dodging bikes. I spied something but let 6 year old lobster6 7 make the pickup because he was still grumbling about his sister getting the FTF on the last cache. Very sophisticated cache. Was just down the path this morning at another cache and had explored this area a little. I'm glad I don't have to sleep here.
***FTF*** I'm really excited its my first first to find. Love the cache. Thanks Combust4 I'm glad I don't have to sleep here.
