Last one for the day. What an adventure it had been, descending from Mt Angelus!TFTC!
I'm staying in St Arnaud for a few nights and after my arrival this afternoon, explored some of the village then went out to check out the start of the Mt Robert walk (which I planned to do tomorrow.) As I was about to look for the cache, a few people turned up to go for a walk, so I lingered and read the nearby information signs. I then overheard one of them mentioning looking for a geocache here, so I said hi and joined her! Nice to meet a cacher from China. Found the cache together then re-hid it as found. TFTC!
Since my surgery was postponed, I was able to come out today to fill in my calendar loops naturally. I headed to Saint Arnaud and up to this area for a few finds.I think I looked for this one before, but there were too many muggles, so I bailed. Today was better, so I was able to find the cache. TFTC.
7 februari 2024 12:32Dutchies in holiday in NZ. Hiking the Mt Robert circuit.TFTC,KrokoDit is mijn 910ste gevonden cache.
Today I went from Lake Rotoroa to Lake Rotoiti. My mission: get up Moint Robert and catch some caches to get to 500.I thought it would take longer to do the loop. My navigation predicted 3,75h to do the loop, so I assumed it would take around 5h with findig the caches. It took me a bit more than 3,5h to find 12 of 18 caches.#496
Tftc out on a multiday with victoriousone and mumandme, stayed an extra night at Angelus to do some exploring.
Our NEW ZEALAND - TASMANIA - AUSTRALIA JOURNEY takes us to beautiful places and provides us with an incredible number of wonderful moments and experiences.Occasionally we also visit a few GeoCaches along the way.Done, we are back at the car park. We have had two wonderful days of hiking here. In the end, we also found this tin can....Thank you for placing, maintaining and caring snapfish2 from SwitzerlandPS: Translated with the Deepl app
Finally able to do a longer hike out here on the mountain, so great up here with the nice views and the cool track. Of course I had to collect all geocaches along the way. Never was a long search, so no special remarks about the hides. Thanks to all CO's!

After walking to Whisky falls we decided to drive up and check out the views.
I was wondering what a speargrass tree was.
Thanks for placing this cache

2725. Took a bike up too the top car park from the West Bay bank site. Good to find s cache after the hard graft up the hill. TFTC!!!
Yeah. After 12 days of hiking from Lewis pass to St Arnaud via waiau pass we made it out and back to civilisation. Thankfully this was a quick find as we caught up with a couple from speargrass hut that gave our family a lift down to St Arnaud. Thanks for the cache. The chikins from Brisbane.
I did the Pinchgut/Paddy circuit with a group of friends staying at Bushline Hut so, of course, took the opportunity to grab a few caches on the way... a good excuse for a rest break! This was an easy quick first find, TFTC!
Found that one on a sunny day on this beautiful island!Auf einem Spaziergang an einem sonnigen Tag auf dieser schnen Insel gefunden!Greetingsegdd
Took ages to find but at least I found it. Completed the circuit, now for the short jump back to the other carpark.
Lovely late winter aftetnoon caching around St Arnaud.
Approached a likely gz and my GPS suggested 16m north, so I bush bashed to an unlikely spot and ended up following the GPS in a spiral back to my original spot, where i made a quick find. All good fun

TfTC, found them all today on the circuit. Awesome day walk. Couldn't ask for better weather today.
Nice quick easy find after long walk down from bushline hut with help from paddle chick I grabbed the cache and signed it. Tftc
Quickly found on day 3 after spending a great night at Angelus hut. And this was the last cache of my trip. My car is waiting for me.
Thanks for hiding.
Thanks for hiding.
Great start to the morning! Once we had given a few muggles a head start, it was a pretty easy find. Onwards and upwards! TFTC
Quick find. Our first Cache on the start of the Mount Robert Circuit. Looks like we picked a good day for it. Tftc with jakesrage
I am up in the area for a week of work and today was my day off so up Speargrass Creek I go. This was my 15th find along the way after a quick look for this one on the way in I managed to easily get it on the way out. Raining now. Done, done, on to the next one. And, the last one for today.
Turns out I haven't done decent tramping in a while...I thought they'd still have intention books at the start of a tramp like this or down in St Arnaud...turns out it's all online so although friends and family know where I'm going...here's another intentions note...and here's to many more caches found along the Spearheads track to Angelus hut. Starting a little late but we'll get there
TFTC! A straight forward find but a perfect way to start a tramp! (IMO)

Second find today for TEF and NZ5 as we explore short walks around St Arnaud. Looking forward to the day we can take Miss 6.5 and Master 9 further on to a hut! TFTC.
Having a weekend away in Nelson after a long lockdown Drove up to St Arnaud to enjoy some beautiful scenery and walks. A very cold start but we soon warmed up. Thanks to the COs - We can’t wait to come back Coming back to do some walks TFTC
One upside from the recent lockdown period is that it gave me the opportunity to think about some day walks and overnighters that I've wanted to do for a while but never got around to. So, with NZ regaining some sense of freedom I set off for one such walk - the Mount Robert circuit.
Too busy here at the start of my walk but far fewer people here now; still loads of cars parked though so the quiet wont last for long.
Plenty of looking but no finding until I returned far closer to the track than I thought likely.
There you are!

This was the last one at the Mt Robert Circuit, also with very accurate coordinates! A wonderful hike, but unfortunately very popular. We met 53 people during our walking tour. That's sad in comparison with our experience in the Nelson Lake NP many years ago. For us Europeans was it fantastic to have all these nice walks and hikes nearly for you alone. This is changing now. However we had a nice time here and especially due to all these great GC. Thank you so much!

Todays mission was to hire a 4wd and head to St Arnaud to sign off the new virtual. We enjoyed our road trip. Now we are heading up Mt Robert for a look. Took a moment to locate. Now off to admire the views. SL. TFTC.

Yip, I signed me up, though actually not til we returned, and it was Speargrass we had in our sights today, not Pinchgut. We walked in as far as "Test My GPS". Part way back I had my GPS reading the distance to this cache as a kind of encouragement - - - so when it counted down to zero I grabbed the cache and signed the log. Can't help wondering who Paddy was and given that I know where two Paddy's Knobs are I can't help wondering if there are even more in the world. Thanks for the cache .
We have just finished walking to Speargrass Hutt and beyond through this wonderful beech forest. We started out at 8.30 and got back around 3.30. Now time to snag this sign. No I did not get the signifigence of the cache name and sign here. Dah. Finally snagged and tagged. Cheers
The Seagnoid, Toby and I are off to explore Speargrass Valley at St Arnaud. Leave Toby at track end and start walking.

Always thought this cache is confusing, given that it has nothing to do with Paddy's track, which is just back down the road aways. Stopped by here on our return from Speargrass, and for Taybeedragon to make this find (and another at the lookout yonder), and to drop in a TB.
#3875 We did the Mt. Robert circuit with our kids, both daughters 4 and 6 years made it by their own , we had really nice weather. Thanks for the cache, greetings from Czech Republic.
#640 Sunny monday morning was perfect to climb mount Robert and find some caches around the way. TFTC
Wasnt sure what the hint was so just scoured the area till we found what we were looking for. TFTC
#228 one quick after 3 days spent in the area. Mt Robert Ridge is amazing and we were lucky to do it in a sunny day. The rest was hiding in a forest from the rain.
A quick find here at the start of the track. One for me, Capperz had already claimed this. Thanks jackieandgrant.
I was planning a couple of caches, maybe local ones, for this Sunday until Capperz mooted the idea of a walk up Speargrass track. Had to say I had not researched it much, but he had been along it before on a return from Angelus when the cache pickings were slim. Apparently a few more now, and I think these were bugging him. So with my incursions into the St Arnaud area pretty much consisting of a couple of PnGs while negotiating the inland route to Chch and nothing more, I was up to exploring a track and getting some exercise.
Arrived probably just after 9 am, parked up and got stuck in. It was a pretty steady walk and we made good time. Checked rodent traps as we went, something we are trained in from our Grovetown lagoon experiences, and are pleased to say we ‘released’ one victim. The caches themselves were all found, the odd one or two offering challenges due to GPS flutter, clue interpretation or whatever, but all in good shape.
Reached the hut, lunched and took the side track to the satellite cache which showcased an impressive boardwalk, interesting change of vegetation and a nice view to boot; then turned back for the trek home. Gotta say the constant dodging of tree roots along this track which made the trip there interesting soon made the trip home a bit annoying. In spots anyway. But again we made good time, pretty much having it to ourselves apart from a group we found trying to retrieve a shoe from a bog.
So thanks for all the caches. This is going to be a cut and paste log so sorry for that, but an indication all was good as we moved through.
