It was a lovely sunny day today so I decided to make my way back out here to find a few more caches in this series throughout the afternoon. I have already found a large portion of this Woodlands series, and was hoping to tick a few more off today. I had a very successful time caching while I was out here as I managed to find every cache I had intended to. There are still a few more caches remaining in this series I need to find, including the final, so I think that one more trip out to this area will be required in the future. Cache was a quick find, but when I reached for the container, I had somehow grabbed a different one. I then realised there were actually two containers, each with a logbook, hidden at GZ for some reason. Accidentally leftover from a previous maintenance run I suppose? One of those containers was certainly more deteriorated than the other! I signed both logbooks and placed both containers back in the same spot together before continuing on my way.TFTC
Checked on this one today.Replaced the log.Sharpened the pencil. All good to go.
Out with Geobro and up from the Bellarine for the day attempting to complete this seriesTFTC
TFTC.....this one took a little longer to find, but we got there in the end. Signed the log and continued onwards with only a couple more left to do today.
I had started this series about 8 years ago and was left with 10 yet to find. Today and_me and I carried on where she left off 2 weeks ago, and this allowed me to finish off the series.Weary legs made a quick find. TFTC.
On secondment to Melbourne, Australia, combined with short holidays here and there. Day 44/74, Tuesday. After working remotely today from my AirBnB apartment in Keilor Downs, I drove to the Woodlands Historic Park in early evening. I enjoyed this visit SO MUCH! Well, except that it was really hot for a Finn, 33 degrees. Other than that, this was an amazing evening. First of all, I saw so many kangaroos! Between 100 and 150, easily. They were all over. I love the kangaroos!! Secondly, this geocache trail is GREAT! I found all the caches (ah, no, there was one DNF - but all the others) quickly. The coordinates were very good. All the caches were in great condition. I also appreciated the hints A LOT! So, 26 finds and 1 DNF today. I will definitely come back here. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!Thanks for the cache and greetings from Vaasa, Finland! Logged with [GCDroid](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gcdroid).
On the final run to finish this series. Started 11 April 2012 and done four visits. Motivated to finish so I can also sign off https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC5P30V_cache-hider-challenge-victoria (100 caches by one CO) which I found in 2016. The kids were busy, so we escaped for a few hours. Thanks for this series. It is such a beautiful location, and I hope it is preserved for generations to come.
A lovely mild day so I loaded up the deadly treadly and set off to finish off the Woodlands series. The last time I was here the Back Paddock was all locked up and no information about when it might reopen. Fortunately, it was open today.I started at #70 - Take Off, which was a good title as the planes were taking off to the north, so I could hear them roar all morning. I think they might have driven the kanga bouncers to another section of the park though, as I saw none.It took me a couple of hours to clean out the Back Paddock and edges of 30 caches. Thanks for keeping this series in such a good condition. Thanks, Robmc.
After a decent search. Getting spooked by a fury friend living inside, moving a bone rib cage and reading past logs for more hints I'm fairy certain this one is missing.
The gates were all locked. I need the five in this area to complete a Challenge Cache.
My kids and hubby are at two different camps with Scouts. I set myself a goal to complete this series so I could sign off a Challenge cache of 100 caches owned by one CO. Unfortunately, five are behind a locked, fenced off area for Eastern Barred Bandicoot. It was an amazing day with the weather being perfect. I started at 11am & finished at 5pm. Big day!!

Glad I didn't have to reach or search amongst the bones remanants at this cache- looks like a cache guardian or 2 died from bordom. In true Melbourne fashion, its 18 raining and blowing a gale today. Such a stark difference to walking the area In 30+ degree heat.
Back to Woodlands today to continue working through this series. This was our fourth trip here so far. Last time we had aimed to get the geocaches in the back paddock but it was locked. Today luck was on our side so away we went.
Our first find of the day let us start our 2023 geocaching journey with our 400th find. Then we continued chipping away at this series. Three and a half hours and 10 kilometres later we had ticked off another 29 geocaches and made our way back to the car, beating the rain and storm.
Made a friend while finding this cache.

After dropping some family off at the airport, I continued tackling this series. It was very warm today, and most of the trails were out in the open. I packed some sunscreen along with my water bottle and made sure I was reapplying it every couple of hours.
All up I walked 11.5km today, and took care of a little under 30% of the entire series, only a few more visits, and I'll have them all done!
All caches were found in good condition, with a few exceptions.

A day trip down to do the Woodland series of caches.
Took our bicycles and FUF009 came with us.
Arrived at the gate, unloaded our bikes, had a cuppa and off we went getting our first cache at 8.55am.
We worked our way through the series stopping several times to watch the coming and going of the jets at Tullamarine.
After a long warm day with several challenges, we arrived back at the car park for a rest and well earned cuppa.
We put the clues together, punched in the co-ords and went and claimed the final cache of the series.

Well this has been a long time coming, to do the Woodlands caches. Many a plan has fallen through due to health and pandemic and work issues. But finally all was on our side for a cracker geocaching day to end 2022.
With bikes loaded up we were off, left St.Arnaud just before 6am and had the first cache signed at 8.55am. Then it was just one by one, following the GPSr.
From flowing trails to bush bashing (with and without tall grass) and even a bit of water, we had a lot. All the while the sounds of planes going overhead, birds around and the odd 100 roos thumping the ground when we disturbed them.
We managed to make good time and accomplish all we set out to do. Despite the heat and a couple of hills I had to walk up.
We believe luck was on our side with the back paddock being opened, after seeing so many had commented on it being shut.
All in All, personally, it was great to finally get this series done with a couple others thrown in that are in the park.
Oh and by the way, we got back home just after 9.30pm. A big days outing.

Oh dear, more long grass, wish I put the gumboots on for protection, I'm just a big scary cat!
Out and about on our bikes early today trying to beat the heat and continue our Woodlands quest. Loving being the first in all the new log books. Thanks for all the effort you’ve put into this great series. We look forward to finishing it soon.
That was gross.. a dead animal was next to the cache.. I had to move the claw but other then that cache is all good. Thankyou
47 Woodlands caches today - my legs are so sore now. Kids at school so off i went. Had planned to do a few others but there was a BIG fence in the way so I’ll have to remember that for my next visit. Lots of kangaroos out today. TFTC.
Bandicoot rangers there so received great lesson on bandicoots
For the first time in Australia they have managed to remove a species from the most serious threat. They have been doing their conservation work for over 30 years.
We thought there was a bandicoot in the trap but just a lazy old possum
Tftc and for bringing me to this wonderful place

The eastern barred bandicoot enclosure was open, and therefore I had a chance to claim some of the caches I couldn't get to on earlier occasions.
Thanks for the cache Team Woodlands.

Out on what seems to be an annual event, hunting caches in the Woodlands series with Team_Roberts1 on January 9th! With the two junior members of Team_Roberts1 on bikes we attacked the southern section of this series today finding 31 caches in total, great way to spend a lovely summer day.
We turned back towards home after #25 and followed the fence before entering the bandicoot area to hunt the caches within - so it was probably a 1 km mostly uphill walk between caches this time and passing a couple I had already found so it was a relief to be hunting again! This was a quick find once at GZ.
Thanks to Team Woodlands for this one and the series.

Great day of caching with littlemerpip.
27 ticked off the list. Thanks so much to Team Woodlands for such an incredible series of caches.

I started this series late last year and was determined not to leave it too long to complete it. Today was perfect, not too hot, not too cold and quite dull so no glaring sun to make the screen hard to see. This is an excellent series in a beautiful bush setting not far from the city. If grass seeds where gold my socks would be rich!
Found with team milljrh as we tackled the next installment of the Woodlands 100 series. Enjoyed our afternoon in this gorgeous park. No DNFs (huzzah) but still some left for next time. I love this park. Thanks for such a great series and hours of covid safe entertainment.
ERMMEHGAWD ITS FINALLY OOOOPPPPEEEENNN! Only took 3 months and missed a few days here and there. 3 trips to find it closed, 5 phone calls and TODAY WAS THE DAY!
Gates are now unlocked.
Checked on this one today.
Replaced the log so happy finding again.

All of the caches in the Woodlands 100 series are being disabled due to the current crisis.
Some of the caches need maint and won’t be attended to till the conditions are right to head back into the park.
So everybody stay safe and start solving puzzles for when we can all head out.
Thanks

Good hide for this one... except it wasn’t in there. Found on the ground so popped back in to it’s likely hiding spot.
Got a call from BackPAQer asking if I wanted to head out and do some caching, let's finish the woodlands series he says... what an awesome idea, we started the series just over a year ago and completed sixty nine in woodlands out of the one hundred and ten total caches in the park.
So BackPAQer rocks up at 8am and we load the bikes and head out for the day. Weather is perfect at twenty Celsius and overcast with the sunny shining through every so often and such a light breeze. I had not taken the bike out until the previous time we attempted this series.
Well it was a highly successful day as we managed to complete the woodlands one hundred series even find the previous did not find cache. We worked out the multi in woodlands as well and solved the mystery. A hundred percent success rate for today.
Also left a travel bug in number one hundred the mystery.
Sorry this log is generic for all finds.
Thanks for the cache and the hide

Départ pour 15 km de promenade dans woodland parcs. Quelques parties de cche cache avec les kangourous pour agrémenter la promenade.
Have flown down to Melbourne from Sydney for a 2 week training course at the Melbourne Tullamarine Airport Air Traffic Control Centre, but my main interest will be in collecting as many Victorian (VK3 in HAM radio terms) caches as possible during my free time away from the workplace. My primary caching target areas will be the Woodlands Historic Park (with it’s 100 plus caches), the Moonee Ponds Creek Trail, the Outer Circle Railway Trail, the Donaldson’s Creek Trail, the Ruffey Creek Trail, Eltham (Diamond Valley Railway), and the suburbs surrounding my Essendon apartment. This was the 35th of 85 finds for the day, and the 118th of 242 finds for the trip.
With only one weekend available to me for private activities (between the two weeks of training) I planned to make the most of it with some serious caching activities lined up for both days. Today (Saturday) was to be the biggest day with a serious attempt at completing the mammoth "Woodlands 100" cache powertrail located around Historic Woodlands Park, which I had started doing on my Melbourne arrival day last Sunday.
After a disappointing DNF at #75 I thankfully returned to making nice quick finds at this next one. TNLNSL, and then replaced as found. TFTC Team_Woodlands.

Caching day at Woodlands Historic park, showers in the morning then fine in the afternoon. Awesome power trail series, sore heels from long walk but it was worth it. Only saw four people, lots of kangaroos, a few rabbits, birds & aeroplanes. Thanks Team_Woodlands for placing the cache.
A few months ago SSRAT AND GOOSE paddled over from the island of all things AMAZING ️
(In case your a little slow it’s TASSIE)
This trip was to finish what we failed at a year earlier which was to ‘Smash woodlands’ in one day
Anywho, so around we went and nailed the rest of the series on this trip whilst keeping Richard away from any bikes that could ruin the chance of finishing our TASK
Sorry for generic logs but we did have and amazing time in this area and a ton of laughs were had.
Tftc’S !

At the Woodlands today with the O’Gomells on a birthday outing. Our mission today is to finish this series. TFTC
Well it's a return tip to the big island for myself and goose of gooseandegg, many many moons ago along with 1Toolman we tried to do all of the woodlands series in one day, we had planned it well or so we had thought but a puncture on one of the bike stopped us dead in our tracks and the plan of doing it all in one day was dead
Today 749 days later we traveled up from Hobart to finish the Woodland series with the 1Toolman as our driver/guide, the weather was looking like it was going to rain all day but we got away with a couple of light showers for a few minutes with the big clouds staying away unlike last time where we were finding caches in a thunderstorm.
We started on the Eastern side and worked our way round enjoying our caching and taking our time unlike last time, we found easy hides, nasty ones and a few throwdowns, pulling in a few outside the series and after 7 hours we had at long last the woodlands was found.
Along with the woodlands we collected a few other caches before heading home, the weekend was a great laugh with good mates with us laughing for a couple of days at one thing or another.
Thanks for the caches.

A little over two years ago we made a bold statement about flying over to Melbourne and knocking off the Woodlands series in a day. Well that went out the window due to a flat tyre but that is all laughable history now. Returning today to finish it off on foot, I really enjoyed the walk seeing so much more this time rather than zipping past everything on a bike (or pushing it for a while). Stainless steel rat, 1toolman and I braved the dismal weather forecast and ended up being pretty lucky with only a short shower during the middle of the day trying to put a dampener on things. Yeah we got a little moist but soldiered on regardless and soon dried out in the gusty breeze. The history, the views, the wildlife, the company and the laughs all made this adventure thoroughly enjoyable.
Thanks to team woodlands for this great series, it only took us two years to complete.

Another day and with a welcome cool change I thoght it wise to get some exercise in. So I set off for the balance of the Woodlands series including the final and then onto clean up the balance of another series, Walkies down in Oak Park.
Most caches were found with only a couple eluding my gaze. Thanks to nirgalagrin for the company on the Walkies series.

During a short visit in Victoria I could find this nice caches. If you have a little time to your conecting flight, you can do this very interesting Trail. Unfortunately, there were some three hours left, to do the whole tour. Here you can see a lot of kangaroos, which look strictly, what geocacher are doing.
Thanks for the caches!
