After a good nights sleep in the tent we set off to clear the caches placed since we were here last, for the trip i packed the inflatable Kayak, the extendable ladder, waders and the pushbike so we had the equipment for just about any cache, after hiding a few extras along the track we slowly made our way back to Whyalla, we managed to find all but 2 along here so another trip will be in order down the track. There were no fences stopping us accessing the cache.

I detoured across to the wrong side of the tracks again this morning
And what I found was what I remembered from last visit.
A local's rubbish dump
Sure 'nuff the locals are still using this patch of bushland for their henious crimes
The tyre tracks and freshly dumped trailer load of rubbish told me that I had missed meeting the buggers by only a day
The method used to dump the household cwap indicated that the perpetrators had done this sort of thing before
May they rot in hell !!
Close by the eyesore, I poked around for a cache.
There was one this visit
A brief bit of happiness in a sea of despair.

Thought it was a bit of rubbish to start off with but had a second look and figured it was the geocache

Found with Sully1, Snaphappy and The Empire, it was a very enjoyable road trip with lots of laughs all the way. A quick detour off the track to grab this one, it was a shame to see so much rubbish around here.
Found by The Empire with Snaphappy, Sully1 and wozzle68 (TEAM VIC)
A big day, starting in Whyalla, heading to Iron Knob and back again. Over 100 caches found for the day, plenty of laughs too! We started a bit before 9am and were finished a little after 5pm. Plenty of big trucks, trains and scratches on my legs along the way! We'd seen the knob, now it was back home (the motel) to Whyalla! Thanks to all the hiders for their effort.

We are on our way to the Mega event at Stanthorpe but on leaving Adelaide our gps lured us towards Whyalla to a long and not so windy road. The vegetation sure doesn't change much around here. Good to find the cache. Thanks to Moneydork for placing this cache.
A day to spend on the Whyalla to Iron Knob road, while many were a quick find some bore quite a challenge and some searching, enjoyed quite a few novelties as we cached along the road, had to skip a few with the muggle rail workers and there were the odd DNF not to say they are missing just were to good for us today, many a time we have gone back and said how did we miss that last time. Well done to all the hiders and those that maintain the caches for keeping them available for us to find TFTC, this was one we could not find!!
After a detour into the wastelands, I searched around for a bit, amongst the rubbish, to try and find this cache
No luck for me today, but I thought I was looking for a larger container, not a micro [:o]

[Blue]# 9584 Found on the SA leg of our S.K.I.D.R.O. adventure.[/Blue]
Many of the FTF trail visited today while at Whyalla for a few days.
Not many muggles along this road and not many cachers here lately either.
At this GZ 2 bikers were preparing for a bush ride. Lots of rubbish around too.
The size is not Reg any more, more like a micro, and well hidden from muggles.
Thanks for the cache Moneydork,

We found this cache today, while doing the FTF PT series.
Whyalla has a good variety of cache types, and hides for the area.
A quick find, and the cache is in good condition.
Many thanks for the hunt today, Moneydork.

Our 3rd DNF today.
[red]We wasted quite some time here at around 1:39:00 PM, but we couldn't locate the cache amongst the broken TV's and other miscellaneous rubbish. (Reading the previous logs later in the day, we now know why. Maybe an update to the cache page is in order. [:(!])

Found on a trip to Googs Track with Freddo, Astro, Firesafe, Honeysucker, Gum Ako, TK2, DISK.
We were away for a week and found about 200 caches and had 7 dnfs.
Thanks to all who placed caches we found.

Well I drove out and replaced this one today after having a good look around where I had preciously found it. As this area seems to be regularly visited by people who really don't care much about the area I have moved it about 25m from it's original spot.
It is now at S32 58.708 E137 27.513
It is a black mint tin at the base of a tree under some mulch, please re-hide it as found so it won't be muggled too easily.

I went with Dad to re-hide this one so I signed the log at the same time. TFTC.
I think I will go out and check on this one soon as it is a good spot for a cache. Seeing I am doing maintenance for Moneydork in this area I will take a replacement cache with me when I do and try and hide it as close to how it was when I found it.
It's been raining a lot lately so I chose to walk in. Sadly a few dump sites spotted along the way . At GZ there are tree limbs snapped off and discarded all around the area. A 44 gallon drum with some rubbish in it and a broken TV. DNF
South Australia 2013 with Sol de Lune. We headed off on 12/4 and arrived home on 28/4. The trip was to visit the SA series so more time could be spent at the Mega itself next year. We did a huge variety of caching around Murray Bridge, the Mid North, Yorke Peninsula and Whyalla Region. Apart from one wet night and two wet days we were able to spend heaps of time caching.
Today we were doing the FTF trail between Whyalla and Iron Knob. There was time for some other caching at both ends. Some of these aches were fiendish today and we had an annoying number of DNFS. Everyone has done a great job of placing a great variety of caches and we had a great day.
Thanks.

After meeting a few local caching teams for dinner Wednesday night we headed off to Mallala to try our luck at the power trails here,as we liked the theme behind each one. We got through "It's a small World" yesterday but ran out of light. We camped locally for a nice early start first thing in the morning. This one lived up to it's name quite well except if you happen to have a camper trailer on while you are doing it. The u-turn took a lot longer than finding the cache did but we are happy to say that we have added our name to the log and also that we got to meet up with the cache owner later in our trip
Thanks Moneydork for the cache.
Thanks Moneydork for the cache.
Found the cache lying in the open on the ground. I suspect it had been removed from its hidey hole by some local wildlife looking for lunch. I put it back where I thought it was supposed to go and covered it with bark, but it may suffer the same fate. As noted before, the cache is now a micro (eclipse tin), not a regular.
The previous finder had skipped a page in the logbook, leaving with me with an awkward decision to make. Do I continue after his entry so the logs are in date order, or fill in the missing page? I chose the latter.
Thanks Moneydork.

A nice quick find of the replacement cache by the lad once we drove out to it. TFTC.
The area had been picked over and the cache was obviously missing. We made a temporary cache and replaced it. You may need to check it though.

Looks like a recent camper had used portions of the log hiding the cache for fire wood, the cache container and log log were probably the kindling. Phoned the recent finder and cache replacer to confirm the cache type and location only to confirm it was long gone. Replaced with a small eclipse container and hid on the log with a small piece bark to conceal it's cover.
I suggest this is checked upon soon as finder will be looking for a regular but I only had a micro on me. It may pay to move the location a little further away from the camp site too, that log is just too inviting for fire wood
Cheers & Happy Hunting,

As I said below, we replaced the cache. Nice to see a fellow cacher took advantage of this. [8)][8)]
Thanks to Moneydork and clear skies from TeamAstro.
Thanks to Moneydork and clear skies from TeamAstro.
Drove to GZ from Blackhill. Not as much mud this side. GZ appears to be a camping or stopover area with loads of recent bike and 4WD tracks in area, up and over bushes, logs cleaned out etc. Spoke with past finder to confirm cache is missing.
All keen and eager walked to GZ from the Main Road, But ended up with a DNF, [?] Maybe another time. Lots of Motor bike Tracks at GZ.
A nice little cache in a new area for me, the 2WD car made it easily without drama and the cache was easy to find once out there. Took nothing, left a few trades.
Typical! new cache the day my car is in for repairs! Well, as soon as I got it back it was time to put some mud on the 4x4 after some good rain today! nice quick find! Mr woodsy logging the cache while Tom hoses the car off!
