5 August 2012 I was last here and managed to DNF this geocache. Over seven years! And I have returned to Crows Nest and Toowomba many times since then and for whatever reason, never attempted this hide again. As such, it has the distinction of being my 'longest unrectified DNF'! What an accolade! And I assure you, it has niggled me by being a blue sad face on my map for all of that time.

Today I was driving by with no particular place to be at any particular time. A friend yesterday suggested a drive and I suggested Toowoomba. So that's been our afternoon. Now we're heading back to Brisbane via the Esk-Hampton Road, a favourite drive of mine. My phone is on the dash, with the geocaching map slowly scrolling by. Too late I spot that sad face and realise we missed the southern exit for it. She suggests we grab the next one and find it anyway.

It was raining just minutes ago, so when we hit the red dirt, there is no dust cloud. Just a fine spray of mud that will inevitably cover my white car. Helped by the fact we do 85km/h down the red road. We get to the corner, right on top of the icon on my map and park up and hop out.

One thing strikes us; the intense silence of this place. It feels properly rural, the sound-deadening of water on everything is apparent and aside from a gentle puff of breeze and an occasional, distant moo, there is nothing. I follow the phone the last few metres to the geocache and we make a quick find at 17:01. Pretty easy after waiting seven years for the privilege.

She noticed we were on the corner of an avocado farm, so we poked our nose in quickly to see what avocado trees look like. Trees, with avocados, as it turns out. We both thoroughly enjoyed this random little spot at some dirt crossroads. After I take a panorama of the view, we head out the other way and soon back on the New England. Thanks for this geocache (and replacing it in Oct 2012) krossbo Smile

20-Dec-18
Out checking the bees and had an opportunity on the way back to pop into the forest

At GZ, clueless again and then thought I’d figured out the (puzzle) hint but no cache there. I went back to my original search location and the cache was staring me in the face. Um, how did I miss that? Happy to convert this to a smiley as Sooty needs a car wash and the roads through here are orange.

Seems to be an orchard here? May be abandoned ‘tho the trees look healthy.

TFTC krossbo!

Found the teeny beasty right where the hint suggested. Seeing as the paper was past it's used by date we replaced, then left a mark for all of us as QQ on the log to save space.

Watch out for the crazy local muggles hooning through the intersection here! Surprised

Thanks for the cache krossbo Big Grin

No chickens today, just a cache with a crushed up ruined log sheet. Nf replaced the log paper.

15/12/18 4:00 pm Find #2297
Arriving here it did not take us too long to make our find. However the logsheet was destroyed so we have replaced the logsheet. Signed as QQ to save space, we were surprised at the craziness of a local 4wd driver who absolutely floored it down this road and through the intersection- good thing no one else was coming through at the time or there'd be more than just a cache lying around here!
Thanks for the cache krossbo.

Spent the weekend in Brisbane at a conference and naturally took some extra time to go Geocaching. So conference is over, now time for some serious caching. Headed out to Toowoomba for a few days to cache around the area. We much prefer small towns and country caching to big city caching.

Today we drove up to Lake Perseverance caching and exploring. Took a detour through the forest to pick up the series there. Another one for Mr S. Pretty quiet in the forest today only two cars so far. Log is mush so we signed a scrap of paper which was all we had with us.

Thanks krossbo.

We came upon your cache, krossbo, while travelling from Crows Nest on our homeward journey to Brisbane, after enjoying the 2017 Rural Safari event.

That ol' chicken wasn't too highly strung so we just let her be.

Log signed and replaced at 2:09 pm on 3 December 2017. TFTC.

02-Dec-17
A nice drive down the trail to grab these caches. Dodging the showers as we go.
Thanks

Heading to Crows Nest for the 2017 Rural Safari event tomorrow, and it's only logical to visit a few new or previously unfound caches along the way.

Thanks for the hunt **krossbo**, this find makes Smile #4512. Discover our TB

**Smilie #4767**

We decided to take on Toowoomba & surrounds again today as there are SO MANY coloured dots that need to be converted to yellow here! LOL ...

At first we just weren't seeing it but all of a sudden it was a case of 'Aha! That chicken!'
Made our mark & replace as found.

30-Jul-16
I think we were really pushing it when we stopped again to find another cache - it came quickly to hand, but the groaning for food from the 4 hungry children in the backseats became unbearable.

It was our own fault -we had only planned a picnic morning tea at Crows Nest and then straight back home - and we were almost at 2pm by now, with no food left.
So My new caching mantra is - take more food!!!

At this point, we decided to abandon the rest of the trail and head for some food, seeing as we have to come back oneday to find the previous cache anyway.

Thanks for trail krossbo - we will be back!

15-Jul-16
Day 1 of my camping weekend at Crows Nest Big Grin teamdfl and I have made our way from Brisbane, taken our first big hike, had lunch in Hampton, and now we are picking off a few of the nearby caches [^]

We thought we'd be taking a walk around the plantation, but a read of a few logs showed driving was the way to go. The road has recently been graded, making things easier. All the co-ords were spot on, and the caches came to hand easily. TFTC trail, krossbo.
