Adelaide and South Australia Trip Christmas 2021/2022. Day 16. The next phase of my journey is underway. I am in Loxton. I was with Fitzy_1965, MinnieK, Sol de Lune and Smitten Granny to attempt to finish the On You Bike where-i-go caches. We have managed to solve them all before we arrived. Day 6 in the River land. As we had accomplished the On your Bike caches, the others headed back east to stop at Mildura for the paddle steamer caches, but I am based in Adelaide at the moment, so could not go. I spent the day out and about collecting caches in the region before heading to Lake Bonny and then Berri, finishing the day in Katarapko National park.
This trip to Loxton had been a year coming as I had missed out last year due to other commitments. The group had increased and the target list of caches was much higher. It had been a group effort to deal with all the jigsaw puzzles and then the Reverse Where-i-gos were sorted out with the various online tools. The trip was looking at risk as the COVID situation stretched and stretched, but at least SA kept to its plans to open the borders and we all jumped through the hoops required to get across the border. The weather was looking extreme as the journey approached and it did not disappoint. The daytime temps were from 36-42 over the days of this exercise and it made for some hard work and lots of water usage.
I ventured into Luna reserve to visit the caches here. It looks like a great area, and I should stop by for an overnight stop one day. Lots of great caches.
Thanks for the cache crane2

Sir_spectre and I had a quick getaway to the Riverland. We were targetting the less found caches. We found an assortment of caches, and as regular for us manged to replace containers for several and put some fresh logbooks in others. It was a rather hot weather for a weekend of caching but the air conditioned car gave us some relief.
Thanks to crane2 from mogni

Quick find.
Out with the Mogni for a short trip out to the riverland, only 3 days. It was hot first 2 days where 40 degrees and the last day was 33 degrees. Since the rules just changed about covid 19 testing before and after entering vic to no testing, we changed our plans on the way up and decided to go via Murray Sunset National Park. The idea was to find as many caches as we could that haven't been found recently most hadn't been found in 3 months. On day 1 we replaced 10 out of the first 12 caches, all broken container and 1 log book replaced, and by the end of the day had a heaped medium bin liner bag full of broken containers, the hot mallee sun doesn't do the plastic containers any good. Day 2 saw us caching around Loch Luna and lake Bonney which is way easier driving around here in the dry then in the rain like my last visit here. Onlt 1/2 a medium bin liners back of replaced containers today, people must fix the closer to the highway caches more often. On day 3 it was back in to the mallee country and home via Pinnaroo. Getting those " out of the way caches ". Plenty of dirt roads where driven down and many, many back sandy tracks taken. It was good to explore all the country areas and stay off the highway.

Caching has fallen by the wayside with everything that has been going on, work, lockdowns, blah, blah...so we needed to get away for a bit of R&R after lockdown so headed to Loch Luna for the weekend to refresh and cache!. Woohoo! I love this type of container, well done! But Who...Really Who thinks its okay to put a packet of Chewing gum in a cache..seriously, use your brains! DON'T LEAVE FOOD OR LOLLIES IN A CACHE....Removed and binned. TFTC
The track feels better now not so many ripples in the track. But another cache another smilie TFTC
Took a houseboat from Waikerie up to Chambers Creek, and then kayaked up Chambers today, picking up 6 caches whilst enjoying the peaceful surroundings.
Moored the yak and the took a short stroll to this cache. Log signed.

Headed to Kingston on the Murray for the Easter weekend what a lovely spot. Lots of great geocaches to be found on our quest to reach 4000.

Spending the rest of the week up at Cobdogla, so what better way to relax than going geocaching!
Picked up a few of the caches that had been on my list for a while now, great to be able to mark them off.
Got an early start this morning, and found a total of 12 caches this morning, with this being find number 9 for the morning.
After my last attempt at caches in the Loch Luna Game Reserve, I came back prepared this time, and unlike last time, waited until the warmer weather so the tracks were nice and dry.
Can't get over the size of the cache, first one of these that I have found!
Thank you crane2 for a great cache!

Brodie, muggle partner and I were at Berri for an event yesterday at our 'home' for the weekend
Today was head for our real home day and I was supposed to be back in Adelaide by 6.30pm for a meeting but at 8pm, we were just leaving Barmera
There was just too many great spots to visit and caches to find
All up, 40 caches for the day (well, 40 after we had been to bed and slept ) and the last 2 were FTFs which required a small (about 20km) detour from our journey home.
Unless mentioned otherwise, please know that your cache and log book was in good condition.
The plants, which appeared to be bulbs of some sort, are all dying off now so they weren't very pretty but the cache sure was
Love a large cache [^]

Family day out at the Monash Mammoth Markets and whilst out best take the CatKids Geocaching in the area. We love these hides out bush right away from muggles. What a beautiful spot and gorgeous patch of flowers. TFTC
Always love a ammo box kind of fitting for a game reserve so we thought this would be a safe place to leave a trackable, Good luck this time hope you don't go off the grid again

The bulbs are looking a little parched at the moment - would be interesting to see them in flower. Cache was found easily and is in good order. TFTC crane 2.
A bit of a sandy walk and a lot of the plants had been pulled up with bulbs drying up. TFTC
We got to do this while while enjoying Berri and the nearby locality. We spent the long weekend in the Riverland as part of attending the Dorks two events. Beautiful weather, lovely scenery and a pleasure to find this cache. Thanks to crane2 for placing this cache.
After sleeping-in and visiting the bakery and the tourist information centre, we decided to drive through this conservation park this afternoon. An interesting place we'd never have visited if not for caching.

I spent the morning wandering around Loch Luna park chasing geocaches. Nice area never been here before. Though my magna was complaining about the corrugations in parts. The shrubs now have colourful seed pods on them.
I'll have to come back to camp sometime! TFTC crane2.

A moon garden ??
I could not wait to explore
There are some beautiful campsites along this bit of Chambers Creek and I was planning on spending the night at one of them
After I found all the caches around the place though !!
Here in the garden there was a lot of the plant in the photo.
I don't think it is an introduced or invasive alien species though.
Almost certainly it is the Darling Lily (Sagittaria platyphylla)
A pretty plant that gives a luxuriant greenness to the otherwise muddy banks

Still leisurely touring South Australia after the Mega
Now camped up at Plush's Bend for a few days it was time to head back towards Barmera to find some caches and explore the area.
Some very interesting history and some awesome scenic spots that Geocaching took us to today. [^]
We hadn't realised we could drive to the caches here in the reserve but on seeing the entrance from the nearby cache Go'n'do - Napper's Ruins we decided we should tackle these before the rain of the next few days. Quick find here, not surprised though with the current warm spell to find no campers in residence today.
Thanks for the cache and for helping us explore this area
