This weekend, I headed to Whyalla to catch up with a few other Geocachers and attempt some of the trails there. On Saturday, we targeted the FTF power trail from Whyalla to Iron Knob, and then spent the evening and the subsequent morning driving some of Whyalla's back tracks. On Sunday, I visited Cowleds Landing and back north, only to get severely bogged in one of Whyalla's clay pans. I then returned home via the August series.
Today, we started the day at a meet/greet breakfast event, and then I headed out with hevwalker and scramping for a few more geocaches south-west of Whyalla along the back tracks and main road, followed by the December trail series. I then continued south visiting Cowleds Landing and the proclaimed nudist beach. I next found *Potty Time*, only to realise that I had driven on the nearby clay pans, and then sank into the soft clay below on my way out. Eventually I had help in getting out, and finished my remaining time in Whyalla completing the pipeline August series, and calling into Whyalla Conservation Park for a few high favourite caches. I then made the long journey back to Adelaide stopping at a few miscellaneous geocaches along the way.
We had a pretty good search around GZ, but we couldn't find anything. The fence appears to be new, so we suspect that this cache may have gone due to the new fence erected. A CO visit to check on this cache is probably warranted. Thanks anyway Ekul1984 for the cache placement.

After a great day and evening of caching with hevwalker and Davidwazza yesterday where we did the FFT powertrail, visited Iron Knob, back tracks and miscellaneous caches of Whyalla we started off the day with an early breakfast event put on by Davidwazza. We arrived near to GZ to find a new fence and nothing that resembled a cache could be seen in area. CO needs to come and check this cache as I feel it's probably missing.
Quick easy find traveling from Port Lincoln to Port Augusta. SL TFTC and a Fav point for thinking outside the mint tin and sistema.

Heading out of Whyalla towards Cleve we stopped to look for a few roadsied caches, this was one of them.
There was some rubbish close by which we removed and led us to initially overlook this well camo'ed object. Having not found anything we followed our GPS backed to where it thought we should find the cache container and we spotted an interesting object. Should we touch it. We were glad we did as on closer inspection we located the well hidden cache. Log signed we returned it as found.
Thanks for this well crafted little cache Ekul1984. We appreciate the thought and effort that has gone into this hide. Definitely a favourite for a great little drive by.

On a Caching Adventure to Whyalla and Port Augusta, today was my last day (till 11:30 anyway) to grab some more hides to add to my 23 from yesterday (inc. 2 DNFs). I have found some "Rippers" whilst here that's for sure [^]
This one was 1st up on the Pt Lincoln side of town.
I had a bit of a poke here then a poke there 1st up but when my GPS settled i found myself in the right spot to make a quick find of a hide type i've seen before

A quick find here for an easy smiley...
Spending a few days in Whyalla and found a few cache, or 300!
Had managed to solve all the puzzles before coming over too.
Of the nearly 300 found on the trip over and back from Adelaide, 95% were found within 50km of Whyalla Central, with approx a dozen dnfs also. Amongst all the finds was my 17000th find.
Also managed a lot of 'unloved' finds too.
What is it with Whyalla and mint tins? lol
TNLNSL
Thanks

Travelling from Port Pirie to Port Lincoln today - this one was an interesting little hide. Thanks Ekul1984.
Day 4 of BarnZy and Cravo’s trip from Perth to Adelaide.
Today we travelled from Elliston on the Eyre Peninsula to Whyalla.
We kicked off relatively early, just before sun up and in some intense fog before starting our journey to Whyalla.
We travelled along the Birdseye Highway for the most part of the day, which was a fitting name as we needed an eagle eye to find some of the caches today.
Caching along the highway was good with a great variety of cache containers found, before heading into Lock, which was a very quaint small town, albeit we had little success finding the caches in town.
We moved along the he Cleve Cleaver series which was a great bunch of relatively quick finds, taking just under 2 minutes per cache as we started to get the rhythm of the caches along these parts. Great small power trail which kept us interested with some nice hiding spots.
Continuing along the highway we caches through Cleve, grabbing a few of the nifty letterbox hybrid hides which were most fun, were trying to collect more letterboxes which makes these caches really valuable.
After leaving Cleve we continued along the highway to Cowell, where we enjoyed a nice hot beef roll from the bakery for lunch before continuing up the Lincoln Highway towards Whyalla.
We arrived in Whyalla a little earlier than planned which was good as we had planned to complete the August series trail by torchlight. Before we completed the August series we eyed off a D5 cache Honeymoon Hilton which was an absolutely brilliant cache at a well staged ground zero and a brilliant hide, thankfully we didn’t have to resort to phoning the CO.
We then turned our attention to the August series and loved the quick finds of well setup containers. I thoroughly enjoyed the series.
We then cached around town and managed to pickup the 5/5 Schoolies Challenge, which we had managed to qualify quite some time ago.
We finished up with a great dinner at the camp kitchen at the caravan park we’re staying at.
Great day out and can’t wait to tackle the other Whyalla power trail tomorow.

Day 4 of the Perth to Adelaide trip where we started in Elliston and ended in Whyalla.
Today was about finding as many caches as possible and starting / warming up to the larger power trails that bought is over here.
We completed the cleve clever series with a find every 2 minutes, and the August series with around 2 finds a minute.
The day started with a slight sleep in as the travell today was considerably less all up after the 4th day 2900km travelled.
During the morning we would of done most of it through thick fog yet again for the rest half hour despite a later start to
Anyway we made more tracks to Cleve, Cowell and many more in between.
The day also included B12 getting his 11000th cache on cache “August 11” and a total find tally of 112 caches.
Ekul1984 I found your cache Welcome to Whyalla thanks for placing this hide for myself and others to find.
Dunsborough is where it’s all at this year check it out at GC7GXQA October 13th + 14th. Hope to see you all there at WA Goes Big 2018.

#6575 - 13:58; Day 8 of the Alice Mega Road Trip with Sol de lune and albida33, so most logs were signed S.A.L. as a result. Caching in and around Whyalla today and along the roads into and out of town we collected 69 finds and 6 DNFs. We visited many places of interest today in our travels and most of our finds were in good condition. We were now headed south out of town along the highway and caching our way towards a mini trail along another backroad. Found this one along the way, but more a a goodbye than a welcome for us today. Alice trip 2017. Day 6. With Sol de Lune and LuckL10n we spent today caching around Whyalla during a bit of s detour on our drive to Alice Springs. Heaps of caches with lots of DNFs we skipped but me managed a good day of caching.

On the road to the Alice Springs Mega with LuckyL10n and Albida33. We headed through Burra and Port Pirie before arriving in Port Augusta for the trek up the highway. Collected a good number of caches and all were found with no issues and the logs were soon signed. (Some logs were signed as S.A.L. to save space.)
Thanks for the cache and fun in getting to it and finding it.
Thanks for the cache and fun in getting to it and finding it.
Had to look around for a little while for this one which turned out to be a clever container.
Hi there Ekul1984.
We found your cache **"Welcome to Whyalla"** at 11:35:00 AM today. (This makes our find count 15802).
We cached around the Whyalla area today. On our trek we found a wide variety of container types. & ended up finding 20 caches with 1 DNF's.
Thanks for placing this cache here, without geocaching as our guide we would never have found so many interesting places on our travels. We awarded this cache a favourite point for the ingenious construction.
**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found the cache around 2m from where the GPS said we should be looking.
**Cache Condition:** The container and log book are in good shape.
**Took:** Nothing.
**Left:** A Smiley Badge.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards
Ian & Penny.

#1012 Seventh of forty finds on Day 4 of my Christmas and New Year's geocaching road trip to SA. Easy find after a short search. Nice way to celebrate Boxing Day on a overcast and stormy day in and around Whyalla.
CPwanderer, GoodLook and I headed off for a weekend in Port Lincoln via an overnight stop in Whyalla
Our weekend was unexpectedly extended by a day due to illness and so my tally at the end of the 'weekend' was 168 cache finds
Sadly this was marred by a massive 28 DNFs
Port Lincoln, despite being virgin caching territory for all 3 of us, did not provide us with the pleasure that we had anticipated
So many of the caches were bison tubes and those that we did find, quite often were in places where a larger cache could have been hidden The other issue was the lack of maintenance on many caches
There are people trying their best to maintain the 'wheres wolly' cache hides however their resources are stretched thinly..... so if you are heading over, please pack heaps of cache maintenance containers, bags and log books and help out where you can. [^]
That being said, the trip was still a blast and some great caches were found and great views were seen!
Now that's interesting camo
A quick find for us and then back on the road through Whyalla to Port Lincoln

A nice and easy find whilst in a great part of the state, I really like Whyalla!
Found whilst on a road trip with CPwanderer and Locus Cache, with the aim of the weekend to cache in and around Port Lincoln - fresh territory for us all. We certainly had a great time, however with a DNF rate of about 40% [:(!], it was tough going! We did however thoroughly enjoy the beautiful locations and scenery.
After joking all day on the Sunday we should spend another night in Pt Lincoln, circumstances presented that meant we needed to extend our time away! We took it slowly on the way home which enabled us to once again visit some terrific places

WE thought we knew where to look when we parked, but exhaustive searching revealed nothing. What could we be missing. There wasn't a lot of places to hide anything here. So another search ensued and that was when I saw the object that didn't seem to quite fit in with it's surroundings. That's when I knew I'd found it. I replaced exactly how I found it even managing to match the print on the ground.

Found by Mary & David, in company with pprass (signed as m & p), at 0920. Today David and pprass tackled the FITG caches and a few extras in Kimba and Whyalla, while Mary and cprass spent the day checking out the shops and tourist spots in Whyalla. This is our third day in Whyalla, and we're having a great time. Another quick find, and a well-disguised container. Our thanks to Ekul1984.

Day 3 for the BAM team at the June Long Weekend Event.
The BAM team (brisal5, Aussie M&M, and mogni) had a big night of celebrations after their shock win. Today was the day of packing up, doing a few remaining caches around town, saying goodbye to friends and doing a bit more caching on the way home.
The BAM team went our separate ways at Cowell. brisal5 and mogni took the ferry to enable mogni to catch a flight, and the two M's did the drive around, caching as they went. What a great weekend.
Found reasonably quickly as the camo..... well doesn't look like camo any more. I'm not sure what it was meant to be. TFTC Ekul1984.

Day 5 of our Whyalla trip.
We decided to do the FITG series today and boy is that one long dirt road....We also picked up a lot of the local caches in town and we ended up with 54 finds and no DNFS. Most caches were found quite easy and there were a few that was were quite tricky and one we had to use a ladder. Once again a good variety of cache containers and we also managed to pick up some puzzle caches on our journey today. TFTC
We decided to do the FITG series today and boy is that one long dirt road....We also picked up a lot of the local caches in town and we ended up with 54 finds and no DNFS. Touring Australia having left Perth in late February we are leisurely touring South Australia after having attended Oz Mega.
Today we moved camp to the caravan park so that we had access for power and water. So we arrived early and then proceeded to do 5 loads of washing.
Once the chores were done, lunch was had and we set off to tackle the local caches with numerous favourites before we leave town.
Clever cache but found quickly.

Mr ILT was up and about early in readiness to commence the first leg of our trip home to Perth.
But, as usual, all did not go to plan. When it came time to hook the caravan up the car would not start, the battery was dead, not a spark. Departure was delayed for a few hours while we sourced and installed a new battery. Thank heavens for Mr Felix who was there to lend a hand.
We decided to travel to Kimba via the back road with the intention of doing a few of the Moneydork caches along the way. We ended up doing them all, with one DNF, and a couple of extras along the way. And we could not leave Whyalla with out grabbing a couple on the way out. Thanks Ekul1984.

Day 3 of my trip to the Oz Mega in Murray Bridge with Mistraluna.
After a night at the Whyalla caravan park and the first real break in driving we went for a walk doing a few caches and then packed up before starting caching in earnest.
A quick find for this cache.
Thanks Ekul1984 for the cache.
(56 of 629 for the trip.)

Day 3 of our trip over to the Oz Mega event in Murray Bridge. Was exhausted last night after the all the traveling to get here, then the West Meets South event, but woke up this morning refreshed and ready to go again, anticipating lots of caches yet to be found. Thanks for the smiley Eku1984
Today, we tackled some dirt tracks, which wasn't the best of ideas, due to the recent rain.
A couple of spots were extremely soft & muddy, but the geo-cruiser never let us down.
We left some caches due to their placement, and hope to pick them up on another visit.
Found this cache, on our way to the dirt tracks - great hide.
Very good camo, a favourite point from us.
Thanks for the hunt today, Ekul1984.

We have returned from Canada to discover a few more Australian caches! What a great way to explore the "land down under."
Almost gave up but there it was sitting there the whole time in plain view. Great container. Deserves a fav.
Thanks for the fun Ekul1984!

Yay made it to Whyalla after starting today down in Port Lincoln.
It is suprising how long a drive can take once you start adding in caches.
Cache all good.

A Great weekend away doing the Googs Track with good friends. Lots of different scenery and a lot of fun
We had a great time seeing some good ranges of different styles of caches now it was time to grab a few caches around the Whyalla area.
Thanks for putting these caches out for us to find Ekul1984

After completing our trek along the Googs Track and back through the Gawler Ranges, it was time to rack up some numbers in the Whyalla area - gee there are a lot of caches around here.
Today our focus was on the FITG series then down south to Cowell and return to Whyalla. Started out early but didnt get back until 10pm. TFTC.

It took some time to search for and then Peter spotted an item. He was unsure whether to touch it and grabbed a small stick to test it out. What a great hide and a favourite from us. TFTC Ekul1984
After crossing the Nullarbor we went down the Eyre Peninsula from Ceduna to Coffin Bay on a windy, cool day with a few sharp showers. It was a lot better during a day at Coffin Bay National Park and enjoyed the views there. Next was a visit to Lincoln National Park, including the Stamford Hill loop with the Flinders Memorial and a geocache. Our last day was up the eastern side of the peninsula where we managed to get all our planned geocaches done before the sky's dropped down a mighty drenching during the drive between Whyalla and Port Augusta.

We are on our way to Cowell when we stopped to look for this cache,
took a little bit of hunting before we notice something a little odd, & there was the cache.
Worth a favourite point.
Thanks Ekul1984
