Logs
see all the sights of the mountain
and enjoy this as the cherry on top
it took a decent bit of walking
thankfully we planned out a route to minimise the ups and downs
but it still ended up being a reasonable day in the saddle
the day was lengthened by a long wait at a hut waiting out the rain
in the end, we just decided to bite the bullet
if the mountain is soaked, then we will be too
this cache was like the rest
a mighty spot
a mighty treasure
thanks for a good day out on the mountain
It's quite an effort just to get here.
The work was done so many years ago. A chance to go out with the boys for a little snow trekking. And what is so good about this, is that the final coordinates were not lost through several phones later.
Must be a miracle.
So taking our good fortune waiting for some more unloved, it was time to pounce.
So the bananas pounced.
And as to the glow, we will cool down soon enough.
And the most memorable experience exploring the huts was the Congo line of 20 Singapore College students not more 1 meter of separation.
The backs of the students in front obscuring most of the highlights along the tracks. That's no way the experience the great outdoors.
However, it’s been so long since we resolved this mystery we can’t remember how!
After checking the description Mrs Riddells’s thinking was that she cleaned up the clues on her epic 4 day hike in one of the preceding Easters.
Anyway we loved the walk-in today and the views are to die for... not that it was that difficult.
However, we can just about see every significant peak from here and are really enjoying it.
TFTC and onwards.
After the event on the previous day, we peeled out of the lodge and headed out for some easy caches - like this one! The original idea was to drive to Falls Creek this Morning and do the Fainter caches however a bad forecast for the arvo made us changing the plan. Where's the point in a 2.5h car drive in good weather? Exactly. The hike up this hill for the well-deserved precious price was fairly easy. Having perfect hiking conditions helps.
We sat at GZ for a while chatting and taking in the views for some time. This is really a good series which can be easily brushed off in a day if you want to. Or you take your time and enjoy the whole weekend. Finally we stumbled back to the car for some more caches and eventually had lunch with the CO family at the General. And the best part the day wasn't over yet. There were plenty of more Hotham caches to be found.
Thanks and cheers
Philipp

Find #4240
435 Days of unlove, this cache is now loved again.
After a massive 30km of high country hiking yesterday, today was a day for some easier caches around Hotham and surroundings with much shorter walks to get to the caches. I joined up with Day1976 and º for a great day of caching.
Yesterdays adventure got me what I needed to be able to find this one, so we headed up the hill for GZ. A simply stunning view across the valley and a great finale to this Awesome series.
A favourite point for the High Country location.
Thanks to skullracing for placing this cache. TNLN
[green] Brilliant![/green]
Well I did have good intentions of finding this cache in winter but life and bad weather seemed against this idea. So with the spring snow rapidly melting I just managed enough time to squeeze in one more days snowshoe trekking
This has been a fantastic days adventure, I've had it all sunshine, rain & a bit of fluff snow. And just enough snow on the ground to make the snowshoes worthwhile but not that much to make the cache finding impossible
Todays walk should hold me in good steed for next weeks [url=http://coord.info/GC4J8EN]"Winter camp event"[/url](In spring go figure). Cache found in excellent condition left nothing and took the unloved days
Thx Lex wishing you a full and speedy recovery, hope its not to long before your back on your feet placing more brilliant caches like this series
[green]Merci beaucoup
Cheers

I decided to enjoy a quiet evening after completing the Huts Walk, and save this final cache for the following bright but windy Saturday autumn morning. Yes, it was a challenge, but not too much even if I was a bit stiff from the day before. I'd recommend good shoes. I came from the south end, although I suggest it may be easier from the north. Of particular note is the old horse-track to Hotham Heights, which still attracts a few walkers.
From the road you would not know about the slopes that look so inviting for backcountry skiing, and even after coming up to Hotham for 25 years, I'd not been here. Of course, you can see it from Lawlers and even The General. But it's not until you come here that you see that the expanse rivals Mary's Slide and Lindsays, although with not quite the altitude. So this coming winter I'll be back to set down some fast and long tracks.
With winter on the way, I'd recommend cachers ensure the box is well-anchored and covered. The conditions here, especially with its exposed aspect, will be amongst the most severe of anywhere in Australia. Double boxing was an excellent idea.
Thanks again skullracing for bringing me here, and everywhere else along the way. I finally rewarded myself with some happy-face erasers, which I'll give to my young geo-daughters.
If you see me in the General, come say g'day, I'll shout you a geo-beer.

I fired up the Geo-Assault vehicle and put the coords into the trusty TOM TOM, he told me to turn around and drive 3.5Kilometeres, at this stage of the game if he told me to drive to the top of Mt Feathertop i would have..... i was keen as now.....a bit slow and stiff but........... keen as.
"Tom" told me i had reached my destination and right then and there i had a laugh and thought......."you hid it up there".....22kays, 8Hrs 45Mins later you want me to walk up there.
I got out of the car, didnt even lock it, my thought was who ever finds my body, well they can have the car.[:o]
The track was winding around a rather high section of Hotham, if one did loose there footing and started to fall it would be "Pull yer pants up Mary,,,,,ITS ALL OVER".Lucky for me this was not the case.
The closer i go to GZ the more i could see excatly where this one was heading.
100metres till i had the jackpot and the game changed......!
This was a steep climb to say the least, the lungs were just about bursting by the time i got to GZ.There was no snow at this cache so the find was quick..... the log book was signed i grabbed the FTF badge and the Bolt Puzzle, and then i sat for ages and enjoyed the sensational views and reflected on a day that wont beforgotten for a long time.
A fabulous series that was worth every step, thanks heaps for showing me some fantastic huts, some great walks and for showing me your twisted mind at the grand finale.[^]
