An easy find. We only had 1 cable tie, so at least got the cache off the ground . TFTC
OCW PelDroedGwin and geodog Peppa Staying close by we decided to focus on this area for a few caches today. Fun tracks to GZ. As the last finder mentioned the cable ties no longer secure the cache and it can be now be found much easier than the intended method. Unfortunately, we dont have any cable ties in the car to fix it up. Tftc
Went to put water in the cache and the cable tie snapped, otherwise the cache is fineWith a few days off I headed over to the northern Eyre peninsula for a 2 night stay in Whyalla, my main aim for the few days was the FITG and the FTF trail plus finding a few caches here and there along the way. Just under 300 caches found for the trip. Thanks for the cache
Camped at the Weeroona Sports Grounds for the night and headed out to tidy up a few caches. We drove most of the way to this one and with a full water container it wasnt long before we had the log signed and replaced Thanks akela0 for this adventure tftc
Walked through to the cache from the main road before realising we could have driven a fair amount closer. We brought about 10 litres of water which was well beyond what was needed, so the cache was quickly retrieved and signed and we headed back to the car. Found with rumpuslabs, tftc
Another cache found during our 2022 South Australia Adventure using Geocaching as our guide.
Thanks akela0, it took all the water we had on board today.
Thanks akela0, it took all the water we had on board today.
Continuing the cache hunt on the outskirts of Whyalla along with ilook4eo. It was a successful day and there were no muggles around in the places we visited. Each cache we found had its log signed before being returned to its hiding place. Thank you to akela0 for adding this cache to the game for us to find.
Had a good caching day out and about with goingplaces2. No problem with finding any of the targets or signing the logs. TFTC.
Full time nomads since 2014. Still tootling around the country trying to avoid Covid hotspots.
Back in SA for harvest work. Heading to Port Pirie but 4 days ahead of schedule so a quick detour to Whyalla was in order. There sure is a lot of puzzles here! Glad we had done the solving before arriving in town. Rain overnight meant there was some slip sliding happening as we tackled numerous off road tracks and climbs today. Good Fun in the Geo Cruiser [:o)]

So, it was the final day of the drive back to Adelaide and, having stayed in Whyalla overnight, the decision was made to spend the morning caching around Whyalla before making the drive back to Adelaide, finding caches along the way. It was a good start to the day as the finds were made quite quickly. Along with finding the caches at a quick pace, there were also quality hides in good areas. Once it got to about one in the afternoon, the decision was made to begin the journey back to Adelaide. As we drove, the occasional stop was made at a parking bay along the side of the road to find a cache, it almost seemed like there was a cache in every one. Finally, after a long day, we finally returned home and, unless otherwise stated, all caches were found in good condition.

On a road trip around the Mid North and Eyre Peninsula, geocaching as I go. Predominantly targeting old caches, solved mysteries and grabbing some interesting looking traditionals.
I didn’t have enough water on me so used a tool from below which did the job without problems.
Cache and outer holder are both in great condition.
Thanks for the cache akela0.

Away for a week on some R 'n' R from the shop and to recover from an exhausting 10th Birthday celebration for Geostuff. We headed out early to beat the heat today and our targets were high FP caches We grabbed any others that where on the way to these too! We had the water but didn't need it. All the Zip ties where broken so I rumaged through our drawers and managed to find 2 large ones that we used to put it back. Great cache though! TFTC akela0
Had to find a cache for the 9th of August, this one had a few favourites so we went for it. Went prepared, even had some water to spare. Thanks for the adventure.
Day 303 (Saturday 27th) of our trip. Caching along the way. In Whyalla today. A total of 10 for the day and 5895 for the trip. TFTC
Stuck a finger in the dyke... umm, yep that worked
Glad we read the description before leaving the motel this morning. Well equipped!
Out with Jack and Sebastbat for some June Long Weekend Plus fun of our own - as this year's event had been thwarted by a naughty virus! Headed out, umm, this way and that way... plenty of little icons on the map to be converted to smilies
A little more Whyalla, then homeward bound. We'll be back Whyalla - lots we didn't have time for!
We did think the Whyalla map needs some more large caches. Maybe we'll have to bring some back
thanks for the cache akela0

All the best caches are hidden at a safe social distance
(161m apart, though preferably not vertical distancing !!! )
Caching never stops with some serious help from soap, water, and especially alcohol...
( Good for cache cleanliness and coping with puzzles ! )
Once cacher per 4sqm is easily achieved
Space is good. Fresh air is good. Exercise is good. The great views are very good.
#washyourhands - we don't know where the cache has been!
Gloves are handy - but only if you change them between finds !
#washyourhandsagain please
Support the regions! Hide a cache in the Barossa and another
#keepwashingyourhandsagainandagain
[xx(] If you stay "Covidsafe" you may just avoid a whole bunch of other nasty germs this flu season too
Hand hygiene and keeping safe distances can reduce your chance of common cold, flu, pneumonia, gastro, and a whole bunch of other nasties, as well as that corona thing
Ease your restrictions carefully. But get out and keep fit!
Enjoy caching. It's good for your physical and mental health

Quickly located and the prize quickly extracted!!!! Thanks akela0 for the hide!!! A favourite for something different for Whyalla!!
Must admit I didn't do my homework before coming here. Luckily, being a traveller, I had the requisite material to retrieve the cache with and water the tree too...
Spending a few days in Whyalla and found a few cache, or 300!
Had managed to solve all the puzzles before coming over too.
Of the nearly 300 found on the trip over and back from Adelaide, 95% were found within 50km of Whyalla Central, with approx a dozen dnfs also. Amongst all the finds was my 17000th find.
Also managed a lot of 'unloved' finds too.
What is it with Whyalla and mint tins? lol
TNLNSL
Thanks

Another day of caching around Whyalla and it was a case of chalk and cheese with yesterday's success and enjoyment replaced with frustration and irritation.
I came over prepared for this so the tree got a bonus watering.
Thanks for the cache akela0.

Found with e.gregory1 during a caching foray around Whyalla for the weekend after solving and stockpiling the solutions ready for the occasion. Thanks for the puzzle and cache akela0!
Found with Featherwaite on a visit to Whyalla.
Thanks akela0 for the puzzle and the cache.
Thanks akela0 for the puzzle and the cache.
Fortunately I had the necessary in the car to retrieve this cache - I usually carry some anyway. Cache was duly retrieved and the log signed.
Hi there akela0.
We found your cache **"Geo Tree"** at 12:31:00 PM today. (This makes our find count 15810).
We cached around the Whyalla area today. On our trek we found a wide variety of container types. & ended up finding 20 caches with 1 DNF's.
Thanks for placing this cache here, without geocaching as our guide we would never have found so many interesting places on our travels. We awarded this cache a favourite point for the ingenious construction.
**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found the cache around 7m from where the GPS said we should be looking.
**Cache Condition:** The container and log book are in good shape.
**Took:** Nothing.
**Left:** A Smiley Badge.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards
Ian & Penny.

A quick find and sign whilst visiting friends in town :c) They were muggles... but it seems there may be a new geo-family in town, lol ;c) Helping them find a few easy ones and interesting ones to get them started... even though the new beginners app is a little restrictive! These field puzzle types are always fun to do :c) TFTC!
GoodLook very, very badly wanted to attend a special event, so who was I to tell her she was going overboard with geocaching [?]
Today was the Main Event day, the sole reason for our being up in Whyalla (accompanied by Laighside Legends) and the first thing we did in the morning was to get into a tri-hulled aluminium diving boat and cruise to 6km offshore so that we could attend fishingmad's 5T event
We had a blast and it was huge fun showing GoodLook around parts of Whyalla that she hadn't seen before I think her logs say it all!
Today was a day of 2 events attended , 2 DNFs and 24 cache finds
Unless mentioned otherwise, please know that your cache and log book was in good condition.
Duct tape[?] Just do what the boy did and use your fingers! [^]
The best part of these caches is when someone's feet or body are in the wrong place at the wrong time
We watered the geo tree

I've done a few caches like this now so I know all the tricks and when to bring some duct tape! The water was poured in and the cache was soon in hand!

Gotta love a water cache! This is the second one I have done and it was lots of fun. Laighside Legends had some clever ways of doing it. - very cool
The loud and lovely Locus Cache [:X], the very clever Laighside Legends and myself drove to Whyalla in Harry with the aim of this weekend being: to find a few caches, and attend the 5T boating/fishing & caching event.....AWESOME!! [^]
There was fun, laughter , silliness [:o)], tense moments, some creative driving (on road, off-road, dirt, sand, mud, water, tackling what could be described as a very steep and narrow bmx track...yep you heard me!) , breath holding , kindness [:X], tight time schedules, ladder climbing, feet getting wet, dolphins, a boat, fish, nanos, ammos, sistema of all sizes and a number of mint tins. Surprisingly few DNFs. And LOTS of other mad crazy conversations and adventures. Gotta love caching and all of the fun it can be!! [:o)] [^]

Did this one at night after drop bear sanctuary, with "I found it2". Another excellent cache from akela0. We always enjoy finding an akela0 cache and really appreciate the effort that goes into placing and maintaining these caches. Thanks very much for the cache. Even managed to drag the oldest junior Cache Ooh (22) out with us to this one, and he really enjoyed it. The Cache Oohs
Great cache Akela0. Found after dark with Cache Oohs. Startled a big muggle roo just off the road but he took off into the scrub. Obviously not a Geo-cacher!!!
[font=Verdana]21272 caches found
Doing at Whyalla for the day - enjoyed myself - The weather is very nice... [^][^]
Muggle damaged it as I am not happy with muggle... see pic
Thanks for hide the cache for me to found it
Again thanks akela0[font=Verdana][^]

We are on our way to the Mega event at Stanthorpe but having left Adelaide we could not resist this diversion to pick up some of the caches around Port Augusta and Whyalla. Nicely done - we enjoyed finding this cache. Fav point alloc Thanks to akela0 for placing this cache.
It was while I was wandering off into the bushland, that a though struck me.
"Hmm !! I hope nobody sees me carrying a 5 litre plastic bottle of water in here !!! " [:o]
They may be wondering just what sort of 'special plants' I might be watering
As promised, the cache was easy to find
And with ample supplies of water to hand, the logbbook was soon in me paws
Thanks for the fun to find cache [^]
PS: The outside of the cache container was wet !!
But the inside is nice and dry [:o)]

This was a hide type we've come across a few times before but it is still a novelty.
Only had a mobile 2 litre container in the campervan so a nearby tree got a special treat as well.
Thanks.

Catching up on some very late logs.
We headed out to Port Bonython for a day of sightseeing and of course caching, that finished finished the 31 days of August and as there was still some light left we were just random caching.
It was almost dark by the time we arrived at GZ but we had a good idea of what we had to do and knew it should not take long.
We were correct and it took us longer to locate the Geo Tree than it did to add our name to the log.
Many thanks akela0 for a nice easy puzzle, not like some in this town.

Today, we tackled some dirt tracks, which wasn't the best of ideas, due to the recent rain.
A couple of spots were extremely soft & muddy, but the geo-cruiser never let us down.
We left some caches due to their placement, and hope to pick them up on another visit.
The geo-cruiser got filthy dirty and so did our shoes, but a great fun day was had.
Added the water and retrieved the cache.
Thanks for the fun cache, akela0.

A Great weekend away doing the Googs Track with good friends. Lots of different scenery and a lot of fun
We had a great time seeing some good ranges of different styles of caches now it was time to grab a few caches around the Whyalla area.
Thanks for putting these caches out for us to find akela0

After completing our trek along the Googs Track and back through the Gawler Ranges, it was time to rack up some numbers in the Whyalla area - gee there are a lot of caches around here.
Out driving this area with honeysucker, Freddo, Astro and Waldron getting some more pin striping on the cars. TFTC.

What a fantastic cache. Came prepared and it was a really easy grab and sign. Again, a fav from me in time. TFTC
Didn't read the instructions but found another way how to extract the cache. Loved it. TFTC
Had forgotten the cache description by the time we drove through the tracks to here, and the only water on board was liquid gold at local servo prices, so McPhan and I found an alternate method of retrieval, which damaged nothing. MacGyver's 'r us. No leathermen were used/hurt in the accessing of this cache. Great idea for a cache though.
Thanks akela0.
Thanks akela0.

My GPS is not working, so I used google earth, printed a map, worked out the bearing and found the tree using my trusty compass. Kids liked the hike - one got wet feet! The log book was slightly damp, so left it in a tree to dry while we had morning tea. All back now. TFTC we enjoyed it.
Good Geo, was half way there when we read the instructions, had to go back for water.
Have had fun with one of these before and came prepared, cache was revealed with a proper watering, signed and donated the spare water to the local flora TFTC
I've saved this one (and a few others) for today - the last dot day.
I have now filled my 366 days of geocaching calendar

Geo Tree didn't need watering, after all the rain last night, a couple of near slip ups in the mud, but that was saved for the Grande Tramonda and Run Forrest Run very very clever tree thankyou
The frog supplied the water. I gave him the finger. Sweet mate. Nice paint job on the cache. Nice work all round.
Thanks to akela0 and clear skies from TeamAstro.

After a pleasant stroll I spotted the cache. I followed the instructions and watered the geo-tree and replaced the cache only to find that I’d left the pencil out. I didn’t have any more water left, so I’ve left the pencil under the nearby saltbush – would the next finder replace it please?
Thanks akela0 for this variation of this type of cache.

Went there yesterday but forgot the water, so we watered it today, fun and impressive cache among the native apricot trees.

I like this cache except I have concerns about the colour of the cache. Maybe a better camo might be in order out here, there are heaps of bike riders and walkers that use the bushland. In any case a Fav point is called for...
This cache was a lot of fun, the bottle was half empty before I realized I had to follow the clue or lose the cache. Thanks for a great little cache.
Now there's an original idea, although I have seen one like this before Find #1000 for the woodsys!! TFTC
Anther FTF but with ASKJGRAZ this time. very surprised I got FTF was out fishing on the boat when it came though, thought Fishingmad would have got it
Silver for me, another cache I have missed out on FTF when I could have got it. I just didn't check the phone while I was out placing my "Can I Do One Too" cache. So I would have been on the road and able to do it if I was on the ball. Oh well thats caching. The cache is very clever, it is always good to come accross different caches like this. TFTC.
What an awesome day, time in the boat, a few crabs and a FTF on the way home. Thanks akela0
