A plan was hatched with Rapidlywild to attack some of the caching trails down in VIC/SA.
With the boarders slowly staying open we thought Easter might be a safe time to try since the QLD boarder was still too fragile to attempt going to the MEGA and it also looked like it could be rather wet there.

The group grew from two to six quickly after having a chat to GoodLook about our plans.
Our team “The Mob” now consisted of GoodLook, LíB, Rapidlywild, The Drovers and ourselves and feathertop joined us on day 4. This team ended up being very productive and some new friendships were made. Always a bonus in my book.
All logs were stamped with “The Mob” to save space and time.

Day 6 After finishing the On Your Bike and Around the World in 81, Ode to JLWE and Riddlers Roonka Rampage and TdU we decided to see if we could tick TdF as well.
All caches were found on the trail in fairly good condition.

Thanks for the hide and trail equipe de cinq and thanks for the fun "The Mob"

For the first time in a long time, it was road trip time. With COVID-19 keeping everyone at home for so long, the borders were finally opening and the feet were itchy for a decent caching trip. Plans were made with FurfacesLL to do a 10 day road trip across to Mildura and Loxton to do a heap of caching and we were excited. Across the 10 days we racked up over 4,300km in driving, multiple hotels/motels, brought home enough red dust to create our own sand pit in the back yard and collected over 1800 finds between us. It was a massive trip and lots of fun was had.

We teamed up with GoodLook, FeatherTop, The Drovers and LiB and signed most logs as "The Mob". There were a few caches which were signed as individual team names as some teams had already completed said caches, those will be noted individually.

Our target caches were the Turtle Series, the Paddle Steamer Series and the On Ya Bike wherigo Series, heaps of other caches were also collected along the way but our primary target caches were completed which made us all very happy and very tired geocachers.

Onto day 6 and back out onto the On Your Bike series we go to finish it off. Once we had finished that, we made our way to some Around the World multis, Riddlers Roonka/Ode to JLWE Series, the TdU series and even managed to do the TdF series! It was a big day. We picked up a few caches along the way, travelling along the way was GoodLook, The Drovers, LiB, FurfacesLL, FeatherTop and myself.

With the TdU completed much quicker than we expected, we discussed as a team that multiple groups had not done the TdF and we were soooo close to it. It was agreed that we would give it a crack and see how we went, if we finished it, brilliant, if we didnt, it didnt matter. We were on a roll today and we managed to get them all done !!! [^]

Thanks for the hides equipe de cinq Big Grin And thanks to "The Mob" for a trip to remember [^].

Most of the caches are stamped as The Mob (consisting of The Drovers, LíB, FurfacesLL, Rapidlywild, feathertop and myself), however a handful contain our own caching names or initials.

The series that we tackled during this trip included The Paddle Steamer, The Turtle, On Your Bike, The TdU, The TdF and some Roonka puzzles put out for a June Long Weekend some time ago. Plus many random caches that we passed.

2020 was not a great year, and the beginnings of 2021 have also been tricky - so when it looked like the various borders would be open again (without quarantine restrictions), a trip was spontaneously planned and I was able to pull together a number of my caching friends who hadn't cached together before to form "The Mob".

LíB and I started in SA, drove to Victoria and ended our trip in SA; FurfacesLL and Rapidlywild came from Canberra and The Drovers began their journey from NSW; and then a few days later, feathertop from Victoria, joined us to complete the On Your Bike Series and other caches in SA.

We filled our days with piling in cars, hard core caching, Adventure Labs, crazy funny CB radio chatter, some laughter, some tense moments (OMG some of the ladder and tree climbs on this trip were crazy!), lots of lovely meals and even live music from a band called "Kung Fu Jesus" - nope, that is no joke.

We had hot weather each day (well into 30s), so I am thrilled that I now own a car fridge to keep the drinks icy cold (loving them at about 1 degree celcius).

A sincere thanks to equipe de cinq for placing this cache. Big Grin

Found after a day out in Morgan, finding a few more of the TDF series on the way home. Caches found after a short search and in decent condition for their age.
Unfortunately a DNF for this one, the only one for the day. At least it gives us a reason to return.

Main aim for today was to knock off the rest of this TdF series. Most winners are not well known names but some we do know. Found nearly all the containers but about 6 were damaged. Good series which was fun to find. Logs were signed. TFTC.

01-Sep-19
Having started this series yesterday with ilook4geo, we were keen to finish it off today, so headed off with a long list to achieve. Not many of the winners' names were familiar to us, as we are not really into cycling. Each cache was located, its log was signed and then was returned to its hiding place. Many thanks go to equip de cinq for placing this series of caches, but some really do need attention as several containers are broken.

Today I planned with Nettieknows to complete the Tour de France series, we signed all the log books as NG9886 (nettie knows, gridge98, 8/6/19). Majority of the cache are all in good Nic, a few are broken here and there though. Great to think about the winners of the tour, can’t wait till the giro comes out Wink

With the rain abating we decided to head out from Eudunda to this power trail to find what we could. Not sure the surface out here would be condusive to a cycling race but perfect for a power trail. All caches were located without a problem due to precise co-ords and the only muggles we came across in the 30 klms we covered today, were feral goats, a few kangaroos and a flock of sheep roaming along the side of the road. Thanks equipe de cinq

Day two of our Morgan visit and the conquer the TDF Series. Started earlier this morning to get it done before it heted up. Well we managed to get them done but it heated up earlier than we would of liked. Not helped by stoppingon the road and still having 40mtrs to walk into the cache.

Planned a big day out with JJ52 to collect the TDF series. We’d been worrying about hot weather but then cold wet weather came so delighted that Saturday arrived and was perfect caching weather.
A delayed departure due to forgetting the battery pack meant we didn’t start caching until well after 10am.
All caches found in the series (thus far) which was a bonus.
Lots of water on the road in some places, Ute is now filthy!!
Saw lots of wildlife, lizards kangaroos wallaby emu sheep goats but thankfully no slithering snakes .
Arrived back home after 7pm having found 126 caches, it is still beyond my comprehension how or why 860 odd caches can be done in a day.
TFTC and series. A few require new containers as several have perished. Good to find some larger containers on a PT.

15-Dec-18
A plan was hatched with Michells&hound to come and get the Tour de France series and today was the day. [^]
We were very lucky with the weather which turned out to be perfect for a power trail, warm but not hot, especially after the very unpredictable hot and wet weather we had in the previous week, which was evidenced by quite a lot of water lying around as we drove along. Surprised
All caches were found, some with brittle containers, broken lids and wet logs, but we were able to stamp each log and replaced containers to try and prevent more water damage. Big Grin
We ventured off the trail a few times to get some other caches which gave us a different focus for a while. [^]
We saw lots of wildlife, kangaroos, wallabies, an emu, sheep on the roadside and dodged a number of lizards crossing the roads. Later in the day we spotted lots of rabbits who didn't like us coming to disturb them. Surprised
Thanks for the cache and series equipe de cinq. Smile

As last night was the firzt night of the tour de France. I thought it was only right to do this power trail. Started early and after about 4.5 hrs i crossed the line. But no yellow jersey for me.
Thanks for the caches, alot of work has gome into making and maintaining these. Great trail

What an amazing sight after leaving the lush green areas around Morgan and drive down this road to the stark desert with no grass in any direction, just the scrub that dominates the area. We spoke with a farmer further down the track who told us they were shooting their sheep as the cost was too great to grain feed them. We stopped at a deserted house on the road and the pit at the front with the carcasses showed hard times along the road.
The cache series along here is quite good, with caches on each side of the road, often a bit further than expected. There were lots of Kangaroos and one Emu spotted before we go to the multi road intersection where we needed to look at the map to see the caches on these roads.

Thanks equipe de cinq for this great series of caches here, they were great.

Our day 6 started nice and early after some late night planning trying to identify the power trails which would support our cache finding mission [^]. We headed north(ish) of the City and were ripping around the countryside collecting smiley faces Smile.

I had been eyeing off an interstate trip for some time now and made plans to head to SA to power through the geoart trails over here Big Grin. I roped in my geo buddy Krabiboy to join me and we set about solving [?] caches and highlighting Jasmer caches that aren't available over in WA. Our adventure took us from the CBD over to the Yorke Peninsula and then back across to the Murray Bridge area Smile. We were relentless in chasing down the finds and picked up as many as we could in the week that we had available. Due to the park and grab nature of our visit, the log books which weren't able to accommodate the ink stamp we had made were signed with the initials 'jk'! Fave points will be awarded for those caches which are considered awesome Big Grin

A massive thanks here to equipe de cinq for placing this cache here and for tempting us to venture over to this area. Cheers!

jinta29 found your cache TdF - 1960 - Gastone Nencini today. This is my find #7787 and find #47 today. I was able to get my name in the log book here and we replaced the cache as we found it. Thanks once again equipe de cinq for placing this and bringing us to this part of the world!

Travelled in to Morgan yesterday so that we could have one and a half days on the TdF trail as we were pretty sure that we couldn't do it all in one day. So glad we did. We are both tired of jumping in and out of the car but achieved excellent results for us. 85 finds out of 86 attempts. I think this may also be my best day ever.

Many thanks to equipe de cinq for placing and maintaining this incredible trail for us to find. A great effort and thanks to this trail I will certainly be able to reach my next milestone in time to achieve the great looking souvenir at the Event over Easter in Alice Springs. I just have to be careful not to overshoot it now!

Apologies to equipe de cinq for the generic log. I am going to send a message about some of the individual caches.

Thanks again. All found caches were stamped. Took Pt.

Family drive today to get this series.
We had a wonderful time, with a picnic lunch on the side of the road, finishing with a picnic dinner by the river.
We saw a fox, kangaroos, kookaburras, a wombat, sheep, lizards, rabbits and a bull which was right near a cache eeekkkk.
Ran into a wee issue with a tree that had fallen across the road blocking it completely, so please be cautious anyone driving this road, especially at night.
Something fantastic about watching a 10 year old, a 16 year old and a 40 year old jump from the car and race for the cache, putting child lock on, pushing, shoving and being total idiots, but only 2 sore ankles by the younger ones.
It was a great day out Thankyou

A generic log for these as there are so many. A great day out around Eudunda with Mrs S A Sewer Rats then onward to start this trail challenge, one of many awaiting our assault. Many were easy finds and all in good condition. Thanks for the information about each of these riders although we are not overly interested in this sport, the drive along a road that we would never have otherwise traveled made for a fun day out with many a Bunny and Lizard crossing our path. Roast potato's and gravy seemed like a good idea with a few of the other creatures we saw. TFTC

Today was day eight of the ahomburg and sharkiefan 2015 road trip to South Australia. This was a massive driving day and we would be on the road for around 12 hours and a bonus at the ens is we did NOT want to kill each other. We were headed towards Mildura, the final night of our holiday. Our aim was to pick up whatever caches we came across along the way as well as trying to complete the Tour De France Series. It turns out stopping for so many caches really eats up your day.

Thanks to equipe de cinq for the cache. TNLN

Le Tour de France avec les Suscoes.
Our aim was to complete the tour today. It was nice to be on much quieter roads than those in Europe. Of course the scenery here would not attract quite the same viewing audience, that suited us perfectly and we managed to complete the course, in reverse, in 4hrs 45 mns, being 3hrs 25 mns on the move and 1hr 20mins stationary.

Thanks to equipe de cinq for the hunt.

Oh no, we forgot our lycra! Oh well we do have our shorts. Hmn, not the best outfits for the seeds, burrs, spikes and prickles we met on the way. AND we spent from 8:30 am until about 4 pm catching lunch and snacks etc. on the run. We did note that the circuit has been recently graded and the peloton should find the surface almost as good as the cobbled sections often encountered in the TDF. It was also noted that a motorcycle track has been installed beside the main track, probably for the press and television cyclists although we had very few spectators etc. on the circuit today.
We have not really tackled any “power” series however decided to complete this one in memory of our brother-in-law, Trevor, who was an avid fan of the TDF. He would sit up every night and watch everything – how he managed to complete his work the next day is amazing. Avid is not the complete description, as he was also a keen cyclist himself. He owned a very expensive Cervelo cycle, signed by none other than Stuart O’Grady. The bike was polished and serviced after every outing and lived on a stand in his bedroom! Sadly he passed away in an accident early in 2014 doing what he loved best.
There were many cache guardians – an assortment of lizards, several huntsman, black “house” spiders, a spider with a black body and red legs, a redback and the nastiest of all was a shingleback that bit the end of any stick that came its way. We were very careful where we put our fingers!
We left an assortment of trademark “ladybugs” to record out trail. Hope they remain safe.
“And the winning team is K.I. bug”. (Probably for the longest time taken to complete all stages!).
This series must have taken a lot of time to set up so a big thankyou goes to equipe de cinq for the effort and thanks also for the enjoyment and exercise we gained.

We came over from WA to SA for the Mega event in Murray Bridge and have been roving around the state ever since trying for a few smiley's as we go. We drove up from Adelaide to MT Mary this morning and started an assault on this series at 1.00pm. 28 caches in the first hour. 21 in the second and 26 in the third. It becomes somewhat a blur after that with 1988 not being a very good year for us and our only DNF for the day. Surprised Darkness fell with only eight caches to go so on with the head mounted light, ignore the tiredness. One cache at a time. Finally finished about 6.15pm well and truely dark well and truely beat bushed and ready for a meal. [xx(] But Oh so satisfied. Big GrinBig Grin We had a great afternoon. Yes, there were a few wet spots along the track but nothing that a bucket of water over the car tomorrow morning wont fix. We appreciated the effort that has gone into conceiving this series and placing the caches with very good coordinates (most of the time)

[Black]Today we headed out to the TdF series with FelixII, quite happy to see that the rain had stopped and the sun was shinning albeit weakly.

We drove up the highway from Mallala to Morgan and drove back down the stock route picking up the odd additional cache along the way. The road was good order, though a bit slippery in isolated patches, and the rain stayed away. I must say I'm glad we didn't have to ride the route on the bikes.

Most caches were in good order and mostly dry inside even though some where in puddles of water.
Thanks for your cache , we had fun.[/Black]

Having met up with iluvtrekking a few days ago and surviving the pouring rain of the last few days it was very nice to head out with them today with only the odd drizzle about. The sun even managed to poke its head out a couple of times. Razz Think the temp only got to 14degrees though Wink

A fabulous day touring the countryside. We also managed to complete the TDF series. A very successful day with only 1 DNF.Took heaps of photo's so a big thankyou for this cache.

The cache is in good condition. Thanks equipe de cinq for the cache!

Sitting in a pub in Auckland before the SA MEGA we decided it would be a really fun idea to try and see how many caches we could find within 24hours. So it was decided, team NZ Fun was born (myself, Alpenmilch80, Cats and Dragons, slieschke, funkymonkeyzone and vistra). We met at the dedicated starting point just before midnight and we were ready to go on the stroke of 12, we completed Signal, OZ Mega trails, Wandering Heros and the Tour de France with many others in between.

Thank you to the many cache owners who put time and effort into placing and maintaining these trails, we really appreciate it, we managed 727 caches within our 24hours, which was exhillerating, exhausting and loads of fun. Apologies for the generic log.

Found with alpenmilch80, Cats&Dragons, funkymunkyzone, vistra and yorkshirekiwi83 on an epic 24 hour cache run of the Oz Mega trails, Wandering Heroes, Tour de France and a bunch of caches between these. Signed as NZ Fun (and also some instances of Fun NZ as the day continued on)! A total of 727 caches were found on this run! Smile

Thanks to all the COs for their placements!

Team "NZ Fun" - funkymunkyzone, slieschke, alpenmilch80, vistra, yorkshirekiwi83 and Cats&Dragons - found this on our rather loosely planned 24 hours of cache finding record run, from midnight to midnight on the 18th of April 2014. We started with the Signal geo-art trail, headed up through the other Oz Mega 2014 trails, the Wandering Heroes series and then across to the Tour de France trail for a total of 727 finds and 11 DNFs for the day. Apologies for the copy/paste logs, but with so many caches found in a single day it was impossible to remember specific caches, but that's not to say there weren't memorable caches along the way - there were indeed some great caches, particularly along the Wandering Heroes series. Special thanks to the cache hiders: OzFiresafe, Team Hurtle, and their helpers, for the Oz Mega 2014 trails; le equipe de cinq pour la piste "Tour de France"; and all the hiders of the Wandering Heroes caches and other caches along the way that we found along the way. We started at midnight on the Signal trail and ended at midnight after a few random caches in Eudunda before making the long drive back to Murray Bridge for some well earned sleep - for some of us, the first sleep for more than 45 hours. We stopped at every cache and it was a fun day but very tiring, and I don't think I'd do it again for a very long time (I'll stop short of saying never though, like organising another mega - ha!) TFTC!!! Big Grin

Find 674 of 727 for the day.

From Auckland via Sydney I arrived at Adelaide around 10pm on the 17th to be picked up by funkymunkyzone, slieschke and Cats&Dragons (thx!). The plan was a 24h geocaching run which included picking up as many caches possible involving the three trails of Oz Mega, Wandering Heroes and Tour de France. We made it just in time back to Murray Bridge to meet up with vistra and yorkshirekiwi83 at GZ of our first cache. With the whole Team "NZ Fun" assembled the run started exactly at midnight.
In total we managed 727 finds and 11 DNFs in 24 hours. Wow what a great team effort!!

It was already dark when we finished the "Oz Mega 2014 SA, Signal & the Wandering Heroes" series and headed on our long way to get the "Tour de France" series . Quite a different area, terrain and finds compared to the previous trails.
Some of our team members had to fight the cold and the sleepiness but we all managed to get to the end of it. TFTC

I am over from New Zealand for Oz Mega 2014 and today joined forces with fellow kiwis Yorkshirekiwi83, Cats&Dragons, Funkymunkyzone, Slieschke and Alpenmilch80 for a 24 hour non stop caching run! The log books were signed under the team name of "NZ Fun"

We started near Murray Bridge and worked our way around the Oz Mega 2014 Signal trail, then on to the OZ Mega 2014 SA trail. Once those trails were finished, we headed over to Tailem Bend and worked through the Wandering Heroes series up to Loxton. From here we made our way across to the Tour De France power trail. Whilst the power trails were our main focus, we also picked up a few other caches along the way. At the end of the 24 hours we finished with 727 cache finds!!! It was an exhausting 24 hours and we still had to drive back to Murray Bridge afterwards! Sorry for the generic logs, but a big thank you to the cache owners for all of the cache placements!

Found as part of a 24hour cache run Twisted with 5 other kiwi's while at the OZMEGA2014 Murray Bridge (Alpenmilch80, Slieschke, funkymunkyzone, vistra & Yorkshirekiwi83, ) on Friday 18th April. All logs were signed as "NZ Fun"

We had a great time and throughly enjoyed the challenge that this presented to us all, thank you to the cache owners for being able to create such a range of caches for us to complete.

We started our run at Signal, through to OZ MEGA 2014, The Wandering Hero's, Tour de France with many other caches along the way. For all that we managed we only had 11 DNF's in the whole trip which for the numbers was pretty amazing in its own right.

So again thank you for the NZ FUN Cool

Visiting from Queensland and staying in Adelaide for a couple of days prior to the Mega at Murray Bridge, as a big fan of ‘Le tour’, this power trail was a must do.

We were a bit late getting started so we only had about 4.5 hours before it was too dark to continue. We therefore concentrated on just the tour winners – my apologies to the Aussie riders. No major problems with the containers and logs; year 1938 needs a new log and year 1950 was a bit wet. All up a great series in terrain that was really quite different to what we usually encounter around Brisbane. The location also seemed very remote and eerie after dark.

Thanks to ‘equipe de cinq’ for maintaining a great power tail.

TFTC.

In SA for the mega we set out to do this series. We spent a nice day making our way though each of the caches, saw lots of kangaroo as night settled, and finally after watching the lunar eclipse we finished what was left.
Thanks equipe d cinq for all the cache page information and the hides,
Regards The Coffee's.

#2058 - 15:07; Day 4 of Sol de Lune and LuckyL10n's great big SA Road Trip was off to another early start as we headed off from Tailem Bend towards Nuriootpa to try for the 50 power trail, then on towards Eudunda for the Tour de France trail and what we hoped would be another 100 plus cache day.

We had picked up a few caches along the way to Nuriootpa, finished the '50' power trail, then it was off on the Tour de France. A nice flat straight run through, although we did head bush at one stage, not wishing for a repeat of our effort earlier in the day when we hit some sticky running! We finished the trail in just under four hours and managed to find all caches without incident.

Another series that I've been waiting to complete, and while in the area with LuckyL10n before I head to the Mega, we set out for the drive. All caches were found without any issues, but the road was certainly impassable by 2WD's in a couple of sections.....meaning a slight bush bash was required.

All up a good afternoon for caching and we managed to complete the trail in just under 4 hours.

Thanks for the fun.......and all the caches......

and Nencini is tiring. This is more like a steeplechase than a bike race! This is the second time the riders have been relocated in Stage 12, this time to 1937, for the finish of the race.

Just had to do the TdF trail and only had an afternoon to do it.
Only a couple of muggles around and a reasonably quick find on all.
Thanks for the cache and the series, well done equipe de cinq,

What better way to spend a day off from work than to Geocache.

Have had my eye on this series for a while, and decided to attempt it, as I won't get a chance to cache again before Oz Mega.

Had hoped to knock the entire series off today, but decided to head back after 55.

Fantastic location for the caches, only spotted a farmers vehicle later in the day, besides from that no other signs of human life.

Just like caching should be, no need to look over ones shoulder for muggles, just pure uninterupted caching Big Grin

Thanks equipe de cinq for a great cache! Big Grin

On our way to oz mega in Murray bridge via exploring the rest of South Australia, we saw this trail and decided it was right up our alley, so far we have done AFL, rugby and soccer trails so doing a cycling one is perfect. Very hot day but that has added to the sense of doing a trail along a stock route. Only one DNF and no encounters with joe Blake's. Thank you for a wonderful experience.

As we are finally enjoying some respite from the long hot summer and having a spare Sunday we decided we would like to try this power trail.

We left our current digs at Gawler Belt at 06.00 grabbed some caches on the way and found this first hide of the trail at 08.00. After recent rains we didn't leave a dust trail behind the geomobile but we had quite a few very large puddles to drive throughBig Grin. We chuckled at how often a cache was hidden right beside these big pools which required a bit of a walk but that was very welcome in the lovely cool, cloudy day.

The cool conditions also meant that we didn't see any undesirable slithery things which was great...however with the sparse vegetation on the side of the road we would have had plenty of notice if a joe Blake was in the vicinity Smile

I'm afraid for expedience I am using a generic log and for that I apologise. I have added extra comments on some logs as appropriate.

We were both very impressed at the standard of the hides....most were large enough for swaps but the odd different hide kept us on our toesBig Grin. Best of all the co-ords were absolutely spot on. The whole power trail is the best maintained we have done to date and we didn't have a single DNF. Because it is in a nice, remote area we only saw four cars for the whole day....exactly what we like....rural caching.... so we don't have to feel furtive and sneakyBig Grin

Beware the prickly box thorn on the way to this oneSmile

Many thanks equipe de cinq for a great trail. We loved it. We'll give this first one a favourite point [^][^][^][^][^]
