Time for this one to go, it was probably the least exciting of the series along here so not worth going to a lot of effort to replace.
On an enjoyable walk, I wasn't expecting difficulty here but I found myself in an area with plenty of potential hiding places. After a fairly thorough search, I checked recent logs to discover the cache possibly hasn't been found for over five years. Having read that some searchers found the treasure at a lower level than where they started, I did another sweep but focussed more on areas closer to the track. This doesn't seem like the type of location where a cache would go missing but it is possible vegetation growth has covered items that need to be checked. It is also quite possible that finders have progressively "helped" by covering the cache to make it more difficult to find. I will put this one on my watchlist.
No joy for me today. Spent the obligate 20 minutes hunting, but could not find. Ran out of time and didn't really want to push things at risk of a fall.
With 2 serious DNFs chose not to detour off main track for this… discounted alebarat’s log as he doesn’t always sign the caches he ‘finds’.
Spent about 15 min with GPS jumping wildly around. Tried both above and below the track but to no avail despite there being plenty of likely spots. Unlikely to have been muggled given the location. Will keep an eye out for future finds and then return.
Not sure if its simply that TregearP and I were blind or its come to some misfortune but we were unable to locate this one even with 20 odd minutes of both of us searching.
That said, the number of potential spots provides many options ...

Found this 12 months ago with Djali Djinn, Yosser9 etc but the trail along the top had been set to premium and I couldn't log the finds. Good to see it's back to ordinary - thanks - it was a great adventure along the top seeking out all these caches.
Attempted on my traditional Epic Birthday Geocache Hunt. This year it was the Red Rocks Loop with the dog. Searched for this one for quite a while without any luck. So many potential hiding spots and nothing particularly distinctive to look for. Also, the GPS signal was patchy making it difficult to figure out exactly where I was supposed to be. Nevermind. TFTC.
#6342. Started from Owhiro Bay for an interesting climb up to this part of Te Kopahau Reserve. Did the second counter-clockwise loop of the day in this area. Went up from the Red Rocks Track trailhead by the baches to Gale Force and came down the Red Rocks Track Reroute via Zig Zag Outcrop. The Reroute was a lot less steep than the original Red Rocks Track around here. Although suitable for mountain bikes, it was still graded 4 coming down and 5 going up. GZ was all quiet. Found after a short search. GPS signals were quite challenging here. Looked too high initially. The cache was in excellent condition. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log. Thanks for the cache.
This one was a little out of our way doing the loop but went for it anyway! Legs were soo tired by this point. Luckily didn't take too long to find the cache even though there were quick a lot of possible hiding spots and the GPS wouldn't go closer than 5m. (which isn't that bad really) TFTC!
Overnight walk around the south coast hills with a couple of mates and a couple of caches.
Easy find on the morning walk out. TFTC

A quick find by the other half and the geokids while I went down the other track, TFTC
Quite happy not to have encountered any mountain bikers here today, there wouldn't have been room for both of us. Found after a longer-than-necessary search - should have used a little more intuition in the first place. TFTC, the last find on this particular expedition - seven in total, got to be happy with that! TFTC anzac61, #7405
Super tired after that walk! Almost walked past the spot but looked at the gps just at the right time. Quick find by Cassie2010. With Yosser9 and Chainsaw Pete. Tftc.
My seventh find of the day, doing the 18km Te Kopahou loop as a run from the turbine. About 2/3 of the way through, on the way back up; scattered rain showers passing over. Legs are starting to complain!
Easy find; TFTC.

Found on the way back down after going up the old Red Rocks track to the Old Stock Yards while on a run. Back along the coast to the car.
The last time I came down this track it was during that lovely spell of weather in January last year. It was the end of a long hot walk along the tops via The Elevator and this little gully felt like the Grand Canyon to me! This time in the much cooler weather I enjoyed it much more with the added bonus of a cache to uncover. No problems were encountered in finding the cache in the first spot we looked. TFTC
A nice Saturday for Geocaching. We went to Red Rocks from the Brooklyn. Nice a trail and a beautiful views. Thanks.
Out and about with kiwimudgie on a brilliant Wellington afternoon. We really enjoyed the views offered on the walk. We ended up walking 16 kms and getting 8 caches.
Thanks for the cache Hurricane Luke

It was a lot further down the track than I was expecting ! It seemed like every 50 metre traverse across the hill resulted in about a 3 metre gain on the cache Found after a short search on the obvious feature at GZ. TFTC !
The track the cache is on wasn't marked on my map so made a couple in incorrect assumptions and followed the ridge out above GZ. The slope got a lot steeper and I was still a little distance from GZ. I headed back to the track from there agcnz probably took the more direct route. I looped around took the easy way down.
Once at GZ it took quite a bit of hunting, I spent quite a bit of time higher up than necessary, but got there in the end.

Weather was good today so I decided to come out this way and try to find a few caches. Managed to find this cache with no problems at all and nobody else was using the track. TFTC.
Zig down, grab cache, zag up! Sounds so easy haha. Loving these south coast caches! Quick find while some MTB eager beans zoomed past. TFTC
A beautiful fine day and I had spent too long inside during the week, time for a decent walk! Started off from the mouth of the Haape Stream and came via the Elevator and the three other caches along the top. I made a couple of errors of judgement with this cache - firstly I should have followed the old track and gone via "Gale Force" as after I found this one I then had to climb almost 160 metres back to it from near sea level, whereas this cache is much lower. Second error, a really bad one, was attempting to take a shortcut to it down a spur from above. The spur looked to be grassy and it was for a while, but it later degenerated into thick gorse through which, after having reached a point of no return, I decided to bash my way. As a result it took me 45 minutes to reach the cache whereas I could have done it in ten minutes down the track . Thing weren't helped either by my topo map not having the zigzag track on it... Anyway, I eventually got to the cache and found it after a short search, it was the most difficult of the series due to the many possible places it could be. Signed log, TFTC!
WOW another joint FTF with boxhill , Saw this cache when it was published and thought that I would leave it for another day, but then getting a phone call from boxhill how could I resist, you know that if the opportunity arises it is always a great possibility that I might give it a go.
After doing the pervious cache GC3HXP8 - Stockyard On Edge! (Wellington) it was time to go to the last cache with boxhill, yes it was getting like this, up and down, down and up, which and what way should I recommended that you do these caches, easy all you need to do is put one foot in front of the other and in the end you will get there as there isn't really any other way to do it.
Well done Hurricane Luke, and I am totally wrapped and very glad to get another of these South Coast caches off my list of unfound caches, what another great spot for a cache , thanks for placing a cache here and for bringing us to this lovely spot, TFTC TNLNSL (4367) Yeetrees FTF Craze also decided to come along to visit this cache as well.

Happy Days FTF ! As the weather had turned out to be a lot better than forecast I teamed up with Yeetrees for a late afternoon “stroll” around the loop to see if we could nab the FTFs. Doesn’t matter which way you go here your gunna do a fair amount of climbing. A nice sheltered spot for this one. TNLN SL TFTC
